This is right on the water in a beautiful area. There's lots of parking, near walking paths and a boating shell. Lovely October weather when we arrived. The waiter brought us water pitchers with a glass full of lemon & lime wedges which was a nice touch. First thing I ordered was the BACON WRAPPED SCALLOPS over quinoa with cranberry that was perfectly cooked & delicious. I will be dreaming of those 3 scallops for a long time. I was eating lite so I also ordered some CLAM CHOWDER soup was also quite good ... nice and chunky with good flavor. My companions had salad, poke bowl, and a cheesecake sandwich with salmon that I heard was delicious. My only complaint was that I was seated so I couldn't see the water but my companions could.

Its been a while that we been wanting to try this place and today finally we did. The ambiance is very pleasant, the service was good, Melissa was a little nervous at the beginning but she warmed up to us after a bit. The food was another story, it wasn't that great, we got a few appetizers scallops wrapped in bacon was awesome 5 stars fried calamari crispy 4 stars, crab cakes 4 stars lobster bisque to me 0 stars because it was so SALTY my husband muster the courage and ate it. The main course was room temperature, red wine short ribs pretty pricey for a piece of meat with a small side of fries. Tender but pricey My food was good, hot garlicky and tasty. Overall it was an ok visit, we would come back maybe in the spring. Mayb

Everyone in Middletown knows about the history of flooding at the previous establishments. All of the locals couldn't wait for this location to reopen. After what seemed like forever...this issue was tackled and the restaurant was opened. I hope that what they have done continues to work. I have eaten here 5 or 6 times and attended Happy Hour a few times. The happy hour is decent. There is a special menu and drinks, but unfortunately, you need to be seated at the bar, not at the table next to it, not standing at the bar but seated at the bar. The staff is amazing, attentive and friendly. Also, it's happened a few times now where the hostess has given me a parking pass to go back to put into my car. Just a warning in case it's the day you visit. There are plenty of tables inside and outside seating has never been a problem unless you're trying to sit at the bar. The food has always been good with no reasons to complain. The portions are large and the adult drinks are never watered down. Definitely worth checking out, especially if you like to have a water view with your meal.

We decided to sit outside at Tate's and enjoy the beautiful sunny, breezy day. The outdoor seating made for a relaxing atmosphere, and it was a nice place to spend time with my boys. My youngest ordered the kids' cheeseburger with fries and enjoyed his meal. My oldest chose the Mokey Smash Burger, but unfortunately, he wasn't impressed. He said the burger was dry, the cheese didn't add much flavor, and overall it tasted bland. He loved the fries, thought they were crispy, well-seasoned, and easily the best part of his meal. He didn't even finish the burger or want to take it home, which says a lot. I ordered the Connecticut Lobster Roll with coleslaw and seasoned fries. The coleslaw was honestly one of the best I've had; fresh, creamy, and full of flavor. The fries were also excellent: crispy, well-seasoned, and delicious. As for the lobster roll, I've definitely had better here in Connecticut. The lobster was cooked well, and some bites tasted very fresh, but overall it lacked flavor. Even after adding the lemon and melted butter that came with it, it still didn't stand out. The service was also disappointing. Our waiter was not very attentive, and I found myself looking around to see if someone else could help us. I asked the person who brought our food for a cup of ice, for the glass jar of water that was at the table. Once again, I had to wait until our waiter to came back around just to get a straw. It made the dining experience feel a little frustrating because we had to keep waiting for simple requests. One small downside was the orange juice. My boys felt their cups had too much ice, leaving very little actual juice. After lunch, we decided to try the ice cream. Tate's has an ice cream and coffee window on the side of the restaurant, and our waiter did give us a 10% off card to use there. They offer a nice selection of flavors, one to three scoops, and plenty of toppings. I ordered the chocolate ice cream, while my boys chose Cookie Batter and Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Swirl. The ice cream was rich, creamy, and absolutely delicious. It ended our visit on a high note. Overall, Tate's has a beautiful outdoor atmosphere, great fries, amazing coleslaw, and delicious ice cream. However, the burgers, lobster roll, and lack of attentive service were disappointing. I would come back for the ice cream and outdoor setting, but I would have higher expectations for the main dishes and service next time.

Tates is a great indoor/ outdoor dining restaurant right on the water. This place is a summer vibe! You walk into a beautiful place and then walk out to a beautiful view! Obviously you have to come on a nice sunny day and enjoy the colorful outside dining area. You get to watch the boats and jet skis cruise the river while enjoying your lunch, dinner, cocktail or dessert. The margaritas are so good and come in a variety of flavors. You have so many seafood options that are perfect for a summer palate. I love coming here to relax, have a nice drink, some good food and have a waterfront experience without driving all the way down by the shoreline.

Love this place but I have to admit I was a bit disappointed with my 40 something dollar lobster roll.. I didn't have the most attentive waiter either. I had to flag him down to order a drink, then flag him down to order. My friend was really late, but we had to flag him down again to get her order too... it was busy, but still... I did however go to the fireworks on the river for the Fourth of July and that was well worth the price! We got drinks only, but it wasn't super crowded, we had access to clean bathrooms instead of port-a-potties that they have for the general public. And the live music was loud but really good.

Great service and delicious food. Lovely riverside view. The chocolate cake at the end was especially rich and tasty.

I am not sure why it took so long for me to finally check this restaurant out but I am glad I finally did. I did have a hard time using gps to get to the restaurant but once I got there I was glad to see that there was plenty of parking on a private lot. It was a bit too cold to dine outside but there looks to be plenty of outside dining with river views. They did have some heated igloo dining available but we dined indoor. Meet friends for Sunday brunch and had a great time. Service was great and our server was nice. Great portion sizes enough to have left overs. Would definitely like to go back again once the weather is warmer.

Nice place to hang out without driving an hour to sit along the river and boat watch. Sit out side with a nice breeze under umbrella topped tables or sit inside in the AC at the bar. Bar seats all face towards windows that have a nice view of the river. Great Drinks, Tuna Nachos for your appetizer.....And many great entree choices went with falafel and Salmon bowl. The falafel were nice and light and those 2 sauces so good. Salmon bowl was very filling.

We LOVED the mob theme!! From the entrance, to the wait staff outfits, to the menues, it was so much fun! Staff was very friendly. It is a little on the pricey side but worth it. Plenty of parking as well. Environment was relatively quiet , not too crowded. All of our food came out with very good presentation and it all tasted great .

Service was awesome, mob themed menu was excellent. The pasta sauce actually tastes reminiscent of my nonna's, which is impressive. Could use a touch of sound dampening but overall not a bad spot to spend a date night.

Tate's has quickly become one of our favorite restaurants in town, especially for brunch!! They now have heated Igloos on the patio so that you can continue to enjoy al fresco dining and the view of the Connecticut River even in the winter. We recently went to celebrate my daughter's birthday and she and I had a wonderful time!! There is a heater and blankets as well as a Bluetooth speaker so that you can connect and listen to your own musical playlist. As always, the food was delicious and the mimosas were awesome!! Our waiter was very attentive and when there was a discrepancy in the time limit on their website for the igloo and what we were told, he quickly took care of it and made sure we had the igloo for the full time. There is a $30 fee to reserve the igloo on top of your bill but it was worth the experience. Tate's is definitely a huge improvement from the previous establishment and a great addition to the Middletown food scene!

Incredibly festive spot for lunch, brunch or dinner around the holidays. It's right on the water, so you also get a beautifully wintery view. We came in on a Monday afternoon so it was pretty quiet. Our server was very attentive and sweet, and the food came out fast. The clam chowder was recommended, and it was quite good. I also got a tuna melt on gluten-free bread, and it was pretty decent. I'd be curious to come back and try other items on their menu, and maybe their cocktail menu as well.

The view is the best thing on the menu. The food wasn't even as good as "hello fresh" weak drinks.

What a night!!! My daughter picked this place for her…read morebirthday dinner and she loved it. From the first sip of her drink to the last bite. We decided to sit inside for a relaxed dinner with the piano background music. Our appetizer were really good , everything served on time and our waiter Kj was awesome, so patient and friendly. The main course was hot and served on time, the only thing I didn't like was the tomahawk was already cut and the hot plate was cooking it which it was served blue losing the experience and wondering if we actually got the entire thing . We had to send it back to be cooked to medium. The rest of our food was delicious, my daughter loved the Mac and cheese so much that we ordered extra to bring home. We were able to go to the patio where a band was playing and they sang the happy birthday to her, made her feel special. At the end of our nights she got a special treat from the Kj and again sang happy birthday. Thank you for this marvelous time. We will definitely come back.

I started off with the Red Fox Coconut Mojito and it was so refreshing and perfectly mixed. For food, we got the Grilled Scallops which were cooked beautifully and had so much flavor. For my main course I treated myself to the 18 oz Dry Aged Bone In New York Strip. It was an absolutely massive and gorgeous cut of meat, cooked exactly how I wanted it, and so juicy. We finished the night with the Wild Strawberry Ice Cream which was the perfect sweet treat to end such a hearty and savory meal. The atmosphere was great and the food was just out of this world. If you are in Middletown you definitely need to check this place out. I will absolutely be coming back!

Let me start by saying I originally placed an order through Uber Eats with this restaurant and…read moreabsolutely everything that could go wrong with the order did . I called back the restaurant after Uber Eats would not refund me and did not expect an answer as it was after hours however much to my surprise the cook did answer and recalled my order and began to elaborate how extremely sorry he was because they did want to reach me as they had questions about the order unfortunately though Uber Eats did not give them away to reach me . Although the cook promised to make it up to me the next time around I didn't expect the service that I received which is above and beyond as 24 hours later I received a call back from the restaurant apologizing profusely for my unhappiness and my original displeasure with their order . The woman indicated to me that unfortunately with ubereats it is sometimes difficult because if they have any questions they don't have a way to reach the client but she did not want me to have any unfortunate thoughts in reference to their service so after her working hours she literally came to my address four Towns over to drop off an order on the house which was clearly a much higher price than what I initially was charged and of course the quality was Top Notch and I don't know of any other restaurant that would quite give the same type of service especially when utilizing a third party that could initially be blamed for the screw up . So for anybody that has any doubts is far as customer service still being in existence nowadays believe you me if you search you will definitely come across it and if you're as lucky as I was you're not only have customer service from a restaurant that cares about its customers but also fresh and top quality seafood which can't be beat especially in the winter time here in Connecticut so please if you're in the mood to be treated well appreciated and well fed just know this is the place to go . I only wish customer service like this existed elsewhere nowadays as I can't say how appreciative I truly am for them going above and beyond for someone as simple as myself who clearly wouldn't make or break their existence . Have a great night and just know their lobster bisque especially along with their whole belly clams is outstanding and almost is good is their customer service and staff !!!

Good fish. Great Lobster Bisque. But oh wow, charged me 7$ for a domestic beer! Should be 4 or 5$.read more
