I come here specifically for their breakfast as it is the only place closer to the east side of SGV. Though it is the only Hong Kong cafe in El Monte, their food is fresh and porridge texture is consistent. We always get the porridge combos and get some orders togo. The only thing is they got rid of their cheung fun aka the rice rolls and we miss it so much. Wish they brought it back! Short on staff/service but everything else runs well. Plenty of parking within the plaza!

We went on a Sunday night and it was a bit busy. Food was good for most part. We had the crispy noodles with gravy and chicken and bok choy. The gravy was saltier than other cafes. We got a free order of fried whole shrimp cause we ordered a lot. They also gave us fries while we waited. We also got the pork knuckle with peanuts in sauce. That was tender and tasty. Also we ordered the duck with bao bread and lettuces wrap. That was pretty good as well. Our meal took over 2 hours. For a cafe that's not great. Overall I would recommend this place but not for a quick bite. The food was good but can take a while when they are busy. Service was good but you might have to flag down your server when it's busy. Plenty of parking in the parking lot.

Based on my experience with the take out and food here, place was decent. Closer to my house is a Chinese cafe which I didn't know they opened for a while now. Located in a strip mall on Lower Azusa, there are other businesses here. I came here for take out and waited for a bit for my order. Knew it would take a while since there were some tables filled. I paid and waited but the staff were nice. I ordered their soy sauce chicken and bbq pork along with rice as well as a baked pork chop with spaghetti. The soy sauce and bbq pork wasn't too bad. Comparable with like Sam Woo and other places. The baked pork chop with spaghetti was ok though as I've definitely had better elsewhere. Plenty of cheap but the taste was different to me. Been hesitant to come back but I'll try their dine-in experience and other food next time I come back.

Rating: 3.5 Stars Background On Visit: Mom wanted to try out a new place that she noticed when she was driving on Lower Asuza. Deals: They have special lunch/dinner items that comes with rice for $11.99. Restrooms: They're available Credit Cards: They're accepted. Location/Parking: Located in the Midway Plaza. Home of Pho LTK, Midway Bowling Lanes, BOFA, and Crispy Fluffed... to name a few. Parking can be found in the shared lot. Just be mindful not to park next to the light post or palm trees. When you come back, you might have presents left by the friendly birds. Ambiance/Decor: Place look small from the front, but when you step inside, it's gets bigger. Neat ambiance with modern furnishings. They have a decent amount of chairs and tables to sit on. Service: Service was okay. Didn't really ask for a lot of things Food Of Choice: 1) French Style Fish Fillet: Mmmmmmm.... a little crisp on the edges and soft in the interior. The onions and red/green bell peppers that accompanied the dish were very good. 2) Eggplant with garlic: Be mindful that it's a bit spicy. Then again... this is coming from a person that can't really take spice. So ask for less spice if you're a weak sauce with spice. 3) Baked pork chop: This was a good one also. Pork chop was decent and loved the sauce/cheeeese! 4) Ginseng and chicken soup: Ginseng and chicken soup for the soul. Mmmmm.... warms the tummy. TD Cafe For Thought: Would definitely come back and try more items on their menu. They're hk breakfast options sounds uber great also.

Good place for decent priced lunch/dinner specials. As far as taste it was ok, not much to rave abour. Lemon ice tea was on the sweeter side. Service is hit or miss depending on how busy it is. Restaurant is spacious and there are some large tables availabke if you're planning to dine with a bigger group.

First time eating here and likely the last. Service is really bad at this restaurant. The waiter did not know if certain dishes were available or not. When we asked for refills on drinks, the waiter sighed and rolled his eyes. The food was alright, we ordered several dishes and for the most part, they all came out in a fair amount of time. However there were 2 dishes that were really delayed and each time we asked for an update, the waiter would say it's coming out. There was also a promo where if you spend X amount, they give you a pineapple buns. We had to ask several times for ours.... Just overall a bad experience. If you frequent these Asian cafes this is the norm unfortunately.

I love HK style cafes/restaurants. Whenever a new one is available, my face will be present Hahh I have been here twice now. I received great customer services both times. I heard it could be chaotic and unorganized...I guess it is best to go on weekdays around 5pm. I went around that time for both visits. Pretty empty. My fav was definitely the complimentary pineapple buns w/butter. Ohmyyygawdd..so fresh and yummy lol The first time I was here, I really enjoyed the half order of ducks. It was so fresh, juicy, and meaty. That made me wanted to visit again. The greens were fresh as well. Second visit..ordered the whole duck. It was too skinny and mainly fats. Which was a disappointment..we also received the complimentary buns Yay! We were told that every $30 gets you a free one now-_- quite a lot? Lol We decided to go with the $11.99 lunch/dinner specials. We got the garlic eggplants and fried pork chops. Both were yummy. Each dish came with rice. I saw a breakfast menu. I might return to try their breakfast. Hopefully, I won't encounter such a huge crowd lol I would like a quiet breakfast while listening to their Chinese songs hehhe

Newest HK cafe to open up in the 626. I was super excited to learn that there was a HK cafe super close to home. I actually tried TD Cafe three times (once take out & twice in house). My first time when I called in my order the staff had difficulties understanding what I was saying and asked if I spoke Chinese. Which I do not so that made ordering a bit difficult. I was trying to go off of the menu images I saw on Yelp to place my order. My second and third time, were both dinner time and food came out at a decent pace but staff took forever to take our order or even pay us any attention. It was a lot of flagging down staff. Staff are slow, and you gotta make sure that they give your order correctly. Both times they forgot our rice that came with the meal. The third time we came they gave one free butter pineapple bun. Ordered: *Beef Chow Mein (Crispy)- you need sriracha for this to give it the extra flavor but overall it gets the job done. *Rib eye steak- great meat texture. first time it was made perfectly medium as requested. the second time, it was on the raw side, so we had to flag down a staff to ask them to cook it again. both times they forgot the rice that comes with it. *walnut shrimp- this was one of the worst walnut shrimps ever. it was too sour and way too saucey. it was really hard to eat. i do not recommend it at all. *2 item bbq plate (duck & bbq pork belly - these two bbq option was an extra charge). but i enjoyed both items. luckily they didn't run out of the bbq meats. *lemon ice tea- tasted good, just like all of the other HK cafes. *beef and broccoli- this is a safe order, they made this one perfectly. my kids had no complaints. Would I come back here? Only if I am truly lazy to drive further out to get a HK cafe fix. They aren't super packed but I have to say that be prepared to spend more than an hour here. Service is just that slow. I tried asking one of the staff a question but he didn't understand English, so I had to try and hunt down another staff which took a long time. I kept staring at staffs and wave my hand but they like do not see me at all. Always looking elsewhere. My third visit, they had a lot of dishes on the table uncleaned after customers have left. To seat us, they had to clean a table to do so. Which I also had to wait, so as you can see there is a lot of waiting happening. I do hope that they get better at paying attention to their customers and hire more staff. Lastly, prices are pretty average. Tips: *Shared parking lot with other businesses. (Wow Cow Korean BBQ, action lanes, bank of america, pho LTK, etc.) *Credit card accepted. *Restroom available. *Place is spacious and they have big round tables that can hold big parties.

Tasty food for a good price, there's dishes for $11.99 even for dinner and comes with rice. Went on a Saturday night and it was packed! Came early so didn't have to wait for a table but felt sorry for the waiters as they looked limited in number. They managed to get the orders in and food still came out in a decent time. The fish maw soup was not up to par, a bit too much thicker and flavor was on the mild side. I have to give credit I did see real pieces of crab and it was improved with a bit of red vinegar. Beef chow fun was probably their best dish I ate that night along with the ribs. Not bad for the price but if you come prime dinner time except a wait for table and food.

Baked chicken. Came out differently than I expected but was unexpectedly good.

I love to go to Chinese cafe, aka Hong Kong style cafes because they have so many things on the menu. Noticed this one recently opened. So I tried for lunch one day and had to bring my friend for dinner last week. Food was pretty good and so was the service. I like the fact that there is plenty of parking. I definitely will be coming back.

Came on a thursday night and there was no wait. Very spacious environment and vibes were typical of a traditional chinese restaurant. A good selection of dishes were 11.99 and came with rice which is a good deal and hard to find nowadays. The egg and shrimp was good but portion size was a little small. minced meat with rice was solid. string beans had a good flavor and were prepared very well. Also appreciated the complimentary dessert that came with dinner- taro tapioca with sesame. Would come again to try other different dishes. Parking was plentiful in a big plaza.

Dry mushroom with chicken and coconuts. Taste amazing. It is a Cantonese style soup.
    Bonnie T.

I ordered dinner x 2 combo to go. The food portion is big and enough for three people. Taste is very good and close to Hongkong style. The soups are amazing. Definitely it should be their signature on the menu. The price is reasonable. Overall, the restaurant is pretty clean, including the restroom. The concern is the slow service. Since so short of staff, no matter how hard the staff try to serve customers, the service is still slow.

Sometimes I'm in full agreement with the Yelp ratings. Currently at 3.5, this describes my experience. I can't seem to round up to 4. TD Cafe is fairly new. Located in the middle of a plaza in El Monte, they're already wildly popular. I wouldn't describe this as an actual cafe. More of a seafood / HK style restaurant. Menu ranges from market price seafood, to your ubiquitous rice plates with chicken or pork chop, bbq items (which they seem to stop offering some already) and their lunch/ dinner specials at a low price, $12 a plate. I suspect this is what draws the huge crowd. That's what got us to come too. We were naive to arrive at 11am on a Sunday. The wait was 30 minutes for a table, and that's because a party before us gave up waiting and left. We placed our orders as soon as we sat down: Sautéed string beans. Compared to some other places, these were just OK. It was served with strips of pork and a slightly tangy but spicy sauce. 3/5 Deep fried pork chop in spicy salt. Hot, crispy and delicious. Mostly lean and meaty pieces and nicely seasoned. 4.5/5 French style filet of cod. Also delicious. Served deep friend and tossed in a mildly spicy sauce. A slightly bit on the salty side but pairs well with rice. 4.5/5 Chili pepper beef: Remember that vintage 80's commercial, "Where's the beef!?" Yep, that's it. Mostly onions and peppers for color. The beef slices we got were overcooked and tough. 2/5 Spam and egg sandwich w/ fries. I could've easily made this at home, but it's ok. Nothing special. 3/5 Pineapple buns: I asked for the butter to be on the side. It came inside the bun, but they were served warm and so soft. After trying it, I still prefer it w/o butter. 4/5 The setup: Larger, family sized tables are towards the back of the restaurant. Smaller tables, 2 or 4 seaters are closer to the entrance. The ambiance: Pure chaos. Many Chinese folks are probably used to this but can be intimidating to others. The place is loud and you need to be aggressive to get a number, to get your table, place your order and to get servers' attention. It doesn't mean to be obnoxious, just don't be timid. They could've hired more staff, that way the tables turn over much quicker. Customers will be happier they got fed, people waiting won't stand around blocking everyone else, and higher turnover means more business for the restaurant and tips for the servers. The 'lively' vibe did not make for a relaxing meal. It was chaotic and stressful as people crowded near our table hounding the hostess, and the staff clearing the tables often had to yell 'excuse me!' Maybe after some time, the hype will die down a bit. Maybe not. But if you want to come, be mentally prepared. Side Note: They're able to reserve a table for large parties of 8-10. There's a station around the corner of the hostess counter near the entrance. There, you can get your own to-go boxes, utensils, straws, plates and napkins. It's faster than trying to flag someone down.

We were…read moreable to call ahead earlier in the morning and ask if we could be on the wait list or reserve a table. They told us they could reserve a table for us at 6pm. We originally were hoping for 7 or 7:30, but based on how busy and popular this place is I can see why they said no. Come early and get seated right away and there's still ample parking in their parking lot. By the time we left at 7:30p, the lot was packed and people circling around hoping to snag a spot from folks leaving. The restaurant is pretty large and has about 3 rooms with different size tables and booths. No matter the size of your party, there's a table that will accommodate. The staff were very nice and attentive and FAST! We had our food out probably 15 min after we put in our order! Now...on to the food. We ordered one of the set menus for our party of 7 and it was spot on! As you can see in the pictures we had all the "classics". Our set meal could easily be enjoyed by at least 10 people. We had so many leftovers! The food was all well prepared and sufficiently seasoned. Portions of each dish was plentiful and everyone will be able to get enough to satisfy. My favorite items: lobster (duh!), kung pao chicken, pork chops, and shaking beef. The seafood soup is a great starter, and don't forget to add a little vinegar and pepper! Great restaurant in the SGV. This location is much bigger than their Rowland Heights restaurant, but the food is exactly the same. This is a great alternative to the popular Newport Seafood, so don't sleep on this place!

Came at 530 pm on a tuesday, and there wasen't anyone here yet. Afterwards it filled up quickly!! The main thing I dont like about this place is they dont have the prices on what your ordering. Which I'll get too at the end. Like any other Chinese restaurant, their menu is super extensive. I love how they have a little bit of everything. And its very well organized too. We ordered the following: 1. Crab and fish maw soup- this soup was amazing. It was just the right temp. Got me sweating. Can easily feed 12 people. Great amount of maw. The consistency is just right. Tasted so good!! 2. Small lobster special- on a bed of noodles. It was about 5 lbs. Cooked well. Could do without. Basically flavors. And it was expensive!! About $30 a lb. So this one dish cost basically the same amount as all the other dishes. Which was just too much. If I knew it was that much I would definitely not have ordered it. 3. Walnut shrimp- not the best walnut shrimp I've had. But it was ok. 4. Garlic shrimp- this shrimp dish was ok. Too many bell peppers and onions. It was just ok. 5. Mongolian beef- flavors were not that great. Very tender though. Could've been better. 6. Sea trout- this was amazing!! I love the sauce. Fish was so soft and tender. The heat, the spice, the sweetness. Some of that sauce in white rice was just perfection. It was really really good. Best dish of what we ordered. 7. Kung pao chicken- this was a really good dish. Crispy bits of chicken. But so soft and tender inside. I love the sauce that it was in. It was by far one of the highlights of the meal. It was good food. Price for everything (except the lobster) was pretty good. Food tasted amazing for the most part. Typical Chinese customer service. Pay at the front. Massively large portions. Solid authentic Chinese food.

I found out later, the owners had changed, in 2022. Fresh new owners, comes with freshly improved taste. This is a nice little mom and pop restaurant. My wife and I went crazy with the menu, especially for 2 people. Every dish was cooked better than the last time we ate here. We added another item (whole roast duck), but it's not photographed. We ate the duck at home. It was very tasty. A must try! The Beef in Spicy Broth was a new item on the menu, and so was the Fish in Spicy Broth. They are a great new additions. With both dishes having the right amount of spicy kick, my stomach didn't have to remind me of my life choices later. That was the best part. (If you had these dishes at other Sichuan restaurants, you know what I meant.) We will definitely be back at this restaurant, when I'm in town for work. Give this place a try and you won't regret it!!!

Decided to check it out and made it in time for their lunch special (until 4PM every day including…read moreweekends). It looks family owned and the service was fast. They give a good amount of food. I got a half portion of the roasted duck and I like that it does have a lot of meat on it, flavor was good. The orange chicken comes with the sauce on the side. Next time, will try other items on their lunch menu.

The ham & egg was done just right, giving that nostalgic HK café vibe. The dry shrimp rice noodle was silky soft with dry shrimp inside and paired perfectly with the soy sauce. And the pineapple bun with butter? Warm, fluffy, slightly crispy on top, with that thick slice of butter melting inside... so good. If you're looking for a solid spot for a casual, comforting meal, this place definitely delivers. Will be back for sure!

(It's probably because they close at 9 PM, and I tend to crave canto food late at night.) The prices are pretty fair/average. I didn't see any lunch specials when I was here for lunch. The chang fun (rice noodle roll) was good. I got the shrimp + leek one, but I think beef might have been the better choice. The seafood congee was also really good with plenty of seafood. Servers spoke Mandarin, Cantonese, and English. I would come back to try the claypot dishes. However, if you want to try something a little different, there are some "traditional" Kaiping specialties that I haven't seen on menus anywhere else. I've always come with my family and have received great service because my dad knows the staff. They speak my home dialect so I'm sure there's some bias there. Foodwise, I've tried quite a bit and haven't had any dishes that didn't hit the mark for me. Standouts for me are the big claypot yellow eel rice, their specialty roast goose (the 2 dishes just listed may require a preorder but again, my dad usually handles all the ordering), their beansprout with pig intestine, and their egg plant with salted fish. The claypot rice is ordered by the kilo so really is a big party dish but has nice succulent pieces of eel, really well cooked rice, and then of course the crispy rice at the bottom. The goose is very flavorful and not super gamey, it has more of a meaty texture and bite than the younger poultry an American pallette may be used to so word of warning. I really like the beansprout with pig intestine, again not really gamey but very savory with very tender, fatty pieces of intestine (highly recommend even if you're hesitant with intestine). The eggplant with salted fish is also intensely savory with a pungency from the salted fish that may seem like a lot but melds really well with the sauce and overall flavor of the dish. Though I haven't tried every dish on their menu, I've tried quite a bit and can confidently say they'll bring out some tasty Chinese dishes.

When walk in, there is enough tables on the side to sit down but the service is always warm and nice. I also like to order the house special (soup) style dumplings that are pork filled even though I generally don't eat pork, these dumplings are ground pork and delish and what you would want in a juicy dumpling. The dumpling soup 7/10 I'm not much of a Szechuan flavor girl. I do like it but I don't like it being drenched in it so much. Basically, watch out for the numbness and spiciness in this dish, although the lady taking my order did try to forewarn me by asking for my spice levels before hand. (: otherwise, great choices and great fix for Chinese cuisine! I always seem to order to go so I don't have any pics to attach to this review, but I hope to return soon to update my review.

We arrive around 2pm and there was no wait. You order off a form and the food arrives quickly because they have most of it pre-made and ready for take out in the back. Here are my thoughts on the following: - har gow: decent and STUFFED with shrimp - siu mai: super juicy and probably the best siu mai I've ever had - shrimp rice roll: decent, nothing to write home about - ham sui gok (deep fried meat dumpling): good, but not as airy as I like them, but still good - soy sauce chow mein: super bland - egg tarts: one of them was perfect, the other two were too runny like they hadn't been set properly, but the custard was sweet and balanced perfectly with the flaky crust - egg yolk bun: my bf really liked these, but I thought the filling was a tad too grainy for my liking All in all, I was pretty impressed with Ocean Bo and would recommend.
