    Combo for 2

Incredible, beautifully presented and delicious dishes from Armenia and the surrounding areas. Hit this restaurant on a business trip to GTA and this was a #1 top pick that we will visit again. Service was spot on and the wait minimal despite many large parties.

When the name of the place is Lavash, the minimum I expect is fresh warm lavash bread. No fresh lavash bread here.. Cold bread wrapped in plastic bags... When I asked if they have any fresh lavash, they offered to microwave the cold ones... The the service was sad (ordered tea, never got it) and at no point anyone cared to check if there is anything we need. The 3 stars are for the meats that were fairly fresh and tasty. Overall I don't think I'll be visiting this establishment again.

Came here on a Friday evening. It wasn't busy, no reservation needed. We ordered a combo for 2 and had leftover for another meal. We also ordered a yogurt and mint soup. This is our first time having Armenian food. We enjoyed everything, especially the roasted eggplant dip . All meat was really soft and tender. Would recommend it.

MAKANEK (appetizer. Lil beef sausages with pomegranate molasses and pine nuts).
    Miss Lady ..

Interesting dishes. All halal. The restaurant is intimate and nicely decorated. I think its a home renovated into a restaurant. Had the Lebanese MAKANEK for an appetizer which is a serving of a bunch of seasoned mini sausages in pomegranate molasses and pine nuts. It was interesting, though a lil stiff and dry; and ghavourma which was pulled beef on a rice, basically. They ghavourma was not extremely flavourful, but still tasty. The place was a bit dead for a weekday night, and the staff didn't offer us any drinks. Half way through the meal we had to ask for water. There is parking around the building. I would recommend this place if you're looking to try something new and interesting.

FOOD: 4/5 We ordered a combo for 2 for $50. I was blown away by Baba Ganoush, Mouttabal, and Cheese Borak. My wife really liked the aforementioned items and Kebbeh. Rice was very tasty as well. Meat dishes left me disappointed though. Shish Tawook, Filet Mignon, and Kebab were all dry. They were all well done. Such a waste of meat. Normally, you expect the waiter to ask, "How do you want your meat? Rare, medium rare, medium or well done." Not here. They brought out 3 dry skewers that I ended up eating because I was hungry, not because I was enjoying the meal. SERVICE: 3/5 Nothing special. The waitress didn't even ask if I wanted the meat well done, medium or medium-rare. I paid $50 for a meal that I partially enjoyed due to overcooked meat. Not sure what the tip is expected for which starts at 15% on the payment terminal. A tip is earned for above and beyond service, when the server is particularly attentive to a customer. When an empty glass gets refilled without you noticing. When someone comes over and asks, "Is everything is ok with your meal?", etc. However, when the waitress can't even pack the food to go and you have to perform a service she's supposed to do, what's the tip for? My own labour? When you go to a restaurant, you expect a certain level of service and attentiveness. After all, I can eat at home just fine. Tipping is for great service. Not for ordinary or subpar service. WASHROOM: 5/5 One of the best and cleanest restaurant washrooms I've seen. A clean washroom is always a good sign when it comes to restaurants.

I had the lentil soup and the eggplant salad. The salad 5/5. Eggplant, carrots, walnuts n more. Light smokiness. Lentil soup 3/5. Decent thickness but bit plain. But pepper availb on table which i appreciate. The decor is bright and light and very clean. Too many overhead lights actually. Staff friendly. Priced right.

I love the kebabs especially the mix platters, the taste is very different an authentic Armenian cuisine, I'd come back in this place again

We were seated and then greeted right away by our waitress. She gave us menus, but then didn't come back for about 15-20 minutes to take our drink orders. We each ordered a cocktail and they arrived within 5 mins. and all looked amazing. We had the Marissa Harissa which wasn't mine but I swapped for it because it was so tasty lol. It was spicy and a little sour and a little sweet. Very yum! I had ordered the Velvet Figue, which was tasty but a ittle on the sweet side for me. We also had the Amal Old Fashioned which was fantastic. My husband and I both said it was one of the best Old Fashioneds we'd ever had. The last one was the Amal Espresso Martini which was good but unremarkable. We waited about 20 minutes before our food orders were taken. We ordered several things to share. The first round came out around 10 minutes after ordering, which was good. We had the dip sampler and chose the hummus basil, baba ganoush and muhamarrah. The hummus basil was wonderfully smooth and had a great basil flavour. The baba ganoush was nice and creamy. The muhamarrah had a very nice flavour but was very sweet which was a little off-putting to me. I didn't hate it, but wouldn't order it again. We had the kibbeh which was fantastic. The texture and flavour were both perfect. We also had the spicy fingerlings which were great! They were very spicy and the sauce was lemony and so delicious. I actuallly mixed some with my muhamarrah to cut the sweetnss and that really helped. The rest of the food took about 20 minutes to arrive (after we finished the appetizers). We had the skewer platter for two and it was so delicious. The pistachio kabab was out of this world good. My sister doesn't usually enjoy lamb, but she liked this. It was spiced perfectly. The other two were very good too. We had the vermicelli rice, which was very nice. I make this at home so I'm familiar with it and really enjoyed it. The texture was perfect. Lastly, we had the pickle plate which was very interesting. The eggplant pickle was different from any pickle I've had before and was quite firm, which I wasn't expecting. It was tasty. We ordered a bottle of Lebanese red wine which was a very nice accompaniment to the skewers. All in all, it was a lovely evening. Our server was very nice and friendly and the food and drinks were very good. The 4-star rating is partly because of the very slow speed at which the food came out. I'd have given 4.5 stars if that was an option We would return.

The space really is stunning. You feel like you've stepped into something special once you're inside. It wasn't busy and we were seated right away without a wait. Food also came out quickly, which I appreciated. I ordered a latte and the Lebanese Omelette with tomatoes, green onions, capsicum, parsley, home potatoes, and pickled serrano, plus a side of 4 pieces of beef bacon. The latte was okay, nothing memorable. The omelette had good flavour and nice seasoning, but overall I found the dish a little dry. The beef bacon was probably my favourite part, especially with the little pops of pomegranate sprinkled on top, which added a subtle sweetness and texture. One thing that stood out this visit unfortunately wasn't the food. The textile bench cushions where I was seated were visibly stained and fairly worn. They were also uneven in height, and my table was positioned right over two different cushions. I ended up stuffing a pillow under one side just to avoid feeling lopsided the entire meal. It's a small detail, but in a restaurant that presents itself as polished and upscale, those touches matter. Overall, brunch was fine. Good, but not excellent. The food came quickly, flavours were pleasant, but it didn't wow me. That said, I've heard their dinner service is where Amal really shines, with a more expansive mezze selection and elevated dishes, so I'd be open to returning in the evening to experience the restaurant at its best.

We arrived around noon on a recent Saturday and the place was completely empty. A group of four fairly loud men showed up shortly after us and inexplicably sat at a table near us, but that's obviously not the restaurant's fault. The menu contained plenty of tasty-looking entrees, but I figured I'd grab the dish with the name of the restaurant in it: the Tarboosh ("Combination of shawarma and falafel"). The concoction arrived to the table quite a while later, which was weird considering how empty the joint was, and sure looked impressive. I dove right in. Everything on the plate was tasty but not mind-blowing. The chicken shawarma had a few crispy pieces, which was appreciated, but was mostly unreasonably dry. (The two included sauces helped with that, at least.) The falafel was fresh but strangely light. It didn't really have a strong flavor of anything, really. I enjoyed eating it, but it definitely didn't remind me of traditional falafel. The hummus was creamy but lacking in a strong chickpea flavor (i.e. the concoction was overwhelmed by tahini, essentially). However, once I began eating everything together, I began enjoying everything a lot more. The included bread help, too, even though it was far from the best middle-eastern bread I've ever had. Tarboosh is a mixed bag, that's for sure. If you're in the area, it's worth a try. I don't think I would travel to far to check it out, though.
