This is a go to for late night eats in the main st area. It's right off the subway and is open super late! I have never tried their meat fresh, as I usually show up after 9pm and at that point the meat has been sitting for a while and is pretty dried out. This may seem like a downside but it really doesn't affect the delicious taste of the shawarma wrap at all. They always have all the ingredients you could ask for. However extras come at an additional cost. They don't seem to have the cleanest environment and the place is pretty small (could probably fit 3 people at the window bar) but they do make a mean shawarma! Good shawarma, and the plate is a massive pile of food for a reasonable price if you're really hungry. Staff changes often and varies from wonderful to a bit gruff. But it's a short interaction so who cares? Do keep an eye on what they give you, I've had the odd person take a more conservative view of "everything on it" than others. I've been to a few shawarma places, Heck my dad even owned one! But because I lived close by Main station the urge for shawarma would kick in. The sauces and the tenderness of the beef is actually quite tasty. The chicken is a little dry but it's really just preference. Usually only middle easterners work there but taking 2nd place to what my dads shawarma's used to taste like they're pretty good in East York. I'd actually recommend you go there. Cons have to be the fact that there's no parking so you have to have your partner keep an eye out for parking enforcement, also no U-turns in front of the place and there's often cops around that would be happy to give you a ticket for breaking rules... I've been going here for quite awhile. Always been satisfied with the food. On April 26 22 at 8:20 pm I arrived at the front door only to find it locked. I knocked on the door and the gentleman in the restaurant said break, break. I asked for how long, he said, 30 minuets, meanwhile he was still behind the counter. The website said they are open with no mention of break times. I drove twenty minuets to get here. Everyone deserves a break, I get that but the way it is done here is just not right. A modest gem of a corner shawarma place marked by amazing service and remarkable freshness. The ingredients are piled up with care, bountiful but never tired looking. The guys behind the counter are fast but not careless. The meat is singed but never dry. The fresh salads are always scrumptious. The fried eggplant is decadent and delilectable. I love this place - the owner is wonderful and usually the staff are the same. Unfortunately today (June 28/22 at around 5:30 p.m.) my experience was very different. The guy working there at this day/time was rude and difficult. I ordered two shawarmas (without bread - I am not allowed it) and I wanted vegetables (minus the potatoes - again for dietary reasons). The guy said he couldn't leave the potatoes out - I asked why when I usually order this and there is no problem with getting it (I am even prepared to pay more for the difference). This guy said no - outright - I said I cannot eat the potatoes - he didn't care - he said the owner told him this is how you do it and who was he going to listen to - the owner or me. Well I am the customer and if I cannot eat certain things you listed to the customer. If I order something and ask the restaurant not to put certain things in it because I can't have them - there is no problem. But this guy was rude and arrogant - and usually I dismiss such people but today I told him he was an asshole - because he was - you can't FORCE a customer to have an ingredient that they cannot eat for dietary reasons. The owner needs to educate this guy. I am a good customer at this shop and I was shocked to be treated this way. On top of that the two chicken shawarmas were made with dried up and hard chicken pieces. Very disappointed and sorry for the owner that this employee may drive customers away - because the owner is decent and so are most all of the employees - just not this guy. read more

Two mixed plates with veggies spicy with extra white sauce and pita bread . When I used to take the TTC i get off at Main Street and walk towards Sultan and order this almost daily. Never got tired of it even till this day. If I couldn't decide what to eat I wouldn't hesitate to get mixed plates. I get their wraps when I need a snack and plates when I'm hungry. Love this place. I'm a falafel fiend and this is one of the best in the city. Fresh ingredients, cooked to order, tell em to go light on the sauce unless you like to make a mess and get extra turnip. However I have one problem, the constant price changes this place has. Sometimes it feels like a clustered mess. I always bought two shawarma wraps here because I find them very small and they never fill me up. Each one was about $5, they had a special going that if you bought two, it would be $9. So I always got that. But after a while they made it $10....Okay fine I'll still buy it. But last time I went they charged me $12.50. I payed that last time and never came back. Then about the next week, my friend told me he bought exactly the same thing from there and they charged him only $10. I don't mind paying an extra few measly dollars, it's not the money at all. It's the feeling that I got gypped that bugs the hell out of me. This was a while ago though, so I have no idea if it's changed now. But I have never gone back since then. The food all seems to be on the high-end of standard shawarma fare, in terms of quality and freshness. Large portions at very reasonable prices. Decorum is a little dingy, and there isn't much space for seating if it's busy, which it appears to get. I've been picking up food here for mmmmm years. Good shawarma -chicken/beef/mixed. Love their pickled turnips and their homemade sauces are great. Buy some of the sauces (in the fridge by the cash) to take home. Soooo good. Definitely fast and uh fast service. Missed my Mortimer 62 bus by minutes. 12 minutes til the next one. If you're looking for a shawarma in this area, this is your only option. Better tasting options are downtown or in Scarborough. Had the traditional chicken shawarma. one of my favourite toppings are the pink pickled radishes. For some reason the ones here were not looking very appetizing. They were old and grey looking. I decided to opt out of those just to be on the safe side. Disappointed that they don't make their own hot sauce like many of the small mom and pop shops - this one was commercial. Price was good and the sandwich size reflected the price you were paying. This place gets a bit of traffic from being in close proximity to the subway - hungry passengers picking up something a quick lunch or dinner. Yum yum yum!!! We read the rare number of reviews, trusted our friend's recommendation, and we were so happy with our decision to visit Sultans Shawarma. The team there was very polite and respectful. Service was clean, timely, and prepared with care. We ordered 2 mix shawarma take out plates, and a separate order of 8 falafel pieces. Lots of flavour, fresh, and delightful! When we are west of Yonge Street we typically visit Sarah's. It's great to know when we are east of Yonge Street that Sultan's is just around the corner! We've been to Paramount Fine Foods (over priced menu!!!) who has a delicious menu. However, why pay the Paramount price when you can get such great selections at the likes of Sultan for so much less $$! read more

This was my favourite place for shawarma, portions are large and about $13-14 a plate that comes with meat, mixed rice, salad and a plain pita. I use to come here more often but less now. The rice and salad that is included in the meat plate is nice. But the meat is a bit dry. I like the white sauce and hummus that is included. The shawarma wrap is also nice too. read more

The owner of this place is a real jerk. I went in for a chicken shawarma sandwich, saw a guy behind the counter and gave him my order. The guy completely ignored me and just kept walking along the row of hot plates taking bits of food out of each. Then I noticed he was wearing a nice coat and figured he must be the owner who popped in for a visit. After a while he went back into the kitchen and an employee came out to take my order. I was the only one in the shop and so the employee started right away. But then the owner came back and ordered a sandwich - so the employee immediately stopped working on my order and made the owner a sandwich. He then gave it to the owner who started eating the sandwich while standing in the door of the kitchen before finally getting back to my order. Anyhow, the food was okay and the rest of the staff were pleasant, but what terrible customer service from the management. read more
