This Armenian restaurant gets 2.5 stars. Tanabour was rich, thick & creamy. Yogurt & mint meant it was a bit of an acquired taste, but it was decent.  Samsak was decent. The crumb was crumbly, though slightly dry. The beef tasted decent, though it was a little dry.  Ghacourma was alright. The beef was slightly dry. It came on rice which was confusing given the menu description. We got complimentary prepackaged lavash & pita on request to make the sandwiches, but given how simple the flavour was the sandwich didn't work as it was too dry & plain (since the bread was even drier & less flavourful than the rice). We decided to get takeout from lavash for lunch. Overall, the food was ready on time and packaged nicely so everything was easy to unpack and eat. The hummus and eggplant dip were fantastic. Great flavor, great texture. The salad had crisp lettuce and shredded cheese. The baked potato bread strips add a great crunch to the salad. The meats were all flavorful and cooked well without being dry. Our favorite was the eggplant appetizer which had tons of flavor and texture - just so interesting the way it's put together. " Wow factor " authentic, Armenian fare Lavash serves up authentic Armenian diaspora cuisine in a family format. After parking in the huge lot, ,it feels like home as you walk into a semblant of a modern urban chic house with about 30 or so seats spread out before you hit a wall of an impressive wine art cellar and some Armenian tableaux and artifacts along the walls, not to miss the fully stocked bar that also features a few bottles of the signature syrupy fruit and plum compote cocktail bottles that are so common in Eastern Europe. For appetizers, We started with the grilled hallumi ($13), which came in a lovely wide and narrow olive patter with cucumber slices and tomatoes, delicious! Next,came a lovely bowl of the garlic and mint labneh dip ($10) - It was bursting with flavor and needed every bit of the nicely packed lavash and pita breads to mop every bite! We couldn't help but indulge into the lentil soup ($5) which came in a lovey ornament bowl with a side of riled crispy pita chips. I have had my share of lentil soups over time ... and this one is definitely above the crowd! We were slowly getting full and we are just at the starters, Still!!! So I unbuckled my belt to give my tummy some wiggle room and just as I was doing that; a heaping bowl of amazing looking tabouleh salad waltzed onto the table ($13) - and let me tell you, wow! This was clearly just made in the back kitchen right there and then as it was bursting with fresh flavor, not too oily and just the right balance of lemony goodness in the well balanced dressing For the main, we opted for the filet mignon platter ($27) which came in as the star of the show at our table. The Cutesy square patter was lined up with the most tender seasoned grilled filet mignon beef cubes , definitely a barbecue showpiece and the highlight of the meal, MMMM MMM MMM yes, it was delicious, tender and a heaping portion with its two skewers ona bed of lavash bread which was soaking up the juices drippy below, wow! Yes, wow!. There was also a grilled lavash bread slice with a spicy tomato and onion topping baked in which is divine when you add in the side of the accompanying garlic sauce, chargrilled jalapeño and tomato, agan... wow! Wow wow! We added a side of rice ($8) which was delicious - a type of fluffy and buttery basmati rice that had vermicelli noodle pieces mixed in; Mmmm Mmmm Mmmmm!!! Just as we were about to burst, we were curious about the " dessert of the day " ($6)), Our meal was such an amazing experience thus far, how could we not at least try out the surprise? And we were stunned by how amazing the featured baklava patter serving was. Baklava is so common and we have all idly tried all kinds of varieties; In the Greek and Turkish varieties with are fillled with layers of phyllo sheets, istachio filing and then soaking and fully drenched almost taking swirls in a pool of sweet syrup this making them inedible after a few bites. Lavash's version of this dessert of the day " came into 5 cigar style small Baklava pieces that were nice and not too sweet at all; and this Armenian version of baklava was filled with actual baked whole pistachio kernels - wow, wow wow! Again, wow! There was a hint of syrup at the base of the platter below of each piece, it was so light that we can just savor and gobble up each one with 2 bites per baklava, wow! I was getting so full, I just had to wash it down with some hot mint tea just to keep my belly from bursting and finish things up on a high note, again, wow! Well, earlier I mentioned about unbuckling the belt, this is by far one of the best meals and dining experience we have had in a while - so remember to just come hungry because there is serious barbecue eating that you will be doing once you enter this amazing family run Armenian house...I mean restaurant. We definitely had to take some take out containers to enjoy some of the flavors later on. Did you know that tabouleh when it is properly prepared and fresh like it is here at Lavash, tastes even better the next day as the juices from the dressing fully bastes the parsley? When I asked if they have any fresh lavash, they offered to microwave the cold ones... The the service was sad (ordered tea, never got it) and at no point anyone cared to check if there is anything we need. The 3 stars are for the meats that were fairly fresh and tasty. Interesting dishes. All halal. The restaurant is intimate and nicely decorated. I think its a home renovated into a restaurant. Had the Lebanese MAKANEK for an appetizer which is a serving of a bunch of seasoned mini sausages in pomegranate molasses and pine nuts. It was interesting, though a lil stiff and dry; and ghavourma which was pulled beef on a rice, basically. They ghavourma was not extremely flavourful, but still tasty. The place was a bit dead for a weekday night, and the staff didn't offer us any drinks. Half way through the meal we had to ask for water. There is parking around the building. Came here on a Friday evening. It wasn't busy, no reservation needed. We ordered a combo for 2 and had leftover for another meal. We also ordered a yogurt and mint soup. FOOD: 4/5 We ordered a combo for 2 for $50. I was blown away by Baba Ganoush, Mouttabal, and Cheese Borak. My wife really liked the aforementioned items and Kebbeh. Rice was very tasty as well. Meat dishes left me disappointed though. Shish Tawook, Filet Mignon, and Kebab were all dry. They were all well done. Such a waste of meat. Normally, you expect the waiter to ask, "How do you want your meat? Rare, medium rare, medium or well done." Not here. They brought out 3 dry skewers that I ended up eating because I was hungry, not because I was enjoying the meal. SERVICE: 3/5 Nothing special. The waitress didn't even ask if I wanted the meat well done, medium or medium-rare. I paid $50 for a meal that I partially enjoyed due to overcooked meat. Not sure what the tip is expected for which starts at 15% on the payment terminal. A tip is earned for above and beyond service, when the server is particularly attentive to a customer. When an empty glass gets refilled without you noticing. When someone comes over and asks, "Is everything is ok with your meal?", etc. However, when the waitress can't even pack the food to go and you have to perform a service she's supposed to do, what's the tip for? My own labour? When you go to a restaurant, you expect a certain level of service and attentiveness. After all, I can eat at home just fine. Tipping is for great service. This is a new place that opened in the neighborhood that my wife wanted to try. We ordered mixed kabob and 2 appetizers, samsak (fried dough with beef) and garlic yogurt. I'm glad we finally tried Lavash because the food was VERY good. The samsak was addictive. The kabob was well seasoned and had a delicious charcoal flavour to it. The rice was also very flavourful and moist. The service was great. We ordered over the phone. They gave us a pick up time and the food was ready for us when we arrived. I'm definitely going back. We used to go quite often as the quality was excellent when they first opened. The food was very flavourful and you could taste the effort and care the chef put in. Unfortunately they have fallen in quality clear disregard for what is being served to customers. Completely burned and charred kebabs. We had to throw out half of it after cutting off the charcoal. First time trying Armenian food so I had nothing to compare to, but my family enjoyed the food so much we went back again and again. They also have excellent service. Ordered for delivery. Excellent food, just withholding a star till we can rate a dine-in experience. Great kibbeh appetizer, wonderful hummus and very tasty kebabs. My roommate enjoyed the lentil soup, which came with croutons and lemon. Even the rice was very tasty, real Middle Eastern style with browned vermicelli bits mixed in. Definitely want to try more dishes from them. Based on the dine-in prices on their own web menu, I'd also say they are quite reasonable, especially the large platters being a bargain. read more

Drove by and they appeared to have a nice patio. A few days later checked out what appeared to be a fine varied Armenian style menu. All the regular dishes and then a few more. Earlier today I checked out the reviews here and elsewhere. 5 Stars here and that was consistent on other site. Then I applied a bit of logic and sifted out the obvious reviews that did not seem genuine. Still came up with 5 Stars after doing that. My wife called them and made a reservation for 6:30 p.m. They were happy to accept it and they informed us they were doing a party. We arrived 10 minutes early, and I checked in inside (Patio Dining only are the local rules). A very attractive well decorated 'fresh' restaurant with nice lighting. The hostess politely asked if we could wait to be seated until 6:30. We totally did not mind. There were 3 tables of 6 full. One table was made up of moms and a baby. The other 2 tables were children between the ages 8 and 10 having a great time. A bit of running around, lots of laughing, much joyful noise. It was delightful! At 7 p.m. we had not gotten our appetizers. We had ordered Fattoush Salad, Eggplant Salad, Labneh and Fried Halloumi Cheese. At 7:10 p.m. at large group of adults arrived accompanied by 1 little girl. They immediately began asking to have the tables moved together to make it one continuous banquet style table. Our local outdoor rules for restaurants to follow is no more than 6 people at a table. The hostess was around as we had been asking about getting our food. The 3 cold appetizers only needed to be served and garnish but more than 1/2 an hour later they had not arrived. I took this opportunity to mention to the hostess that we were not comfortable was that kind of crowding in such proximity. We mentioned that we cared but that they should care too. The went to discuss this with the large group, but the tables kept being moved together. We decided to leave. On my way out I noticed the busboy carefully wiping the single use menus they brought to our table. So much for single use! It may be that the hostess did not have the experience or will to set out the restaurant's guidelines. She was a charming person, smiling and helpful. But some parts of the job are tougher. This was a sad evening. A nice long patio sit ruined by not getting any food and having it spoiled by inconsiderate pushy clients. We left and got some take out. Not the evening I expected, and I now wonder if they cut those corners in plain sight, what happens behind the scenes? read more

I love Armenian food and often try to find new places to go and experience the food. The experience I had at Lavash was absolutely terrible. The customer service is far below the expectation you would have at any restaurant. On top of this after speaking with them in advance about a corking fee, Lavash tried to charge us the full price of the bottle after we had brought our own. The place is run by a group who doesnt seem to care about providing an experience and environment usually provided by Armenian people. Placed an order with Armen over the phone...it was my first time ordering from Lavash, so I didn't know what to expect. When I turned into the parking lot I thought I died and went to Armenia....I was hit by the smell of heavens gates. I went in, the decor was exquisite, the customer service was impeccable, and everyone working there was super helpful and friendly. It was so hard to bring the food home, and not tear into the bags. The food was packed well, portions were fantastic.... And the food...well, it was even better than it smelled, if that's even possible. Absolutely delicious. I haven't tried many Armenian restaurants, but I'm glad I took a chance with Lavash. The grilled meats are deliciously seasoned and grilled just right. They also have very interesting Armenian specialities like Manti which are little meat-filled pastries. My wife and I enjoyed found these new and delightful. My other favourites are their delicious cold dishes such as hummus and the eggplant based dips. On top of everything, the staff (owner?) is very friendly and enthusiastically explains each dish to you, even during takeout. Service is not great at this restaurant. I loved the food however, when I tried to order take out at 1:PM on New Years Eve, I was told I can't until 8:30 PM and that I needed to order a week in advance. Are you kidding me? I called the day before to inquire about NYE/Day hours. I checked their website and there was no notification about having to order a week in advance for pick up on New Years Eve. I was using a gift card and now I will never go back to this restaurant. I have been in this restaurant for take out and I have seen customers screaming at staff. The food may be good and their prices used to be decent (they recently raised everything around 12%) but I cannot and will not be going back to this place ever again. As someone who used to work the hospitality industry (I am a chef) I know this response from your staff on the phone was garbage. You changed your mind when I said you lost a customer. It would never have been hard to accommodate a simple take out order. I guess you don't need my business. read more
