Chicken & Beef mixed plate
Jason M.

Really friendly employee (might've been the son or a relative of the owners). This resto has the most bland red and white signage and is located OPPOSITE of First Markham Place (on the side with the burger king, blinds to go and escape room place). However, don't JUDGE A BOOK BY IT'S COVER. The food is incredible. The menu is quite simple and it's usually quite empty in here. I heard great things about this place so I tried a mixed shawarma plate (beef and chicken). All the meat was juicy. Didn't get any overcooked meat which is very common at shawarma places. My man at the counter hooked me up with the fattest portions inside my takeout box. Gave me extra hummus, extra sauce and extra pickles (I was half joking when I asked for them). The food was bursting w/ flavour and I was sooo full after my meal to top it off! At the time I tried this place, an order was just under $10 pre-tax. I'm sure it's gone up slightly since then but the value is 100% there.

They are a local Shawarma stop located on Highway 7 and Woodbine. Their menu offers a selection of wraps, plates, burgers, apps and more! What made our experience memorable was the great customer service by the owners. They were kind, smiling, and seemed to really appreciate every customer for supporting them. We ordered the chicken shawarma plate, and compared to a few places I've been to, their portion was pretty big. There was a good amount of chicken shawarma ratio to rice. Overall it tasted great, and if I could add improvements, it would be to have the pita wrap (that came with the plate) to be toasted, and to have a garlic paste. They had a garlic sauce but was on the creamier side, similar to creamy garlic consistency. I would definitely come back to support them again, and you should to IG: Ayenomz

I was craving for shawarma when I came to this place. But I made a two mistakes given what I wanted. 1) I ordered the mixed shawarma poutine instead of a wrap. The poutine tasted like it should with cheese and all. 2) I forgot to ask for garlic sauce. I am certain my experience would have been much more positive had I done the above. The guy at the cashier is really nice. I am guessing that they are husband and wife team. i.e. mom and pop shop. I definitely want to come back to correct my mistakes and experience the shawarma that I am still craving for! Jan 11,2022 update I had another chance to drop by and ordered a Kafta (lamb) kabob wrap. I got my garlic sauce this time and am very happy! Up one star! PS For the ones who are super sensitive to COVID protocols... I did notice the staffs were wearing a small clear face shield over the mouth. All that does is shielding spits flying out of their mouths. That is, there is zero filtration either from the staff to the room or from the room to the staff. Just make sure you are wearing N95 mask nicely sealed against your face if you are concerned over these things.

Wow, this has to be one of my favourite shawarma places in Markham now... I had no idea I had great shawarma so close to home! My boyfriend and I were craving shawarma one day and came across Shawarma Stop and figured it was only 10 minutes away from home. We came 30 minutes before they closed on Saturday and it wasn't too busy. There were a few people in line but the line moved quickly. We got the beef and chicken shawarma and I have to say the chicken is definitely better in my opinion! I loved everything that came with this plate and the portions here are so generous. When you checkout, they also offer a pita on the side for no extra charge. I can't wait to come back again probably within the next couple weeks tbh!

This is my go to for affordable, huge portion, tasty wrap!! The poutine here is also of huge portion. The owner is super friendly and nice and one time my bf dropped his wallet without noticing, the owner right away pointed it out. And it also accepts credit card!!

My rating is 3.5 stars. I have a few food phases happening in 2018. The earlier part of the year was fried chicken. My current quests are chicken wings and shawarma. I have noticed that I spent a lot of time having shawarma in Mississauga, mainly because my favourite shawarma place, Pita and Grill, is located there. I just happen to also work in this city, so it's easy for me to get my fix. Well, how about Markham? Where can I go for delicious shawarma? I decided to give Shawarma Stop a try the other night. I got there at around 7 pm on a Friday night. i walked in and there was a bit of a lineup. It was a good sign. I went with the chicken shawarma wrap. I got everything on it, except the hot sauce, garlic sauce, and turnips. The woman putting my wrap together was so nice, as was the man who set up my debit card purchase and packed up my order for takeout. While waiting, I looked at the enormous box of poutine that a table had ordered. There were four folks there. It is delivered to them without closing the lid. I hope that they were sharing it. It is way too much for a single person to devour, except if you have been on a fast for four days. My wrap was put together pretty fast. It was huge! The ingredients were fresh. It was good, but the chicken wasn't as yummy as what I get at Pita and Grill. The problem towards the end was that everything was falling out of my wrap. I needed a utensil to pick up the remaining quarter of the filling. It does get messy, but you have plenty of napkins to help you out! There is plenty of parking, even with Shanghai Nook Restaurant's recent grand opening within the same plaza. I parked in front of Blinds To Go, which was pretty dead. I will try the platter next time and see if this place becomes my shawarma stop close to home. (349)

This place is by far my favourite Shawarma spot in Markham! The portions are huge!!! Thinking about it makes me sooo hungry They have a variety of options like mixed meat, beef and chicken! They have poutine options if you don't like rice and potatoes! Definitely so worth trying

2.5 Star I love to support family business and Shawarma Stop does have this small homey cheerful vibe. Maybe it was a mistake to order a Chicken Shawarma Wrap? The cheapest item on the menu. I could not even find the chicken after taking several bites. I do know veggie and salad is good for me but I am getting a "Chicken" wrap after all. I do expect 1/3 of the filling be at least chicken. Maybe a Chicken Shawarma plate is a better choice? At least I can see what I am getting. A pass for me unless I have craving for a veggie wrap.

So. What happens when a bunch of people from one part of the world meets a bunch of other people from other parts of the world and settles on this part of the world and decides to have a feast? You get FUSION FOOD! Not to be confused by ConFusion Food. ConFusion food is when things just don't work out. Yes you heard it hear first. ConFusionFood is not good. Like when grissol breadsticks are served with yogurt and KimChi. Like Chicken Tikka Masala served with Texas toast and celery dip. Like ... we can go on this forever. Suffice it to say, I never did these but for those of you who did or thinks it's cool...? Good Luck!!! Hmmm...what happens when you take a potatoes idea from France, put it in the hands of their distant Quebecers cousins and then passed on to imaginative Mid-Easterns in Canada? You get Shawarma Poutine! Yum! My bud and I was hungry and we decided on this place as his co-workers frequented the establishment. Located east of Woodbine on Hwy 7, they are in the neighbouring mall to Burger King. Plenty of parking and they open until 10PM - for those who need to fill up after work or just snacking out. The place itself is a basic fast food place. A garnish station/cash area with food prep on the back counter. Menu prominently posted above as you contemplate your plates. Buddy had the mixed meat (chicken and beef) shawarma plate. Loads of meat, veggies, hummus and a pita. I just went for the Chicken Shawarma Poutine. Portions were unexpectedly large. Finished just over half of my order and it satisfied my need for "such bad for me but oh so good" food. Packed the rest and will have it for breakie. All in all, I liked it. The family run business was fast, friendly and obviously added to the spare tire. Definitely a repeat place for me. Now that's Fusion. For those who didn't like it, there is a Sauerkraut, blueberry parfait muffin waiting with your ConFusion Food name on it! Cheers!

Solid shawarma option in Markham. The workers here are really friendly! The chicken shawarma plate is filled to the brim with meat! It sits on a bed of rice and potatoes. There's some hummus and tahini to the side, with a small salad and some pickles. Everything is very fresh and tasty. Good value! Their wrap combos are a great deal as they come with a drink and side as well!

Oh Shawarma Stop, why do you have to torture me? The entire drive where I had to endure the smell of your take-out in my car was unbearable. The contents were a brown mess afterwards as I hit every swerve like I was straight out of 2 Fast 2 Furious 2 Hungry. But what a delicious brown mess it was. Sitting under a plain, arial font sign, in a small plaza off a busy street, is this humble little joint. It's timeless in a no frills kinda way; it could've been a store from the 80s or 90s. However, where it lacks in decor, Shawarma Stop blows you away with, yes, its shawarmas. Who can argue with HUGE portions of delicious Middle Eastern food? The wraps are the size of a baby. The plates can feed several starving children. Size doesn't count if the food's not good so I'm pleased to say the food here justifies the imminent face stuffing. The chicken is juicy, the falafels are tasty, the wraps are toasty, and the rice is fragrant. Their sauces (garlic, hummus, tahini) and sides (veggies, pickles) are perfect compliments to the meat and carbs. They've also got boxes of baklava off to the side. Tempting, but never tried. This is the kind of quality only achievable by people who love what they do and the family that runs this place definitely puts love into every bite. Even the french fries are fresh fried! In conclusion, here are some situations that Shawarma Stop is perfect for: 1) Coming out of LA Fitness next door and needing your protein gains, bro. 2) You need a balanced meal, but you also need one hand to do stuff. Like type, or drive, or threaten someone who owes you money. 3) Your GF says "I don't know" when you ask her what she wants to eat, but you know she's trying to stay healthy and you're trying not to spend your rent money on food. 4) It's after 8pm which means it's your toddler's bedtime and apparently also Markham's bedtime because EVERYTHING is closed. 5) Other. Shawarma poutine with garlic sauce
Sabrina C.

Saw a bunch of pictures of the shawarma poutine and it looked amazing so I had to try it out. It honestly looks A LOT better than it tastes. Maybe my taste buds are too 'salt-heavy' but the poutine really had no flavor. Gravy was pretty watered down and the meat was dry but the tangy garlic sauce was a redeeming factor. To be fair, I came specifically for the poutine and didn't get any wraps since I live in Scarborough and there's already a bunch of amazing authentic shawarma places here. I work nearby so maybe I'll get the wrap next time and that'll be a better indicator of the quality of this place.

The kaiser bun is so soft, the meat is freshly sliced then stacked high, options of mustard, cheeses, lettuce and tomato. It is quite the exercise for old jaw to unhinge to its max to make way for enjoyment of his meat combos. His famous Roast Beef is cooked to a rare-medium, not well done like at the supermarket. I would have preferred a horseradish Mayo instead of the mustard, maybe you can ask if that's an option on your next visit. The Fight Club is an assortment of meats, and for $8.50 it's a great deal. Now these are not Foodie sandwiches, nothing extra unique to be discovered, it's just fresh, quality and made with a smile for you. They also sell frozen meals and soups to go. I have a heavy tray of Eggplant Parm in the freezer, will comment on that after it's gets baked. I'm ordering a sandwich platter for a potluck, he makes the traditional sliced bread, deli meat triangles or sliders from his wall menu(these are $3.50 each).

Super homey feeling and the blackboard styled menu was cool. Owner seemed nice as well. For my order I got takeout on the Friday special - Hot roast beef sandwich ($8) and a chicken samosa ($2). I think I enjoyed the sandwich a decent bit. Definitely fair priced and came with lettuce, onions, and cheese. However, the sandwich was super greasy and when we ordered, he just microwaved it lol. At least subway will put it in an oven. The samosa was pretty tasty though. Overall, I think my experience lacked a bit but maybe their cold roast beef is better (but it also wasn't available when I went). 3.5/5 stars.

I've been to a handful of Osmow's. They are either close to my workplace or in Markham…read more The first Osmow's that opened in Markham is on Woodbine Avenue, just north of highway 7. My first experience wasn't the best. The business made things better when I went back a second time, but it does take a bad first experience to deter me from being a return customer. I have been driving along Markham Road (highway 48) weekly. I flagged getting takeout for dinner here a couple of Wednesdays ago. After getting groceries in Whitchurch-Stouffville, I ordered food from this Osmow's through my Uber Eats app. I got mixed proteins (chicken and beef shawarma) on fattoush salad, with garlic sauce and tahini. I tend to like anything on salad in general, but I crave salad a lot these days. My order was estimated to be ready in 25 minutes. I knew that I would arrive early with my lead foot, so I stopped by Chatime nearby to pick up some bubble tea. Osmow's is steps away from Firehouse Subs. I backed into a spot in front of Osmow's main entrance and walked in. It is strictly takeout from this eatery. All tables and chairs are stacked away in a small corner of the store. I had a nice man help me. I showed him my Uber Eats order number at the counter. He fetched my order that was in a plastic bag. I thanked him and headed out the door. When I got home, I put away my groceries and then had dinner. I like that the container keeping my food safe was compostable. I also got cutlery and napkins in my plastic bag. My mix proteins on salad was yummy. I loved the morsels of tender chicken and beef shawarma. The garlic sauce and tahini were full of flavour. I went with no spice. At Osmow's, it can get super spicy if you go hot. The fattoush salad was fresh. The iceberg lettuce was crispy even with the sauces and proteins on top. I enjoyed the ripe tomatoes, onions, green peppers, and cucumbers in this salad. I did ask that the crispy pita croutons be held. They were. Yay! I devoured my meal. It was so good. My tummy and I were happy. I have found an Osmow's location in Markham that I like. I look forward to trying more food items off the menu. I am eyeing the lamb salad next. (205)
