The food has always been excellent. The Portobello mushroom appetizer is an absolute must-order--it's one of our favorite dishes anywhere in the Keys. The Veal Parmesan is another standout. It's everything you'd hope for in a classic Parmesan, and the veal has been perfectly cooked every time we've ordered it. One convenient perk is that they'll deliver directly to your room at Hadley House across the street, making it a great option if you don't feel like going back out for dinner. A couple things to know before you go: they serve beer and wine but no liquor or cocktails, and dinner entrées aren't available until after 5:00 p.m. Unfortunately, our most recent visit was disappointing because of the service. We requested to sit outside, but before we were even seated, the waitress repeatedly tried to discourage us, first saying it was too hot and then insisting we needed to move inside because it had started raining. At the time, it was only a very light sprinkle. She began clearing items from the outdoor tables and rushed another couple who had been happily dining outside, removing the salt and pepper from their table and making them feel so hurried that the gentleman spilled his beer while trying to get up. The entire interaction felt uncomfortable and unwelcoming, and we ultimately decided to leave without ordering. Despite that experience, the quality of the food has consistently been outstanding over the years. We're hoping our last visit was simply an off day because it's a restaurant we've genuinely enjoyed and recommended many times.
