In town visiting family and wanting to try something new and delicious and my sister in law mentioned Royal Taw Win for lunch and told me how good the food was so off we went. What a treat to visit this establishment, very clean and fresh inside with the help friendly and helpful. Checked on us several times to make sure we were happy. The menu offers Thai dishes which all looked amazing but I never had Burmese food so I wanted to try something new. So we all ordered something different and sampled each other's dishes. Starting with the Samosas filled with vegetables and a sweet/spicy dipping sauce-very good! Then the Pad Tai served with shrimp and also very good. We then moved onto the Tom Yum Soup with seafood, great broth with a citrus flavor combined with a tomato base combined with various fish, mussels and some vegetables. Great flavor with a slight kick. We then moved onto the Nan Gyi Tao which is a noodle dish with choices of a protein which I decided to go with chicken, it reminded me of a Udon noodle and delizioso with a medium kick. Our server explained the levels of "kick" and choices on our dishes. We finished with a sweet dish to end our culinary journey and went with the Mango Sticky Rice which was a perfect closure for this amazing lunch. Our portions were good sized and reasonably priced. The menu has many dishes and options so this will encourage me to visit them again to explore more deliciousness at Taw Win. Well done to all of the staff from the servers to the chef. If you are in the Denver area and want a good Pad Tai dish or curry dish then this is your destination. Bravissimo Royal Tae Win I will see you again SOON!

The food and the ambiance at Taw Win was excellent! I say this as someone who's Burmese - the food is not only authentic but it is also immaculately prepared. I went to lunch here with a group of Burmese friends and we ordered the whole menu. Particular recommendations include: 1) Nan gyi thoke (they use the thicker cut noodles which work the best for the dishes flavor profile - we ordered another one after we finished), 2) mohinga soup, 3) la pet thoke - very well made tea leaf salad with a balance of spice and flavor, and 4) for dessert, some falooda

Taw Win has delicious Burmese food! I've been here twice already. The tea leaf salad is always a classic burmese shareable item, I love all the nuts and dried shrimp that it comes with. It has a unique flavor from the fermented tea leaves. It goes well with a side of white rice or on its own. We got the rakhine mohinga, which was a different style than I was used to. The flavor profile is more based around black pepper. My preference is the classic style mohinga. The bean paratha is a great appetizer to share that's cut into smaller pieces. On a previous visit we had the whole fried tilapia which was was really good and comes with a sweet/spicy sauce. If I had a bigger appetite I would also order the nan gyi thoke (chicken curry noodle salad). I recommend saving room for dessert and trying the Burmese milkshake (falooda). It's a rose flavored drink with vanilla ice cream. There are various jellies and nuts that are fun to chew. Perfect for a hot day. Service staff are very friendly and our party of 4 was able to be seated right away. The dining area is cozy like you're eating inside someone's house. Parking is easy since there is a parking lot. They also have a Burmese grocery right next door. All the dishes can be adjusted for spice level preference. Definitely recommend if you want to try burmese food!

Burmese good is SO hard to come by, and I am so excited to have another option here in Denver. The menu is divided into Thai and Burmese choices. We tried the samosa, the paratha, the beef Burmese curry and the goat Burmese curry, and the Burmese milk shake. Everything was super interesting and multi layered in flavor. I think the paratha was my favorite item- they offered it with beans, egg, or chicken. I went with the beans, and you know it's authentic when you ask what kind of beans were in it and the server doesn't know how to say it in English and has to show you the bag (it's yellow peas by the way, and they were awesome). The goat curry had bones in it, which was unexpected but not a deal breaker. Love the curry sauce, although the meat was a little chewier than I was expecting. The milkshake wasn't as sweet as I thought it would be, which was better in a way. Like a less sweet strawberry quick with peanuts in it. The restaurant put a lot of effort into trying to make the interior look nice when the building itself is a little run down- I appreciate the authentic touches and photos that are scattered throughout the dining room. Overall, an excellent meal. Thanks so much!

Taw Win is a charming, authentic restaurant a bit off the beaten path, but well worth the trip. I had waited to write this review until I felt like I had a good breadth of experience, (having started with delivery and then the Thai offerings), and honestly the last trip I had was just so thoroughly enjoyable I thought about it for days. I went with some friends and we were able to order a wonderful assortment of the Burmese dishes, including the Bean Paratha, Tea Leaf Salad, Mohinga, Beef Curry and Nan Gyi Tho. We joked that we had so much food that we needed a separate table, and our server actually brought us a little side table to help with the spread! I was so impressed with the attentiveness throughout. (I had felt sheepish about wanting to divvy the soup four ways, but they didn't bat an eye and brought us the necessary bowls and spoons--and I'm grateful for that as the Mohinga was such a soul satisfying dish). I would probably order a different protein than beef for the curry next time (personal preference) but everything was really exceptional. The Tea Leaf salad was a textural taste explosion in particular. I can't wait for my next trip and to try a few new items as well! Oh and it's worth noting, this epic feast did not set us back either; the prices were super reasonable, and there was plenty to go around.

If you haven't tried Burmese food, you HAVE to try it, and you have to have it here!! Taw Win would be 6 stars if it was possible for me to give that many. The food is AMAZING. To give some context, my partner is Burmese, and we are always looking for Burmese food because there simply aren't enough restaurants! I've had Burmese food in California, the Chicago suburbs-ish, and now Denver. This place is fantastic, and they don't hold back on the flavor. Tea leaf salad: A must order. Make note that the menu is divided into Thai and Burmese dishes, and the tea leaf salad is in the Thai section. I couldn't find it on the menu so asked the friendly person who took our order, and they said it's in the wrong section which is why we couldn't find it! This salad was a traditional Burmese salad, with cabbage, tomato, fermented tea leaves, and all the crispy crunchies! It's a flavor and texture bomb and you get the tangy and the savory in every bite. Paratha stuffed with chicken: I've had paratha but never like this! It is puff pastry, that is often in a medium tortilla shape, eaten with savory dishes like curry, or even on its own. I've never had it stuffed like this in this square pocket shape. The curry chicken inside was still steaming when it came to our table. They cut it into pieces, so it was easy to divide amongst the three of us, and each bite was savory curry and spicy goodness. I'm drooling thinking about it. Now for the main dishes! Mohinga: This catfish soup was true to it's ingredients and tasted very much like delicious catfish! Love that the garnishes were on the side, and the fried chickpeas were the perfect crunch. Don't forget to squeeze some lime on top of your soup and garnishes, as it cuts through the savoriness for a nice balance of citrus flavor and brightness. There is powdered spice already on the table, and I recommend adding it to the mohinga for that extra kick and flavor. So good! Fish curry: This was such a nice surprise! I didn't know what to expect but it was also a flavor bomb. It's more of a thick curry sauce rather than a curry that is like soup (like in Thai food), so you can expect concentrated flavor. The fish came in medium sized chunks, as it was fried and chopped into pieces. Bones are still in them so just be aware of them so you don't eat them. It came with rice so we didn't have to order extra. All this was plenty of food for three of us and there was a little left of each entree that we took home. I really recommend trying lots of dishes. Service was phenomenal. The person who took our order and brought the food had such a kind and gentle demeanor about him. Something about him made us think he was one of the chefs or owner but we didn't ask. He brought the food with a smile and checked in on us a few times. He also brought small plates/bowls with every dish so that we could eat family style. And we didn't even have to ask! So kind. This place is a quiet restaurant in an unassuming area. It's very spacious inside and clean. A door or two down from the restaurant there is a small grocery with the same name. We didn't get to check it out but next time I visit I hope to! Maybe they have some Burmese ingredients :) 6/5 stars. Please check it out! I'll be back when I visit Denver again.

Service and food were great. Until I found a critter at the bottom of my fried rice!!!!!! Really didn't want to write this review because I enjoyed their dishes so much, but this is unacceptable.

I got there pretty late from my flight from Michigan. Every thai restaurants that i searched were closed and luckily I found this hidden gem. The food was so amazing and Nan Gyi Tho was my fav. Although Red curry tasted a bit spicy for me, it was very tasty with the rice. I enjoyed the pad ka paung very much as well. I am trying Tea leaf salad next time.

She barely acknowledged the birthday person in our party after I announced it, she awkwardly said oh and kept going with her intro spiel. The crab Rangoon was ok, it had a good filling but the wrapper was a little chewy. The spicy fried chicken appetizer special was dry. They wanted extra $ for mayo sauce, ridiculous. We tried the lamb, it had bits of bone and gristle but it was tasty and a decent amount of spice. The pork ribs were very tender and delicious. The sweet and "sour" chicken was not sour at all, it was a honey sweet sauce with a hint of spice. The birthday girl specifically wanted a good sweet and sour chicken, this is the reason I chose this place, in addition to having gluten free options for the one celiac in our party. Everything comes on plastic dishes. Not sure if the owners are aware of the toxic leaching that occurs when you put hot food into plastic, but I am and try to avoid plastic like the plague. Big turnoff, especially at a pricey full service restaurant. No candle on our mediocre expensive dessert, let alone even a happy birthday, and it was placed in front of the celiac who wasn't partaking. A "fresh baked" ice cream sandwich. I could make this at home for less than we paid and it would be far better. We were kicked out after 90 minutes even though we just spent $200 and were getting ready to leave anyway. There were no parties waiting for tables, so it seemed a little unnecessary. I didn't catch it until after I wrote in the tip, but they snuck in a 10% service fee that I tipped 20% on. Was not a special occasion experience, almost seemed like they were offended we brought gifts to celebrate. I really was hoping to find a good Chinese restaurant in the Denver area that we can frequent, but this is not it. We won't be back.
