    Beef/Lamb Shawarma
    Ivy L.

Have you ever walked down a street during lunchtime and wondered what in the world that smell is coming from cause it smelled so dang good?! This was what happened to us when we walked by Lebanon Express cause it was right outside the exit of our hotel on Yonge street! They had their doors open and we just smelled something wonderful that we needed to eat! We walked in and decided to order a Beef/Lamb Shawarma and some other things to try! Boy was the shawarma moist and flavorful! And fresh with that lettuce and sauce! Finance thought it was the best thing we had the whole trip, and it was decently priced! His exact words were, I thought we had good food in Houston but this shawarma blows away all shawarmas I've ever had before! He loved it and I have to agree, it was good. He actually came back a 2nd time cause he loved it so much! I see a trend here, wanting to come back to everything we tried for the first time. Toronto food scene really impressed us! Lebanon Express was a win for us!

    Amazing selection of salads

We stopped by Lebanon Express to grab a quick lunch to-go as it was near our hotel. There is a fantastic selection of freshly made foods available to choose from. The service was good although a little hurried even though there was no one behind us in line. The prices were good for the amount of food received. Do yourself and your taste buds a favor and check it out! I chose the falafel plate with a choice of three salads, plus two veggie samosas. We weren't starving and this ended up being a fair amount for the two of us to share. The salad selection was amazing. Unfortunately, nothing was labeled as I would have loved to have known what they were, but there were so many brightly colored and delicious looking options to choose from. We had a potato and sautéed vegetable salad (warm), which was a little disappointing and the only thing I wasn't wild about. We were kind of hurried through the line so the gentleman helping us suggested this and I just said sure, but I wish I hadn't. The other two salads we had were so much better. One was a PHENOMENAL kale salad with apples and cranberries, in a DIVINE vinaigrette dressing. Honestly one of the best salads I've ever eaten. The third was also excellent, with tomatoes and other veggies in a light dressing. All of this came with some fun pickled vegetables like red onion and cucumbers, and a few delicious sauces. The falafel was delicious and well-made, as were the samosas, which were served with delicious hummus. Everything we tried, except the warm potato and vegetable option, was excellent. The flavors were amazing, and everything was fresh. I would highly recommend stopping by Lebanon Express, and if you do, PLEASE get the kale salad. Amazing.

That's suppose to be roasted potatos

I am writing this review after ordering twice from this place delivery via a delivery service company. The food is inedible. Literally. I cooked a fish and needed roasted potatos and a salad, that's it. Potatoes and a salad, and what's in the pic is what I got with a bag of bread and paid 23 dollars for it. Like really, if you can't make potatoes and salad why are you even open?!

TL;DR Fast healthy lebanese food, with huge portions. Chicken Shwarma Salad - you get a choice of 4 salads. Chicken combo dinner - you get a choice of 3 salads, rice + potatoes. We highly recommend the roasted veggies and tabouleh but not the chickpea salad where the chickpeas felt undercooked. The chicken was a bit dry in our dishes but still flavourful. Both dishes come with naan, hummus, garlic cream and some pickled veggies on the side as well. Come here if you're hungry!

After a couple more visits I'm finally going to pass judgement on this shawarma place. My first visit was at peak lunch hours & it was busy so I was a little more forgiving. My next 2 visits were not during peak operating times. The chicken shawarma was ok nothing really to say, maybe a little dry. You can get the same quality at any other shawarma vendor in the city. How they treat each customer is an issue for me. When one group of people receives preferential service over another it's discrimination in my eyes. I don't want to use the "R" word but if it walks & talks like a duck then this place is definitely quacking. So if you are Caucasian, Middle Eastern or African, count yourselves the lucky ones. And just today I helped the owner lift the cash register table up so an elderly employee could put a wedge underneath. Did I get a thank you or any acknowledgement? Well I'm not one of the "lucky ones" so what do you think!

The guys working behind the counter are great! Super nice. It was my first time here and I asked them to put together their most popular dish. I got the chicken schwarma and they really packed it in. For $14 dollars you get alot. Very flavorful and they let you pick out 3 salads. I wish I got some extra hot sauce since I love them hot and spicy.

Whoa, talk about not judging a book by it's cover.... When you look at it from the outside, Lebanon Express looks like a fairly generic shwarma place. I was done with a walking tour just before lunch, and was super famished when I chanced upon this place that looked like it could provide me with sustenance on a budget. So in I went, and got a very pleasant surprise. It got the chicken roll and boy was it full of flavor. You get chicken, hummus, garlic sauce, the standard shwarma veggies, rolled into a pita that is toasted. Everything was fresh and delicious. I lived in Copenhagen before this where they swear by their kebabs, but this place throws Copenhagen a pretty mean gauntlet. And bonus, there is Arabic and Bollywood music playing on a loop on youtube on their TV. :) Cheap and good. Do go.

Fish filet platter came with a drink
    Victoria H.

An unexpected find after shopping across the street at winners. This small Lebanese spot has the freshest and best salads. I got a fish filet plate that came with 3 sides - beets, tabouleh and sauteed eggplant, peppers, chickpeas and potatoes that was sooo tasty. I will be walking 20 minutes from my office for lunch here in the summer for sure! The only downside is the price of 1 wrap was $13 and it only came with one side. I would recommend getting the $14 platters (falafel is $12) instead.

We were seated and then greeted right away by our waitress. She gave us menus, but then didn't come back for about 15-20 minutes to take our drink orders. We each ordered a cocktail and they arrived within 5 mins. and all looked amazing. We had the Marissa Harissa which wasn't mine but I swapped for it because it was so tasty lol. It was spicy and a little sour and a little sweet. Very yum! I had ordered the Velvet Figue, which was tasty but a ittle on the sweet side for me. We also had the Amal Old Fashioned which was fantastic. My husband and I both said it was one of the best Old Fashioneds we'd ever had. The last one was the Amal Espresso Martini which was good but unremarkable. We waited about 20 minutes before our food orders were taken. We ordered several things to share. The first round came out around 10 minutes after ordering, which was good. We had the dip sampler and chose the hummus basil, baba ganoush and muhamarrah. The hummus basil was wonderfully smooth and had a great basil flavour. The baba ganoush was nice and creamy. The muhamarrah had a very nice flavour but was very sweet which was a little off-putting to me. I didn't hate it, but wouldn't order it again. We had the kibbeh which was fantastic. The texture and flavour were both perfect. We also had the spicy fingerlings which were great! They were very spicy and the sauce was lemony and so delicious. I actuallly mixed some with my muhamarrah to cut the sweetnss and that really helped. The rest of the food took about 20 minutes to arrive (after we finished the appetizers). We had the skewer platter for two and it was so delicious. The pistachio kabab was out of this world good. My sister doesn't usually enjoy lamb, but she liked this. It was spiced perfectly. The other two were very good too. We had the vermicelli rice, which was very nice. I make this at home so I'm familiar with it and really enjoyed it. The texture was perfect. Lastly, we had the pickle plate which was very interesting. The eggplant pickle was different from any pickle I've had before and was quite firm, which I wasn't expecting. It was tasty. We ordered a bottle of Lebanese red wine which was a very nice accompaniment to the skewers. All in all, it was a lovely evening. Our server was very nice and friendly and the food and drinks were very good. The 4-star rating is partly because of the very slow speed at which the food came out. I'd have given 4.5 stars if that was an option We would return.

The space really is stunning. You feel like you've stepped into something special once you're inside. It wasn't busy and we were seated right away without a wait. Food also came out quickly, which I appreciated. I ordered a latte and the Lebanese Omelette with tomatoes, green onions, capsicum, parsley, home potatoes, and pickled serrano, plus a side of 4 pieces of beef bacon. The latte was okay, nothing memorable. The omelette had good flavour and nice seasoning, but overall I found the dish a little dry. The beef bacon was probably my favourite part, especially with the little pops of pomegranate sprinkled on top, which added a subtle sweetness and texture. One thing that stood out this visit unfortunately wasn't the food. The textile bench cushions where I was seated were visibly stained and fairly worn. They were also uneven in height, and my table was positioned right over two different cushions. I ended up stuffing a pillow under one side just to avoid feeling lopsided the entire meal. It's a small detail, but in a restaurant that presents itself as polished and upscale, those touches matter. Overall, brunch was fine. Good, but not excellent. The food came quickly, flavours were pleasant, but it didn't wow me. That said, I've heard their dinner service is where Amal really shines, with a more expansive mezze selection and elevated dishes, so I'd be open to returning in the evening to experience the restaurant at its best.

We arrived around noon on a recent Saturday and the place was completely empty. A group of four fairly loud men showed up shortly after us and inexplicably sat at a table near us, but that's obviously not the restaurant's fault. The menu contained plenty of tasty-looking entrees, but I figured I'd grab the dish with the name of the restaurant in it: the Tarboosh ("Combination of shawarma and falafel"). The concoction arrived to the table quite a while later, which was weird considering how empty the joint was, and sure looked impressive. I dove right in. Everything on the plate was tasty but not mind-blowing. The chicken shawarma had a few crispy pieces, which was appreciated, but was mostly unreasonably dry. (The two included sauces helped with that, at least.) The falafel was fresh but strangely light. It didn't really have a strong flavor of anything, really. I enjoyed eating it, but it definitely didn't remind me of traditional falafel. The hummus was creamy but lacking in a strong chickpea flavor (i.e. the concoction was overwhelmed by tahini, essentially). However, once I began eating everything together, I began enjoying everything a lot more. The included bread help, too, even though it was far from the best middle-eastern bread I've ever had. Tarboosh is a mixed bag, that's for sure. If you're in the area, it's worth a try. I don't think I would travel to far to check it out, though.
