4.5 out of 5 stars. We shall round up to 5. Parking may be limited. The interior may be on the verge of a hole in the wall restaurant. The service was very ordinary. However... the food was very hot. There was a sense of pride felt from the cooks in the kitchen. We enjoyed crab cheese wontons for an appetizer. The teriyaki chicken with veggies for one meal. And the spicy chicken curry for the other meal. The food portions were wonderful. Enough to take home a healthy amount for a second round. Our server packaged our meals when we were done. We will definitely be back for more in the future. It was not packed with people inside. It's probably a hidden gem to many in the area. read more

Far from home and after 12 hour shift, I was craving a comforting bowl of pho. Unfortunately, this was a huge disappointment. For reference, the photo is their beef pho. When I first saw the broth, I thought, "Maybe they just make it differently in other states." I tried to keep an open mind, but it just wasn't good. The broth lacked flavor, the noodles were hard. I'm not sure if I would even call it a bowl of pho. I would have been better off buying packaged pho noodle cups which probably would have had a better flavor and softer noodle texture than what I was served. read more

The Vietnamese egg roles were incredible - highly highly recommend these. We got the central pho and I ordered spicy (second highest spice level) - I will say it wasn't spicy at all so I'd probably try the hottest level next time. The pho was great, no complaints. Tried takeout from this place for the first time today. Very disappointed by the incredibly small portions. The pho only had 1 sprig of Thai basil, and a few slices of rare beef and brisket. It's a nice, easy going atmosphere and a great location. The older gentleman who waited on us was super nice and friendly. I'd previously gone here and found everything good but the noodles. My previous complaints didn't re-appear. The noodles were perfectly adequate! I had the central style pho and it was tasty! The only reason I'm giving four instead of five stars is that I wish my soup had more substance in it! I feel like I didn't get as many noodles as I would at other spots. We had never been to this restaurant but we were craving some spring rolls! We love spring rolls. So we call ahead to make a take out order. The lady on the phone was rude and couldn't understand us. I repeated our order and then she hung up and we actually had more food to order. We ended up having to make a new order there. The food was ready fast but in my life I have never had disgusting spring rolls! Idk what they do or how they make their peanut sauce but it tasted like sh**. It was like watery and I couldn't even eat it after my 1st initial bite with my roll. My friend said the same thing about his order of spring rolls. I had two experiences this past weekend, the first one with dining in and the other one with delivery (hey, when you want pho, you want pho right?) and this place is pretty decent. Considerate with their packaging of pho for celivery Cons: No parking They didn't serve sprouts, jalapenos, basil or lime with the pho when I ordered in, I was confused by this. Speaking of confused, even though super friendly, the staff seemed confused with what tables ordered. When ordering the Central pho, it was ridiculously oily and greasy seeping through the delivery bag Pho seemed to be missing a certain zing. So both experiences were ok but definitely not the best pho in town. I'm still confused why they don't serve you all the fixings in the restaurant to doctor up your pho the way you want and why the Central pho was so greasy. I will probably come back here again due to proximity to me but don't think I will be craving Pho Saigon Star specifically. This review started at one Pho restaurant and ended at Pho Saigon Star.... I felt a strong hankering for Pho, so I popped-in to Pho on 6th. The place was practically empty...two peeps at the bar and two tables occupied...total of six occupants. The atmosphere felt more like an Irish pub than a pho house. Anyway, no one greeted me at the door to seat me. I stood there, sorta looking around like a prairie dog, for what felt like an awkward period of time before a long-haired white dude with a beard strolled out and finally asked, "Can I help you?". He asked with a tone that sounded like I had just walked into his private living room rather than a restaurant. I requested a table for one and then followed him in. Upon seeing the table I asked for a different location by a window instead of the large table in the middle of the dark, silent, empty dining area. The guy seemed put-off that I wanted to sit an extra 12 feet away from the kitchen. I suppose it interfered with his plan of exerting minimal effort for the rest of the day. But I sat down to check my emails while I waited for a menu. I kinda got lost in my phone for a bit before realizing that 15-20 minutes had passed and no one had acknowledged me, brought water and a menu, or even expressed even the slightest amount of give-a-fu€k that a paying customer had entered. At that moment I just got up and walked out without a word. It seemed sensible to refrain from wasting my valuable oxygen on a complaint. No one even noticed that I left. Now I'm sitting at Pho Saigon Star on University eating a fresh spring roll and awaiting my pho with shrimp & rare beef. It took less time to drive here and get served by the owner than I spent waiting for nothing at Pho on 6th. If I owned Pho on 6th, I'd hire a new crew. Cuz you just lost my business (and my business is leading a popular weekly restaurant & bar cruise on Meetup & Instagram). We only visit the hottest & most authentic spots in Denver...and Pho on 6th was ice cold. Frankly, I kinda wonder if Pho on 6th is just a front for a money-laundering operation. ANYHOOZ... Go to Pho Saigon Star, instead of Pho on 6th, and support a family-owned business that values its customers. The atmosphere at Saigon Star is about what you'd expect from a family-owned dive....not immaculate, not hip....kinda like eating at your Vietnamese in-law's place. And the vibe depends upon the mood of the server on that particular day. But that actually has its own kind of charm. No frills, unpretentious, good food, fast service. Take it for what it is. The peanut sauce I'm dipping in right now is fantastic! My only complaint about the spring rolls here is that they'd be better with a little mint or Thai basil and shredded carrot wrapped along with the shrimp. Other than that, everything is fresh and delicious...my spicy central pho arrived just as I'm finishing this paragraph! It smells great! I'll come back to Pho Saigon Star. We live near Pho Saigon Star and are so pleased that the first time we ordered there (tonight 7-5-22), the delivery time was outstanding (15 minutes) and the food was delicious. I've been to Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand and this food was authentic. I got the Punang curry combo (with shrimp, beef, and chicken), and my husband got Pad Thai. They were both excellent. Really delicious! This place was super quick, I ordered and within 3 minutes they had my food in a bag ready to go. Not to mention the broth was PIPING HOT. They give you a plethora of toppings for you pho. Including the normal, sprouts, mint leaves, noodles, jalepenos, green onions, white onions, ect. Like most pho places, there was more than enough for 2 meals. I was so pleased to eat the second half the next day for lunch and be completely full! Yesterday I found myself tooling around Denver near the DU campus and thinking I'd like to try some Thai food in Denver, my friend and I stopped in here. We went with the basic chicken pad thai as our entrance into the delicacies offered at Pho Saigon Star, along with an order of spring rolls. The restaurant itself was great. From the outside, I was expecting a little hole in the wall restaurant, but there were actually bright colors, it was clean, and the ease of take-out boxes and other things was really great in terms of having a good experience. Since the restaurant serves both Vietnamese and Thai food, I'm guessing we just missed on the specialty of the restaurant. The pad thai just had a more tomato-based taste to it than I am used to. It was good, but it missed the mark slightly on what I was expecting to find. The spring rolls were delicious and the peanut sauce that came with them was great! They were not as complex as some spring rolls I've had, but the simplicity of them allowed me to enjoy them just as much. Overall, I'm excited to give the restaurant another shot in the future. I think they can continue to serve some good food, and I still took the leftovers home with me. read more

Oh my pho-king GAWD! This place is wonderful for 3 reasons: 1. It's fast. I often receive my food only 5 minutes after ordering. 2. It's delicious. Make sure you put those sauces on the side of the table into your broth! 3. It's so close. I have to avert my eyes on my daily walk past it because I can't afford to eat here 3 times a day, everyday. This place has decent food but I was totally turned off when I got up to use the restroom before our food arrived and their bathroom as a mouse poison contraption with mouse droppings in it. Their toilet paper was sitting on the lid of the toilet and the paper towel rolls were sitting on the ledge of the sink, both very gross and unsanitary.
