Updated review March 2026. This shawarma place has been serving up great value in Scarborough neighborhood for many years. I always come here for the 2 for $13.50 chicken shawarmas. The chicken is cut fresh off the spit. The toppings looked fresher today. The chicken portions were a bit smaller than before but the weight of the shawarma still felt substantial. Many years ago my driving instructor took me here and it is still one of my favourites in town! The 2 for deal is still amazing and good value even when it has slowly increased in price. Usually we get mixed meat and all the toppings. They are stuffed to the brim and then heated on a press. Always hits the spot! read more

This used to be my favourite neighbourhood spot, and they still have a great deal on two shawarma wraps which is great for sharing with a friend! (Or eating by yourself if you're really hungry haha.) The service is always good here, and I appreciate that they are always really clean and well maintained. The veggies and sauces taste fresh, and you'll be guaranteed to get a great shawarma here. It's a shame the prices almost doubled in the past 4 years, but I guess that's a reflection of the economy. My go-to shawarma place after work is this hidden gem located at the corner of Sheppard and Pharmacy. They're open late and offer great value, especially for their shawarma. I always order the mix plate, which includes a plate of rice and a mix of beef and chicken. The meat is seasoned well and has a nice char from grilling. I always ask for extra tahini and garlic sauce because the meal tends to be a bit dry. Keep in mind that this place is only takeout and doesn't have tables. Hmm was craving Shawarma so looked around the area of what had high ratings and Tasty Shawarma came up ! Food wise was pretty good ! We ordered the chicken / beef shawarma plate to share . Order was $11.50 not including tax and as the name says it , it came with both chicken and beef shawarma.. along with a fragrant rice and fresh salad ! It was a pretty wholesome meal . My partner loved the beef shawarma. I personally loved the chicken more as the beef had some unique spices I wasn't too fond of . In terms of location , atmosphere, it's not the greatest . Very dimmed lighting , not much customer services ie I came up to the counter and was pretty much ignored until I spoke up lol . The washroom was on the dirtier side that I ended up opting off and going close by to indigo to go instead lol. Easily one of the worst shawarma spots I've been to. The chicken was cold, dry, and overcooked, and they didn't even carve it fresh. It was just sitting there for who knows how long. The toppings looked old, and the whole place just gave off an unclean vibe. Customer service was just as bad. The staff barely acknowledge you, and when I asked for more of a topping, they try and charge extra! Keep in mind, this was close to closing time, and they straight-up admitted they reuse the meat the next day instead of tossing it. I've been to this "Shawarma" spot twice now and NEVER again will I return. First of all the custome service and quality is terrible. They stare at you and give each other looks as you order. And can barely speak English or address your questions properly. The toppings look awful, the chicken was cold and burnt! they didn't even freshly cut it off the rotisserie. The first time I got a chicken wrap they barely put any chicken and the second time I asked for a little extra because they clearly don't put much the dude says no and said it's 5 dollars extra! It was at 11:30 and they closed within an hour but refused to give me more chicken? I then asked why not just give me a little extra since you will be wasting the food, they said they reuse the same meat the next day . Anyways save yourself the headache and food poisoning and don't buy from this fake shawarma made by browns not arabs. I respect this place a lot as a solid business operator and keeping food prices low while everywhere you see price gouging of meals 30%+ You won't find this place a fancy joint but it is rather a great take out place that you get a fulfilling meal that is fresh and tasty. The food here is really good. You get to pick the meat and toppings and they use a panini oven heat it up. Currently they have a special (no ending date yet) of two Shawarma sandwiches for $7.95 (one for $5.20). They also sell falafel. They used to sell Kabab but stooped about a year ago. As of 2019-12-09, they owners opened a Tasty Kabab next door that specializes in Kabab. They even cut a hole in a wall so that you can walk between the two restaurants. Friendly, slow staff. The chairs are still stacked in a corner and garbage cans are taped up. This is not authentic shawarma at all. The flavor was bland zero flavor and the sandwich was not even wrapped properly. The liquid yogurt they kept referring to as garlic sauce had a drowning spoon going in and out, it was disgusting. Been a few years ... Still going strong. Taking into consideration the price, portion, and food quality, this Tasty Shawarma location is A1 for me. To begin with, the prices are nothing to complain about and taking into consideration the daily traffic you know you are getting fresh food. Typical shawarma store menu, clean environment. My normal order would consist of either the Chicken Shawarma or Chicken Sandwich/Burger. The chicken sandwich with all the sauces (ketchup, mayo, mustard, garlic, hummus, hot sauce etc etc ) is def worth a try. There is a huge line up and 4 of them are just standing around talking to each other with no regard for the customers in line whatsoever. After reading all the good reviews I had high hopes for this place. I went in to check it out and got a chicken shawarma plate. There was a line up and the guys behind the counter worked well enough to keep the line going. The place itself has a small seating area and it wasn't overtly dirty but it wasn't very clean either. There's also some random rectangular hole in the floor near the door. It's has short metal sides that jut up from the floor. Kinda odd and hazardous. The chicken and the rice were made well and the portion size was decent too. The pickled turnip was more acidic tasting than most other places. But the biggest problem I had with this place was the garlic sauce. It was so subdued with no bite. The tahini sauce overpowered the garlic sauce!! Tahini. Overpowering garlic.... I was shocked and let down. Also they don't have roasted potatoes. Just french fries. To those that enjoy a good deal (and don't mind garlic sauce tasting like plain creamy sauce) they have 2 shawarmas for $7.75. Loved this place up until my last visit 3 days ago. Ordered 2 of their chicken shawarma specials for $7.75 (that's 4 total). I also ordered a side of garlic sauce. Finally reviewed this place. Major bang for buck. We got here by 7ish. And when we got in, this place is busy! That's a good thing. These guys moved fast too. So we ordered the 2 shawarmas for 7.95. And it's a decent deal. We ordered one chicken and one beef. We brought our food home and it was still piping warm. Chicken and beef weren't dry and quite flavourful. It's a small takeout joint with a couple of tables for customers to eat. It's 10.00$ for a Chicken or Beef Shawarma Plate which includes rice and salad. You can opt for fries instead of the rice but it's a decent portion. Rice wasn't super fresh this time around. I got the Beef Shawarma to see if it was as good as the Chicken Shawarma which everyone raves about here. It was ok but not out of this world. I would come back since it's inexpensive and OK. Not as solidly stuffed as other places I normally go to, also when you come a bit too late, you get bites of stale lettuce so make sure you're eyeing what goes in your pita. Sometimes, I'm guessing someone is lazy to top up the veggies because cheap eats bring in the crowd so breathing is optional for the staff here. Tasty Shawarma is just a few minutes drive from Esquire which is also open til about 2 am on Fridays and Saturdays and for some chicks, it's buying every chocolate bar near the cashier at a shopper's drug mart or an Esso, for me? It's buying every meal combo from my favourite chicken meals in the area where I'm in. It's a bit of a trip and wild ride this third pregnancy and the gargantuan cravings have been no different. A decent amount of meat with fillings of fresh vegetables (lettuce, pickled radish, onions etc) in a pita bread; heated in a panini grill. The melding of the vegetables, and meat with the sauce is 'oh so good'. I get my shawarma fix here once a week. My favorite is the chicken shawarma and I get two of these for $11.13. The beef one has more of a traditional herbal spiced flavor and while it is not bad it does not compare to the chicken, IMHO. Take-away only since the pandemic restrictions. Looking forward to sitting down and eating there but no biggie. Recommended. read more

Excellent place for a working day lunch I have been to this place for so many times so far as it is close to my work place, you can have a 2 shawarma sandwiches for 8 dollars. I have almost tried all the items on the menu and I can easily give an honest feedback. He prices are unbeatable in Toronto, what you get for 8 dollars is a huge 2 sandwich that you cannot completely finish. The service is fast, though there s always a queue as there are about 10 items on the menu, shawarma makes the most of it. The portion is generous and the vegetables are freshly chopped, and the meat is sliced upon assembling the sandwich. The taste of the meat is acceptable for me, though I prefer a little bit more spices, but still it is on the mild zone. As for the falafel, it is crunchy and freshly fried when you make the order. Yes, it's cheap. At $7.99 for 2 sandwiches, it's a cheap eat. Is it a good cheap eat though? I wouldn't say so. I was here two or three days ago and if someone had blindfolded me, I wouldn't have been able to tell them I was having chicken shawarma. I could tell them I was having shredded chicken in a pita, but not much more than that. It lacked flavor all around. No garlicky tang from the garlic sauce. No zing from the pickled turnips (Oh. The top layer of pickled turnips looked dehydrated in their container). It needed more flavor all around. Bonus points for a quick toast in the panini press, but I came for a chicken shawarma wrap and felt like I ate a really boring chicken wrap. Our go to shawarma place in Richmond Hill. The price is unbeatable, food quality is excellent and the service is friendly. We usually go here after gym or if we are craving some shawarma for dinner. If you like lamb, do try their lamb plate. It is a bit spicier than most other options in the area, but that makes it special. Couple of things I really like about this place are: Value, decent food handling practices (I like how they use gloves and use new ones frequently), they make sure the chicken is cooked even if it makes the customer wait (I am completely fine with that) and the food is good. Some things they could improve on is: Staff - it's hit and miss some are rude, careless when adding toppings and some are good (it's fast food so not that big of a deal). Consistency, I order here VERY frequently, but some times I'll get a good shawarma and sometimes it'll seem empty. Still a four star in my books though. read more

Good but not great. You know the old expression "bigger isn't always better" it applies to Tasty Shwarma. The flavour of the meat is good, the service is friendly and quick. It's in an easily accessible area by car and parking is fine. The pitas though are too big. The put a standard amount of meat in them which is fine but the pitas are so huge they have to fill the space with so much salad, pink turnip, parsley, onions etc. Now don't get me wrong I love all those ingredients but when you are just getting bite after bite of pink turnip it's not so good. If suppose you could just ask for half of the quantity of veggies but you shouldn't have to. * Note that the restaurant in the photo above with the nice new building is not the Tasty Shawarma at 2993 Sheppard. Busy place. Clean shop and friendly staff. Meat on the vertical spits look appetizing. Had the 2 shawarma wraps for $9 tax included. Been to a few shawarma places and this is the first to use an electric shaver to cut the meat. Chicken and beef are way too thinly cut. The wraps were so loosely packed that it flopped around when you ate it. Filling was like 80% lettuce. Very little sauce and other garnishes. All I could taste was lettuce. Every bite...no tang from pickled veggies, no garlic from any of the sauces.....couldn't even taste the meat...just lettuce!! At least they were able to toast the wrap in the press. May give them another shot to see if it was a bad day or the norm. read more
