I've never done any sort of high tea, so I wasn't sure what to expect except that there would be tea and treats :) When we arrived, there was cutesy Bridgerton music playing in the main patio/cafe/check-in area, and jazzy 'Nawleans' type blues instrumentals in the detached patio. The detached patio was cute but the insulated plastic covering kept hitting the back of my head whenever a large gust of wind blew by. Made a reservation about a month in advance for three of us ladies by phone, and it was effortless. I called in because the online reservation system wouldn't let me book that far in advance. The gentleman who answered was kind, attentive, and made the process a breeze. The tea house itself is absolutely charming, cozy, elegant, and full of character. It's the perfect spot to dress up and indulge in a proper High Tea experience. We opted for the High Tea service, which included multiple pots of tea (two per person), perfectly baked scones served with heavenly house-made Devonshire cream, delicate finger sandwiches, a selection of French desserts, and fresh, seasonal fruit. I came here for a baby shower and it was such a cute little spot! They have an area outside as well as one long table area inside. Unfortunately it was a VERY hot summer day and the AC unit inside couldn't keep the temp down. But that was the only flaw! Tea list has GREAT teas, I liked the hibiscus one the most. And the finger foods are absolutely perfect. Yummy and beautiful presentations. I liked the cherry chicken sandwich the most! And the desserts were equally beautiful and delicious. I chose the Queen's Tea Service to treat a group for a special occasion, and it was quite the experience. I recently went to London and had a wonderful high tea service, so I thought it would be fun for others to try the same here. It turned out to be a surprisingly fun and delicious change of pace. Tea List is tucked into a beautiful alley in Davis and has such a cozy vibe. We were seated outside, and although it was a warmer day for tea, it was still lovely in the shade. One thing I will note is that while the servers were friendly, part of what made my London experience special was the guidance; explaining how to eat a scone, how to pour and steep the tea, and describing each dessert and sandwich. Here, we were left to guess a bit, which is a shame because those small details add to the magic. Still, you definitely get your money's worth with the Queen's Tea Service. We started with a refreshing arugula salad with cranberries, balsamic, and olive oil. Then out came a cheese board along with mini potato croquettes and quiches as appetizers. I had not realized all of this was included in the Queen's Tea, so it felt really special to have so many things come out. Of course, the tea itself was great (I'm no expert on good tea); but we all ordered different kinds, enjoyed multiple refills, and even got iced teas to go. I am more about the sandwiches, and all of them were excellent. They really brought me back to London, especially the curry chicken salad one. It was so flavorful I wanted a hundred more. The scones with cream and jam were another highlight. I had worried they would be dry like most American scones, but these were actually even better than the ones I had at a posh tea service in London. Tender, flaky, and absolutely delicious. The fresh fruit alongside them was a welcome touch and a nice difference from my UK experience. The other desserts ranged from okay to good, though they could use a little more variety. I enjoyed the cream puff and éclair-like pastry, but a chocolate dessert--something like a mousse--would have been a nice addition. Overall, the experience was great, worth the price, and something I would happily do again. It felt very similar to my London tea experience, and they captured it beautifully. It's a cute tucked away spot, quite small inside but there looks to be outdoor seating. Our hostess was not overly welcoming. She rushed through how to pick teas (iced vs hot) and we were all confused. It wasn't bad service but you go to high tea for it to feel a bit more special. The scones were delicious and so were the little desserts. I can't eat salmon so they had a special artichoke one for me which was nice. After my trip to London I had been missing a high tea experience and upon some Yelp search I came across this place. It's a bit pricey but you get a nice experience with some good tasting high tea small bites which makes it worthy. Lots of tea options to choose from and they accommodated us as vegetarians. That's a big plus in my book. It's a small cozy spot and takes you back to a traditional British high tea experience. Highly recommend. I brought my little one for a mommy and daughter date and we absolutely loved it. The food, the tea, and the entire experience was really great. I really appreciated how kid friendly this is. Fair warning, I have a high standard for afternoon tea, after trying at least a dozen places and seeing that there is quite a wide spread for quality, presentation, and service. I had high hopes for this place after reading the reviews, but was disappointed by the super tiny and rather meh tasting sandwiches. They must make all the sandwiches early in the day, because by the time we got our tea service, the many of the sandwiches had dried out bread. The fruit was nice, but the desserts were mediocre and plain. We did, however, really enjoy the teas. We had to wait a very long time before we were offered the second round of tea, so decided to take it to go since our food was long gone. Tea service is a nice experience, with a focus on the tea and TINY, but tasty, finger sandwiches. The Rest of the story: My wife called on a Thursday for a late afternoon, same-day, reservation for Afternoon Tea and they had availability. GPS lead us to the address where there is street parking. However, the address references the entire group of businesses in this little area, so we had to walk down the walkway, past other interesting stores, to get to the tiny tea shop. Our reservation was one of the last for the day so there were just a few people inside. There appears to be seating for about 14 inside, but there is additional space outside, in front of the shop. Everything about the decor is geared toward tea, complete with shelves of decorative teapots, canisters of various tea leaves and other decorations in the tea theme. There is a desert counter with other treat options available for your perusal. After white tablecloth was draped on the table and china cups and saucers were arranged, we were seated immediately and presented with menus for their list of available teas. Each person selects a tea and they bring it in a small pot of hot water with the loose leaves in a distiller and tiny, 5-minute sand timer. They also bring cream and sugar, with the tiniest stirring spoons I have ever seen! Along with the tea, they brought freshly-made lemon scones with berry preserves and cream. Refills of tea are included but only for the initially selected tea flavor. I would prefer an option to try a different tea upon refills. Shortly after our tea was presented, they brought a 3-tiered server with a selection of finger sandwiches, (cucumber mint, veggie garden, turkey pesto and chicken salad) and 4 miniature cheesecake bites. With the exception of the chicken salad, the other sandwiches were de-crusted sandwich bread, cut into quarters. The chicken salad was served on a miniature brioche bun. Despite our late afternoon appointment, we were able to relax and enjoy our tea and sandwiches without any pressure to cut our time short. Our server, Seleah, was very pleasant, answering all of our questions and attending to any need quickly. The presentation was excellent and my wife loved every minute of the entire experience. I had been to Celeste, In Vacaville and it was an amazing experience and wonderful and tasty. I thought it would be fun to try this place in Davis, but it was none of the above. The service is slow. The food was OK but not exceptional and I probably won't ever go there again. My friend and I thought it would be fun, but it really wasn't. I would suggest that you go to the one in Vacaville as it is amazing and this one is not so good. From my chair, I could see a person sleeping on the ground and the garden was underrated. They needed to update the planter and make sure the service was better. I almost always give a tip of at least 20% and here I gave it at 10%. It took forever to get more water. It took forever to get more coffee and the food wasn't really all that great. I really like to give good reviews but I'm sorry that one of this one is not good. read more

The only reason I am not giving Tea List a 5-star rating (yet) is because I need to go back. We came here after returning from England, and we missed our favorite meal of the day. Of course this was not going to be the same, and we think going in 100+ degree weather right after our trip made us not appreciate it as much as the pictures prove to us we had a good experience. We do want to go back and try it with more open minds. There is a variety of tea to choose from, and during the summer they even have iced tea options. Something really neat about Tea List that nowhere else we've been does is you can choose for your second pot to be either the same tea as your first pot, or to try a different tea. What a great way to explore their options! The one con the pictures do support is the scone situation. They have amazing scones, but only serve one per person (in England it is pretty much always 2 per person). If we could have had 2 each, given how delicious they were, that would have been nice. They are very generous with the sandwiches, and those were also good from what we recall. The desserts were decent, and something fun that until that point we had not seen was a fruit plate. It was refreshing and a nice complement to all the other sweets. Seating inside is limited, so you will most likely sit outside. Reservations are a must since space is limited. The location is cute in a little alleyway in downtown Davis, so you can really make a whole day of walking around downtown. If we had gone to UC Davis, I think this would have been our hangout spot when the weather was nice. I will give an update after we visit again, but in the meantime, these are my initial thoughts and pictures from a more skeptical mindset. read more

It pains me to do this. The Tea List was one of my fav places to have a cute and enjoyable moment with friends and fam. Based on my most recent visit, Im wondering if management has changed. Something is missing! The environment is still spring time pleasant. Greenery and flowers around. I wish the service and food were just as pleasant. In the past, the service always felt respectful and attentive. There was care in the preparation and placement of items. Now....it felt careless. Yep. I think thats an accurate word. There wasnt much care in our experience (and mind you, we paid for the Queen's Tea!) or in the quality of food. Now, dont get me wrong. The scones and curry chicken salad sandwiches are still very tasty! The tea selection has good variety. Aaaaand most of the other items tasted like something forgotten in an average frozen section. The salad looked like something thrown on a plate (carelessly) and we were given cocktail forks to eat it with. Tea was served without sweetener offered, and when requested, the server chose to clean off a table instead. The food was off.....the energy was off....and im left wondering.... My friends wanted to come to Tea List for a couple of birthday celebrations. We made a reservation for 4 people 2 months in advance. They seem to be a popular site for your dainty afternoon tea. This was my first time, and I was quite impressed. I thought that you had to pick one tea service for the whole table but it's actually per person which is great since everyone had different budgets. Three of us did the "high tea service" and one person did the "queen's tea service". Regardless of the service you choose, you each get two pots of tea. We each chose different flavors so we could share and try different teas. One thing to note is that the tea they have is a lot more limited than what they have online. I assume that what they have online are tea leaves that you can purchase at the store. The actually menu for dine-in tea is only a small selection which was a little disappointing. When they brought out the food, they brought them out by service types. All the "high tea service" food was on one tier and the "queen's tea service" was separate. Food is actually not bad. It was very plentiful, and the sandwiches were pretty good. I don't expect much from places that have the "aesthetic" because usually that is just compensation for high priced mediocre food. Not saying that the food is amazingly great, but it's pretty decent and then some. Honestly, I'm not much of an English tea person so most of those teas tasted the same. I'm a sucker for genmaicha though which was my favorite of everything. Service was good. I was expecting worse from the reviews on here, but they were very nice and friendly. We came a little late because parking was hard to find, but we called ahead and let them know. It was no big issue. They kept our tables clear as best they could and attended to us when we needed a creamer refill. For a first time afternoon tea experience, this is a pretty solid place to do it at. We are occasional visitors to Tea List, but hadn't been in a while when we stopped in yesterday. I love what they've done with the outdoor space. They have a shade canopy set up with dangling purple flowers and it really adds to the atmosphere. The music also adds excellent ambiance. We had high tea with no reservation and no wait. The waitress was eager and helpful while leaving us space to enjoy at leisure. The tea was excellent and reminded me that part of the joy of tea is slowing down to fully enjoy the flavors and experience. The sandwiches were lovely and light and plentiful that we could have been well full if we'd come in hungrier ( we had a few to take home and look forward to enjoying them) the desserts and fruit were perfect. We had to wait 20 minutes before we were given the tea menu, took another 30 minutes to get our first set of tea. Then after 1 hour, we had to ask when the food was going to be served...took another 15 minutes to get the food. We watched other people that arrived after us get faster service for tea and food. We came for an early mother's day gathering and the service we received ruined the celebration. All the food came out in one 3-tier platter even when there were 6 of us. Food came in a timely manner. We appreciated the tea recommendations from our server and we loved the bourbon street vanilla tea and ended with the organic hibiscus (so refreshing)! We probably will pass on the four season oolong next time (wasn't as tasty as the others). We got a (2) 3-tier filled top tier- sliced fruits, middle tier - variety of desserts (delicious), and bottom tier was all the mini sandwiches bites. (Curry chicken sandwich was my FAV!) started off with salad, scones, pastries and a cheese board platter before the tier of food came.. PLENTY of food for us 5! We had to take the rest home! Sunday afternoon called to inquire about vegan vegetarian tea service options. They answer the phone. We're very pleasant informing me. They can accommodate with one day to 24 hour advance notice of special dietary menu request requests and restrictions. Dropped in later in the day to see what they had in the way of a Takeaway cup of tea or pastry items out of the pastry case. On a Sunday afternoon only one item left and it was not vegan. We could get a warm cup of tea to go, however. Places tiny and has a selection of cute ceramic tea pots for in dining room service. It was a large group of ladies along table who were seemingly having a wonderful time. Away in the back of a quiet nook on a main street in Davis. Easy to find fairly easy free parking. Not a great option for walk-in and short notice unless all you want is a hot cup of tea to go. For those who have one day or more for reservations and advanced planning, it looks like a really nice option. Friendly Informative service. Maybe next time. I was here a long time ago at this location with former First Ladies (with reservations, of course) and have fond memories, but sadly they could not accommodate two ladies walking in who just wanted tea and vegan scones. I've been here throughout the years. I used to go with my gal friends in college for our girlie bonding dates. And I usually take my sister here for her birthday. The owner always remembers us. I've ordered by the menu and by the tea service. It's best to make a reservation and order a tea service since they specialize in and prioritize it. If you try to do a walk-in, they will not always have availability for you. I would not order a cheese plate from here... but maybe they can do a collab with Mabel's Farm Box, wouldn't that be something special? The scones with cream and berry preserves are heavenly. My sister and I love the long island strawberry green tea, and then we'll always try a new tea. I used to LOVE the petit fours here. They were so much better than the ones at Ettore's Bakery. Unfortunately it looks like they are no longer selling petit fours with their assorted pastries and desserts. Now the desserts are a little bit disappointing. The fruit assortment is a nice touch. The sandwiches are filling and are a nice pairing, but nothing special on it's own. Overall Tea List is an experience. Go here to enjoy the elegant tea party vibes. This would be a great place to take your mom out for her birthday. Sit outside because it is more aesthetic. They have umbrellas and fans if needed. I was disappointed with this place. We've been trying to get a chance to come here for an afternoon tea. My niece was turning 8 years old and she wanted a tea party. We've decided to host a tea party for her birthday. We had the patio dinning area which was amazing. The kiddos can be a loud as they wanted to and they took turns sitting around the benches. They had an amazing time. The only reason why I will not be returning, is because we were limited with the amount of tea pots on the table. So the adults had to share tea pots. No one checked up on us during the time we were there. We had to ask for refills and switch out tea pots as the waitress came to drop off items or when one of the staff escort the customers to the bathroom. Also, I had better sandwiches from other tea rooms than this one. The kids didn't have much options on their platter. Maybe you get a better experience when you dine in their front porch or inside their shop. read more

My sister had her bridal shower done here in April 2024, her experience was a different then mine. The Tea list hosted it at the mustered seed. Because of the large head count, 21 of us ladies. The place was elegant, the staff allowed the bridesmaids to decor the room to our liking. The tea was so delicious! Although I just wish there was more vegan options. My mother later complained about, the expensive experience for the lack of time given. My mother said, for just a little bit of bites of snacks, it's expensive but the tea was good. But WAY over priced, she wasn't happy and the experience felt rushed. Some of the bridesmaids and attendees were complaining about the staff. How one of the hostesses, a younger gal. I don't recall a name, was rude the bridesmaids stated. When asked where the bathroom was. The hostess said, in a rude tone " I've already showed where the bathroom is, I won't keep telling where it's at." My sister had a little over a few bottles of champagne, and why wasn't it kept on ice? However !! I would like to go back to the Tea list to have a more comfortable relax time. Not sure that I'm impressed with this place. Made reservations here about 6 weeks in advance for a table of 5 for the afternoon tea service. I made reservations for outdoors however they had us sitting indoors. The place in general is extremely small. Tables are very very close together. The location of this place is hard to find it's behind other businesses so you really have to look for it. They had the table set up super cute with tea menus placed. Once all guest arrived we were brought out scones and had our tea order taken. We were able to choose 3 different teas. Nothing super special about their tea in my opinion but it was nice and paired well with the food. The food didn't seem like it was enough for 5 but it was filling. There were several small tea sandwiches that were all different and pretty tasty. The desserts were pretty small and were assorted. All in all I don't feel the food or experience was worth the price of $148 for 5 people but it was an experience. The service was fast and they didn't rush us out of our seats. We were able to sit and enjoy as long as we liked. I ordered tea to go for &16.50 for 2oz that I thought was insane but got it anyways to take home to my husband to try. The lady who I think could've been the manager that took my to go tea order didn't have change so instead only gave me some of my change and said sorry I don't have the rest. Totally confused by this I told her I wanted my full change back or add more tea to the bag. It was super weird but she found change finally and gave it to me. The other thing is, when you order tea to go they don't provide tea bags which I thought was odd since all their tea is loose leaf. Thankfully the lady who took my order gave me some bags to go. Another thing if you have your go to the bathroom while being here it's horrible. Thru share a bathroom with some office building that is a distance away and only has one stall! It's awful! I would not come back here for their tea service but maybe just to try their regular weekday menu. read more

So many feeling about our experience. We booked our reservation one month in advance and requested outdoor seating.... However, we get there and are told that we have been given indoor seating. Even when we were called to confirm our reservations we were not informed that they could not accommodate our indoor request. We felt like we were eating prison style, uncomfortable, hot and staff hovering behind us, but not checking on us, no water or refills even though there were many of us. With staff aplenty not one of them checked on us ever! The food and initial tea was delivered and then crickets, except the staff gathering behind us to converse amongst themselves. The food was not our favorite. The beef Wellington puff was very good though. With so much bread, carbs, sweets... be careful cause you will not have enough lubrication in your mouth to enjoy the experience. Finally, the nerve to include a 20% tip to the bill, without notice or posting about that policy. read more

The food is amazing, the staff are very sweet and the location and ambiance is the best I've been too! HIGHLY RECOMMEND the TEA LIST!
