Pastor Tacos with house made salsas
Roxanne M.

I highly recommend this restaurant The food and service quality was truly exceptional, I can't wait to come back. The Pastor Tacos was particularly my favorite, great salsa Verde, and spicy red salsa that added to the amazing flavor of the tacos. Tony, the new owner, paid a visit to my table to ensure all was up to standard. The restaurant, bathroom, and kitchen were super CLEAN! Although I do not drink alcohol the bar customers seemed to enjoy their margaritas and beer. I highly recommend this gem. 2 minutes off of HWY 620 down Hudson Ben Road.

Combo plate

An upgrade from "The bell"... slightly. Gourmet...definitely not. I order the combo plate and left half the food on the plate. The rice was by far the worst Spanish rice I've ever had. It had a slight bit of yellow color, which should have been indicative that it wasn't going to be flavorful. But nothing could prepare me for what I put in my mouth. Not tasty! And it had peas in it. Where they do that at?! My quesadilla was solid cheese. The flauta was hard as rock but tasty. The taco, beans, and the tostada carried the whole plate. My cousin liked her steak street tacos. The staff was nice. Seemed like the neighborhood watering hole and everyone was happy, besides me. So for that they receive 3 stars.

Great food and service. The owner, Tony stopped and visited to make sure our food and service were amazing! Among his 20+ years of working in and operating very successful restaurants he has brought with him genuine San Antonio's "puffy tacos" just like I enjoyed growing up in SA. Very casual and comfortable environment with excellent food and drinks! If you live in the Lakeway or surrounding area, stop in and check out your new favorite Mexican restaurant.

Migas and Fajitas
 Refried Beans & Potatoes

We were headed to Texas Toast for breakfast, but it was too crowded, so we saw Te'Kilas in the same strip. It was open for breakfast, so we had migas with fajitas and fajita omelet. Both had refried beans and potatoes and tortillas. We were served chips and 2 salsas - both of which were excellent. My omelet was delicious - fluffy, cheesy and topped with chunks of fajita meat. The migas and fajitas were also very good according to my husband, although he put salsa on the migas for added flavor. I saw on the menu that they serve empanadas, too, which are hard to find, so I will order those next time. Service was excellent, staff were attentive and friendly, and the restaurant interior was very comfortable and attractive. There is a bar and TV and also an outdoor patio as well. We look forward to visiting again.

Queso was solid - liked the jalapeños

Took me a year to get over here to try this place out but it won't take me that long to come back! Amazing queso-birria tacos, great drinks, nice neighborhood vibe, and friendly service. This is in the spot that Don Mario's started years ago, and reminds me of what I used to love about that place - family run and food served with a lot of heart. Highly recommended.

Dragon Mojito
Courtney K.

Happy to have stumbled upon this place. The dragon mojito and street tacos did not disappoint! My only complaint was the service. We sat at the bar and were the only ones in the restaurant. The server was not attentive, and we had to flag her down when our drinks were empty and then again to order food.

As I was leaving my hotel I bumped into some coworkers outside and mentioned I was heading here for dinner. A person passing by overheard me and stopped to rave about how they're the best tacos you can get in Texas. The speakeasy feel was awesome and relatively easy to find despite this being my first visit to Austin. I had the carne asada tacos and they were delicious. I also ordered a side of chips and salsa but my weak tastebuds embarassingly couldn't handle the spice. Seating was limited but I was carrying out anyways. Will definitely return when I'm back in Austin!

Go through another door, and you'll find a small dining area and a hallway with a sign showing you where to order. After you place your order, they'll give you a ticket. Be sure to hand the ticket to one of the cooks; otherwise you won't get your food. We got the carne asada tacos, adobada (pastor) taco, and carne asada volcan. Everything was seriously delicious, rich, and flavorful. The meat was juicy and tender, and they were very generous with the portions. If all the seats inside are taken inside the restaurant, you can dine in the bar area or outside in the alley. This taco speakeasy spot is so good, we came back the next day with our friends. We will definitely be back in the future!

I ordered 2 steak tacos and horchata, both very delicious. The horchata is milky and sweet but not crazy sweet, and topped off with cinnamon. The steak tacos came out pretty hot, fresh from the grill. I got them on corn tortillas and I'm glad I did: idk if they make them in house but somebody in some house is making these because they definitely aren't store bought, and if they are I want to know where! I tried the orange habanero and creamy serrano salsas. The habanero was spicy off the bat, while the serrano had more of a lingering burn. Both paired well with the steak. They have a little bar, too, though I did not imbibe this time. Seems like they have a decent selection of agave spirits, and even Campari behind the bar (iykyk). Give them a shot, and thank the ladies in the kitchen.
