#23 review for 2019. Flavor: Ordered the fresh watermelon juice as it was on special. They do not anything to it unless requested. It was refreshing and sweet enough on its own. I normally can't resist an egg puff but was too full from dinner. Next time, I'm going to try their egg puff for $4. You can also buy sweet and savory snacks that are on display in the center of the establishment. Ambiance: It is very inviting with various seating areas and cute decor - aesthetically pleasing and relaxing. Value: The special for the evening was a large fresh watermelon juice was, I think, $3.50 (from 5 pm to 9 pm) and the regular price is, I think, $4.25. Tea Cafe is so underrated! They take your order and give you your drink at the door, with a table blocking the doors entrance- seems maybe a safety hazard but not a customers problem haha. The bobarista was approachable, sweet toned and quick to service! She was bustling back and forth between the register and the back where they made the drinks. I appreciated her hard work and consistent politeness! The boba itself was SO yummy. I got a small wintermelon milk tea that came out to $4.50. Little pricey, but I found it hit the right spot! The wintermelon was perfectly sweet, but not too sweet. It wasn't too tea like, and wasn't too milky. The boba was not too squishy and not too hard, someone definitely knew how to make it right back there! It was a littttttle sweeter than I prefer for boba, but I'm never against a little extra sugar. First time here. Got the signature milk tea with regular boba. The tea was well made. It was an even flavor of milk and tea and I like that. The boba was perfect and not soggy at all(I'm really picky about boba). I would of gave 5 stars but the paper straw didn't work well with the plastic covering on the cup and broke. Very relaxing place while I was waiting for a meeting. I ordered the fresh watermelon juice which was made from chunks of watermelon blended with water as far as I could tell. Really good, didn't know it was what I needed but hit the right note for me. Milk tea, juices, shakes, smoothies, regular teas, ice cream and coffee. Some dessert offerings and many packaged Asian snacks also for sale. I like how they have the drink sealing machine like at the places I used to go to in Taiwan. Guys, this means skinny jeans, t-shirt (preferably pastel with Asian language characters, or a cute cartoon animal with big eyes) a brown, conservative hoodie and sneakers. 2. Always bring your girlfriend. Don't have a girlfriend? Just pretend you are with the group of girls in front of you. it helps with the authentic ambience. 3. Always hold your mobile. Don't look at it, just hold it and move it between your hands. 4. Listen closely and prepare to repeat what the person in front of you has ordered. It goes something like this: "I'll have a Hong Kong size winter melon, hazelnut, vanilla tea with chocolate milk and strawberries, plus extra boba, less sweet with 30% more sugar". Ignore any confusion on the part of the counter person. They are probably shocked at your milk tea prowess. 5. Pay by card not Apple pay and never cash. Act like you care and take your reward points. You're worth it baby! Bottom line, while their teas aren't that special, currently lacking any fresh fruits, specialty base teas or wide assortment of jellies and puddings, what they make is solid. Props to the Thai Tea smoothie 50% sweet, loaded with caffeine. Different, but satisfying egg waffle. Made fresh (takes approximately five minutes), served hot. The aroma makes you salivate. Crisp edges but much chewier than expected (perhaps more tapioca flour and less custard flour than the traditional recipe resultuing in more gluten). Well-controlled sweetness. I come here often because my son loves boba tea. There are many options here from fresh fruit smoothies to a fancy ube boba tea drink. Everything we've had was delicious and fresh. The ladies that run the store are always helpful, patient and friendly. Parking is often usually plentiful when we go in the early afternoon. I do regular sweetness and it's not too sweet, not too bitter. I've tried Brown sugar milk tea, oolong milk tea, coffee milk tea and Hong Kong milk tea and every thing is delicious!! Since COVID, they've only done take out and it's usually only the female owner taking and fulfilling orders but she's always nice and sweet and services are pretty fast considering it's just her! Lots of drinks to choose from. Prices are reasonable for the amount that you get. My go to is a peach smoothie w/ lychee Boba. Ivy & Janice are super nice & patient. They do phone orders & I believe a good delivery service as well. They even have some snacks you can buy. It's still take out only but understandable w/ everyone still adjusting from the pandemic.
