Came back to U2 Cafe again and had another really enjoyable meal! This time I went with the chicken (with bone) congee and soy sauce stir-fried noodles. The chicken congee really hit the spot. I personally like bone-in chicken (U2 used white meat which is my personal favor) because I feel like it gives the congee more flavor, and this one had that comforting, home-style taste I was looking for. The congee was smooth and flavorful, and the chicken went really well with it. Definitely the kind of food I enjoy when I'm craving something simple and comforting. The soy sauce stir-fried noodles were actually the surprise of the meal. I've had them here before, but this time I honestly thought they tasted better! The noodles had more of that nice wok-fried flavor, and the soy sauce seasoning was just right -- flavorful without being too salty or too heavy. I kept going back for another bite even though I already had the congee. Sometimes a simple dish like soy sauce noodles is all about how well it's cooked, and they did a really good job this time. Service was another plus. Everyone was attentive and polite, and I never felt rushed. They checked on us when needed but also gave us plenty of time to enjoy the meal. Overall, I left very satisfied. The chicken congee gave me exactly that comforting HK-style meal I was craving, while the soy sauce stir-fried noodles ended up being my favorite dish this time. Really happy that they tasted even better than I remembered. I'm surprised I've never visited this Hong Kong-style cafe before! A GOOD HK Cafe should blend Hong Kong and Western cuisines seamlessly. The Hong Kong Milktea was decent. The tea flavor was noticeable, and I could control the sweetness by adding condensed milk myself. The wonton noodles were average. The wontons were below average, and the whole bowl was just a meh. I really enjoyed the crunchiness of the toast with peanut butter. Overall, this will be added to my list of Hong Kong restaurants. I will definitely try other items next time! read more

Classic HK cafe I've been going while growing up. My comfort food of baked chicken steak on fried rice and seafood chow mein. Good tomato sauce on the fried rice with some melted cheese on top of the chicken steak. The seafood chow mein has a tasty gravy and crispy edges. Lemon iced tea is refreshing and comes with refill. 09/19/2025 We used to order food from here, it was pretty good until yesterday. Filet Mignon Cubes Black Pepper Sauce was very tough to chew. And the Pork Chop was spoiled before it was cooked so into the trash it went. My wife's noodle dish wasn't very good either. Our Fish Filet with Vegetables were mostly vegetables-Where's the Fish?????? The only dish they didn't screw up was my Sweet & Sour Pork. This was the last we're ordering from this place. Old school American Chinese HK diner. No James Wang place mats used here. They have downsized as the BBQ side seating has closed. However the diner side is opened offering all the U2 standards. U2 is well known for Hong Kong BBQ and Roasted Meats. The Sui Yuk and Sui Up is their specialty. Note to the owners please add your HK French Toast with sausage or ham or spam and coffee as a Breakfast Set. Another good selling point HK egg waffle is on menu. Their coffee is hot, robust and refillable as are all their beverages. Friendly service, attentive and consistent. The ambiance has the throwback of the 80s. Booths, and table seating is available, bright dining room. You can say it's a bit dated, but once you step in, its like going down memory lane and brings back is special time eating here. Order the three delicacy bbq lunch special for $13.50. It came with your choice of tea or coffee, and a side of creamy soup. Also bought a soufflé and fruit juice drink. Everything was okay. I liked that the fruit juice drink was not sweetened. Definitely don't get the souffle. It was just foam and a side of whip cream. Service was okay. Sometimes the 3-star ratings in SGV are the best ones. U2 actually has good service and good food. They're located on the corner of Valley Blvd and Vega. When you exit New Ave from the 10, head north. They have an odd parking situation as the entrance is around the corner. There's plenty of parking though. They have a lot of space inside for seating. At the time of my visit recently, they were decorated and very U2-themed. There is a fun "I love U2" sign near the bathrooms. I got the baked bolognese, and it was good! I recommend getting the lunch deals here. You can add a drink for only $2.25 and the coffee/teas have free refills! Their happy hour is 3-5 PM every day, including weekends. Servers mostly speak Cantonese but English/Mandarin are good too. Something to note is they are so close to the daycare center. There's kids screaming to be heard all the time. Grilled chicken steak (comes with veggies and choice of pasta, fries, rice) and I got mushroom sauce 3. We came here recently with a huge party on a Saturday night. The staff was able to accommodate us quickly and I thought the service was nice. We haven't been to U2 Cafe & BBQ for years. We used to get the BBQ stuff at Yung Kee next door but I couldn't recall that I dined there. Anyhow, we ordered the baked spaghetti bolognese with fries, shredded duck vermicelli with pickle, and peanut butter with condensed milk toast. Their food was not bad and we liked the shredded duck vermicelli with pickle so much. The flavor was on point and the portion was big. The baked spaghetti bolognese was also flavorful and cheesy, fries were okay though. The peanut butter with condensed milk toast was delicious. Their price was quite reasonable and the portion size was good. Service was not bad but I'm not a fan of their interior and ambiance there. After visiting the cemetery, my family and I had breakfast here on a Sunday at 8:40am in March. There was quite of few regulars eating here. I haven't t been here in years and saw a post on SGV Eats. The staff are nice and they all speak English and Cantonese. Each table has a service button which is cool. I got the roast duck wonton noodle soup with ice lemon tea, my brother got the ny steak and eggs with toast, mother got century egg and pork jook, and my sister got the cheung fun wrapped Chinese donuts. The place is clean and the staff are very good on refills. TvB channel is on while eating is fun. I enjoyed The roast duck pieces was meaty with 3 shrimp wontons, with 2 gai lan pieces. Parking was a challenge on a Saturday afternoon, but we got our paper tickets upfront. The restaurant has two sides -- one side looks like a typical sit-down area, and the other side looks more like a takeout spot but has some tables, which I thought was a little strange. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time and was decent. Nothing really stood out -- just your typical Hong Kong-style dishes. I don't even remember exactly what we ordered, which says a lot; it wasn't bad, but it didn't "hit the spot." That said, their prices are competitive, which I appreciate. Dinner special was worth my money and visit. I would come back again as I am a cheap asian. The food was less than $10 but not fast food so it was worth my money. It's healthier compared to fast food. The food was amazing. I couldn't finish it, but I saved it for the next day. Portion might just be one portion for others but definitely worth the money. It was also cheap just to add a drink (my favorite is always Lemon Iced Tea). I think it was around $1.50 (do not quote me on this) for the addition of a COLD Drink. If you order hot, I believe it comes free. Dinner special is only after 6pm though. Restaurant is pretty empty but people start coming in after 6 because of the dinner special. Came here for their happy hour menu, which is 3pm-5:30pm. Good selection of items and comes with a drink for happy hour. They have their own parking lot so plenty of parking. Good size restaurant with two good size areas for dining. Service is very good - they take your order quickly and dishes come out just as quick. They top off drinks when you ask, and are even nice enough to fill a togo cup for you when you're done. We ordered the bbq pork rice noodle soup and beef brisket with noodle. Both were delicious and portions were very generous. Although food prices have gone up everywhere, their pricing is still very reasonable. We got here just before 10am on a Sunday and got seated right away. Breakfast is served from 8-11am and the menu is extensive! They have traditional Cantonese style breakfast with congee and noodle soup but they also have a big menu of American fusion breakfast. We got the roasted duck noodle soup (not pictured) and steak with two eggs and toast. The roasted duck is super flavorful and the skin is crispy! The egg noodles are sooo chewy and not stuck together but rather you can separate the noodles really easily. We also enjoyed the steak - not dry at all and juicy on the inside! I used to come to U2 every weekend for breakfast. It's been awhile and we decided to come for lunch. I ordered my fave baked pork chop rice with iced lemon water. My daughter ordered the dried scallop she white fried rice. Both are good. I thought the pork chop rice was a bit more crispy and baked a little longer before. Now it has just changed to some mesh of tomatoe sauce on top. I overheard the table next to us ordered the club sandwich. The fries that came with it were cold and the waiter had to ring another order of fries. Maybe it was super busy during the holiday weekend. It's all good. We like the Hong Kong connection. I grew up eating at this restaurant so the staff know our family well. I am surprised I haven't written a review yet. Prices have are always affordable here. Special combo dishes are available in the morning from 8-11:30am. The combos you can get varies such as "Build your own combo with eggs ($12.25) + toast with a side, OR congee with a side (12.50). Adding coffee or tea additional $2.25 and free refills. My family recommends the HK Style Milk Tea add coffee. There's regular food on the menu as well from 8am until closing. If you're vegetarian, it's marked on the menu with a leaf sign. If you're vegan, you need to modify the dishes like I do. Careful, they put meat broth in almost every dish. You need to tell them not to put it in. Make sure your server knows you have allergies. I ordered the Veggie (tofu + veggies) Chow Fun w/ Black Bean sauce...modify with NO chicken broth, seafood, meat, and eggs to make it vegan. If you're not vegan/vegetarian, I highly recommend the soy sauce chicken add wonton in Macaroni in Soup. They got good soy sauce chicken here. There's the BBQ side of the restaurant where you can get roast pork, roast duck, sausage, soy sauce chicken, and much more. Staff are always nice. It's average noise level. Casual dress. We love Hong Kong style cafes and U2 hits the spot. We've been here several times now and it never disappoints. I love the milk tea and also the "yin yang" which is a mix of tea and coffee. Unlike cafes in HK, at U2 you get free refills! Food wise, I always order the 炸兩 which is a Chinese doughnut wrapped with rice noodles. It is always so good! Crispy on the inside and slippery good on the outside. It comes with 3 dipping sauces. The 粥 is also good. We always get the one with the black egg and salted pork. The consistency is a tad thick for me but my family loves it. It comes with either fried noodles or a Chinese doughnut.... Get the noodles! The quintessential HK breakfast sandwich is the ham and egg (or spam and egg). I like it toasted. Another favorite is the wonton noodle soup. I like it with fish cake. Finish with some egg waffles. I ordered the BBQ Delicacy on Rice lunch special. It was mostly rice and small thinly slices pieces of meat. The gross part was that the person preparing it, in the takeout bbq section, was using his bare hands to grab the meat from the food hotel pans but... I did not see him wash his hands before or after grabbing food. He did use tongs when placing the bok choy, which I guess is good. It just made it unappetizing and not sanitary. The menu offers a wide variety of Cantonese dishes that would please any gourmet. The wait staff are friendly and helpful, the restaurant boasts a few televisions, and there are two sides of the restaurant. One part of the restaurant sells food for takeout, such as barbecued pork, roast duck, roast pig, soy sauce chicken, and other takeout dishes. The food is served relatively quickly, no matter how many dishes that you order. It's a restaurant that you can come back with friends sans family, over and over again. It is over 20 years since I have been here. My recollection was it was a mediocre place back then. It has not improved much. I spent $93 plus $4 tip basically on the BBQ items. I had two takeout orders. Roast duck tasted pretty good and skin was the ideal kind. Roasted cracked pork was tender and not too salty. When cool, you cannot chew on the skin as it turned into rock. Char Siu looked uninviting, was tender but did not looked like it had enough molasses to marinate it with, no taste. Salt and pepper squid was delicious as the squid was tender. Pork chow mein was a disaster as I told them to cook it like soy sauce noodles. A bunch of connected shredded pork was found embedded among the noodles. No good taste. I think this place really lives up to its name庸俗, mediocre. I think Bay Cafe is cheaper and has more authentic Hong Kong flavor. read more
