The Tavern is the kind of place that makes you feel good about choosing brunch over sleeping in -- mostly. We rolled in on a Saturday morning with a reservation, which turned out to be unnecessary given how quiet it was, but better safe than sorry. The space has an easy, unhurried feel that suits the occasion. We opened with the Rosemary Biscuits, which were a pleasant surprise. "Rosemary" in a dish name can be a warning sign -- a threat that your food will taste like a herb garden -- but these were beautifully restrained. Large, fluffy, and just fragrant enough to feel intentional. A strong start. For entrees, the Pork Chop and Eggs was the clear star of the table. Pork chops are a high-wire act -- one minute too long and you're chewing through disappointment -- but The Tavern nailed it. Tender, perfectly cooked, with over-easy eggs that were exactly what over-easy eggs should be. Runny yolk, no apologies. The classic Eggs Benedict, unfortunately, told a different story. The eggs came overcooked, with yolks that had fully set -- a cardinal sin for a dish that lives and dies by that golden, runny center. It's possible the kitchen was compensating for a slow morning, or possibly recooking after an earlier mishap, because service for food was noticeably sluggish despite the restaurant not being particularly busy. The Tavern has real promise, and the pork chop alone is worth the trip. Get the biscuits. Order the pork chop. And if you go for the Eggs Benedict, maybe specify that you'd like your yolks to still have a pulse. read more

Great place! Stopped by during happy hour, one of the best happy hour deals. I stopped for an appetizer and a drink. I had the salmon plate (it was half off because of happy hour!). Nice beer selection too. I really enjoyed the salmon, tasted very fresh, like it did up in WA. Bar tender had a large group to serve and was still pretty quick with the orders, very friendly also. I noticed that the meals were large portions and looked really good. I met a couple people at the bar there and they love it here. It started out with our server assuming it was someone else's birthday in our party. It was too awkward to correct them so we just ran with it. Not really that big of a deal. About 5 minutes into being seating at our table, an intoxicated man from a large party gets up and approaches the table next to ours. They begin chatting loudly and then starts advertising his furniture store and is handing out business cards. After 10 minutes of this, a server stops by this man offers to buy a round of drinks for the table he approached and the server obliged. A manager also witnessed this occurring and didn't intervene. Their conversation was so loud that we couldn't hear what our server was telling us a few steps from our table. After 20 minutes and a sarcastic comment about being allergic to drunk loud patrons to our server, we were offered to move tables and we obliged. The food was good, but I wouldn't call it great. The pappardelle had at least 50 whole peppercorns in it and was unpleasant to eat. I'm not sure if this was a mistake or intentional. Mac and Cheese was some of the most dry, crunchy mac and cheese I've ever had, which is a total head-scratcher considering the scallops and miso cod were both really good. Unfortunately, Grace is not a restaurant that I would recommend to anyone unless you like throwing away money for a mid-tier experience. There are better steaks and restaurants that have better service and quality for your money... Wicked Butcher, Toro Toro, and Clay Pigeon are a few recommendations. The Mont on the west side of 820 gets a special shout-out. TLDR: Grace has a great historical reputation, but has since been surpassed by more modern restaurants in both value and service. Go elsewhere.

I appreciate the fact that they have yummy crispy lentil cakes for those times (like last night) when I'm taking a "meat break" (lol). I created a meal of crispy lentil cakes, macaroni & cheese, and crispy brussels sprouts. The lentil cakes are hearty and well seasoned and crispy as advertised. My two sides were also good. My hubby (and a veteran) got the Delmonico ribeye and we both agree that it's the best steak we have had in the city of Fort Worth. My Manhattan cocktail was the icing on the cake. Our server, Wendy, was delightful and took good care of us at a good pace. We have always enjoyed good service at this restaurant. The ambiance is nice and cozy. Even though it was very busy here last night, it still felt cozy.

The atmosphere is refined yet homey, the attention to detail because they value your dining experience, not one bit pretentious. Everyone was happy to be there; working or dining. Our kind, ultra-competent host, Lety, is both a customer advocate, and business promoter, offering information and guidance, willing guests to make the most of their visit and sample all that is best about the menu. Our dinner for three: Summer roasted corn soup and fried green tomatoes to start, pan seared pork and tea-brined chicken entrees, bargain-priced bottle of Italian wine, house-made ice cream and bread pudding for dessert. This review would go on and on if I described each delicious dish - every morsel deeply and fully enjoyed (see picture of chicken dish ).
