So I was to tired to thirsty and way to hungry to waste a moment to take a picture but here goes. Now, if you've ever found yourself wandering through Waynesville with a hollow leg and a thirst that'd make a camel quit, you could do a whole lot worse than pulling up a chair at Hopper's Pub. It's the kind of joint where the atmosphere is thicker than a Sunday morning fog and the hospitality is warmer than a radiator in July. Since we're right there in the shadow of the fort, you'll find yourself rubbing elbows with all sorts of folks. They say you ought to eat where the locals eat, but in a military town, "local" is a relative term--most everybody there is from somewhere else, and they're all just passing through on Uncle Sam's dime. But at Hopper's, for an hour or two, everybody's treated like they grew up right down the street. If f you're looking for a cold beer, Hopper's has their own house brew on tap that's colder than a mother-in-law's stare. It's a sports bar in the truest sense--wall-to-wall TV screens making sure you don't miss a single down or a checkered flag. When there's a car show in town or a big game on, the place gets livelier than a porch dog with a new bone. Speaking of dogs there is a semi-permanent guest that stops by name of Norman. Pet him and you will have a friend for life. They aren't feeding birds here, friend. We're talking Burgers and fries of with tons of flavor. Sliders, cheesesteaks and wings, make sure you got extra napkins. I am not sure why but I think he also have vegetarian options. The staff is politer than a deacon on Sunday. They're attentive, friendly, and they treat travelers like they've lived in Waynesville their whole lives. Keep in mind they are pumping out a ton of adult beverages and food. A cold beer and a good burger are worth a five minute wait. Whether you're just passing through or you're a "local" who's only been in town since your last PCS, Hopper's is a solid bet for a good time and a full belly. It's family-friendly, high-energy, and highly recommended. And if you happen to be there when they break out the Bingo, hold onto your hat. They've got a unique set of calls and responses that'll frighten and amaze you the first time you hear 'em--it's somewhere between a drill sergeant's cadence and a tent revival, and it's worth the price of admission just to witness the spectacle. read more

Really fun place. Just walked in and they are playing free Bingo and handing out raffles. Won some free cookies in the raffle. Ordered something different. The buffalo Mac and cheese and a pretzel w/ cheese sauce. Honestly the food was not the best, but the atmosphere was great and fun. If I can back here, I'd spend a Monday evening here again and try something else. I appreciated the novelty of the restaurant and fun crowd. read more

Cool vibe, great DIVE bar. Don't come here for good service or food. We came later in the evening on a weekday. There were several people enjoying themselves in the restaurant. It was lively but not full. It looks like a total towny joint. We were actually getting great vibes upon entering. Laughter, joyful people, Seemed like a pretty cool spot! We were a party of 6. Traveling to help a relative who was getting stationed at FLW move. We were really tired from a multi state drive. Hoppers seemed like the perfect place to decompress and celebrate our arrival. We stood at the door for a little while. It looked like self seating so I came up to the bar to ask about seating for our party. There were a ton of empty tables for parties of 4 scattered around the restaurant. I stood at the mostly empty bar for 5 Mins and there were only 2 people sitting there. I was ignored. I even waved and said excuse me. My party was looking mighty awkward waiting at the door. Tired of waiting, We sat at the only table big enough for our party. The table wasn't bussed or wiped. The tap and cash tip still there. When the server came (15 mins later, not including the time we waited at the door or the time I was hoping for help at the bar), she grabbed the tab and tip, but didn't even wipe the table down and left the cups from the last party who ate there. An extreme W-T-F moment for all of us. We waited 10 more mins. Another server came by and took our order. We ordered simple bar food. Beer, Burgers, fries and wings. Fries were nearly raw and mushy. Wings were undercooked, tasted braised and over sauced. Server completely forgot my friend's order. Instead of making it right, she comes back and said that the kitchen was already closed. Well DUH, it took you all 30 mins just to take our order. Really disappointed especially since we were really hungry and tired and wanted to enjoy dinner. Another local party that sat next to us and saw our whole experience, left when we left looked over at us and said, we are so sorry for how they treated you guys. This place has gone down hill, especially since the owners opened a second location. I ended up sharing my gross dinner with my friend and even she couldn't eat it due to its grossness. Apparently MREs are tastier cause you expect it. We left and got McDonald's because the food was truly prepared like they were done for the day or hated their jobs. read more

Great spot to stop for a TAP beer, wow they have a huge selection of tappers to choose from. We didn't eat but all the food coming out of the kitchen looked amazing! Food was ok......even though it took 1 hour and 13 minutes to finally get a burger and fries. I never got to speak with the manager. I received a sub par apology from the overworked server, who I understand was busy but was more concerned with that than attempting to rectify my issue. I never got a refill on my drink (I only received 1). Then to top it off, the server (Gracie B) made it a point to ensure me that I will be required to pay full price. Terrible customer service. I'm visiting Fort Leonard Wood for the week and have stopped in here twice to eat. When you walk in, you seat yourself and wait for a server to bring you the menu. They have a VERY large section of beers to chose from (if you're here for a longer period of time, you can try all 60 to get your name put on the wall, which is a quirky touch.) The first time we ate here was on a Saturday around lunch time and they were a bit slow to see us/get us menus, but after that the service was great. We started with the Philly Cheese Fries which were AMAZING, couldn't recommend more for anyone checking this place out. We both chose the Baconator Burger as our main meals and I'd give it a solid 7/10. Good standard burger but there wasn't anything spectacular about it. Second time we came was on a Monday night and we were surprised by Bingo night! No cover fee and you can win free drinks/food if you hit a bingo. We were served super quickly this night and I got the chicken wrap, which I would rate a 6/10 as it's huge but lacks flavor. I was at Ft Leonard wood for 3 months and several of us went to Hopper's at least once a week. We were told this place was the spot to drink, sing and play Bingo! I have ordered the Cheese curds every time and every time they are amazing. I never had them before until hoppers. My husband who doesn't even eat cheese and he loves them!! I usually get the Buffalo chicken wrap and it's full of chicken and fresh veggies. I love it! I also ordered a few of the burgers and they are always juicy. i was told for days, this place was pretty good. i was mostly lied to, and thats ok. the beer selection was pretty bad, which was why we came, i was told they had a lot of beers on tap, which was wrong, they had all of the average boring American beers on tap, and a few others. i'd go to the Piney River Brewery next door if you want some good beer. the food was not good, probably the worst wings i have ever had in my life and not cheap, 8 wings for 10 bucks is laughable, in KC you can get a dozen for 12. and not those skinny scrawning things at Hoppers, but actual edible wings with meat on them. Our server disappeared quite often, it seemed like a slow night yet she never seemed to be around. oh well. won't be coming back here, that's for sure. read more

I can't believe it took me 3 years to try food off their menu. But better late than never! Don't waste time and go ahead and order you some spicy wings (I had their spicy garlic sauce and not a huge fan- but their spicy sauce is AMAZING) and bourbon burger. My goodness- their burgers are bomb. And I make some amazing homemade burgers so when I tried their burgers I was mind blown. Since trying food around Missouri I've learned to keep my expectations and standards low. But Hoppers Pub is a hidden gem for food. Sorry, I am. Really really was looking forward to trying this place. Relaxed pub atmosphere. Despite there only being one other occupied table in the place, the drinks took a very long time and were crazy weak (basic drinks vodka cran and Irish whiskey and coke) food was slightly below mediocre. While the consistency of the beer cheese closely resembles that of beer, it tasted like neither beer nor cheese. The ranch was...weird. Sad day. read more

Welp, a colleague of mine and I are out here and low and behold find this gem. It was 1 of the only 2 places open, soooo yeah. It's truly a local yocal spot. Nothing wrong with that. The service was lacking to be nice. We sat for about 10 mins without being acknowledged; which is annoying to say the least. Idc how busy you are, acknowledge your guests when they enter your establishment! It is what it is; I'm in missouri for F's sake. I had the buffalo wrap aardvark fries which was tasty. To be honest though every time I have eaten here has been a to go order It's close to a military base so on any given night this place will be over run with military. WOW...!!! An old friend took me to this Pub/Restaurant for Brunch on Sunday. I love the old town pub feel this little establishment has. Passing through town on a mini pilgrimage. Last time I was in Waynesville was 59 years ago when I was born here! Route 66 runs through town with the Frog Rock at the to of the hill as you enter the town. This PUB is on point! Great Service great crowd, plenty draft options and the food is awesome. Well we liked this place...until they decided to mess it up. They were ruder than a rabid raccoon at a baby shower. We're sitting there celebrating an event, and suddenly a server comes over and puts a "reserved" sign on our table. About ten minutes after that, we were politely told "ok you need to leave" by some group of girls who apparently "reserved" the table. Apparently Missouri hospitality is a myth, along with they Yeti and Great Pumpkin (although the girls that stole our tables could have qualified as "great pumpkins"). Hoppers Pub is by far the best place to hang out in the Fort Leonard Wood area. In addition to their full menu, they have fantastic food specials daily. The place is full of TVs for any sporting event of your interest. Whatever your beer flavor my be, chances are you will find it on one of the 66 beers on tap or something comparable. There is no other place is the area where you have some many choices for food and drinks. My favorite thing about this place was that they had plenty of seating and Beer Flights! If they offer live music it was not advertised and the music consider of a guy sitting at one of the tables with an iPod who would announce each time the music shut off that it was because too many people were on their phones hogging the Internet. The only food available when we attended were pretzels. The crowd varied between young Soldiers on pass to mature a bikers, sprinkled with a few locals (unique people in my opinion). I have never had an issue at this place! Staff has always been friendly. Food is some of the best in this area as far as I'm concerned. I love the mushroom Swiss burger with fries. I love coming here to have a nice cold beer. The atmosphere of the restaurant is fun. I am determined to drink all 66 beers and have my name put on the wall. What a great place tucked in the middle of no where!!! This is worth getting off of I-44 and checking out. There are 66 beers on tap and the staff is very friendly to make recommendations. I went with the Frog Drool IPA. The atmosphere is richly stained wood ceilings, brick walls, and brass. The benches at the booths are deep and comfortable. Everything is clean and neat. The burgers come out of the kitchen looking like something you see in the ads - piled high on a nice bun. Everything was cooked to order and hot. The fries could have had a larger portion. They might have had a dash of Old Bay seasoning to them. If they did it was a good choice. The owner, Ursula, came out and made sure everything was right with my meal. It's great to see the ownership at a place! All in all I don't think you'll go wrong stopping in here. read more
