I am soooo glad that I hired Mokoi Masonry for several jobs at two homes in the same neighborhood:…read more1) 2-tier retaining rock wall, 2) underground 2-pipe drainage system around 3 sides of a house, 3) vinyl fence and lockable gates, 4) small jobs of patching a hole in a concrete wall and leveling an uneven sidewalk area. Here are my praises about hiring Mokoi at every step of the process: --Estimate and Proposal: Owner Viliami Mokoi came to inspect the work to be done, offered his recommendations from his years of experience, and put the specific descriptions of the work to be done in a written proposal (total of 4 proposals), including details I wanted to add, such as locks on the vinyl gates and installing a mailbox in the wall. I tried to obtain estimates from other contractors, but no one else was willing to do all the work such as removing roots and foliage and running underground pipes on all three sides of the house for the drainage system. --Superb Workmanship: I am still admiring the 2-tiered rock walls that are beautiful and solid (see photo). To install the underground drainage system, the crew had to use heavy equipment to excavate the jungle surrounding the house and haul in gravel to cover the pipes. The area is now clear and spacious with a hidden drainage system ready for heavy rain from hurricane and Kona low storms. Manoa rain and worker shortages caused delays in work, but the crew made up time by working hard and fast when they could. During the whole time, Vili texted to me about the progress of the work and promptly answered my questions. I am very pleased with the final products of the built walls and installed drainage system as well the patched concrete wall and leveled sidewalk. --Five Star Clean-Up: The crew hauled out all the piles of debris from the jobs and even swept up. Very much appreciated! Mahalo nui loa, Vili and your crew, for your great work product, great work ethic and great communication! I highly recommend Mokoi Masonry!

She was great with communicating and was a big reason we ended up going with Menora over other contractors. The project included excavation, building a CMU wall, extending a driveway, and building a patio. I really appreciate your efforts and dedication to finishing my family yard. Suli's team were able to complete this large project all before we had family visit during the holidays. It's truly a blessing to know and work with this small family business, especially Maka and his team, they did such an amazing job! You can tell he takes pride in his work. I look forward to working with him in the near future and can't wait to show his talents to friends and family. Thank you so much!

Time: How long does it take to find and interview a…read moredependable masonry contractor? After a two-week search, I selected Menora Masonry from four bids for my December 2024 retaining wall and drainage project. Suli, the owner, ran the mini excavator and ensured efficient teamwork during excavator operations Sione was pure strength. He did a lot of the excavating and put up new posts and gates. A lot was accomplished because he had a good work ethic and was trustworthy in every way. Younger Sione, Suli's nephew, executed precise bricklaying while others managed cement mixing. He rebuilt the failing wall sections and also a leaning column with great precision. Task on December 11, 2024: To replace the weak sections of my retaining wall that held the terraced front area of my property. Then run 80 feet of perforated PVC pipe underground along it to relieve the pressure of excess water into an adjoining swale easement. In addition, water in my back garden area, weathered by mauka wind and rain, would pool and seep beneath the slab of my house. Menora jackhammered part of the old walkway and created slope for the water to empty into the same swale easement and away from the foundation. They also built a raised cement barrier along the house. Communication: An area of improvement could have been reviewing our understanding of the planned work in intervals. While communication could improve with mid-project checkpoints (especially during garden water mitigation), post-work cleanup with Suli's son, Suli Jr., revealed excellent attention to detail. The January 2025 storm validated their work - both wall stability and drainage performed flawlessly under heavy wind and rain. I had complete peace of mind for my neighbors below that the wall would hold and not cause damage; and that the garden-side rain would not pool towards the house. I truly appreciate the hard work and effort on the part of Menora Masonry and highly recommend them!

I narrowed it down to 2 companies and when I met with Sione's dad William, I was so impressed by his style and level of expertise in inspecting my wall. He started the business over 40 years ago and had prior rockwall experience in Inglewood California before moving to beautiful Hawaii. William was very sincere and patient in explaining to me the condition of my wall and what needed to be done. He reminded me of my dad who also started his business over 40 years ago in residential construction. Later, I met with owner Sione who I originally spoke with over the phone when scheduling the first consultation. Sione is well-spoken, and as busy as he is -- I appreciate him staying in communication via text or answering my call since other rockwall companies fell short. Sione grew up with many years in the rockwall business and learned from his family. Sione was also willing to work with my budget and I understood the high quality of work I'd receive from All Phase. Quality matters and this wall will outlive me for another 40 plus years!!! This is a family run business and they only hire within their family. I met Sione's brothers Q and Jr, along with Kaffa, Masi and so many awesome uncles and masons! I also received the proposal via email from sister Fine. Thanks so much for your work! I could see that they all work with a lot of Heart, Soul and Pride! They arrived on time, some days early! They are very respectful, helpful, and organized throughout the entire job! They also clean up after themselves. I was so impressed at how fast they completed the work and were ahead of schedule! Towards the end, Q, Van and Bugsy did final clean up and haul away of rubbish. I appreciate their level of workmanship and it really shows in the end result. EVERYONE LOVES MY ROCKWALL and it has visibility from the main road. I was able to carve "All Phase Masonry JULY 2026" during the recapping too! Look forward to Future work with All Phase! "If your wall gonna fall - give us a call!" Sione, the owner, was very responsive from the start--he replied quickly to our Yelp inquiry and made scheduling a meet-and-greet and wall assessment easy. He was professional, easy to work with, and took the time to explain the condition of the wall. He also recommended a couple of repair options and clearly walked us through each, which made the decision process much easier. We received a quote in a timely manner, and the project actually began ahead of schedule. Even better, the entire job was completed in just three days. The new wall looks beautiful, and several neighbors have already complimented the work. We are extremely happy with the results and glad we chose All Phase Masonry. I would highly recommend them to anyone on O'ahu looking for quality masonry work and excellent service.

Overall, I'm very happy with how the project turned out. The installation itself went well, and the crew did a good job keeping the work areas organized and putting the yard back together after the trenching. The real test came after a heavy storm, when I noticed some pooling and settling along portions of the restored trenches. I contacted Ea, the project manager, and he took the concerns seriously. He arranged for a crew to come back out, and they ended up addressing both sides of the house. They lifted and regraded the affected sod, added material underneath to help with settling, cleaned out the drain lines, and thoroughly flushed and tested both downspouts and emitters to make sure everything was flowing correctly. Ea also followed up with photos and videos documenting the work, which I appreciated. What impressed me most was that they didn't argue about the concerns or disappear once the original job was completed. They came back, corrected the issues, tested the system, and made sure I was satisfied with the result. The drainage system is functioning properly now and the yard looks much better. Based on both the quality of the work and the way Aloha ʻĀina handled the follow-up, I would definitely recommend them.

Stu was incredibly generous with his time, knowledge, and care. He didn't just sell us plants -- he educated us. He walked us through exactly how to help them thrive in their new environment, from soil considerations to watering patterns to sunlight needs. You can immediately tell he genuinely cares about both the plants and the people taking them home. As someone who values stewardship of the land, I deeply appreciated how intentional and thoughtful he was in explaining how to properly care for the plants so they can flourish. And he even let my son and another family purchasing plants there pet his baby sheep. His team was equally impressive. Every team member who assisted us was kind, patient, and eager to help. They carefully loaded the plants into our vehicle and made sure everything was secure. It felt less like a transaction and more like being welcomed into a community of people who truly love what they do. If you're looking for expertise, integrity, and genuine aloha in the landscaping and nursery space, Aloha ʻĀina Landscaping is the real deal. We're grateful and will absolutely be back.

He lied about the progress of the work and asked for payment without completing the work under the agreement within the timeframe promised. Weeks and months have gone by and the work was still incomplete. Basically, this was a breach of contract and he failed to perform the agreed-upon work as outlined in the contract. For months, he was unresponsive despite multiple attempts to communicate to either finish the work or refund the payments made. After 5 months, he finally responded stating that he'll set up a repayment schedule to return the funds due to the breach of contract. Another 4 months have gone by and he has yet to repay any of the advance payments made. During those 4 months, multiple demands were made for the refund of payments made. He has been unresponsive. To date, 9 months later, he has failed to return the payments made. No effort at all to even set up a repayment schedule. His conduct has been unprofessional, unreliable, and has caused significant financial and personal inconvenience. I trusted him and paid him in advance when he asked for more money stating that he needed more funds to cover the rental equipment and pay his people. Never again with Maka. I plan to file a formal complaint with the appropriate licensing board and the BBB.
