I can't say enough good things about Takhte Tavoos--this place is an absolute gem! Every time I…read morecome here, I leave full, happy, and already thinking about my next visit. First off, the Dizi is unreal. It's rich, hearty, and packed with so much flavor. Breaking apart the broth, mashing up the meat and beans, and scooping it all up with fresh sangak bread? Pure comfort food magic. And don't even get me started on the Zeytoon Parvardeh--those marinated olives with walnuts and pomegranate molasses are next-level delicious. The perfect mix of tangy, nutty, and just the right amount of sweetness. The whole vibe of the restaurant is warm and inviting, and you can tell the food is made with real care. If you love Persian food--or just love good food--you need to try this place. Easily one of my favorite spots in the city!

This place focuses on Persian dishes, so the menu is a little different, but that's exactly what makes it interesting. We tried a couple of traditional items and everything was full of flavor. The bread was fresh and warm, and the dishes had that rich, comforting feel you don't usually get from typical brunch places. You can really taste the spices and how everything is made with care. The atmosphere is cozy and has a really authentic vibe, but it's not a big space, so it does get busy and there's usually a wait--especially on weekends. Service was friendly and helpful, especially if you're new to Persian food and not sure what to order. Overall, this is a great spot if you want something different from the usual brunch routine. Just come with a little patience and enjoy the experience.

I didn't expect Yonge street to have a happening persian restaurant, or anyplace I'd want to spend…read more3 hours, but we came in, enjoyed the live Persian music playing on a Saturday, and enjoyed a Persian feast. When I eat Persian food I like to think of eating in the way I did at my grandmother's house, with a bunch of different food on the table. I don't think I realized how hard this was to do until I tried to cook it myself, so going to a restaurant like Darvish makes this entirely possible in a way that is too hard at home! The Ghormeh Sabzi is good, and of course a must order, the Fesenjan very flavorful, and though I make mine with duck, that's okay. The kebabs are all good and flavorful, and every table has sumac on it because that's what you need to eat the kebabs! We had some Mast-o-Khyar, shirazi salad, and kashk-e-bademjan as a starter with some great barberi bread. Each appetizer was great, the persian beer with saffron was good, everything came together so well. The three hours flew by as we ate, drank, talked, and enjoyed every dish brought to use. By the end of the meal we were surprised at the time and excited for some tea and saffron ice cream. No Persian doesn't finish a meal with tea, so you must! I cannot wait to come back here, from Tahdig to Ghormeh SAbzi it's a hit, and from a price point it's a really good deal.

The setup is functional and somewhat cozy and seems like they cater mainly to the delivery crowd. Consistent flow of take out with a few people dining in. We shared an appetizer combo. The eggplant dip was very good. Hummus being decent with dolma being an acquired taste I feel. I didn't try the salad. I went for the combo of chicken and lamb kebab. I wish I had looked and chosen the bread and rice option as I can only eat this type of rice so much. The kebabs were very good with good quality meat and letting the meat shine with light seasoning. Service was courteous and they were accommodating as well for a person in a wheelchair. I enjoyed my meal and will return. They are somewhat close by and I do enjoy grilled food.

Access is…read morevery convenient by TTC, with a streetcar stop almost in front of the restaurant; parking is usually not difficult to find on College Street. The decor is charming, with beautiful light fixtures, and Persian tiles and artwork on the walls. Service is friendly. For appetizer, we ordered Zeitoon Parvardeh, prepared Rudbar style: whole green pitted olives, ground walnuts, crushed garlic, pomegranate molasses, sprinkled with mint. It was very tasty, similar in flavor to the one served at Pomegranate, but the whole green olives gave this version a distinctive experience. For main course, our table ordered Dizi, Kabob Barg and Adasi Bushehri. Dizi or 'Abgoosht' is described as one of the most popular dishes in Iran, prepared and served in clay or stone pots called 'Dizi'. It is a stew of lamb shank, lamb rib, chickpeas, white beans, potato, onion, tomato and spices, cooked for over 4 hours. Abgoosht forms a complete 2 course meal: first, the broth is carefully drained from the pot into a soup bowl; the broth is sipped as a soup and often soaked with torn pieces of barbary flatbread in a style called 'tareed'. The meat and the beans are then pounded into a coarse puree, to be scooped up with flatbread, and enjoyed with creamy yogurt and torshi. This dish was delicious; both the broth and the stew were rich and flavorful, making it a delightful hearty meal. Adasi Bushehri is a vegetarian soup-style stew of red lentils, onions, garlic, cumin and tomatoes, drizzled with tamarind or pomegranate molasses; it is served with zereshk polo, spinach borani and salad. It can be made vegan upon request. It is also suitable for people with dietary restrictions that require soft food. This is another lovely flavorful dish, where the drizzled molasses provides a nice contrast to the stew. The only disappointment was the Kabob Barg, which was tender, but dry and flavorless. Highly recommend the Dizi!

Having eleven guest we found the table seating very cramped still to the point that guest were elbowing each other, it would have been nice if the restuarant had another table allocated for us just for more space. I ordered the Dizi (Abgoosht). It came with a soup that was a bit greasy, yogurt, pickled sides and a stewed lamb. It was well cooked but I wish the food was seasoned a bit less. Some of the kabob ordered by another guest made of ground beef was an oversalted hamburger meat in shape of kabob...it was not impressive. With our large party I thought it would be interesting to comment the restaurant automatically applied 15% tip. I would give this another try but perhaps not as a big party. It's also interesting to note none of the servers were not Persian. Salamati!

We peeked inside. It was busy and with quite a few Persians. We decided to try it. I am so glad that we tried it. Everything that we ordered was outstanding. We got the Rayhoon trio sampler, Addas Palo, and lamb shank. The trio sampler was basically 3 different dippings and came with a basket of bread. The owner was very nice. While we were enjoying the food, he walked up and greeted. He explained how we could use the trio sampler to enjoy the entrees which really made it even better. Following the suggestion, I put a little bit of lamb sauce over the rice and put a little bit of yogurt sauce over a small piece of lamb, then ate them all in one spoon.... It was amazing!
