I got the pancakes and it was $13 for average size pancakes and they didn't come with a side. The Tavern is a nice little spot with a nicely diverse menu - without being cluttered with options. We were seated immediately in the heated patio, which was warm and comfortable. The server brought our waters quickly and we ordered a glass of wine from their wine list. We also got their queso and guacamole - it is important to note their queso is more of a spicy pimento cheese than a "traditional" queso dip. With that clarification, it was delicious. The guacamole, salsa, and queso all tasted amazing and worked well together. I ordered the ribs with fries and my wife got the enchiladas. Both meals came out hot and cleanly plated. The ribs were tender, juicy, and well sauced. The fries were fairly basic, nothing to call out specifically. It also came with a mayo-based slaw that gave the meal a nice creamy crunch. The enchiladas came with a side of rice and beans, and were fine overall. The server was kind and attentive. He made sure to keep our waters full and to check if we neded anything else. The Tavern is worth checking out for a nice lunch out, for sure. We'll definitely check it out again to try some of the other menu items. read more

So I attempted to eat here yesterday at about 5:10 pm. The restaurant is only 1/4 full. Here is how it went: "One for a booth, please." We don't have any tables right now, but there is no wait at the bar. I guessing they have only one waiter or something. "No, I don't want the bar." I can take your name if you want to wait. "Ok." And I give my name, phone number, etc. "It will be about a two hour wait." Again, I'm confused since the place is mostly empty so I express my bewilderment to her. "We have lots of reservations." So I'm incredibly annoyed at this point, not because they have reservations because Blondie here obviously thinks jerking me around is funny. Here is how this should have went from the get go: We have approximately a two hour wait at the moment, but you are welcome to sit at the bar as it's open seating. So I instead spent my money at Meso Maya down the road. I might have been been open to the bar if that was made clear to me that they had reservations. read more

Food is always great. Drinks are great. Service is dismal. The staff is always bright, cheerful, knowledgeable, helpful, .... and super slow. I have to literally BEG for the check when I am done dining. Servers seem to camp out of sight so when one needs something they are not to be found. When they finally do come out to serve a particular table they usually ignore the rest of their station unless they have nothing else to do. This is a front of house problem. They don't seem to know how to train proper service for this price point. Happy hour is a bit silly. weekdays 3:30 to 5:30 .. really? timing is silly. Happy hour is supposed to entice the office workers to stop for a drink after work .. not leave early because they have a drinking problem. The hosts never mention happy hour when you arrive, then when you are sat at a table the server informs you they don't serve happy hour at the table(only the bar). Got re-sat by the server who just wondered off and didn't bother telling the bartenders they had a new table. Bartender showed up sans menu. Manager completely absent. We were there from 5 PM to 7 PM and not one pass by the front of house manager, in fact, it didn't even look like they were present. I have really tried to like the place since the upgrade post-covid, but the service has really taken a dive due to lack of proper training. FoH manager needs to be replaced. read more

Pleasant Brunch Time for brunch and this was in the local area. Mostly locals here for sure. Atmosphere definitely casual pub, but comfortable. Wasn't real busy so no problem being seated. Waiter was friendly and courteous. I ordered the French Toast with a side of Bacon and my spouse had the Crab Benedict. Presentation was was decent and portions normal size. Both meals were tasty but the Crab Benedict was not prepared as requested. Eggs were over cooked and hard we requested runny eggs. Parking is available in the area but there were lots of cars. A SWING AND A MISS! I have been a major fan of this restaurant over the years and even go to the other places in this restaurant group. The food and service had always been on point and in and out within an hour. On Friday we were on that side of town and decided to stop in for a bite. While the food was still really good, the time to get the food was well over 40 minutes. I'm not sure if they are still working though things since the remodel or if they were short staffed. If it is a staffing issue, then they should be up front and tell you that things are running a bit slow. You might ask if I will go back and the answer to that is yes. I'm a huge fan of this place. I have come here for years and have yet to have a subpar food experience. I normally order the French Dip Sandwich (sadly only available on Fridays now), Sonoma Steak Salad, Rainbow Trout or their Lemon Sole Picatta. All of them are fantastic. The Macaroni and Cheese is delicious but extremely rich. If you like Key Lime Pie I recommend trying it! I'm not a huge fan of the Zuni Chicken Salad but that's simply a taste preference. I have had a few instances where the staff seems put off by having to serve you but perhaps they were having a bad day. Normally I have prompt, attentive service. Emilee is my fave! The atmosphere is laid back (though very much business casual) during lunch with a dimmer more upscale feeling for dinner. I used to go here for Happy Hour after work to have their margarita's. I just found out on my last visit that they have brunch! I haven't tried out their brunch menu but plan to soon. My aunt and I were out running errands, and she mentioned grabbing a late lunch. Since we were in the Hulen/Chisholm Trail area, she suggested The Tavern. Having seen this place several times, I always thought it was a bar or night club of sorts. Since I don't drink alcohol, there was never any reason to give this place a second thought. Upon entering the establishment, I was pleased by the chic interior and ambiance. We were promptly seated, and Chris, our very professional server, knew his role well and served us with excellence. He went above and beyond my expectation. I had the Mexican Enchiladas. (That's how it's listed on the menu.) The dish came with two chicken enchiladas with rice draped with black beans. The meal was out of this world. The price of the plate was $15, and I would have gladly paid more...it was that good! I will definitely come here again, and you should too. read more

I eat at this restaurant once a month sometimes more. I drive from Aledo and my friend who joins me constantly Mrs in from Colleyville. Very disappointed with my beak today. Ordered the special Fried Flounder (overcooked) instead if Spanish had the special asparagus ... wasn't told mashed potatoes were part if this special but they were cold so h didn't eat them. My biggest complaint if the asparagus (2 stalks with tips then 5 ends holding up the 2 stalks). What happened to the 5 tips? Meal totally misrepresented and although my best friend and I eat here quite often I will be removing it from my GO-TO eating places. The service was fabulous. read more

I've been going to The Tavern for years several time a month because it is near my office. The last 2 times my food came out slightly warm or cold. This week the fries were stone cold and my chicken sandwich just warm enough to call it warm. But you could tell it had been sitting out a while before delivery to me because the cheese which clearly had been melted was already no longer in a melted state. Awhile back, they changed the recipe of the crispy chicken sandwich and it's not as good. I don't know what's going on, but it's trending in the wrong direction. Such a shame because it's been one of my favorite spots for a long time. Not sure I'll go back. If I do, it will be too give it one last shot at redemption given my years of positive history there. read more

One of my friends recommended me this restaurant, so I decided to check it out. I ordered from the brunch menu and got the blueberry pancakes, mushroom & spinach omelette, and a slice of the cornbread. I have to say, it's quite rare for me to eat the crumbs off my plates and thwas one of those rare cases. The blueberry pancakes were super fluffy and had an extremely sweet and nice texture, and the omelette was cooked perfectly. Within the omelette, the mushroom and spinach were still warm. Although the potatoes weren't the main part of the dish, I do have to say the potatoes were my favorite past of my meal. It was seasoned quite well and wasn't too firm or soft. Few things I noticed during my experience was that first, one of the receptionists would open the door for you before you enter/leave. Second, the restroom is quite nice. It wasn't some regular paper towels you find at other restaurants but actually a fancy white disposable towel. Our waitress, Jennifer, took care of us quite well. I will be back! read more

Haven't been in a couple months but heard some real bad stuff about how terrible the management has been treating the employees. Yikes. After talking to some employees I found out that some lady manager was apart of why this place is absolutely garbage now! We really enjoyed this restaurant. From the outside I didn't think it would be as elegant as it was. The menus has many delicious sounding options to choose from. I had an all in all enjoyable time at The Tavern last week, although I was pretty sad they were out of prosecco when we were excited to order a bottle for $20! That's a damn good price for a bottle of wine at a restaurant like this. We opted for a $27 bottle of alabrino instead, which was slightly too sweet for my taste, but still good. Extremely cold and refreshing, so that was nice. When we were getting ready to order food, I asked the waitress if they had any gluten-free options or a gluten-free menu, and she simply said, "no." That threw me off just a bit. Typically, if a restaurant doesn't have a printed GF menu, they'll say to me, "we don't have a menu, but we can accommodate!" Or, "let me know what you're interested in ordering and I'll check with the chef." Or, "here's what we have that's gluten-free..." It's kinda weird to just be told, "no." So that was a little strange, but no big deal. We started with the fire roasted artichokes. They looked beautiful and had great flavor, although the leaves were just a bit tough in my opinion. The chipotle sauce they came with was pretty addictive. Then, we decided to share the roasted pork nachos. Great presentation and really delicious flavor, again. This plate of nachos is on the appetizer menu, but it's pretty huge. A great dish for sharing. It comes with cheese, pork, tomatoes, cilantro, black beans, and that same chipotle sauce we had on our artichoke. The ambiance at The Tavern is comfortable and casual, and I like the giant chalkboard that lists the nightly dinner specials. There's a tiny little outdoor patio that's pretty cute, and inside there's a great bar and big, cozy booths. I think I'll give this place another try and order an entree sometime soon; their braised ribs and farmer's market veggies sound too good to miss out on. read more

Was excited to take my friend here for her birthday as she had never been. As always the food was outstanding but our service was horrible! I told her it was my friends birthday thinking she would be attentive! Wrong! I am so torn bc this place has been a staple for years. I went in to get a spicy pasta dish and the deviled eggs and this whiskey drink that used to be a signature drink. However, the pasta dish and whisky drink were no longer on the menu, so I went for the deviled eggs, oysters Rockefeller, and the side saddle drink. The drink was just mediocre that you can get anywhere, nothing standout but still Tavern prices ($13). The deviled eggs were amazing as always! In my opinion, best in Fort Worth. However, the oysters Rockefeller were served with fried oysters in what I believe were not even real oyster shells, It was all breading, and s pea sized oyster inside a ton of chicken-fried breading. You could not even remotely taste the oyster. I do not believe these were fresh-shucked at all. They could have come from a can for all I know. So, I basically paid $20 for six spoonfuls of cream spinach with some chicken-fried breading on top. I am a foodie and support chefs putting a modern touch on classic dishes. However, it needs to be printed on the menu when it is a deviation from a classic, well-known dish. The menu said nothing about frying the oysters, and I would have not ordered if i had known. We stumbled upon this spot after heading to Ft Worth to get our vaccine. Even though restrictions had technically been lifted they are still very safe and we are extremely cautious so that's saying a lot. But the best part about our visit was the French dip sandwich. I've had them a bunch of places and this place hands down easily has the best one I've ever tasted! We loved it so much when we had to go back to fr Worth to get our second dose we made sure to go back here and get another one and it was just as amazing as the first.
