The St. Robert/Fort Leonardwood area has some pretty awesome restaurants. I wish I had a little more time to explore. This place came highly recommended by the locals. The day I visited, the proprietor was in. I was greeted warmly and since it was my first time in, I was given an explanation of the concept and their menu. This same service was provided by the counter worker and the food runners. You place your order at the front counter. The space has a divey feel and a little dark inside. They offer high and low top seating. I took a seat and waited for my meal. Now I realize that this place specializes in fried chicken. It's in the name and everything. But I was in the mood for fried catfish so that's what I got. If they have a handle on the chicken half as good as they do on the fish just be ready for a good meal. The fish is crispy and flaky. I got a bowl of greens and mashed potatoes for my sides. The greens were excellent. Good flavor and I just drizzled a little hot sauce on top. The mashed potatoes are equally delicious but the gravy is fire. Another patron sat down next to me and was kind enough to allow me to photograph his meal. The Nashville hot chicken bowl is his go to meal. Juicy chicken on a bed of macaroni and cheese. He adds double protein.

Farmhouse sandwich, red beans and rice with a drink.

I got a farmhouse sandwich with red beans and rice for lunch. I like that I can choose the tender fried or grilled for the sandwich. Special sauce is a thousand island style, but not as sweet, plenty of sauce, this is not an eat in the car sandwich. I got grilled chicken, on my farmhouse, it was cook perfectly. The fried chicken looked amazing, I was trying to be a little healthier today. I liked the red beans and rice, nothing outrageous, but still good. I did take out, service is very friendly, and speed was acceptable.

Great service and great food. The portions were big and came out fast. And the biscuits are fire, melt in your mouth!

The server was friendly and the service was quick. I didn't really like the taste of the chicken but the biscuit was really good. I liked the vibe of the restaurant and the rubber duckies. The booths were pretty uncomfortable though and there weren't any tables for a big party.

Fried thigh piece. Wonderful crunchy taste no grease dripping out.

OMG! Why did I wait so long to try this place out?? I finally stopped by for lunch to take home. I wasn't sure how to order so I just told the young lady what I wanted and she hooked me up. The fried chicken was on point, not greasy, very tasty and still plenty warm by the time I got home. What made this meal even better where the mashed potatoes and biscuits. The mash had a special distinct flavor. Wife thinks they use yogurt in the blend. The biscuits were huge, beautiful crusty top with honey taste. Definitely going back! Place doesn't look like much from the outside but it's nice inside. Has quirky farmhouse feel that makes it a nice place to eat in.

Fried chicken was juicy and crust was great with good flavor and just right crisp. It was a little on the spicy side, but not too hot. Great customer service.

We were out riding and ran across this hidden gem and let me tell you that this place is absolutely incredible. I had the 3 piece chicken and Peach hand pie omg. Lindsey was working and she was so helpful and friendly.

This might be the best chicken strips I've ever had. And the hen sauce was delicious.

The poutine bowl w/grilled chicken is the absolute best grab-and-go in town! The bottled root beer is an added treat.

Too salty. Not great but there aren't many other options in that town. It's a town with an army base and it only exists because of it

Pro tip: please check their facebook page for updated hours, contact information, and menu of the day. I stopped by to place a carry out order. The team was so welcoming and friendly. That perfect sincere hospitality you don't see too much anymore. The space is absolutely adorable and comfortable. When my order was ready, I was handed a bag that easily weighed five pounds! I went with the blackberry fried chicken. This is like nothing I've ever had. The chicken was super crispy like Korean fried chicken and just covered in a sweet sticky blackberry sauce. The chicken was well seasoned and juicy. Every single bite was perfect. I went with the macaroni and cheese and greens for my sides. Both came served in generous portions of deliciousness. The greens might be a little spicy if you don't like heat. My order came with two cornbread muffins. The meal was a very generous and a filling one. I also picked a slice of peach cobbler cheesecake from the dessert case. While tasty, I would have preferred one or the other. Both cheesecake and cobbler in one dessert was just a little too much for me. But delicious nonetheless. I can see why this spot comes with such great accolades for food service and hospitality.

Not only was the food amazing, but the service was also impeccable. The waitress was so nice, and she gave us history on the restaurant and her family. There were pictures of her family on the walls, and they even had a tree branch with wooden portraits of family members (family tree). It was so cool!! The food was so good!! We had the chicken wings, greens, mac and cheese, yams, and catfish. The portion sizes were huge, so we had food to go. A person in our party had the red beans and rice and fried corn and she said the red beans and rice was some of the best she has ever had, and the sauce on the fried corn was good. The cook's husband came out and talked to us at the end of our meal and gave us some background on how he was also in the military, retired and is now working at the restaurant with his wife along with his government job. Everybody was just so nice and welcoming, and it definitely was a great experience. The prices for the food was very affordable considering the portion sizes. We have to go back in January for her next graduation. We will definitely be going back to eat there. I can taste it already!!

Being born and raised in Los Angeles, I was expecting to never find a place with tacos as good as out west - especially in rural Missouri. I joked as we passed Tacos and Wings on our way into Post and said "I bet that's simple but good." Ironically the clerk at the hotel recommended this exact place. It's a fun kind of vibe. Has old arcade games all around and good country music on the screens. Service is very good. Everyone is super friendly. Now for the food: Flavorful and different. This isn't really a Mexican place. They have crafted creative flavors in the form of tacos. I had the Crispy Chicken Bacon Avocado Taco where every bite had bacon in it. The chicken was nicely flavored and the avocado was fresh sliced and balanced the overall combination of flavors. I also couldn't resist the Bayou Gator Taco. It definitely brought back memories of all of my visits to Gatorland in Orlando. It not only had crunchy gator bites in it but also had shrimp and I was very impressed that they had properly deveined the shrimp. A little too much mayo for me, but overall good. The chips were seasoned with a little kick of maybe cayenne pepper and I loved the salsa bar. Definitely try the pineapple salsa. It was spicy like a salsa verde with just a touch of sweetness from the pineapple. I also liked the tomatillo salsa. The strawberry chipotle wings were recommended. Definitely a unique flavor. I'm a hot and spicy girl so I think I would have liked them a little better if they would have had a little more kick of heat. Excellent value. Couldn't believe how much food we got (4 tacos, 10 wings, queso, chips, and 2 drinks) for $40 including tip! Keep it simple and affordable and go to Tacos and Wings.
