I stopped on a Saturday night they had live music but I went inside. The server I had was very pleasant, the hotel I stayed in recommended a tater dish. I looked at it on the menu but looked like.a lot of food so I decided and got the Ozark burger it had barbecue pork on it. Ate dinner at the Tater Patch this weekend. Food was good and portions were very large. Unfortunately, there were some very visible staffing issues. Service was lacking and the kitchen was lagging. Don't come here if you want a quick bite, but if you have the time to burn, it's a perfectly fine restaurant. Order cheese curds! My experience is below: No host at the front and waited 10 minutes for a host to show up. After being seated, we waited for 40 minutes before finally flagging down a waiter so we could even get water; no one had stopped by at all. This wouldn't have been so bad if the restaurant staff hadn't made an active effort to avoid eye contact with our table. However, once we flagged a waiter, service was a little sparse but otherwise fine. We suspect the "host" had never let anyone know we needed to be served, and by how blatantly the waiters were ignoring our table, that would make sense. Food took a little long to come out but, but was pretty good. Portions were large. My only complaint is that the meat on my Ozark Burger needed additional seasoning, but this didn't really bother me. We ordered cheese curds, and they were fantastic! I've been to Wisconsin, and the cheese curds here were easily the best I've ever had. read more

UPDATE (visited 03OCT2018): Another great stop at the Tater Patch! Sydney took terrific care of us even though the restaurant was super busy (inside and out!). I enjoyed not one but two 22oz Taterades, a beer made specially for Rob & Kricket's. The Smokin' Hubster went with his favorite Shrimp Basket (I let him, this was a stressful school visit) and I had the chicken quesadilla. This meal was about relaxing and enjoying the crowd, which certainly happened. Thank you Sydney and the Tater Patch for another great night! My husband and I stayed nearby and eventually became curious about the Tater Patch. After checking the Yelp! reviews, we decided to give in and check it out. The bummer is that we didn't try this place sooner! We sat at the bar and Bessie took great care of us. The Yelp! check-in coupon was a nice incentive, as well. :^) My husband ordered the shrimp basket while I had the BBQ pork sandwich with sweet potato fries. I'm not sure who had the better dinner. We likely both won, since we left fat and happy. We agreed that, had we come here first, we likely would not have eaten anywhere else in Rolla! read more

Stopped here for dinner while traveling home from Arkansas. We didn't have to wait for a table and service was prompt. I ordered catfish with salad and tater tots; DH ordered fried shrimp with baked potato. Everything was reasonably priced and tasty. We would go back. read more

Well.. the atmosphere was decent. The food very good. Hmm you ask why I gave it only 3 stars when it probably deserved more.. Good question, the "special shot" the Rowdy Kricket (a Fireball shot with ...you guessed it a cricket) - so that's not a big deal (although the dried up floating little cricket looked more like a small gray roach) that wasn't the problem (nice little gimmick). The shot... was $6.00. but it comes with a shi++y little keeper shotglass - so that makes it all worth it (eye roll). read more

Stopped here on our Route 66 trip for lunch. First thing we noticed upon entering was that the staff were not wearing masks. I thought about turning around and trying a different restaurant/city down the road but 1)I don't know what the current laws in MO are and 2)the kids were so hungry so we needed to get some food. After ordering it took 45 minutes to get our food (wings, a burger, tots and a kids meal). I understand if they are busy but there was a table that ordered after us and ordered wings and got their food 15 minutes before us. It was just slow and bizarre. Fun atmosphere- we visited on a karaoke night. Heavy on fried food, but done well. Wait staff was attentive.

Was hard to settle on dinner choices! Tenderloins were fabulous. Bourbon hamburger was good. The side of loaded potato was dry and slightly burnt. The baked beans were some of the best ever. Would return for just the funnel cake fries with rum sauce. read more

The food was mediocre at best and all seemed like frozen food. We had the pork tenderloin sandwich and the pulled pork nachos. Given that i normally likes my steak medium rare, it was well season cardboard. No thanks. The server just said sorry and offer to remake it... but it would be another 45min wait. We stopped for what we thought looked like a decent place for a meal. We went in the door and right away the waitress behind the bar told us to sit wherever we wanted to. We chose a table, sat down and waited. Another waitress walked by a few times, but never acknowledged us. After about 5 minutes, a guy came to the table, gave us menus, and said our waitress will be right with us. We looked at the menu and then we waited. After about 10 more minutes, another group of people came in and sat down at the table next to us. They were there less than a minute and the same guy who gave us our menus brought them menus and proceeded to take drink orders for them. My wife asked him who our waitress was, and one of the people at the table said " they were here first". He then looked at us and then asked "they were here first?". This is the same guy who brought us our menus 10 minutes earlier. He then continued to take their drink orders and never did answer the question about who our waitress was. Needless to say, we walked out without ordering. No apology, acknowledgment, or effort to try and make it right. The food looked promising, but the service was nonexistent. read more

Missed turn off traffic circle, doubled back 10 miles to have lunch. ----Action: Attractive young server walks over, gives a big smile and then says; " I'll make pleasant small talk, take your order with a flair of efficiency. I will then disappear (you will see me running about to my other tables but I will not make eye contact). After about 30 minutes I will come refill your drink and tell you, your two simple sandwich and fries orders are coming out soon. You will see people who came after you get their meals and enjoy them. You will sit here hungry and increasingly irritated, after nearly an hour you will leave $2 on the table and walk out and never come back." Wasn't too dive-y at 1pm! The dining area is off to the side from the bar area and it didn't feel extra bar-like. But it is a definite casual/home cookin' kind of place, however I think they call it Tater Patch to give you advance notice what to expect! ;) (Plus they have half a dozen versions of smothered baked potatoes.) We tried the app combo, the pork tenderloin, and ribeye sandwich and my bf got a coke which I sipped once and almost ordered my own it was so nice! The app combo was intended to try several apps me bring the rest home and that worked well. We didn't enjoy the onion rings and found them a bit too thin and greasy. We prefer heartier onion rings though. I loved the chicken strips (reminded me of Popeyes kicking strips minus the spice) but my bf thought they were a little dry. I sauce my strips up so I didn't notice. Mozzarella sticks were about like average but maybe better cause they didn't have the weird bitter chem taste that some mozza sticks do. Broccoli cheese bites were our favorite thing. Not TOO oily considering they're fried n filled with cheese sauce. They had a nice broccoli flavor too. My pork tenderloin was huge but I was kind of disappointed. I wasn't expecting the thin batter or how thickly the pork was cut. Even though I cut the meat to fit the bun and set the rest aside it was still a little tough to bite through and didn't have much flavor. I don't think I would try it again but I might just to see if it was an off day for the loin. I forgot to sample the ribeye sandwich but it was a thin sliced ribeye on a long bun. He says it was nicely seasoned and great! Service was pleasant but a bit slow so I'd let them know if you're in a rush or anything. There were about 10 other things I was interested in trying from their menu so we will definitely be back and I do recommend trying them out! read more

We are from Indiana so we had no clue what they were like, we're just some potato crazy people and this was right up our alley. We thought it'd be a small baked potato with some yummy toppings. Listen.... These were monster sized potatoes!!! We got a potato with a burger, nachos, thinking we'd be set. The burger was delicious. Made perfect and the bun was a sweet. But I could only take 1 bite of it. The potato was Soo damn delicious I could only eat it. I got the country fried baked potato. Sooooo damn good!!!!! My daughter got a broccoli and cheese, my hubby got the spicy chicken. We're still going to take home leftovers. If you love amazing food, with large portions and a good price. Watch Out For This One! The only reason this is a 3 is because I did get my food timely...other than that, never again. We had another place on our radar but it was closed on Monday, so we saw this listed highly on Yelp. First we ordered these Tater Kegs (fried mashed potatoes in the shape of little kegs). The menu says there's bacon, which there was, but it says bathed in queso cheese. Drizzled is more of what we got, barely enough to taste. So, then I ordered a burger. I got the Sunrise burger, a 1/2 burger, with American cheese, slices of bacon, ham, and a fried egg. I also ordered a baked potato with butter and cheese. When they didn't ask how I wanted my burger done, that was my first clue this was going wrong. The burger was way overcooked and tough. Honestly, I couldn't finish it. And the baked potato had no cheese but plenty of butter that couldn't melt because the potato was so cold. My son even was told they didn't have the pork tenderloin which is supposed to be their signature dish. I'm one to give someone the benefit of a doubt, but their high rating matched with the quality we got didn't look legitimate by any means. read more

Omg tasteless! My husband had a bacon cheeseburger and i had the cordon bleu potato. Both were tasteles!! My potato had glops of bleu cheese..I scraped it off but the potato itself had no flavor. My spouse had a burger and tater tot's, my friend had a fish sandwich and french fries and a side order of cheese curds, and I had a grilled chicken salad with raspberry vinaigrette dressing. We also had an appetizer onion rings. The burger had a nice flavor however the tater tots were subpar. My friend loved her fish sandwich and I loved her french fries. My salad was OK and that was pretty much the only "healthy thing" on the menu. The service was very friendly. They were struggling because they were short a cook which is why I can't get this four stars.
