chicken shawarma plate - The image shows a takeout container filled with a chicken shawarma plate. It includes cooked chicken pieces, yellow rice, a side salad with greens, and sauces or dips. The food is arranged in a compartmentalized manner within the container, which is open and placed on a white surface.

Really close to Yonge-Dundas Square. I came for a workday lunch and when I walked inside noticed a pretty long line and A LOT of dine in customers. Luckily the line was moving quickly and the cashiers were efficiently taking ppl's orders. The place is super popular. And with good reason. I ordered the chicken shawarma plate ($17.99) and got my box in like 5-7 mins after ordering. When I got back to work and opened the box I noticed that this style of shawarma was a lil different than some other shawarmas I've had. The meat was sliced in large, thin sheets as opposed to shredded, like at most places. I took my first bite of chicken and I was in heaven. The meat was soooo soft, so tender, so juicy. I believe they use both thigh and breast meat. Even the breast meat was juicy! They are also very generous with the amount of meat. You get some large pieces with the outer crispy bark which gives each bite a different flavour profile. The rice wasn't dry, the salad was well-seasoned and the garlic sauce packed a powerful punch (just the way I like it). This shawarma really hit all the highs. Because it's so close to my workplace, I think I might become a regular. P.S. I wish they accepted Amex.

Storefront - The image shows the exterior of Alpha's Shawarma restaurant in Toronto, with large glass windows and a prominent signboard. The signage includes the restaurant's logo, name, and promotional graphics emphasizing Middle Eastern shawarma and BBQ. The storefront has a modern appearance with glass panels and bold lettering, and there are social media icons visible on the signage.

This is the third Alpha Shawarma (all of them in downtown Toronto) and the newest. It opened on 2025-07-04. The restaurant chain started in 2022, featuring Lebanese and Syrian cuisine. We ordered the Mix Shawarma Plate ($16.99). It was delicious huge! Depending on your appetite, it may be enough for two people. There are generous portions of Beef and Chicken Shawarma, Fries, Salad, and two dips (garlic and hummus). However, there is far more fries than shawarma so maybe one person could finish it if they didn't eat too many fries. The customer service was good. You would place your order at one end of the staff area. They give you a receipt with an order number. There are a few "stations" where they prepare your food. They will call out your order number when it is ready. Then you can bring your order to your table our counter seating. There are self-order kiosks near the front. The restaurant itself is larger than other Shawarma restaurants in Toronto. It has a modern vibe. There is adequate table and counter seating. There are two electrical outlets at the front counter seating. On their grand opening day, they gave out a free shawarma wrap to each customer. I was told the lineup was extremely long and they had approximately 1700 customers! There is free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-open button. There are separate male/female washrooms and a third which is wheelchair accessible. There are two high chairs for little children. Review 2025-130

Relatively new shawarma joint that opened up recently across from the iconic Toronto Eaton Centre. It's located right next to the Burger King at Yonge and Shutter. The shawarma is made to order, and the spice level is customizable. Their shawarma is on the thinner, but longer compared to their competitors. Pro: They have a few tables in the back for customers to enjoy their meal.

This shawarma was not like any I've had, perhaps because it's Syrian style. The wrap is longer and crispy. I like the generous ingredients they provide. Service was quick, lots of space to sit, and busy even on a Friday at 5 pm. Would come again for a quick filling meal.

I tried the viral crispy chicken shawarma (spicy). Have to say it wasn't spicy at all but more importantly it was crispy and piping hot. Alphas always slices the shawarma off of the spit which makes for a great wrap. The staff was friendly and topped off the shawarma with extra garlic sauce and chicken. The place is nice as well and has a modern look. Would recommend if you're not looking for anything spicy

Bigger & Brighter! - The image shows the interior of a cafe with a contemporary design, including wooden wall accents, a large clock, and decorative metal plates on the wall. Customers are seated at tables, some engaged in conversation, while others stand near the counter. The ceiling has exposed ductwork and hanging lights, and there is greenery hanging from a wooden beam. On the table in the foreground, there is a can of Pepsi, a tissue box, and some small items. The overall setting appears casual and inviting.

New location, same great service and amazingly delicious shawarma! Literally the best I've ever had. While the Queen Street location feels like a small, cozy spot that's been there forever, this new one on Yonge is big & bright & fresh. Would go to either anytime, any day but appreciate the options!

We were seated and then greeted right away by our waitress. She gave us menus, but then didn't come back for about 15-20 minutes to take our drink orders. We each ordered a cocktail and they arrived within 5 mins. and all looked amazing. We had the Marissa Harissa which wasn't mine but I swapped for it because it was so tasty lol. It was spicy and a little sour and a little sweet. Very yum! I had ordered the Velvet Figue, which was tasty but a ittle on the sweet side for me. We also had the Amal Old Fashioned which was fantastic. My husband and I both said it was one of the best Old Fashioneds we'd ever had. The last one was the Amal Espresso Martini which was good but unremarkable. We waited about 20 minutes before our food orders were taken. We ordered several things to share. The first round came out around 10 minutes after ordering, which was good. We had the dip sampler and chose the hummus basil, baba ganoush and muhamarrah. The hummus basil was wonderfully smooth and had a great basil flavour. The baba ganoush was nice and creamy. The muhamarrah had a very nice flavour but was very sweet which was a little off-putting to me. I didn't hate it, but wouldn't order it again. We had the kibbeh which was fantastic. The texture and flavour were both perfect. We also had the spicy fingerlings which were great! They were very spicy and the sauce was lemony and so delicious. I actuallly mixed some with my muhamarrah to cut the sweetnss and that really helped. The rest of the food took about 20 minutes to arrive (after we finished the appetizers). We had the skewer platter for two and it was so delicious. The pistachio kabab was out of this world good. My sister doesn't usually enjoy lamb, but she liked this. It was spiced perfectly. The other two were very good too. We had the vermicelli rice, which was very nice. I make this at home so I'm familiar with it and really enjoyed it. The texture was perfect. Lastly, we had the pickle plate which was very interesting. The eggplant pickle was different from any pickle I've had before and was quite firm, which I wasn't expecting. It was tasty. We ordered a bottle of Lebanese red wine which was a very nice accompaniment to the skewers. All in all, it was a lovely evening. Our server was very nice and friendly and the food and drinks were very good. The 4-star rating is partly because of the very slow speed at which the food came out. I'd have given 4.5 stars if that was an option We would return.

The space really is stunning. You feel like you've stepped into something special once you're inside. It wasn't busy and we were seated right away without a wait. Food also came out quickly, which I appreciated. I ordered a latte and the Lebanese Omelette with tomatoes, green onions, capsicum, parsley, home potatoes, and pickled serrano, plus a side of 4 pieces of beef bacon. The latte was okay, nothing memorable. The omelette had good flavour and nice seasoning, but overall I found the dish a little dry. The beef bacon was probably my favourite part, especially with the little pops of pomegranate sprinkled on top, which added a subtle sweetness and texture. One thing that stood out this visit unfortunately wasn't the food. The textile bench cushions where I was seated were visibly stained and fairly worn. They were also uneven in height, and my table was positioned right over two different cushions. I ended up stuffing a pillow under one side just to avoid feeling lopsided the entire meal. It's a small detail, but in a restaurant that presents itself as polished and upscale, those touches matter. Overall, brunch was fine. Good, but not excellent. The food came quickly, flavours were pleasant, but it didn't wow me. That said, I've heard their dinner service is where Amal really shines, with a more expansive mezze selection and elevated dishes, so I'd be open to returning in the evening to experience the restaurant at its best.

We arrived around noon on a recent Saturday and the place was completely empty. A group of four fairly loud men showed up shortly after us and inexplicably sat at a table near us, but that's obviously not the restaurant's fault. The menu contained plenty of tasty-looking entrees, but I figured I'd grab the dish with the name of the restaurant in it: the Tarboosh ("Combination of shawarma and falafel"). The concoction arrived to the table quite a while later, which was weird considering how empty the joint was, and sure looked impressive. I dove right in. Everything on the plate was tasty but not mind-blowing. The chicken shawarma had a few crispy pieces, which was appreciated, but was mostly unreasonably dry. (The two included sauces helped with that, at least.) The falafel was fresh but strangely light. It didn't really have a strong flavor of anything, really. I enjoyed eating it, but it definitely didn't remind me of traditional falafel. The hummus was creamy but lacking in a strong chickpea flavor (i.e. the concoction was overwhelmed by tahini, essentially). However, once I began eating everything together, I began enjoying everything a lot more. The included bread help, too, even though it was far from the best middle-eastern bread I've ever had. Tarboosh is a mixed bag, that's for sure. If you're in the area, it's worth a try. I don't think I would travel to far to check it out, though.
