Delish! From the moment you walk in 1888 doesn't disappoint...great lighting, music nice and at a level that encourages conversation and spot on service making for any overall great vibe. Our server, Angela, never missed a beat when we ordered things out of order, took way too many pics of our food...and the food was great form poke to steak to cheesecake. Must go if you are in Eureka!

I was so excited to try this new restaurant in the Eagle House! The owners of this place really know how to decorate and make an old town Victorian feel cozy. There is a nice lounge area in the front and a more intimate dining area in the back. We arrived early, just after they opened thinking we'd do cocktails & appetizers. We arrived excited to be there and we were met with a very unwelcoming hostess. With a completely EMPTY restaurant she told us we would be the ONLY people seated tonight without a reservation and then took a call right in front of us while we were waiting to be seated. Then after she hung up the phone, made us stand there waiting to be seated while she wrote her effing dissertation in the reservation book. So that was kind of a bummer. But we were NOT going to let her ruin our date night! We were seated and our server was awesome. Super friendly and attentive. Had great food & cocktail recommendations. We had the clam chowder to start, and it was more like a watery seafood stew with extra potatoes. Not that creamy chowder we were hoping for. We ordered 2 delicious cocktails. Then we had the poke tower and the crab cakes appetizers. YUM!! Both delicious. My only complaint was the plate the poke bowl was served on had all of this water on it. Maybe from the seaweed? It might have been better served in a bowl. When we left at around 7, the tables were about half full and so was the lounge. On a Saturday night. So I'm not sure what the hostess was talking about. I wonder if she would have turned us away if we had arrived then? Anyway, good help is hard to find in Humboldt County!

Get here now and indulge your senses! Wonderful upgrade to the historic eagle house! First off the build out is amazing, and the interior design aone should let you know what heaven awaits your taste buds inside! Wonderful Snacks, Great Drinks, and Delicious Mains with excellent service...wow.. there currently is not an equal for this flavor county wide, try for yourself and see! We sat in Dani's section and she couldn't have been more on point. Her knowledge of the menu, the drinks and the current pace of the kitchen left us zero surprises, and it was packed. We tried multiple drinks, all the fresh fish (poke, lomi), and we were very impressed! Danis reccomendations were spot on, and you could tell she had tasted everything she reccomended, her attention details and flavors were second to none. Overall what a great meal! Well done and we will be back!!!

Located below our room at the Inn at 2nd & C, the decor of Tavern 1888 is warm and inviting. Was a little dark to read the menu but that could have been because we just drove 7 hours to get here and my eyes were drowsy. Day two of our 16 day vacation. Ordered an Old Fashion and a Filet. Upon first glance, I thought that the sauce was going to over power the taste of the steak but the two complimented each other very nicely. The waitstaff was very nice and personable.

This restaurant deserves more than 5 stars! I've been here twice now, first for prom and the second time tonight. When I heard they were closing I was so sad to lose this place. It made an outstanding impression the first time and I couldn't wait to go back. Tonight was just as amazing. The staff is so kind and attentive. The food is some of the best in Humboldt and I'm disappointed I didn't come more often. This place is truly a gem and a loss for our community. The restaurant has an intimate atmosphere and elegant decor. I definitely recommend you go before they close on August 31st!!

Really good food and drinks in a cozy old hotel. Really enjoyed the local oysters from nearby Humboldt Bay. I'll definitely be back.

We enjoyed our dinner here so much. Our server was friendly and helpful. The bread and oil plate comes with 5 large pieces of warm focaccia bread, and my husband said, "that's too much!" I quickly replied, "no it isn't!!!" The bread was perfect. We had the mango noodle appetizer and it was very good and fresh. We also had the chapli kebab. We had never had this before and found it delicious! I am hoping to recreate it once we're home again. Our main was seared scallops and they were cooked perfectly. The meal was innovative and we only wished we lived closer to go back again.

What a delicious meal and beautiful surroundings! This restaurant is a gem here in Eureka. I had the catch of the day: halibut with bok choy, brussel sprouts and roasted potatoes. I couldn't eat it all because the portion was quite generous, but I wanted to. If I lived here it would be my go-to place for a nice meal out!

This place is incredible!! Best modern/hip restaurant in Humboldt! Everything was delicious- the non-alcoholic cocktail, Sasspresso and the alcoholic Turkish delight coffee cocktails were amazing.. Entrees were the shrimp, cod and grits.. the best grits I've ever had! The mushroom vegan dinner was very fresh and good. For dessert, the lemon pound cake trifle was fabulous! Service was wonderful even though they were very busy the night we came. Already excited for my next visit!

My bartender was funny, kind and gracious and made me feel welcome and appreciated RGT&TR is an eclectic mix of folks from 21 and up, a large portion of the room is also over 40. The room is a smaller space with a mixture booths and chairs, a singular bar with about 6 to 8 or so stools, along with a few tables and chairs and also an outdoor seating area. The noodles were really good bar food, and my draft a decent pour. Having a nice hot green tea afterwards was a treat and that made my visit even more enjoyable and not like I was just hanging out in a bar. 3.5 Stars a cool neighborhood tavern with decent bar food and drink, rounded up for my bartender 00956

(Warning to straight white men) This place presents itself…read moreas inclusive, but I've personally heard complaints from two other straight white men who felt stigmatized here. What I experienced was the most humiliating nightlife situation I've ever dealt with, and it's something I'm still affected by when I go out in this small community. I had been going to The Goat on and off for about a year prior with no issues. No other establishment has ever had a problem with me. I'm sober and respectful. One night I was talking to a woman when a very drunk guy came up to me and asked, "Are you spiking drinks tonight?" I honestly thought he was joking and said, "No... what the hell?" To this day I do not know whether this guy was jealous because he wanted to talk to her, or if he genuinely believed something had happened to someone he knows. Either way, he had the wrong guy. He came back even more intoxicated and wanted to fight me. He was with a large friend group and was clearly the most drunk among them. I went to the bartender (Toss) and told him a guy was making serious accusations I did something I didn't do and was trying to fight me, and asked for help. What I didn't expect was a guilty-until-proven-innocent response. I wasn't asked questions or given any chance to explain. I was told there had been "several reports" that night and I was asked to leave, even though the other guy was the one threatening violence. I followed up with ownership/management over the phone the next couple of days. They told me there was no evidence of anything, that I wasn't banned, and to ignore the people involved and just enjoy my nights as long as I wasn't creating issues. I did exactly that. However, The Goat is a very clicky LGBTQ community, and after that night I was clearly socially targeted. Toss would follow me around whenever I showed up. On Sunday, the only unusual thing I did was leave the crowded karaoke room early and later take a nap in my car because I was exhausted from working earlier that day. I didn't even feel safe driving at that point. Then on Tuesday, I showed up and was told I could not come back due to another "cluster of complaints," including something about me being on my phone, which made no sense. I asked them to check the cameras because I didn't do anything wrong. Later that same Tuesday night, I saw Toss at Everett's, intoxicated, telling the owner I should be 86'd, citing these vague "incidents." I was just playing pool. I have no way to defend myself against false claims like this. No one ever complained about me before that first incident. I've spent years in Chico's bar scene with a solid reputation. False accusations are incredibly damaging. I would never spike drinks and wouldn't even know how. I don't think they realize this is bullying and harmful. I did nothing wrong, yet standing up for myself has gotten me nowhere.
