What just happened?…read more I used to love this place. In fact, I would drive 30 minutes each way just to pick up some of those tasty kebabs and that unforgettable garlic sauce. The food was so full of flavour and care, it stood out among Toronto's many Middle Eastern options. Lately, I'd been seeing a lot of their mouthwatering Instagram videos--chicken shawarma piled high, platters being loaded up with garlic sauce and fries, etc.... What can I say? The marketing worked. I started thinking about Aleppo Kebab and decided to order some for lunch via Uber Eats. Unfortunately, the meal fell flat. The shawarma was bland, and flavourless. The rice, once fragrant and almost biryani-like, was now just plain and forgettable. The salad was not dressed, the garlic dip tasted like it came out of a can, and the sujuk rolls were coated in a chalky flour residue that made them unappetizing. I'm not sure if this was just an off day or a more systemic issue. But every part of the meal was underwhelming. It's disappointing, especially when I know what they're capable of. They've clearly stepped up their marketing game--but if the food doesn't live up to the hype, no amount of social media will keep people coming back. I'll give it one more try before writing it off completely, but here's hoping the Aleppo Kebab I once raved about makes a comeback. Until then, 2 stars is fair.

My husband's falafel contained a variety of vegetables, and the wrap was toasted to crispy perfection. My son ordered the smoky chicken shawarma, which comes in a smoky, spicy wrap. He said that it was delicious, and unlike any other he's tried with its savory, smoky flavor. My daughter and I each ordered the Aleppo Kebab plate with rice. What a lot of food!! The hummus was so garlicky and well-seasoned, not the bland, pasty stuff that one sometimes encounters. The toum (garlic sauce) was a splendid accompaniment to the smoky beef. I really enjoyed my spicy bread (a flatbread that is dipped in some kind of sauce and then fried, I think). My spice-averse daughter was able to order regular flatbread. The Aleppo Kebab itself was quite mildly and subtly spiced, very flavorful, and exuded the smoky aromas of the grill. The rice, as it is in most middle and near Eastern restaurants, was superb, and flavoured with tumeric. It was a lot of food, and I have enough left over for lunch tomorrow. If you order the platters, I recommend That you order some extra bread to dip into the sauces. They offer a lot of sauce with these platters, all on the side in separate compartments of the take-out container. We were there for take-out, but it is a nice, family oriented atmosphere. The counter was busy all the time, with multiple people coming in for pick up orders. Despite that, the friendly staff takes the time to describe the food choice and make recommendations for future visits. And there will be future visits, at least by me! The cashier is towards the middle of the restaurant where there is quite a bit of seating at the back to enjoy your purchased items. There is also a small display of desserts as well next to the cashier. I opted to get a chicken shawarma saj with all the toppings (garlic sauce, hummus, pickles, turnips, onion & parsley, lettuce, tomato, tahini, and pomegranate molasses). I picked a table while waiting for my wrap to be made which took about less than 5 min. Service was friendly and they called out my order number on the loud speaker where I grabbed my wrap. The staff asked me if I wanted extra garlic sauce which I replied "yes!" where they placed more garlic sauce on my wrap. Sitting down, I took a nice bite out of my chicken shawarma. It was delicious - the chicken was moist and tender and the ingredients worked well together. Next time I do want to try the wrap with only Arabic toppings (garlic sauce, pickles, fries, and pomegranate molasses). However, I enjoyed all the toppings on my shawarma wrap which was also nicely toasted. The portion of the wrap was pretty big and I was full after I finished the whole thing. The garlic sauce was great - it was creamy and full of garlic flavour but not too overpowering. Overall, friendly service and a great place for shawarma near the Yonge-Dundas area. I totally understand why everyone's been talking about how delicious Alpha's Shawarma is!

Prefer this place to Shawarma Empire. Delicious shawarma and they will do a mixed chicken-beef shawarma sandwich. The flavour of the beef shawarma is better than at most other places, but it is not always available and they said it is because they are particular about the quality. Better fries than most other fast-food joints. Kebab-style burgers are delicious and they will put it into a pita instead of a bun on request. Food counter has recently been renovated. Courteous and accommodating owners and food prices are reasonable, especially when buying 2 sandwiches. Best for take-away. There are a few tables and chairs so one can enjoy one's shawarma freshly toasted from the panini press. read more

Salad options including tabbouleh and building your own with options including: lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onions Fresh warm laffa bread - I could have eaten 2-3 of these myself (order a sandwich with this bread - you will not be disappointed!) Each platter came with 1 laffa bread - we loved it so much they gave us 2 extra at no charge. The chicken was so fresh and full of flavour, dark meat that was juicy and not dry at all, the seasoning was perfection. Truthfully, this meal was so fresh and so good, that it tasted homemade. I took away 1 star for the hummus, tahini & garlic sauce. Hummus needed more garlic and lemon, garlic sauce the garlic was really suttle and a bit on the runny side and same with the tahini. Vaughan def has a lot of great shawarma options, that I am really looking forward to trying. I will also be returning here ti try some of the other meat options, plus I am already craving the fresh laffa! Stay tuned!
