I'm never disappointed when I come here. I'm coming here for years. From lunch break to random walks, I always stop by.

We stopped here to have dinner before a show at the Kennedy Center. It's a popular place for that reason since it's right across the street. It's super casual with quick service. Your order is taken at the counter, and your food is brought to you. There's inside dining as well as a good-sized patio. We each ordered our own pizza which was cut into 6 slices. We had the Margherita, and the Calabrese Pizza. Both were good. I would have liked more basil on the Margherita, but all-in-all, the pizzas were good.

If you find yourself at the Kennedy Center or Watergate Hotel, this is one of the best food options in the immediate area. Many yelpers complain about the high priced yet underwhelming food offerings on the rooftop of the Kennedy Center and their café. Here the food is much better priced and the service is quick and attentive. You can come up to the counter and get some grab and go items, including gelato, or sit and order one of their menu options. Definitely recommend their fresh made pizza. Great spot to dine in without paying a ridiculous price. Plenty of alcoholic drinks on the menu and parking garage in the immediate area. If you sit outside, you can expect some sparrows and squirrels looking expectantly for a treat. Check out the informative photos to get you through the door.

We were planning to attend a matinee show at the Kennedy Center. I found a blog article recommending Tazza Cafe over the in house KC restaurants. It is literally right across the street. There is parking in the Watergate complex building within steps of the restaurant, which is cheaper & quicker to exit than the KC lots. At Tazza, you walk up to the counter to place your order and pay, and they give you a table marker for when they bring out your food. It was a gorgeous day, so we decided to eat outside. The menu provided lots of choices, and they serve breakfast until 2:00 pm on weekends. We ordered the salmon and green apple salad, which was quite tasty. It is served in a toasted tortilla shell bowl. This place is low key. It is not inexpensive, but we had a very nice experience.

I really enjoyed this spot and I will definitely return. It is just steps from the Kennedy Center. It's a fairly fast restaurant and that you order and find your seat. The food comes to you. I had the warm apple salad with salmon and the salmon was exactly what I needed. Followed up with gelato. I appreciated the service where I ordered. A surface professional there was excellent.- she gave me great advice. I paid in advance for the gelato. She remembered me and I was able to make it an Affogato with decaf coffee and it was amazing. We had about an hour to dine - which is generally very tight - but we were right on time without being rushed- Check it out for yourself !!

Came here for lunch on a Wednesday at 12:30pm. Sat outside and it was not too busy but it wasn't dead either. I ordered the Southwestern Chicken Caesar salad, for here. After 30min it arrived in a a plastic to-go container with a single little cup of half-full dressing. It looked nothing like any of the pictures I saw online. I asked for the manager who asked "what can I do to fix this?" I said comp it so I can come back and have a proper experience here. He laughed and said he'd have to get the owner. The owner came out and asked me the same question. I gave him the same response--he shook his head and offered me gelato, or coffee--no man! So all in all, poor experience--with an opportunity to fix it but total refusal to. Had I. It been waiting 35min at that point, I would have been ok with a remake--but alas, nothij

A wonderful place to get dinner before seeing a show at the Kennedy Center. The Cafe is literally right next to the Kennedy Center and has very filling meals to keep you feeling full throughout the whole night. You order inside at the register and then pick a seat anywhere. They bring you your food once it's ready. It was a beautiful night so my friend and I chose to sit outside. We heard a loud bang that scared us nearly to death. For whatever reason there was a spontaneous firework show so we were treated to dinner and a show! I ordered the chicken and avocado Cobb salad. I don't eat dairy so I opted for a lemon vinaigrette instead of the ranch. The salad was a massive portion and everything tasted very fresh. The meals are a little pricey but it's in a great, quiet location and the portion sizes justify the price.

Delicious selection. Who could choose just one?

DC area is so spoiled with this chain of amazing cafes. The ingredients of the chicken salad is so clean. Everything we had was flavorful and just delicious.

There is a parking garage around the corner of the restaurant so that makes things very convenient. The inside decor is gorgeous and is chic but also funky fresh. I got grilled octopus over a bed of bean salad that had pieces of pomegranate in it - 10/10. The savory taste of the octopus paired against the sweetness of the salad was really delicious. For desert I got the baklava option that comes with ice cream - INCREDIBLE. You have to order it if you come here.

The serving size of the dishes I ordered were medium to small. The service was far less satisfactory than food. I tried the following dishes: 1. Complimentary pita: ~40g per piece. Not salty and paired well with the other dishes. Definitely get some! 2. Lahmacun: The lamb+beef mixture was tasty. It came with 4 pieces. 3. Branzino: ~6oz. The fish was grilled to perfection; juciy tender, and the skin was nicely charred. It was served with freh parsley and seasoned grilled tomato (salt+oregano I think). 4. Imam Bayildi: Half of an eggplant topped with sauteed onions and tomatoes. While itself was pretty normal, it went so well with the Ottoman rice. 5. Ottoman Rice: The true highlight of all the dishes I tried! It was basically Basimati rice cooked with dried apricots, raisins, almonds & pine nuts mix, and seasoned with black currant. Overall it was warm, earthy and lightly smoky. The apricot slices added some delightful sweetness and juiciness to the dish. Should pair well with Labneh, chicken and seafood. But to be honest, I can simply eat this stuff along for a whole meal! 6. Tabbouleh: They went against the traditional recipe by substituting the bulgur with quinoa and added some pomegranate arils. I liked the special texture of quinoa. The sweetness of pomegrante arils also enriched the flavors. However, I had to constantly spit the seeds when enjoying the salad. 7. Kofte: Adana style ground beef patties. Just like what I make at home haha! I ordered it as an add-on to my salad at lunchtime. It came with only 2 pieces which weighed no more than 3oz in total... Despite the delicious food, service was disappointing. The first time, the dinner, was Okay. While my food came out slowly, at least my server was aware of it and asked me how I liked the dishes. The second time, the lunch, was horrible. Even before I was seated, my server made me feel that he was reluctant to serve me, and emphasized that I had to order asap. "Luckily", I had already decided what to order. After I got my dishes, no one in the restaurant asked me if the food was Okay. And at the check, my bill was thrown onto my table. In comparison, the two ladies dining next to me came even after I started eating, but were greeted warmly and were given lots of time to decide what to order; not to mention that the staff gave them lots of suggestions, asked about their dining experience, and even chatted with them about sightseeing in DC, etc. Such discrimitory treatment is really unacceptable.

Nice selection of desserts too, but again, nothing exciting, juts a typical dessert buffet selection (brownies, cupcakes, chocolate fountain..). The standout were the baklavas. Pita: Pure wheat flavor, substantial texture, and even more moist and soft than ilili. It didn't dry out even without a cloth covering it. More suited to Chinese tastes. The accompanying simple vinaigrette was complemented by a particularly fragrant olive oil. Hommus: The hummus was smooth and creamy, with a perfect balance of acidity and a hint of garlic. A splash of chili oil added aroma and richness while preventing it from drying out; the vegetables were fresh and crisp, perfect for dipping. These two combinations were new to me, showing attention to detail compared to the usual simple dish of hommus. Shish Taouk: Tender chicken, with sumac giving it a distinct smoky flavor, and a refreshing, slightly acidic garlic sauce. The combination was both fragrant and light, truly deserving of its signature dish. Unfortunately, the onion salad was mildly sweet, offering limited relief from the richness; the roasted tomatoes, coated in spices, had their sweet and sour flavors overshadowed, resulting in a slightly weird taste. Lamb Baharat: The lamb leg was a bit dry and tough, and the tahini sauce and hommus were somewhat repetitive, but the Tabbouleh salad won me over from the first bite! The fresh aromas of parsley, mint leaves, and onions, the bright sweet and sour notes of tomatoes, and the wheat crumbs reminiscent of couscous and quinoa, with their hearty wheat flavor balancing the raw taste. Overall, it was restrained, light, and comforting. Crispy Brussels Afelia: The barberries, and garlic yogurt were all sour, making the overall dish too acidic and monotonous. It wasn't as good as ilili's system, built with grapes, walnuts, and mint yogurt, which achieved a balanced sweet and sour flavor, layered texture, and a smooth mouthfeel. Greek Yogurt and Apricots: What a beautiful dessert! The top layer was the rich, sweet aroma of apricot sorbet, with sprinkles of pistachios that enriched the taste; the middle layer was the tartness of apricot pectin and the fermented tang of yogurt; just when starting to feel a little disappointed by the monotony of the bottom, I discovered sweet, slightly crunchy diced muscat-soaked apricots at the very bottom. Its elegance, refinement, and meticulousness left me only with awe and admiration, and a sense of blissful ecstasy. The restaurant's decor features classic Greek blue and white tones, with natural light creating a clean and comfortable atmosphere; the tableware was decorated with traditional Greek patterns, making it both distinctive and exquisite.

As one of the longer running Andres restaurants, Zaytinya flew under me and my wife's radar as we…read moreexplored more trendy Mediterranean restaurants in the city. Though we typically look askance upon restaurants serving multiple ethnic cuisines, we nonetheless decided to try Zaytinya for dinner on the strength of friends' recommendations and when in need of a relatively last minute dinner reservation. The lively space is large and boasts bright white and marine blue accents characteristic of the Greek islands. While fancy enough for a date night, the place can get loud, so intimate evenings may be best had elsewhere. Zaytinya's large menu offers bites from Greece, Turkey, and the Levant. The meal begins with complimentary pita bread served with olive oil and pomegranate molasses. When fresh, the bread is soft and makes for pleasant munching. When it cools down a little it becomes a little hard and leathery, so be sure to eat it expediently. We started off with two Greek-inspired dips: the taramosalata and the tyrokafteri. Both tasted akin to what we have received at actual Greek restaurants, and subsequently hit the mark. Our zaatar pide arrived shortly thereafter. The dough on the flatbread was soft and we enjoyed the bites with egg and cheese. The zaatar itself ran more bitter rather than zesty, so while overall a decent bite I would skip it next time in favor of a different pide. Our imam biyaldi brought meltingly tender eggplant seasoned with warm spices, olive oil, and pine nuts. The dish tasted comforting and rustic. Our protein mezzes comprised the octopus Santorini, lamb kleftiko, and adana kebab. The octopus offered a generous portion of tender tentacles upon a schmear of creamy Greek style fava puree. The flavors and cook on the dish were good, though I could've used an acidic or herby element to bring a little brightness. The lamb kleftiko was the evening's uncontested favorite. Rather than the traditional parchment cooked preparation, the meat here is encased in homemade phyllo pastry and is set atop a rich tzatziki sauce. This made for a really delicious bite marrying juicy, tender lamb, crisp pastry, and cooling yogurt. Skip the adana kebab. The spicing on the skewer was adequate, but the somewhat bouncy texture of the meat and skimpy portion size made it a dud. Service ran smoothly but perfunctorily. We noted we were celebrating an anniversary on our reservation, but no mention was made. Our waiter didn't really explain the menu or offer suggestions for dishes. He did course the meal at a comfortable pace and the staff made sure we had plenty of fresh bread, and no errors were made. Our bill totaled $150 pre tip for six mezze and two drinks, which we found very fair for the quantity and quality of food. Overall, I can see why this restaurant has stood the test of time. While initially skeptical, we found most of the small plates here of a decent quality and taste and the menu appealing enough to return. Zaytinya thus gets four stars for solid Eastern Mediterranean fare at reasonable prices in lively surrounds.
