This is an amazing spot for all pizza lovers. I tried the Burrata pizza and the Katy trail pizza. The crust that they are able to develop is fantastic - crunchy but still with a slight chew to it. The toppings on the burrata pizza complemented each other and it wasn't too heavy either. The Katy trail on the other hand was a little too heavy on the cheese for my taste and it caused the crust to loose its crunch when not either fast enough. In addition, the free bread was super soft and was just as good as the pizza. read more

This place is a very pretty and romantic venue. Service is great. And is in a very nice neighborhood, that you can walk around do some shopping. There pizzas and pastas are great. We have been here many times and also order to go. Only on day on a Friday it was really busy and the food was not that good. We order a leek soup that it was not good. Also a pizza and the raviolis. Don't eat here. The food is bland. Simple as that. I ordered the bruschetta with added mozzarella and a truffle cream pasta. Why not create flavorful food? I had to add so much salt to my pasta and even then it was forgettable. I'm convinced the chef is also not salting the water they boil the noodles in. Ugh. So disappointed. How are people enjoying this? Why do they not have someone tasting the food before serving? read more

If you are going to participate in third party delivery services, then perhaps it would be a prudent business practice to provide a similar level of service to those for in-house patrons. Or any service at all frankly! We naively ordered several dinners where bread was requested in the notes only to have nothing upon receipt of the order. Who served pasta without at least an option for bread?? But we love the pasta so wanted to try to find a way to just get a little small favor to make it right. So - wrongfully in hindsight - I decided to enlist the help of the restaurant manager. And in that very eve of her making sure we received our bread, we received a "duplicate" order but with only one pasta and no bread. Lo and behold our order when I texted the manager was still sitting there. Strike four. After one successful order we tried to do the same this evening only to receive the completely wrong order. Once again and after several orders where simple requests were completely ignored. When calling the driver within two minutes upon recipt, he said no I only had your order and after waiting forever the manager handed to me and said this is for David. So once again our one night where we sit down together ruined. Even when you thought you had a plan. What was so ridiculous - and why this review is here - is said manager had the audacity to blame the driver. Um no Vegas odds are strongly against your track record. read more

I was super excited to try Taverna but it was pretty underwhelming and disappointing. We ordered the cheese and meat platter which was the best part of the meal. We ordered the gnocchi and the carbonara along with one of the pizzas. Everything just lacked flavor and was very bland. The gnocchi was overcooked and mushy but I will say the short rib meat sauce was very good. Carbonara just tasted like butter noodles. The pizza was just fine, nothing special. They were very busy which gave the place a great energy. Overall I wasn't very impressed. read more

Taverna was the first restaurant I actually went out to dinner for when I moved to Dallas TX in 2006 because I had read they had good pizza here. I decided to come to Taverna for Sunday brunch with a friend. We came for a 10 am reservation, the time they open. I was a bit surprised when I was sat by the host in the outer porch area which seemed too cold for my companion and me to sit at. So, they changed our seat to in the restaurant which was warmer. I ordered traditional egg scrambled/bacon crispy, potato and my friend ordered one of the omelets. And we each ordered one of the reasonably priced mimosas. My eggs and bacon were good, simple and clean. It came with a slice of dry Italian bread, so I asked for butter. The potatoes were deep-fried and a major disappointment. I look for restaurants that want to earn my return visit, to do something on the plate that makes it special/unique to make me want to return for what is now a normal $25 breakfast/brunch tab. The mimosa was a bit light on the orange juice but I didn't mind that. My friend who ordered the chorizo omlette was disappointed as he thought it was light on the filling. We went on a busy night and we did have a large party of 7 people. We were told 45 min so we sat at the bar for a drink. 45 min later I went to check on our table just to find out they had marked us off the list. I had to chat with the manager and he assured me the next large table is for us. It took another 20-30 min to get a table which is not ideal when you have some hungry, cranky people in your party. Once we sat down however things smoothed out - service was good, food came out at a reasonable time and most importantly it was very delicious. It would have been a perfect evening if it wasn't for the snafu at beginning. Would definitely give them another shot next we're in the Dallas area. read more

The patio is really cute and I like that on a nice day, they keep the doors open in the main dining room so that you too can enjoy the fresh air. I was not aware that they do not have a license to serve alcohol, so when I ordered an aperol spritz, theirs had a base of wine. It was still good, but if you want something like a Bloody Mary, it's not going to happen. For our meal, we shared the lump crab benedict and the french toast and while it was good, I have had much better. The lump crab was pretty skimpy and the benedict overall lacked flavoring and the french toast was rather bland. read more

Really great spot for carbonara. I went on a Saturday so it was a little busy for brunch as expected. Food came out pretty quickly and tasted delicious! I wish there were more options as far as pasta goes but they do offer a lot of other selections. Will come back for sure! read more

I frequent this restaurant quite often as it is right the down the street from my home, the staff is always so welcoming and really makes an effort to provide a great dining experience. Ana and Hugo behind the bar are very knowledgeable about their wines and the menu which is always a plus. One of the managers, a nice younger lady named Alex I believe, is always extremely accommodating and checks in with you on food and service! She is always smiling which is nice to see in the restaurant business these days. The carbonara is a must try, as well as the Carpaccio. I also love any of the pizza's or salads! read more

I ordered the Homemade Fiocchi Al Gorgonzola through Uber Eats. I'm so glad I had a coupon that gave me a decent discount on my order because I don't think my portion size could fees a mouse. Place is good because of location but overall it is okay overpriced for some mid food that made my stomach hurt. Also if you try to come here for a lunch after walking the Katy trial I would go somewhere else because you will get looks and they will take forever to come up to you.. read more

Another truly wonderful experience at Taverna. Went on a random weeknight for dessert and got to sit on the side patio which definitely gave me a vibe that I was not in Dallas. The waiter was a delight, so friendly and attentive even after we said we were only here for coffee and dessert. We went pretty late in the night but didn't feel rushed or neglected at all. We ordered the tiramisu again and the panna cotta and oh man- I'm still thinking about that panna cotta. Overall just a wonderful evening on a perfect fall night. Taverna has proven itself to be a restaurant in a regular rotation as every time I've come, the food, service, and ambiance have been amazing. read more

Very good Italian restaurant with all the comfort Italian specialties you would expect from a neighborhood Trattoria. Located on Knox Street, near the SMU campus. Taverna is a warm and inviting neighborhood restaurant that offers a great atmosphere, great food, great service and reasonable pricing. This is a great spot, especially if you are a Risotto fan. I also recommend the Taverna Focaccia and be sure to add the Chili Oil, it pulls together the dish. Another fave is the Paglia E Fieno and the brunch is good - just get there early (crowded.) read more

They need to stop serving the cacio e Pepe. Worst version I have ever had. No cheese flavor, just noodle and bland pepper. I've had it in Italy, NY and all over Dallas; this just wasn't good. The waiter tried to warn me. The bruschetta lacked zing. Usually I get the filete di manzo here and that is excellent! I regretted passing it up. My table mates got specials and those were great. The desserts were all good! Nutella cheesecake is tasty (but little Nutella). The flourless chocolate cake was drool worthy, and the panna cotta was wonderful. Good wine choices, no liquor. read more

Outdoor seating was available but we chose to eat indoors like crazy people. The wait for our drinks was a little long but that's to be expected on a busy Friday night. The steak frites was made to perfection and the drinks were a 6/10. Sooo we wanted to splurge on some good Italian food especially in uptown. Failed immensely. My dish of the night risotto with lump crab was watery and chewy. Nothing like what risotto should be. A classic spot on Knox! Have been coming here for years and never disappointed. Service is always great and food is solid. A little bit of a pricier spot for Italian food but the experience is always worth it. I personally prefer their pasta dishes to their pizzas (there are many places in dallas with better pizza). Salads here are also great. Can go ahead and skip the focaccia (too thin to be authentic focaccia, and sometimes comes out burnt). Overall, still one of my favorite Italian restaurants in dallas, with great atmosphere, great service, and good food! read more

Always a great Italian option. Any time I visit Dallas I may it a point to eat here. The food, service and location are all top notch. My 15 years old daughter recommended this restaurant to us. The service was friendly and the food tasted delicious. Not too salty or too sweet like traditional American food. This place is out of this world. Would order all of these dishes again. In a city full of restaurants, this is one I will come back to every single time I'm in Dallas. Absolutely 5 stars. Brava.

Barsotti's is absolutely worth a visit. Casual yet elegant, right in the heart of North Oak Lawn.

Wow. Worst service ever. Our waiter "greeted" our table with "shall I get you a bottle and five…read moreglasses?" Presumably meaning wine, but we were considering cocktails and a bit confused by the question. He said "I'll come back when you're ready," and disappeared for the first of many long absences. From the beginning it felt like we were ruining his life. He was cheerless and curt and wouldn't make eye contact with anyone. It would be more understandable if the restaurant was super busy or understaffed. But this was Monday at 6 pm. We listed a birthday on the reservation, but it wasn't acknowledged. Why bother to ask if we are celebrating? We waited for empty plates and glasses to be cleared between courses. We waited a long time for him to return so we could order a second glass of wine. Even longer for the plates to be cleared and longer still for the opportunity to order dessert...a piece of cake for the birthday girl and two after dinner drinks...but the drinks weren't picked up from the bar when the cake was delivered, and only remembered when we asked for the check. We watched him pick them up (well after the cake was consumed) on his way to leave the bill. No mention that they had been overlooked, no thank you, no good night. This was our first time at Barsotti's and it will be our last. Aside from the awful service, we had issues with the food as well. The veal was pounded paper thin and fried hard resulting in a tough, chewy texture similar to dried beef or jerky. It was dry and overcooked on two different dishes. On a more positive note, we enjoyed the fried ravioli appetizer and the redfish was fine. While our waiter was largely MIA and unpleasant when he did show up, the bus boy/assistant was gracious and attentive. Maybe he was trying to compensate for his colleague. BTW, the offensive employee was in his late 40s to mid 50s with a slight build and salt and pepper hair.

Salads were nice and very fresh tasting. They certainly weren't bagged lettuce as you get in some restaurants these days. For entrées, the pasta Gianni was the big hit. Great flavor and you have your option on pasta and I chose penne. For dessert we had the special cheesecake which was amazing. Prices for wine, cocktails, and food are all very reasonable. We had a really nice time.
