Caesar salad with mahi mahi and burger/tots in the background
Ally H.

I was between 4 and 5 stars here. We found the place on yelp with great reviews and were near by. Service was great (even though there was one server/bartender for the whole place). Way to go that guy! (Forgot his name). We got the bacon cheese burger with tots and a Caesar salad add mahi mahi. Cheeseburger was good (slightly over cooked) and tots were crispy and fried to perfection. Caesar salad was delicious and the portion on mahi mahi on top(slightly over cooked) was 100% worth the extra $2. Definitely would recommend the meal for the price. Happy hour is great. There is definitely a crowd that goes there often so it was a bit intimidating. But over all I would go back. Just wish the protein was cooked a bit better.

I love this little place! The food is good and the bartenders are sweet and friendly. I had a good time tonight for St. Paddy's and I've been here 4 times now. Bathroom is nice and clean, the quesadilla and pimento cheeseburger are both tasty. I'm glad I moved back to Cordova after living downtown for 3 years

Checked out the fish special today and it was pretty good. There was a little too much salt in the fish breading for me but that didn't stop me from finishing the whole filet. The fries were fried nicely and I liked the cole slaw. Came with tartar sauce and lemons. Service was nice and adequate. The bar is a nice watering hole with many regulars. It is a fun place to visit.

This place is a cool neighborhood bar. Several TVs so good for watching games... or poker as I was watching tonight. Cold beer, super friendly service, crowd / patrons of my peers ... and a very legit food menu. I had a pepperoni pizza and it was very good... very thin tavern style cut in squares. ( see pic) I'm told they also have live music on certain nights. This place is close by the house and I'll def be back ... many times

Mom loved the lunch special!

This place is my Cheers! Always friendly staff at this fun neighborhood bar with great lunch specials, nightly entertainment is my go to. Sporting events on numerous televisions surrounding you, there's something for everyone! PS the egg rolls are awesome!

Tavern Melt + Onion Loops

This restaurant is tucked away where I imagined that they wouldn't get much traffic. However, today at lunch, it was quite busy and seemingly full of regulars. I met my friend for lunch there and was not immediately acknowledged. But, the server and runners were friendly once we were settled in. I ordered the tavern melt and she ordered a Reuben and we both ordered onion rings. The food was great, it just took a little while since it was lunchtime. Otherwise, it appears that they have a full bar and this can be a great place to meet with friends.

Menu

This is a wonferful hidden gim, I found it just searching for something new. Nice crowd. Menu is awesome.

Had lunch at the Tavern today. The blackened Mahi Mahi basket was delicious. Not overly large portions but filling. The service was good, also.

Chip rocks it!!!

The restaurant has a really neat vibe and is decorated better than most of the restaurants in the memphis area. We came at 5:00 on a Saturday night and we were seated immediately without reservations, but when we left, they did have a small wait to get a table. We started with the pimento cheese toastie which was garlic bread with melty pimento cheese on top. We both really enjoyed it. I decided on the filet with peppercorn sauce. I asked for it it to be butterflied. My steak was cooked to perfection with the perfect amount of pink and it sliced like butter. I got the peppercorn sauce on the side and used it for a dipping sauce. I really liked the sauce, but it is really peppery. While I loved it, some might find it a little spicy. My husband had the bourbon glazed porterhouse pork chop. His was cooked perfectly fly as well and was super tender. He really enjoyed it, but mentioned that the sauce did have something in it that gave it a little spice. We shared an order of rosemary duck fat fries as the entrees come à la cart with no sides. The fries re heavy on rosemary which my husband didn't care for. I enjoyed them, but they were definitely not my favorite. Neither of us cared for the mayo sauce that they came with and preferred to eat them with ketchup. Overall it was a great experience and we will definitely be back!

Unfortunately, the food has been consistently underwhelming during my recent visits. I first ordered the lamb chops. They were not what I would consider traditional lamb chops and were surprisingly chewy and difficult to enjoy. I returned and decided to try the Irish Curry Chicken. It was, without exaggeration, one of the worst dishes I've had there. The menu described it as chicken thigh, but it was clearly chicken breast. The dish lacked basic seasoning and flavor. There was very little salt, umami, or curry flavor. The rice was wet, overcooked, and mushy. Overall, the entire meal tasted like something taken from a grocery store freezer section and reheated. At this point, I would recommend sticking to the fries and the burgers, which remain the strongest items on the menu.

The main level holds a bar and banquette seating along the opposite wall. Restrooms are at the back. The menu is varied and includes Irish fare such as corned beef & cabbage and bangers & mash. I went with a spinach salad, which is quite nice, lightly dressed with beets & goat cheese. I like spice, but the spicy pecans were a miss for me. The Irish eggrolls are very well prepared. Ungreasy, flavorful, good ratio of fillings to wrapper. The dressing adds to the overall flavors. My dining companion ordered the cornedbeef and cabbage which comes with whipped potato. It looked amazing with a nice portion of cabbage and cornedbeef. I am told it's very good, and if it tastes like the egg rolls, I believe it. Malt vinegar, mustard and hot sauce are on the table along with s&p if you like to add those to your meal. Staff were friendly and attentive. Full bar with beer on tap including Guinness. Football (soccer) was on the TV's. I asked about the upstairs and was offered a look around, which I did. I love the old tiled floors and other preserved, vintage parts of this old building. Good stop!

The bar tender greeted us warmly, and told us we could sit anywhere we liked, so we chose a cozy, comfy corner booth. Hubby loved his Sweet Tea, "just right". When we finished that, we poured the Asian dressing over the plentiful Arugula salad. We shared a Trio of tender, juicy Certified Angus sliders. Wow! I believe the place was empty when we took a seat at the bar but another party of 2 followed shortly behind and sat a little bit further down the bar. I tried something that sounded better than it tasted but ultimately this is a matter of personal preference and I have a high maintenance palate. The people next to us got wings, which looked good until they were dangerously close to a leak that had sprung from one of the exposed pipes above. They had to move to a table behind us and then some of the staff got a bucket to place on the bar to catch the dripping water but that made a very loud noise so then they put a towel inside of the bucket. I will admit that I have never experienced such a thing before. It looked like the pipe that was dripping had tape wrapped over that area so they had tried a "bandaid" fix in the past but it didn't work. Obviously, this does negatively impact the "ambiance" portion of the overall experience and getting the impression that this is an issue that could have been fully addressed previously but the decision was made not to. It wouldn't stop me from going back but it certainly isn't ideal.

I asked for medium but you couldn't see any red to it like you should for medium. Pretzel bread didn't have a taste to it and I expected it to taste different. I've had better burgers at fast food places. I was able to eat the tater tots while waiting for the burger. They were not good. They were either overly salted or oil they were being fried in needed to be replaced. They were crunchy all throughout instead of just the outer crust. Maybe the oil was the wrong temp or they were just overcooked.
