    Chicken shawarma saj wrap
    Tracy T.

I'm genuinely so sad of what has become of my favourite downtown shawarma place. Ever since my first visit, I've been raving about this place to friends and coworkers. I've never been to another place that offered saj wrap before and I worked fairly close by so it always held a special place in my heart. Unfortunately, over the last two months, I've noticed drastic changes to the overall quality of their food. The saj roll is now stuffed with less filling, leaving a lot of extra layers of wrap that are both dry and hard. It seems the wrap got thicker too so it doesn't have that satisfying "roti crisp" that it used to. And to make matters worse, they stopped putting pickles into the wrap so it doesn't have that tangy balance or flavourful crunch anymore. Not to mention, this is all paired with chicken that's slightly too dry. The last two times I came by to give this place another shot and to rule out "oh I just got unlucky", I was disappointed with my order. I don't think I'll be back anytime soon anymore.

DO NOT ORDER DELIVERY.prefacing this with the fact that I called the restaurant and they knew there was an issue and was told they would get it right next time. Ordered a few things, including the potato twisters and the veggie plate, along with an extra garlic sauce. The potato twisters we got were potatoes with ceaser dressing and lettuce, which is so far off the description it isn't even funny. Garlic sauce was missed, and the veggie plate was drowned out in what I can only believe is a 5 year olds try at making baba ganoush. Overall very disappointed with the order, and was hung up on by the restaurant after complaining, and them admitting to not making it correctly.

Nice and simple. The service is a bit on the slower side but I enjoyed the taste and flavour of the chicken shawarma I ordered. It's a nice and causal spot but the presentation is what makes the food great. Shawarma lovers check this place out.

Beef Kafta Super Saj Roll ($11)

We were looking for a quick bite to eat when we stumbled upon this spot on yongue. Their were some seats inside, but it the food was prepared very quickly. The server was very nice, and the restaurant was very clean and nicely decorated. I ordered the Beef Kafta Super Saj Roll ($11) was much longer than I expected for the price. The beef was a nice match of crispy and juicy beef with a nice seasoning. The veggies we're pretty typical of a shwarma joint, but I did appreciate how fresh they tasted. They layered the plate with a nice drizzle of balsamic vinegar which was a nice presentation. The highlight of the meal was the bread. It was different then any other shwarma joints I had been too, as it was crispy and thin, which was a nice contrast to the soft veggies on the inside. The low prices and high quality with quick service was great. If I lived in the area, I feel like I'd be coming to this place ALOT. $11 for a large shawarma, with a unique quality (the bread) that sets it apart? Yes please.

M'Zaar Restaurant looks very clean and nice. Great location, not far from Yonge and Bloor. One of the employees was friendly, the other one not so much. Looked like he has a bad day. I ordered Chicken Shawarma wrap that was pretty big and costs $6. It was toasted lightly and I walked few blocks before eating. What a mess. The garlic sauce was overpowering. Way too much garlic sauce, he didn't even ask if I wanted it. Chicken pieces were both dark and white meat, also lots of fat pieces. The wrap was felling apart, soggy and wet from juices. There was actual liquid (I guess from chicken) leaking out. I could barely eat half, the rest went to trash. I think Chicken Shawarma Platter would be much better. Their hummus is okay, but nothing special. I am not sure I will give a second try. I would also add a picture but it was nothing pretty.

This place is 5 minutes away from my office and I'm so happy that I stepped inside. I decided to get the chicken shawarma plate because it looked huge and really varied, and everything from the potatoes with garlic sauce to the chicken shawarma was really well cooked and delicious. They serve it with hummus. I ordered the small portion but it was HUGE. Also really competitive prices, good promotions on shawarma specials, and quick service. Find a nice shawarma place near work: check! Satisfy shawarma craving: check!

Same dish, couple months apart - portion is now smaller.

Been here three times, and each time the portions get smaller, and the prices are certainly not dropping. There is a lot of good to this place - fresh ingredients, tasty, variety of options, and service is alright. However, I am not a fan of buying a large dish, which in the past was filling and led to me recommending it to friends etc., to now receiving the same large container that is 1/4 empty for the same or possibly higher price - I was told that the prices have gone up, but I can't be sure. Last night I ordered a large chicken shawarma plate and 4 falafels ($1 each) to go, and when I got home I found the portion to be small, and the falafels were placed on a bed of greens with no sauce. Really?!

This place is a delicious spot for authentic shawarma. Very good flavour profiles to their wraps and very hearty as a meal. The wraps have good structural integrity, however if you like saucy wraps you will have a messy bottom as the sauce usually always pours through from the chicken. Place is very small and some seating options in the back but overall not good for big groups.

A stroll away from Wellesley Subway is M'Zaar, a Middle Eastern restaurant. When you walk in, make sure you don't trip on the slight ledge. Other than that, this simply adorned restaurant's greatest feature is .... food!! I ordered a small plate of Shish Taouk, which came in a generous portion for $9.99. It has one skewer of chicken on a plate filled with rice, potatoes and salad. The chicken was tender and flavourful. You can order a large plate of their dishes for only $2 more, and i hope you are HUNGRY because the portion of food is huge! My friend ordered a wrap, and even that was the biggest wrap i've seen. Super nice staff. Chilled casual atmosphere. Will definately go back!!!

Got the fattoush salad with chicken. It tasted so fresh and delicious! If you dont know what fattoush is I found out its a bombin salad with tiny square crispy pita chips! Its definitely fun to eat and the guy at the counter is a bit of a dreamboat with his accent and all. Just live that m'Zaar experience.

I've been coming here for a while now, and, although I'm not a big fan of Lebanese food (nor do I claim to know much about it), M'zaar is delicious, quick and with fair pricing. There's a huge shawarma at the back where they slice off the meat when you order, and they ask if you want the food spicy or not. If you want it spicy, they drizzle in some sort of spicy-looking sauce that is actually quite mild in flavor. The food is always hot and fresh, plus it comes with some nice sides if you want them. I prefer the wraps over the plates (they grill the wrap to make it crispy!) and you can also order their food off of the Ritual app. I usually take my food to-go, but if you dine in, there is always a lot of space for you to eat at.

We were seated and then greeted right away by our waitress. She gave us menus, but then didn't come back for about 15-20 minutes to take our drink orders. We each ordered a cocktail and they arrived within 5 mins. and all looked amazing. We had the Marissa Harissa which wasn't mine but I swapped for it because it was so tasty lol. It was spicy and a little sour and a little sweet. Very yum! I had ordered the Velvet Figue, which was tasty but a ittle on the sweet side for me. We also had the Amal Old Fashioned which was fantastic. My husband and I both said it was one of the best Old Fashioneds we'd ever had. The last one was the Amal Espresso Martini which was good but unremarkable. We waited about 20 minutes before our food orders were taken. We ordered several things to share. The first round came out around 10 minutes after ordering, which was good. We had the dip sampler and chose the hummus basil, baba ganoush and muhamarrah. The hummus basil was wonderfully smooth and had a great basil flavour. The baba ganoush was nice and creamy. The muhamarrah had a very nice flavour but was very sweet which was a little off-putting to me. I didn't hate it, but wouldn't order it again. We had the kibbeh which was fantastic. The texture and flavour were both perfect. We also had the spicy fingerlings which were great! They were very spicy and the sauce was lemony and so delicious. I actuallly mixed some with my muhamarrah to cut the sweetnss and that really helped. The rest of the food took about 20 minutes to arrive (after we finished the appetizers). We had the skewer platter for two and it was so delicious. The pistachio kabab was out of this world good. My sister doesn't usually enjoy lamb, but she liked this. It was spiced perfectly. The other two were very good too. We had the vermicelli rice, which was very nice. I make this at home so I'm familiar with it and really enjoyed it. The texture was perfect. Lastly, we had the pickle plate which was very interesting. The eggplant pickle was different from any pickle I've had before and was quite firm, which I wasn't expecting. It was tasty. We ordered a bottle of Lebanese red wine which was a very nice accompaniment to the skewers. All in all, it was a lovely evening. Our server was very nice and friendly and the food and drinks were very good. The 4-star rating is partly because of the very slow speed at which the food came out. I'd have given 4.5 stars if that was an option We would return.

Please take my review into consideration knowing that I haven't been there in at least 15 years…read more That said, I feel like I owe this restaurant a review because it was such a big part of my life and holds so many wonderful memories for me. When I moved to Canada in 1995, this restaurant was within walking distance of my sister's apartment, so we ate there all the time. Back then, if I remember correctly, they had a buffet for around $15 per person, and it was an incredible value. The food was always fresh, delicious, and plentiful. This restaurant became part of many chapters of my life. When I got married, I brought my husband and his family there because I wanted them to experience the food I loved so much. Later, when I had my children, it became one of the places we would visit whenever we were in Mississauga. At one point, we even lived in Mississauga for about a year and a half, and if we couldn't make it to the restaurant, we would order takeout instead. The amazing thing was that the food was just as delicious at home as it was in the restaurant. The restaurant itself wasn't huge or fancy. It was simple, comfortable, and focused on what mattered most--the food. The staff were always welcoming, and everything seemed to run smoothly. To this day, the lentil soup and the kibbeh are stuck in my head. I honestly think they were some of the best I've ever had in my life. Sadly, I can't enjoy the kibbeh anymore because I have celiac disease and have to avoid gluten, but those flavors are still some of my favorite food memories. I also remember that the mother of the family was involved in the cooking. Whether she is still there, retired, or if the ownership has changed, I honestly don't know. Because it has been so many years since my last visit, I can't speak to how the restaurant is today. What I can say is that the memories I have of this place are wonderful. The food was excellent, the service was great, and it became one of those special restaurants that stayed with me throughout the years. The next time I'm in Mississauga, I plan to stop by and see if the food is still as amazing as I remember. If it is, I know I'll be leaving with a huge smile and a full heart.
