My old dentist of 4 years, started having issues with my Dental insurance ("Boo" Delta Dental) so we had to find another dentist real quick. Then we remembered that a new dental office was just built about a mile away. We check out the doctors, their educational backgrounds and the client reviews. We were happy with the information we received about Dr. Renken and his dental team. Upon my initial appointment inquiry, I was sent a link to gather extensive information regarding my medical history. I can respect this as your doctor doesn't know anything about you unless you tell them. My Hygienist was very friendly, she gave me a lot of pointers regarding dental maintenance and cleaning tips around my retainer. Dr. Josh Rankin examined me. Very attentive and personal. They asked a lot of questions about me. Which I thought was very important. Like I said, they only know what you tell them. Overall it was a wonderful experience, considering it was a dental office. I got to the counter to pay and they tell me my insurance won't cover the graft so I'm out $1100. Then I wake up in the middle of the night with the string from the stitches hanging out of my mouth and my mouth filled with what fills like chalk. The bone graft and stitches had came out while I slept. I literally spit out $1100! Never Go To This Place! Also, No one ever called to check up afterwards.

A few months ago, I had see a dentist up in New York while on a work assignment. She told me I needed a filling on a tooth and not to wait. So when I got back to Austin, my wife booked appointments for both of us at the Swish office we have visited in the past couple of years. I shared with Swish I was told to see a dentist soon. Well trust me, that the worse thing I could have said. Now all of a sudden everyone jumps into action mode, taking all new x rays and cbct (which is a fancy X-ray). I looked it up. Their findings were alarming. I now needed 3 crowns and the fillings that go under the crowns plus 3 additional fillings. Why didn't the other dentist in NY say anything to me about all these problems? On my wife, she suddenly needs a deep cleaning and possibly some fillings redone because they are leaching.(their words). They tried to force us to schedule immediately and wanted to start my wife's deep cleaning that very day. We told them that we both had to return to work but then we were told they would not have another appointment available for several weeks to do a deep cleaning. We left there unsettled and I contacted a friend of mine who has a brother that is a dentist. I sent him a copy of the X-rays and he said he couldn't see anything other than the 1 tooth that needed just a filling. My wife went to another dentist and was told she only needed a basic filling. Who are these people? Why would they attempt to do such aggressive dentistry if it doesn't exist?

I was a new patient so I had extensive x-rays, scans, and photos done of my teeth, all of which were free of charge. My dental assistant was so kind and helpful and explained any questions I had about the current state of my teeth and my care plan moving forward. My dentist was also very friendly and supportive going over my care plan. Scheduling was super easy and Nydia was even nice enough to schedule my cleaning and fillings on the same day so I didn't have to come in twice. Prices for each treatment/visit were clearly explained, showing the price of the treatment before and after dental insurance and how much I would pay out of pocket. Could not recommend them enough if you're looking for a new dentist and dental care team that cares about your comfort, health, and wellbeing.
