I know many of us have different feelings about visits to the dentist. I just want to report that I had an amazing experience at Renken Dentistry - Georgetown West. My old dentist of 4 years, started having issues with my Dental insurance ("Boo" Delta Dental) so we had to find another dentist real quick. Then we remembered that a new dental office was just built about a mile away. We check out the doctors, their educational backgrounds and the client reviews. We were happy with the information we received about Dr. Renken and his dental team. Upon my initial appointment inquiry, I was sent a link to gather extensive information regarding my medical history. I can respect this as your doctor doesn't know anything about you unless you tell them. My Hygienist was very friendly, she gave me a lot of pointers regarding dental maintenance and cleaning tips around my retainer. Dr. Josh Rankin examined me. Very attentive and personal. They asked a lot of questions about me. Which I thought was very important. Like I said, they only know what you tell them. Overall it was a wonderful experience, considering it was a dental office. DO NOT GO HERE - RIP OFFFFFFF.....We moved here from a different state and this was the Dentist we chose because of the reviews. When I left my previous dentist, I always had full care and it was excellent care. This is not the place to go, first the short haired blond woman was uppity and rude, [[HIGHLIGHT]]second they wanted a full set of pics when it was just done about six months ago by my old dentist and insurance would not pay because of that.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] So I said no, get the records from my Dentist I am not paying for something that is obtainable and was just done. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Billing dept. gave me 2 different bills[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They first gave me a bill $1211.50 and was told, when i asked if it would change and was told no it would not, but When I came in to be fitted for partials The bill went to $1490.00 and then 8/11/2025 It seems i still owed $117.00 and my partials are still Unable to use to eat or wear all day or talk with. I was seen in 1/25 for routine cleaning and X-rays. I have been going to this office for several years. I now have been getting text messages that I have an outstanding balance. I have never received an itemized bill and no one has returned my calls. This place over-communicates with you for an appointment But when you contact them, they are an absolute sh*t show. Why is this? Because they are a "chain" dental mill that doesn't communicate internally, they have people who pick up your call and they're literally in another state. My recommendation is finding a good old-fashioned single dentist practice, with an actual office that answers the phone locally, and communicates in a timely manner. I rest my case... Oh, by the way, it is suspicious to see 4 or 5 star reviews for this "mill" dental practice. It appears you pay staff, friends, etc. to enter positive reviews when you don't really earn them. I recently had a very bad experience with this provider. I am a 74 year old man with limited resources and I am new to the area. An acquaintance referred me to Renken Dentistry. I set up and appointment with them for a routine cleaning. That's all I needed. When they got me in the chair they began mapping my mouth with imaging technology and took x-rays. Soon thereafter, the doctor arrives and starts explaining all the problems in my mouth. Two new crowns, two cavities, extraction of a front tooth, installation of a temporary tooth (Flipper), creating a permanent bridge to replace the extracted tooth and a deep cleaning on top of all that. All of this was explained in detail. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Next i was presented a document that outlined all the procedures, costs, insurance coverage and discounts. The total was approximately $1700 out of pocket[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. They asked me if I would like to go with the plan and I was asked to sign the document. I asked if this covered all that we had discussed and was told yes. I left without a cleaning that I wanted and a contract for extensive work. During the next three visits, the front tooth was extracted, cavities were fixed, the crowns were set and the flipper was provided as the agreement provided for. I paid all $1700 for what I thought was for what had been done as well as the other specified work. [[HIGHLIGHT]]After the Flipper was installed, I asked the Tech when we would be doing the bridge work to finish the job before the deep cleaning that was scheduled for December. To my astonishment, she informed me that I would have to get estimates from my insurance provider, to determine what they would cover for the remainder of the work[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. What???? [[HIGHLIGHT]]She then showed me on the overhead monitor, the rest of the estimates for the work for the bridge and deep cleaning that would cost me over $3000.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] At that moment I started to boil. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They told me originally that all the work would cost me $1700 and now it was going to be nearly $5000![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] After I got home, I called their billing office and protested what I considered deceptive practices. Eventually, the Billing Manager spoke with me and told me she understood my concerns and would work. with me. She told me they would submit estimate requests to my insurance company and they would send them to me and when I got them, I was to email them to her. I got the estimate for the deep cleaning and sent it to her and she responded saying I should send the other when I get it. I got it and sent it to her. It has been over a month and I have heard nothing. At this point I am choosing to abandon hope that this will be properly resolved, and I am going to find another provider. I have learned a valuable and expensive lesson. I hope others can learn from this as well. read more

Renken worked with me to make an appointment, verify in Network, discussed using my exist X Rays. Preregistered which is a very invasive faulty process, set a game starter plan and a date. I showed up as scheduled and received no call or heads up of these fac listed herein prior to my visit. They again are in Network with my excellent Zero Copay dental insurance. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Shortly after waiting a lady came to the window wanting $208 for X Rays and Exam.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I already told them Panoramic was only allowed every five years but other less costly X Rays are covered.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Exams or Fully 100% covered.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They agreed when becoming in Network to work with the Insurance comapny agreed coverages and allowable billing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They ignored my insurance after setting the appointment, reviewing my X Ray (note the other basic X Rays are covered for so many for every year and none done this year) Exam fully covered.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They turned me away due to me saying NO to the charges which were totally bogus. No one offered to discuss. I guess they seek the weak of mind who just pay for horrible service and incorrect charges. Not me and I feel sorry for anyone who gives this operation business. Great staff - they are extremely conscientious about people who are uncomfortable with the whole dental experience. The hygienists are very gentle, explain every step of the appointment...they want their patients to be comfortable and at ease. They assured me, I was paid in full. Now they're threatening me, trying to get me to pay for a service I never wanted in the first place. Renken Dentistry is a corporation. As such, they aren't going to do anything that will get them into a malpractice lawsuit. But now, looking back, I see that Renken Dentistry is mainly concerned about their bottom line, not taking care of me. I was a patient there for three or four years, mainly just getting my teeth cleaned every six months. Then, I needed crowns. That experience is why I'm no longer a patient there. If you call them, expect to be on hold for several minutes, then they still don't answer, and then you have to leave a message for someone to call you back. Which can take 5 hours or maybe a day or two. Expect to be nickeled and dimed for every thing (procedure or consultation) that they can think of to charge you and your insurance company, while trying to convince you that you really do NEED everything they want to nickel and dime you for. How much did they care about me as a patient? As much as they had to, legally... Obviously, I don't recommend Renken Dentistry. If you "need" dental care or treatment, and they're the only one that can see you quickly, you will get adequate care, but once that emergency is over, FIND a dentist that is in private practice, and that truly cares about you, not just their bottom line. read more

I had trouble getting my Medicare insurance with this dentist. I was told they would look into it, but I could still come in. When I came in there was no word that my insurance was not okay. Instead I was greeted told where to go to get my exam started, which they then performed. I saw the doctor. She examined me. And there was no further word, and they also showed me to the door as if the whole exam was paid. After all of this, I was told that the insurance was only valid at another office with a different doctor, but still called Renken Dentistry. Then I get a bill for $330 for the exam. What a great experience I had at this dental office. Switched from another local dentist because I wasn't satisfied. Renken's staff was great, their equipment state of the art and office was very nice. I especially enjoyed Shelly, my dental hygienist. She took the time to explain things to me and gave me some tips to help with sensitivity and recession that I have never been told of before. She even numbed up an area where I told her I was highly sensitive and each time the instrument hit that area it would hurt. It definitely dulled the pain after she numbed that area. I have been going to this location for 5 years. They are very hard to get an appointment with, even for a cleaning. Too many patients. I had one scheduled 2 months out, they just cancelled and couldn't get me in until Dec and I have a really open calendar. Calls to the office regarding appointments or insurance go unanswered. I had an appointment today as a new patient. When I arrived I was accompanied by an 88 yr. old friend because she needed to run some errands and I help her do that. I was told she could not come in (she had a mask but they didn't even ask) and they would put a chair outside their door where she could wait. I said "In the heat"?? Then was told she could wait in the car with the a/c on. Evidently they have no compassion for the elderly and their problems. Office is clean with hand sanitizer available as needed, private rooms to keep you physically separated from others.
