T Chicken Tenders: They were pretty Good didn't expect to like them that much. My only complaint is they got real soggy when you got to the mid/bottom they were soggy! If you intend to eat at the GREEN building location near SMU, you want to eat at the Hillcrest location. If you want to eat at the Preston location (in the strip mall parking lot with Central Market), go to this location on Preston. I say that because some genius posted the wrong building photos on each address location. The photos of the green building are NOT for the Preston location! Having said that.... The location is on the corner of Preston & Royal... in the same parking lot with Central Market. Parking was great because it's in a strip mall parking lot. So there was adequate parking. Great location, great vibe on the inside. We were able to walk in and get a table in 30 minutes. We waited at the bar and tried an appetizer. Then got seated when our table became open. As I said, we ordered an appetizer. Try the smoked salmon! That with the sauce is AMAZING! I wasn't too crazy about the pita bread pairing. They could have used a crispier bread to contrast it. But it's worth getting. My wife ordered a grilled chicken Cesar salad. She loved it. The dressing was more like a vinaigrette. I ordered the chicken tenders with honey mustard and mashed potatoes. All great choices. The mashed potatoes had carrot bits in them (I'm not a carrot guy), but the mashed potatoes tasted great. So I didn't mind the carrots. We tried the pizza. We ordered a Chicago pizza and added pepperoni and sausage. That with the hot honey was a smash hit. To be honest, the pizza wasn't so great the next day. If you're a fan of Houston's chicken tenders or smoked salmon, you'll love this place. I won't say that DL Mack's copied it. The happy hour was bar/ bar seats only, then it went restaurant-wide, then it went back to bar seats exclusively. They took my favorite drink off the happy hour, the frozen paloma and more disappointingly, I just never know what to expect when I walk in any more. Bar used to be PACKED and now it seems not so much. Nothing that disappoints more than a restaurant with no consistency in menu, happy hour and general expectations. I absolutely love DL Mack's - I've been to both locations and the service, food, and atmosphere never disappoints! They have a daily happy hour from 3-6, even weekends, in the bar area and on the patio. Their happy hour specials include martinis, wine and pizzas. Tonight we got drinks, the Bill Murray Special (pizza), the McCarthy salad, and a side of the spicy rigatoni. We first tried D.L. Mack's a few years back and were very impressed when they first opened. Their food is mostly good (although small menu), and most of the servers we've gotten have been friendly. Some of them lack knowledge on allergen information, which, at this price point is disappointing. The atmosphere is top notch and feels unique. Where things turned south is their constant price hikes, patio closures, and insistence on shutting out the happy hour. For the uninitiated, they ONLY offer happy hour for the bar, patio, and few 2-person tables. We have walked in multiple times to find those areas packed while the rest of the restaurant sits empty. If you go for the happy hour and they are full, your choices are then left with paying full price or leaving - while the restaurant sits half empty! This is infuriating. We feel many of these decisions have been made without the customer in mind. Worthy of a note - don't go here if you have a party more than 4 people. They only have 2 tables in the entire restaurant that can hold more than 4. read more

Discriminates against the elderly and infirm. I waited for a table with my mother far beyond the wait time we were given. My mother has Parkinson's and is 89. We were told it would be 30 minutes. We waited while everyone else got seated, and then at least three other parties who arrived after us were seated. Casual Elegance. This is not a fine dining experience which is the only reason it doesn't have 5 stars, that's just how I do my grades/reviews but the ambiance and service was top level. The lighting was also perfect, moody enough to be romantic but not dark. The hostess was sweet and gracious, our server Sarah was charming and helpful and, manager Caitlin was attentive and hospitable. We had a drink at the stylish bar while we waited for our table and enjoyed 2 perfectly executed martinis. I did think, the spinach dip was severely overpriced but it was good.
