Visited @Shah's Halal Food in downtown Toronto for dinner on a rainy evening. The views of the CN Tower and surrounding skyline created a cozy night. The food quality was fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. Service and overall experience were smooth. The only downside was that the meat portions felt slightly limited compared to expectations. Went here for lunch and was pretty decent nyc style chicken and rice box. I got the mixed chicken and lamb with rice and salad. It was 12.99 and was pretty filling. The sauces they put on tasted good. The hot sauce was actually spice so beaware. I would come back here for lunch read more

I live around the corner and this place is never busy, after trying now I know why. I got the Lamb platter and the Lamb is process meat and pre-cooked left in heated water all day. The flavour wasn't that good. Definitely would not go back again. Compared to other high quality shwarma restaurants this is definitely pretty poor quality and cannot compete with this. read more

Moist falafel , tasty sauces. decent lunch option! Simple menu selections of either pita , salad, or a plate but that covers most of the bases. I noticed there were not a ton of topping options including the more traditional falafel toppings. But the flavour was still good. Hard to eat because it's not wrapped like a traditional falafel either so I used a fork for most of it. Toronto already has so much stiff competition for middle eastern food so not sure this NYC- based chain will do much to push the envelop but the falafel was still solid nonetheless. read more

It was one of the last days of TIFF and I needed to grab a quick lunch, and I just happen to love a wrap in any form, so Shah's Halal Food seemed like a superb option. I showed up around 11:00 on a Saturday and immediately decided to order the Gyro Chicken Wrap. The guy serving me heated up a pita and loaded a bunch of tasty-looking chicken on it, and then asked which other components I wanted. There were a lot of options, so I asked what he recommended and he said most people go with everything, so everything it was. I did grow concerned, however, as he began loading mixed salad, plain lettuce, chickpeas, black beans, and other ingredients into the concoction. He's the expert, I thought, so he must know what he's doing. The wrap was finished off with hot and white sauce and handed off to me. I sat down and picked it up and, as I suspected, it immediately fell apart in my hands. I went and asked for a fork and ate it that way, until the end when I picked up the empty pita and ate that separately. It's pretty tasty. The flavorful chicken is tender and spicy, while the other components work well with it. It basically eats like a meat salad, which is fine, but I was in the mood for a wrap. I might return to Shah's sometime in the future, but I don't think I'd ever order a wrap again. I'd spare myself the frustration and just order a bowl. read more

Seeing how popular this spot was in New York with its numerous locations, there were certainly big expectations. Unfortunately, this spot falls below the already mediocre Osmows. The food was overall very bland, and the quantity was very minimal. The server used a teaspoon sized scoop for toppings, giving us 4 chickpeas each at best. The famous Shah's sauce was also very disappointing, as it resembled watered down ranch. Being right behind the block to Azkadenya, there is simply no competition.
