My client's front yard in Ocean Point had a leak in their sprinkler system but didn't know where it was coming from. The yard was flooding but the sprinklers weren't working. I called around and chose to work with Hawaii Sprinkler because Toby was the very professional, polite approachable. It was a Friday afternoon and he said he would be there on Monday after around 2 pm . Like clock work he texted me at 2 pm to say that he was at the location and checking out the problem. It turned out to be 2 busted pipes under the ground. He had it fixed and all good to go within a couple hours. Thanks Toby! Will definitely call on you again! read more

I hired Toby to perform maintenance and upgrade my backyard irrigation system with new spiral sprinkler heads. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend his services based on the quality of the work and the subsequent troubleshooting advice provided. If you are considering hiring him, here are the factual issues I have experienced since the installation: Defective Zones: Immediately following his maintenance visit, the sprinklers in Zone #2 stopped popping up entirely. As my videos and photos show, the heads just sit at ground level and sputter water directly into the dirt and rocks, forcing me to manually water the area. Inconsistent Coverage: The new spiral heads fail to provide even water distribution. Despite regular watering schedules, the yard now has several clearly visible brown, under-watered spots right next to perfectly green, healthy grass. Poor Professional Advice: When I reached out regarding the dry spots, Toby's recommendation was to drastically increase the watering time to 24-30 minutes per zone. read more

Toby showed up to my appointment date just before I had to leave to go back to work. I waited the entire 2 hour window during my lunch break so I only had a few minutes to speak to him about the work I wanted to have done. My job included fixing an existing sprinkler system and installing a new line for a small portion of the side yard. My husband got home less than hour after I left with Toby and his worker getting ready to leave my house. My husband paid the bill which was $300 for less than an hours work. Toby had replaced some of the broken sprinkler heads but had not installed the new line. My husband didn't know that this was supposed to be part of the visit. I called Toby when I got home and asked why he didn't install the new line. He said he thought I wanted that part done in the future. Ok but why would I have shown him the job and spoken to him about it? Anyway, Toby said he would come back a week later in the afternoon to complete the job. He didn't show and to this day (a week later) has not answered my phone calls or text inquiries. So 3 stars for the work he did do but 2 stars off for poor customer communication and not finish read more

I had a leak in my irrigation. Needed to have fixed, replaced and capped. Using quality parts. Messaged several companies. Only 2 responded. And 1 of the 2 was charging an arm and a leg. The other, Toby from Hawaii Sprinkler. Toby came out earlier then the promised time. Which for me was a plus. He encountered no problems. And was done in record time. Definitely will use him again. Our lawn sprinkler system 5 valve PVC piped manifold has leaked several times in the past few years, and sprung another leak on the street pressure side of the valves early this month. Prior repairs were done using PVC pipe and components. We did not want to face future pressure PVC pipe and/or joint failures/leakage, so Toby remade the valve pipe manifold using copper pipe and fittings. Very professional work, done as if it was his own home...took extra care and time to complete the work so that the finished product performed well and also looked great. Explained how the work was being done and why. Materials and equipment installed are high quality, professional grade. The proposal estimate and service was timely, added extra equipment (replaced the 5 valves) since that was appropriate for our installation. Charges were most reasonable. Service was outstanding, quality was top-notch, and we received overall great value for work done for our repair/replacement. read more

Highly recommend Toby for your sprinkler needs! He was available on a Sunday when everyone else I called wasn't. Picked up the phone promptly and I was able to schedule something right away. He came and helped assess our sprinkler concerns. Toby helped replace multiple sprinkler heads, answered our questions, and also pointed out some issues that we weren't even aware of. He offered to replace our very old sprinkler control box, but wasn't pushy at all when we declined. Overall, I'll definitely be calling him again for any further sprinkler issues! read more

Hawaii Sprinkler and Lighting did a great job repairing another company's faulty work. I called them on Saturday to schedule for Sunday emergency repair work. They called me as scheduled to advise of their ETA and showed up as scheduled. They only took 30min and gave me a great price considering it was a Sunday repair. They waited for the line to cure and did a pressure test to make sure everything was done right. 5 star service all the way. A happy customer read more

I called Hawaii Sprinkler and Lighting on the recommendation of my landscaping service to repair a persistent leak. Due to staffing difficulties, my landscaper was unable to do the work himself. With a call placed on Monday, Toby was there on Thursday; I had said it was NOT an emergency. He arrived on time, having also called when he was about 30 minutes away. He quickly identified the location of the underground leak, and identified two different contributors to it. Within about 90 minutes both causes had been expertly repaired. Toby was responsive, professional friendly and the service fee was quite reasonable. I strongly recommend his firm. As an added note, the owner of my landscaping service told me that Hawaii Sprinkler and Lighting is the only leak repair expert that he trusts when he himself is unable to do the work. read more

I did a Yelp project and got a few responses but reviews matter. Communication was quick with a few details on our sprinkler issue, Toby then scheduled me a service, when he arrived he assessed what I needed and got to work. It was a fairly simple two valve replacement along with assessing sprinkler heads and mounting the control box. I don't have before photos but the controller was hanging by one screw and none of the wire conduit was secured. He fixed it and replaced my valves, then did a pressure test for leaks. A+ craftsmanship and professionalism with great communication. read more

Requested an appointment at 9 a.m. Monday. Owner contacted me via text message on Monday at 8:25 so I wrote back that I'd be home, upstairs. Owner disregards my confirmed availability, and does not arrive until 9:40 a.m. Then he gives me attitude and threatens to black ball me with other providers. I knew we would not work well and fired him. Not service oriented; not friendly; combative; and more. UPDATE: Owner is unreliable, angry and did not keep his appointment even after I confirmed that I was home 12 minutes after he texted on the morning of our appointment. I rearranged my Monday schedule relying on him to show up on time. If I could rate him no stars I would have. read more

I had a leaking in-ground valve system that I wanted replaced with an above ground anti-siphon valve system. Besides Hawaii Sprinkler and Lighting I called a couple other companies for which they all were fairly in the same price range, however I settled with Toby at Hawaii Sprinkler and Lighting because he was very communicative and responded to all my questions quickly. A service appointment was scheduled within a couple days, he came out to perform the work, he discovered my irrigation system's gate valve was broken and fixed it. He also came back that weekend at no cost to readjust/fix an issue I messaged him about and everything is working great. I recommend his services and I will utilize Toby for any future projects or repairs. read more

Contacted them several times to fix a bad leaking issue. When I finally got something scheduled, I kept getting jerked around and cancelled on with obviously fake or BS stories. On the fourth reschedule/cancellation with an obviously fake excuse, I stopped trying. Update: I am absolutely sure I am replying and reviewing the right company. I checked my texts and recall my phone calls with the owner of this company as well. I am very careful about how I criticize business as I come from a small business family myself. All I can ask the business do better. Reply or show up when you say you will. Don't reschedule several times and expect customers to be happy when they have to take off time from work and have it disrespected. read more

Very smart and knows all the areas of what is needed! Toby likes to help others in need and deserves to be recognized as a professional!

Toby explained in detail that a few of our sprinkler heads were not functioning properly and some were broken due to roots from a tree growing into our yard. Toby was able to come in on short notice and charged a fair rate in comparison to other companies we had received estimates on. Hawaii Sprinkler and Lighting installed beautiful lights - pathway lights, spotlights for trees, and wall wash lights - in my backyard several years ago, and recently came by to help with some quick repairs after my crazy dogs knocked a couple over and disconnected some of the wiring. I am so impressed with Toby and his hardworking crew that fixed up my messed up irrigation system. We have a very large (for HI) garden that makes us so happy and we have little need to purchase any fruits or vegetables. We just asked our gardener to clean out an area in our yard. I knew about the water line and tagged it with 'CAUTION' tape, but did not know that the control wire cable to our sprinkler valves was just hanging exposed (there were two PVC conduits immediately adjacent where I assumed the control wire cable was). Well, bad assumption.... The wire was cut by a weed whacker. Everything in our garden was drying out including several newly planted fig and jabong trees (not cheap!). So, I desperately was calling out to all sprinkler repair companies in HI (replacing this cable on my own would be a big challenge as portions were direct buried in concrete and stone walls). This company was highly rated on Yelp (which I use as my primary contractor search tool) and gave them a call. All the other folks said they were too busy to come by for a week or so, but when I spoke to Toby and described my dire situation, he said his crew would be there the next day (HOORAY!). The crew spent 2 1/2 hours making everything right including new control cable in PVC tubing (as it should be), addition of two new watering stations in our new beet and daikon root garden, and replacement of burned out landscape lights (you cannot find these replacement bulbs at your big box home depot stores). Bravo! Super Happy with this company!! read more

We had numerous issues with our irrigation system and it was beyond my scope of changing out sprinkler heads. I called Toby Wednesday afternoon and he came out first thing Thursday morning. He immediately diagnosed the issue(s) and after discussing the process he had all the parts with him and could repair in a few hours. Toby was able to replace/repair all of our issues for a really fair cost and gave us a tutorial on the rainbird system and to even read the BWS water meter to make sure we don't have leaks. I will recommend him to everyone I meet and appreciate his professionalism, expertise and prompt servicing. read more
