I think the black tea really takes over the entire drink with a hint of strawberry and not sweet at all. I'm sure customers who don't like sweet drinks would enjoy it, but not really for kids. read more

This cute little place had a wide variety of options on their menu. The sizing between the regular and large is a BIG difference. I wish they offered a kids size or even just a small. The drinks are reasonably priced and the establishment itself is relatively clean considering the amount of foot traffic in the area. The mango slushy and milk tea were both very tasty. Overall not bad. read more

I was at the outlet and wanted some bubble tea and saw Tea Monks. I quickly did a Yelp search and noticed they only had a 3.5 star rating so I was hesitant to try it at first but didn't want to make a few miles drive to another boba shop. After glancing thru the menu I was debating between either the Tiger Milk Tea or the Zen Thai Milk Tea. I went with the latter, per the cashier's recommendation... but it could very well be one of the worst Thai teas I've ever had. It was so bland and didn't even taste like Thai tea. Sorry to say but I think I can make better Thai tea than this and I've never even made it before. I basically paid $7 for a cup of water HA. The boba texture was alright; not the best but not terrible. Haven't tried their other drinks so I can't speak on it but I am somewhat of a boba/bubble tea connoisseur so maybe I have higher standards than others. Contemplated on getting boba or Starbucks while holiday shopping at the Carlsbad outlet and if the line is long at Starbucks- this spot doesn't disappoint! I ordered a S'mores milk tea which I believe might be a brown sugar milk tea with chocolate syrup on the side of the cup to mimic the melting chocolate of a s'more! First timer here so the cashier did suggest this drink, the tiger milk, or the Thai tea for the sweet tooth's out there. Small space and nice customer service. Got my drink super quickly. Would try more drinks from here again. read more

Today I saw they offered coffee. They had the typical froo froo explaining where the coffee beans were sourced. It was also fairly expensive. I purchased an 8 oz Cappuccino for nearly $5. The person making the Cappuccino was taking a while. She was reading notes, and the person behind me got their order first. She cleaned all the gear. Measured the exact amount using a scale. Looked like she was having trouble with the steamer. Then she was done and delivered the product in a small cup. Much smaller than one typically expects when buying coffee. I would say it was about the same amount one would get from a standard mug. ... It was the best Cappuccino I have ever had. I let it cool for 15 minutes. The froth was velvety. It had a nutty smell. Even though it was only steamed milk and espresso, it had a sweetness. The end note was chocolatey. I know how difficult it is to brew lighter roasts, and they did a perfect job extracting the flavor. Maybe I got lucky due to the circumstances, the timing, and getting it at just the right maturity of the beans. But they did a perfect execution. It was a good end to the week. read more

I got to try Tea Monks carlsbad location this weekend while indulging in some retail therapy at Carlsbad Premium Outlets If you are in Carlsbad definitely stop by and try Tea Monks and their TEA-riffic teas and bobas They are located near Nike and Coach stores Ambiance is cute , I especially like the giant baby monk mural inside the store. Walk a few feet past the green and white siren to this cute tea shop! We had the Peach Rose tea, matcha strawberry, and strawberry banana smoothie. Good natural flavors, sweetness was just right. Great friendly service, she even offered to re-make our drinks if we didn't get the flavor we were hoping for! Good offer but not necessary as all drinks were just right We stopped by Wednesday afternoon after a day a Legoland, no line when we arrived but many arrived as we left. Located in Carlsbad outlet mall towards the front! Very helpful staff that helped me find the perfect drink to satisfy my first! Also assisted me with a drink that was not riddled with sugar. Overall very satisfied with my drink and service provided. On the flip side, I wish they had some nice seating inside and outside the shop. Inside too tight for seating. I would also like to see some more unusual drink or signature drinks that would encourage me to come back! Worth a try if at the mall. read more

My husband and I stopped by as it was the closest boba spot, and we were pleasantly surprised! I got the tiger tea, which is similar to brown sugar boba, and he got an horchata smoothie. Went to legoland and really craved some boba. This place was the closest and only decent looking place around. We got the tiger sugar tea and I'd have to give it 3/5 kind of watery and flavor could've been there more. Boba was ok (super chewy). Interior was cute tho! Customer service could've been better (bland) 20min update was drinking my drink and towards the end there was a blonde hair in my drink!!! Super disgusting. read more

I have been wanting to try this place for awhile and totally stoked when I got a chance to go with my 3yo for a quick mommy daughter snack. She of course wanted ice cream from next door. So I ordered the mocha milk tea with honey boba. It's small with seating outside, but was happy I beat the crowd. As soon as we ordered and took our seats, the Legoland crowd showed up. Brought the kids here for some Boba Tea. We usually drive to Oceanside, as it's one of the better ones around. We were excited to come try Tea Monks since it's so close to our house. The menu is awesome with so many options. We ordered the apple slush, strawberry boba milk tea, honey boba milk tea, lavender boba milk tea anddddd a mango slush. All were good, however the honey milk tea La led flavor. The rest were very good. We also hit the happy hour, so the prices were great. We will probably be coming here since it's closure. read more

If you are pulling in to Carlsbad outlet mall to get a replacement for your worn out running asics, now you have a choice for your caffeine other than that Seattle based omnipresent company. The staffs recommended tiger tea and mocha. I picked mocha. Which is a bit misnomer, it tasted more like a chocolate milk for grown up (with the added coffee jelly). We also got lavender hot tea, which my wife liked and she's usually very picky about black tea. My daughter is still drinking her strawberry pop coco choco, who gave it a 10/10. read more

Great boba place. They have a shaking machine to make sure the tea is well-shaken and creamy, but not too milky. So now the boba is shaken, not stirred. The Zen Thai Milk Tea comes with a fun ring of condensed milk around the cup. Chewy boba and super friendly staff! read more

I came on a Tuesday night and this fulfilled my tea cravings. We got the açaí smoothie and the matcha strawberry drinks with jelly instead of boba. The jellies were super chewy and tasty. Went here for a quick drink after shopping. I will say the front looks relatively clean and there are many many drink and topping options. I did have to wait for someone to come to the front for a little when I got there but the worker was pretty friendly once he got there. I ordered the strawberry mango drink with lychee popping boba. It's good but it's not the best quality. I think in comparison to the tea shops that take the time for quality tea you can taste it. It is watered down here but seeing that this is the only boba tea shop around. I'll take what I can get. Cute interior though! Service is nice and it's in an outdoor mall complex. The tiny downside is that the oat milk kinda overpowers the matcha flavor. It was a nice smooth drink. We also ordered a chocolate croissant and it was good too. I was happily surprised to find this coffee shop and will definitely go back and even get coffee beans there.

It's usually open, but twice now Ive been in there where there's zero toilet paper or the paper towel dispenser is out, but someone has just put a roll on top to tear at your own will. I loved this place so I hate saying more negative than good. The drinks remain amazing, but for a spot that is so popular, it's losing some of its own charm.

The only flavor that none of us enjoyed was the strawberry rose champagne oolong tea, so when it came time for refills, we switched it to the rouge provence. For the food, there were four finger sandwiches: chicken breast, smoked salmon, cucumbers, and chopped spinach. We all liked the chicken breast one the most, and felt like the cucumbers and chopped spinach could have been combined into one sandwich for a more balanced flavor. For sweets, there was the seasonal scone, fruit tart, macaron, and donut. I loved the scone with the butter and fruit preserves, as well as the fruit tart. The service was polite, but a bit slow and we waited a while before our food arrived. There was only one person who was serving the entire afternoon tea area, so it's understandable that there's a longer wait. All in all, I would definitely come back for another afternoon tea experience!
