We went there for Father's Day with my daughter taking out for brunch here. It's located in the Yorkville Bloor area and the interior decor and ambience is lovely. Muted and with shades of middle eastern. Vibes without being overpoweringly so. The servers and hosts were dressed in uniforms ( white and beige) that seamlessly blended into the surroundings. And the service was rip notch as well. The food was amazing. Especially the shawarma. The best presented shawarma I had seen and the taste was similarly good as well. The halloumi was seared to perfection. All in all a great experience. And the final bill was pretty cost effective. Considering the place had been in the Michelin guide for the past 5 years.

Was back again for post dinner drinks and snacks. Had the chicken wings which were surprisingly good. These will be added to the rotation. 3 dips was good as usual. Tip: you can ask for more pitas and chips. They give you so much dip there is no way you can adequately use it all with the first set of chips and pitas. Sausage was not that good. Would pass on that. Service was solid as usual. They were nice enough to accommodate our bags with an additional two chairs. That was nice.

Came here for lunch around noon on a Thursday. Maybe a quarter of the restaurant was filled. My service was fast and friendly This spot came on my radar primarily for the pistachio kababs. I'm also a huge fan of muhammara, so I opted to switch the hummus that comes with the plate for that. They apply a $4 charge to do so The kababs were solid. The meat was flavorful and had a nice soft texture. The pistachio didn't really compliment that well in my opinion, I definitely enjoyed the bites with less pistachio more when I included some of the onion As you might have guessed with a spot like that, the muhammara does not pack too much of a punch spice wise. It was still nutty and tasty, but doesn't compare to what I've bee as at more mom and pop type places. The weakest part of the dish was unquestionably pita. 3 very thin floppy pieces that had no chance of picking up any sort of dip. Imagine if a school lunch happened to include pita Overall not my favorite dining experience in my visit to Toronto. My guess is a lot of the praise around the spot is the decor, which was very nice, but not really what brings me to a restaurant. If you find yourself in a similar boat I'd recommend skipping on this one

I love Amal - the food is simply fantastic. The interior is absolutely stunning, definitely somewhere you can dress up to. Lots of variety on the menu, and options for sharing or individual plates. I'd recommend the chicken tawok skewer platter and the garlic labneh. Staff are helpful, drinks are strong. It is a bit pricey but on par with higher-end restaurants in that area. I'm looking forward to going back!

Highly recommend! I have nothing but positive things to say about Amal. The restaurant interior was spacious and beautiful. The staff were friendly and helpful, not at all overbearing. The food was delicious! We ordered the dips sample platter and the chicken skewer platter. The dips were fresh and flavorful. The chicken platter was so yummy. They will also refill the pita for you! We walked out of there feeling so satisfied with Amal.

My partner surprised me with reservations for Amal for my birthday. Initially, I was a bit hesitant because we had a bad experience with another high-end Lebanese restaurant a few months prior, however, we had the best time ever! We had a hard time picking what we wanted, and decided on skewers for two, which included two pistachio kabas (beef and lamb), one tawook, and one veal tenderloin. The dish also came with a side of fries. We found the meat very tender and flavourful, and I could not stop eating the leftover pistachios. We also got to try the truffle rakakat - which included honey, grapes, mint, and pistachios. I'm glad we were able to try this because it's one of those dishes we would order next time! The dish was rich, sweet, and again, I could not stop eating it. Service was very quick, friendly, and attentive. We were very full after the rakakat and kababs, but the restaurant gave us date cake at the end of our meal to celebrate my birthday. Overall, we had such a great time because of the service and food, and we would come back to try the other dishes. Accessibility: the restaurant is located on the second floor which is accessible by elevator. Paid private and street parking are available. Close to public transportation. One of the washrooms had a changing table.

We had originally planned to dine at a Middle Eastern restaurant, but overlooked checking their website--which, as it turns out, had a dress code. Dressed in shorts and gym shoes, we didn't feel quite right going through with it. So, we pivoted to Amal--and it turned out to be the best decision we could've made. The space is stunning: bright, airy, and thoughtfully decorated with a warm, inviting vibe. We grabbed seats at the bar, right by the homemade pita station, where the aroma alone was mouthwatering. The food and drinks were refreshingly light, and the bartenders were attentive and welcoming. A perfect evening, born from a change of plans.

Amal offers a vibrant upscale dining experience, showcasing Middle Eastern cuisine. The ambiance is stylish and inviting, making it a great spot for both casual dining and special occasions. You may even catch a belly dancing performance if you're lucky. The menu offers a range of halal dishes and shareable platters. While the food was decent, it lacked anything truly remarkable, despite the appealing atmosphere and price point. The ingredients used to put together the Nulbulsi Salad lacked harmony in taste, and the Chicken Tawook was a bit dry and over-charred. Nonetheless, I found the Hummus, Octopus , and Mocktails quite enjoyable. The staff here were all friendly, but the way they ran things seemed a bit disorganized. We had two servers assigned to our table who were unable to track whether or not our orders (preference of water, drinks, then food) were taken so we were asked the same thing multiple times. Then at the end of the meal they seemed to have forgotten about us after they took away the dishes, since they didn't offer the dessert menu for us to see and it also took a while to get the bill. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible as there's an elevator for you to go up to the second floor, and there are paid parking garages near by.

Everything at Amal was tasty! The service was good and they answered any questions we had about the food to accommodate for dietary preferences. The kanafeh was good, but it was lacking the crispiness in texture that I am usually craving from this dish. The interior is beautiful in the evening, and it makes me want to come back again for brunch when the light comes through the windows! I would also love to try some more of their menu and a couple of their drinks on a night where I don't have to work the next day!

Tucked into the heart of Yorkville, Amal is a Lebanese gem that offers a refined dining experience without losing the warmth and hospitality that defines Middle Eastern culture. I came here for a Sunday brunch and was immediately impressed by the elegant ambiance; modern yet cozy decor, stylish accents, and an overall upscale feel that sets the tone for a great meal ahead. The service throughout was genuinely friendly and attentive. Amal offers both a brunch and lunch menu on Sundays, which makes it perfect for a leisurely mid-day meal with plenty of variety. Reservations can be easily made online, which made planning ahead super convenient. To start, we ordered the Amal Hummus, and let me just say, this is not your average hummus. Topped with tender veal pieces, roasted pine nuts, and bursts of pomegranate, it was hands down the most flavourful hummus dish I've ever had. Paired with soft, warm pita bread, it was the perfect start Most dishes here are designed for sharing, which is a great way to try multiple things. We followed up with the Truffle Rakakat: crispy, spring roll-shaped bites with a cheese filling, coated in pistachio. Absolutely delicious, rich yet perfectly balanced. We also had the Nabulsi Salad, which was an unexpectedly delightful mix of flavors and textures. It came with baby arugula, avocado, cherry tomatoes, eggplant chips, Nabulsi cheese, and pomegranate, all tossed in a light apple cider vinaigrette. The eggplant chips added a unique crunch, while the Nabulsi cheese really made this salad stand out. Refreshing and satisfying, it was a great addition to the meal. For mains, we shared the BBQ meat combo, which came with a pistachio kebab skewer (a unique twist that worked beautifully) and a chicken tawok skewer that was juicy, tender, and full of flavour. To top things off, I ordered the Amal Espresso Martini, which had a subtle cardamom note that elevated the drink and paired perfectly with the rest of the meal. Every dish was thoughtfully crafted, packed with flavour, and beautifully presented. Whether you're familiar with Lebanese cuisine or trying it for the first time, Amal offers an elevated take that's both authentic and inventive. Highly recommend for a brunch date or a stylish group outing -- just make sure to come hungry and ready to share!

Extra star for the ambiance as it was a lovely space, obviously well thought out as every corner is an Instagram moment waiting to happen. The dining experience and service pushes it to a 4 star but the food itself was more of a 3. We had the baba ghanoush, the monk salad, fried fish and the grilled octopus. The baba ghanoush was more yogurt based, missing out on the potential of really highlighting the grilled eggplant flavor. The monk salad was the standout of the night, very bright and fresh with a good balance of vinegar. The fried fish was good, but we were a bit confused as our server advised that we would have to debone it ourselves. I expected a full fried fish (which I can handle) but when it came to the table it was definitely just a fillet. Also the choice of fried pita on top of a crunchy fried fillet is questionable as it doesn't bring anything to the dish. Lastly the octopus was over grilled which was disappointing.

Made reservations for two in advance, and we were seated right away. I wish I had an option to check jackets because I had a really big winter jacket on when I went here and it was hanging off the chair based on where we were sat. I also didn't like that. We were so close to the station and I left there with my jacket smelling like food which I don't like. It's located upstairs and it's a little difficult so just be aware that it's not easy as you think it is. We shared a couple appetizers and a bottle of wine. The meal that I took a picture of was my favorite. It was the three dip with pita and it was delicious. We also shared the lamb kebabs and they were juicy. The ambiance in here for Tuesday night was pretty awesome and they had the music playing in the background which felt like a Thursday. This place is another Instagram worthy place. There's so many great shots you can take. From a size ratio, not sure it's top of my list to return too.

Please take my review into consideration knowing that I haven't been there in at least 15 years…read more That said, I feel like I owe this restaurant a review because it was such a big part of my life and holds so many wonderful memories for me. When I moved to Canada in 1995, this restaurant was within walking distance of my sister's apartment, so we ate there all the time. Back then, if I remember correctly, they had a buffet for around $15 per person, and it was an incredible value. The food was always fresh, delicious, and plentiful. This restaurant became part of many chapters of my life. When I got married, I brought my husband and his family there because I wanted them to experience the food I loved so much. Later, when I had my children, it became one of the places we would visit whenever we were in Mississauga. At one point, we even lived in Mississauga for about a year and a half, and if we couldn't make it to the restaurant, we would order takeout instead. The amazing thing was that the food was just as delicious at home as it was in the restaurant. The restaurant itself wasn't huge or fancy. It was simple, comfortable, and focused on what mattered most--the food. The staff were always welcoming, and everything seemed to run smoothly. To this day, the lentil soup and the kibbeh are stuck in my head. I honestly think they were some of the best I've ever had in my life. Sadly, I can't enjoy the kibbeh anymore because I have celiac disease and have to avoid gluten, but those flavors are still some of my favorite food memories. I also remember that the mother of the family was involved in the cooking. Whether she is still there, retired, or if the ownership has changed, I honestly don't know. Because it has been so many years since my last visit, I can't speak to how the restaurant is today. What I can say is that the memories I have of this place are wonderful. The food was excellent, the service was great, and it became one of those special restaurants that stayed with me throughout the years. The next time I'm in Mississauga, I plan to stop by and see if the food is still as amazing as I remember. If it is, I know I'll be leaving with a huge smile and a full heart.
