Another confession from a self proclaimed boba connoisseur: Last week while stopping by Chun Wah Kam, I spotted a new tea spot! Rachie, moth. Tea spot, flame. Ya catch my drift? The spot is where Aloha Crepes used to be. It's definitely transformed inside. A lot more spacious and open. Since covid hit, my usual tea joints have shortened their hours. I've naturally always been a night owl, vampire, nocturnal creach... The fact that this place is open later than them, might win me over on certain days (more so nights). As you might already know, I definitely have had my fair share of boba by now. When testing new milk teas, classic or signature will tell me what I need to know. This first sip, literally brought me back circa 2002 to my first lick of boba milk tea in San Diego. They have done it, and I am coming back to try the rest of the menu. I did see something with azuki and I know Mr. G is won over without even trying it lol. I don't visit any other Leeward spots that have an azuki add in. So, confession within this confession is that I came to try the souffle pancakes. The milk tea was just the (boba)cherry on top. When reading another review, I had no idea cloud 9 closed. They were the one of the very few places to find souffle pancakes. It was too far for me, so thanks Tea Spot for bringing it in. I ordered the strawberry souffle since I was already having a boba milk tea. If it wasn't tea day (surprise! I don't really survive on ONLY boba), I would've gotten the boba souffle. I love this place for not only being open later, but having the items I ordered within the hour of closing. I absolutely hate a first impression where you know they weren't prepared and do not have their ish together. I said it before and I'll say it a million times, a hundred million times, e.v.e.r.y. s.i.n.g.l.e. t.i.m.e. you better not be out here calling yourself a boba shop if y'all ain't bringing the got dang BOBA!!! The tea was on the sweet side. Maybe it was because I came from eating Cajun food but I just felt it was rather sweet. Inside there are tons of other flavors and there are cute designs to take pictures of! Sorry, I forgot to take a pic of the boba tea but it is regular brown colored with darker boba bubbles that sink to the bottom of the cup. They have nice straws made from recycled material. I know we can't and shouldn't use plastic but somehow I feel this alters the taste of the tea. I have to say the person that helped us was extremely sweet and helpful. There's not many tea places that are around Aiea around compared to in town. Seeing as this place recently opened up, I had to check it out! It's located near Shiro's Saimin Haven and Palama Supermarket in Waimalu Shopping Center. There's a parking lot with ample parking space that won't ever be a problem. I got the Thai coffee. I asked for less sugar but the worker informed me that the sugar had already been mixed in with their drinks. She offered to add more milk, but I like my coffee strong and just went with whatever they had. The drink turned out to be strong but suuuper sweet. I couldn't drink it all in one sitting because of the sweetness. But at least it was strong! My friends got the oreo milk tea and Thai tea. The Thai tea was on the creamier side. It was also really sweet to my liking. The oreo milk tea was just their regular milk tea with a foam top and oreo bits. It threw my friend off because he was expecting something else (not too sure what tho LOL). The milk tea was okay. Not his favorite nor mine. This place was mediocre. Tried the new boba shop in Waimalu Shopping Center to take advantage of their free milk tea with a purchase of a souffle pancake. We ordered the Cream Cheese Souffle Pancake, lychee tea with cheese foam and got the free assam milk tea with boba (75% sweetness) The drinks came out super quick but the souffle pancake took around 20 minutes to be made. I was not a fan of the cheese foam ($1.25) at all - it was super airy, flavorless and just plain weird. The Lychee Tea ($5.55) was good and refreshing but a little too sweet for me at 100%. The Boba Milk Tea with Assam (usually $5.75) was good at 75% - the assam flavor was strong and the milk was just right but the boba was a little too soft for my liking. The Cream Cheese Souffle Pancake $12.95 came with three really thick, airy and fluffy pancakes with a slightly salty cream cheese sauce topped with marshmallows, cornflakes, sprinkles and some candy-like sprinkles. The pancakes and cream cheese sauce were good but the toppings threw the whole thing off and made it less enjoyable. read more

I also tried the Oreo milk tea, which was also good. I got the brown sugar soufflé pancake. It also came with boba in it. I was surprised boba made such a nice addition to the pancakes! Texturally it made it more interesting. The soufflé pancake came with 3 inside the box. I called ahead. These pancakes are a dessert item, but not as sweet as IHOP kids pancakes topped with whipped cream and chocolate chips kind of sweet. The sweetness is like, Japanese strawberry cheesecake. It's looks sweet, but actually not so much. It's light. The location is busy, but not sure if the people in Aiea are big fans of this. I like it. read more

The oreo milk tea comes with cheese foam and oreo pieces on top. The boba was different in size, taste, and texture from the boba at the other bubble tea places that I have been to, but it was very good. I was also impressed with the drink as it tasted refreshing and not artificial. The milk tea was strong in flavor and you can tell that they use real tea and not just some powder mix. So a new Boba Cafe opened in Waimalu Shopping Center... BUT THE HIGHLIGHT IS THAT IT'S PROBABLY THE FIRST CAFE ON THE WEST SIDE THAT SERVES THE SOUFFLÉ PANCAKES! I went on a Saturday and it wasn't busy at all. My brother and I were the only customers in. The space is pretty decent so theres enough room to social distance. Aside from what I've stated, they sell milk tea, fruit tea,, sandwiches, and tea eggs. My brother and I decided to try the Brown Sugar Boba Soufflé Pancake. They said it would take 15 minutes to make, but took around 10 minutes. I was impressed because it took less than 15 minutes and it was cooked to perfection. Normally, it really does take 15 minutes or more depending on how many orders their trying to get done. But good job to this team! Since it was to go, they separate the Boba pearls from the pancake. I wish it was served on a plate, but it's okay! The texture was very fluffy and easy to cut through with a fork. Also, the syrup was the perfect amount of sweet. The Boba was also cooked perfectly! She knew all the regular customers and was super friendly. There is a good variety of drink options here. Today we tried the taro milk tea yummy. The boba was soft and perfect. We also got the iced rice with taro balls, mango popping boba, and pudding. So good and such an interesting dessert. It is a savory dessert which was unexpected and the best part was the chewy rice. Loved all the textures, crunchy, chewy, jelly, and popping. Every bite is a fun and different experience. We have been there a bunch of times since its right next to our favorite ox tail soup restraunt (Kapiolani Cafe). The drinks are ok and my kids like the souffle pancakes but the downside is if you order the pancakes your always waiting 15-20 minutes for it. Knowing this put my order in 45 minutes early before we went to eat. Came back at the pick up time still ended up waiting 15-20 minutes and a family that put in the same order for pancakes got theirs before ours. Staff was not apologetic or sympathetic after I asked why when we put our order in so early it was taking so long. The desserts are good not great, disappointed with the service, won't be going back again there's another good boba place with ice cream so there are definitly other options and it's way faster. I used to love this place...they had the best passion fruit teas! The lady that would help me was always nice to me. Today? That took a 360 turn! The lady who helped me, who claims is the manager and owner, was so rude when I asked if it was okay to make my drink to 50% if I didn't like it. Hubby, daughter and myself came here for drinks. The inside was cute with a few tables. I saw on the menu that they have lychee tea which is my go to everywhere. They only have one size for $5.55. Not bad. However I was a little disappointed because my drink tasted watered down. Other places, the lychee with no sugar has still flavor. The boba was soft and delicious but the drink had a slight flavor of lychee but also the ice seemed to water down the flavor. Good for me though but I would have still wanted a little flavor. I actually saw this place after I finished grocery shopping at Palama Supermarket. I came during lunch time so a boba drink for a hot day was work. So, I ordered a Lychee Tea with 50% sweetness and boba. It was so delicious! The boba was so soft and chewy. I was actually surprised that the Lychee Tea tasted this good! I figured at 50% sweetness, it wouldn't be as sweet, but it was perfectly sweetened to my taste. It was absolutely refreshing! It looked like they put bits of lychee inside too, which was great. The interior of the place is really cute, but small. It's a perfect atmosphere to enjoy drinks and pancake souffles. Now that I know the teas are amazing, I can't wait to try the pancakes. Located in Waimalu Shopping Center, Tea Spot opened in the old Aloha Crepes location. The store looks clean and the workers seemed friendly. I ordered an Oreo Milk Tea with boba and a Strawberry Soufflé Pancake. The milk tea was served quite promptly after ordering it. The Oreo milk tea had a good milk tea flavor and the boba was soft and chewy. It was a bit on the sweeter side so I wish I lowered the sweetness level but overall would order it again. It had that cheese foam topping with crumbled Oreo bits on top. The strawberry soufflé pancake was surprisingly soft and fluffy and the whipped topping was nice and airy. If you're looking for good soufflé pancakes and do not want to make the trek to town, Tea Spot is a great option for anyone who lives on the West Side. It's hard to debate if I liked Sun Tea Mix or Tea Spot's soufflé pancakes better. Both pancakes were light and fluffy. Price and portions did vary though. Sun Tea gives 2 pancakes while Tea Spot gives 3 although the size of the pancakes might differ a little for around the same price. I did notice though that they didn't offer as much milk tea options as they did fruit smoothies and tea. Charming and clean place, the workers are so friendly and greet when you enter. It's quiet and peaceful, perfect place to study. In my visit I tried their matcha milk tea and match soufflé which were both delicious! Be advise that their soufflés are made fresh and take about 15min to make but are most definitely worth it. Their portions are larger than SunTea and are worth the price. I would recommend this place for anyone coming around the Pearlridge area. Hope you guys try it out! read more

Theirs is NOT :( It wasn't even soft. It was more well done. I don't think I would get it again.. These are two of our faves - Strawberries (any kind!) and Passionfruit drink! The soufflé pancakes tastes better than it looks! The pancakes were really jiggly, bouncy, and fluffy - also not too sweet, which is a plus for me! The strawberry cream on top has a foamy creamy texture which I loved too! The chunks of fruit gave it a nice crunch in every bite. The passionfruit tea was outstanding too! They put SO MUCH passionfruit in it - you'll know they do use real fruit, not just the syrup.
