    Mixed Pide
    Warren M.

My friends and I happened upon this place on a late Friday night. There was a steady flow of a variety of customers, which is always a good sign. I ordered a mixed pide having no idea what if was. It took a while to come out, maybe 20 minutes, but this is understandable as every ting was made fresh. The meal was delicious. The bread was warm, a bit flaky, a bit crispy, and a nice chew. The meat and cheese was rich and satisfying. And the side of garlic sauce to dip brought it all together. Finally, the side of vegetables was a perfect palette cleanser 5/5 will return for sure.

Awesome doner spot in Vaughan! The doner itself is huge! They really pack in the toppings and everything is fresh & tasty! Service is prompt. There's also plenty of seating if choosing to dine in.

The food was really good and decently priced. The chicken had lots of flavor and wasn't dry at all! And the vegetables/toppings were super fresh. However, the ordering process was kind of chaotic and unorganized which made the whole experience slightly stressful.

Tried this place for the first time w/ my gf over Labour Day weekend after a fun-filled afternoon session over at Dave and Buster's 10-15 min away. Turkish food is quite similar to lebanese, jordanian, egyptian and greek food in that they are all situated in the middle east (or near it). Immediately upon parking and walking up to the resto, we noticed a ton of ppl dining on the patio. The inside of the resto is quite cozy. It was around 28 celsius outside that day but walking into the resto you'd have thought you just walked into a furnace because the kitchen is literally attached to the indoor dining area so all of the heat from the kitchen basically builds and builds. Temperature aside, the staff are all SUPER nice (It looks like a family business as they were all speaking their native language). We ordered a chicken doner plate and a beef doner plate. Both of them come w/ rice and salad condiments. Both my gf and I preferred the chicken as it was slightly juicier than the beef. The rice was not dry at all and they are really generous w/ the portions (one plate could prolly feed 2 ppl if you have a partner that doesn't eat much). They had the standard garlic sauce, a mild chipotle sauce, a spicy sauce, hummus and my fave was the mango curry sauce which I found to be super unique. When I come back I'm gonna tell them to douse my dish in that stuff. SOOO GOOD. You can get as much sauce and hummus as you like. The meals also come w/ some fresh bread. AYE YO, this bread was no joke! It was on par w/ the bread you get at the Keg. Not even kidding. Crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. Looking back, we could've prolly ordered 1 mix plate (chicken and beef) to share between us instead of ordering 2 plates. I felt like passing out after helping her out on her plate LOL. Amazing turkish food. Will be back in the future!

Self-serving Turkish fast food cuisines. The restaurant is clean and neat. With large seasoned cut meat showcasing at the entrance, the food tends to lean towards the saltier side, might be too much dressing we have added. The vegetable and sides are very fresh and beautiful. Meat and salad plate average spent $20 per person. The desserts on display at the counter are priced at $9.90 for a small slice. Prices may be considered a bit high for a casual eatery with an unfortunate service we experienced. The cashier and the salad bar service tends to be less than pleasant, bordering on rude attitude. However, there is one exception - the gentleman in charge of cutting the meat, who is the only one with a friendly smile and with pleasant gesture interacting with customers.

I've been craving a great Turkish - German styled Döner in some time and this place is about as close as I've had it in Canada. Love the place, love the buns they put it on, super fresh toppings and stellar sauces to go with it. Prices are right too. I truly wish they'd open a location in Brampton. I'd go weekly. It's a bit out of my way now, but I'll do detours. This place is just that good!! And the people running it, wonderful!! The attached pictures represent a meal I had the second time I went, anf the two sandwiches from the first time I went. Wanted to try different flavors and they all stunned!! Loved them!!!

My go to takeout spot This place has became my family's go to takeout spot when we don't feel like to cook. We usually call this place and place a order of champion platter and drive there to pick up around 10-20 minutes later, so there is no delivery fee. The portion is good. The champion platter usually lasts us (2 people) 2 meals.

We have been looking for new Turkish places to try forage while add curved on this one while being in the area. It was a week night and they were busy, take Phys and dune ins. However the ladies who run the show were so calm and courteous. The portion sizes looked big enough to feed the two of us, so we ordered a chicken dinner with only salads and a plate of falafel. The hummus was excellent and the food was fantastic. You can add the hot sauce to spice things up or leave it out is absolutely your choice, either way it's great. Probably the finest falafels I have had till now. Will be back soon to try the pide and rest of the menu.

I'd chanced upon this place and seen it from inside during the pandemic but I had not eaten here. So now with indoor seating available, I decided to try this place. The restaurant has a colourful decor, is chaotic, but with a welcoming informal vibe. It was quite busy on the evening I visited but I was able to find a table. The serving speed is quick. I ordered a chicken shawarma and falafel. The chicken shawarma is delicious. The hummus has a different flavour that most other places, but different in a good way. The chicken is well cooked. The salad tastes fresh. I prefer not eating rice so they replaced the rice with an extra serving of salad. The falafel has a crisp texture and good flavour, I do feel it was slightly over-fried which can be avoided. And the Ayran drink is available as a nice accompaniment. I enjoyed eating here and would visit again.

The carpaccio was fine, pleasant but fairly straightforward, but everything else we ordered was excellent The octopus was tender, and hearty, paired nicely with potatoes, hummus, some greens, and capers. It was well-balanced and satisfying without feeling heavy. The steak came out a perfect medium-rare and juicy. The nut topping on the fish added a really nice crunch, contrasting beautifully with the soft, tender flesh of the fish. And then there was the duck: the clear standout of the night. It was beautifully cooked and seasoned. The fat kept it incredibly juicy without feeling greasy. The charred cabbage on the side added a subtle smokiness that tied everything together perfectly. Every bite honestly made me happier and happier. Getting to the restaurant was a little confusing at first, but once you're there, it's absolutely worth it. A really enjoyable meal overall, and especially memorable for that duck dish. Definitely a place I'd return to.

We ordered the chicken shawarma and the legendary bowl with mixed protein. I dressed my wrap with spicy garlic and it just had a tiny bit of heat and it was perfect. I really enjoyed the fresh saj bread that it's wrapped in. It really sets it apart from all the shawarma places around town. The legendary bowl is also really good with a generous amount of protein and my SO love the roasted cauliflower on top though he says the fries in the bowl is not as good as another shawarma he enjoys downtown and would order the crispy wrap for next time. The space is really on theme and matches the catchphrases from their reels and even the receipt gives you a waiver warning about using ketchup on their shawarma. I love how they have the tablets so you can order and check the offerings to disperse the line and wait. It's not as fast as the usual fast food, shawarma spots but the quality is certainly up there. It doesn't look busy but they have a steady flow of online deliveries/pickups. The only feedback is the receipts seem really long because they include the waiver to not use ketchup in each receipt. Since they ask for your number to order on the tablet, probably just include it the first time. We forgot to order a drink and ordered it separately and it is unnecessary to print another long receipt again for one drink. Lastly a curious question I have is why the name Shelby's? Given the Middle-Eastern food, I wonder why an English-origin name.

You can also order manakeesh (Lebanese flatbread topped with toppings such as cheese, spinach, and za'atar - akin to thin-crust pizza) to be made on site. We opted for the vegetarian mix-and-match plates, which came with either rice or salad, 5 small sides, and 3 falafels. Most of the items were pretty good, my favourites being the arnabeet (cauliflower), eggplant with chickpeas and tomato-based sauce, bamya (okra), and white cannellini beans salad. The warak enab (also called dolma or stuffed grape vine leaves) was flavourless and had too much ratio-to-grape vine leaves ratio (more rice inside that I'd like). The tabbouleh was way too salty. The other dishes were good though. Although the manakeesh was made fresh to order, it came out pretty fast. It was also extremely salty. There were a few small tables by the take-out counter, for those who wish to eat the take-out items on the spot. They packaged all the items very well to avoid leakage.

The first course was Labneh with bread, hummus, & beef tartare. Second course was Lamb pide & pear salad. Third course was grilled branzino, middle eastern fried chicken, black truffle rice, and thrice cooked fries. Then there was dessert which was chocolate mousse cake & baklava. Because of my many food allergies the main server for our table was very attentive & specific in asking me what I wanted as modifications. For example I got a wagyu beef pide instead of the lamb. Every dish was really delicious, presented well & quite filling. I couldn't eat all of the food. Though I tried almost everything. Service: The pacing of the dishes was quite masterful. They really paid attention to when the food was going to come out. As I mentioned above the main server was very attentive to my food allergies. I really appreciated that as some restaurants aren't as attentive. The food was served family style so everyone could take what they wanted from the serving dishes. The dishes were served in little bowls along the tables with each bowl serving about 4 people. We had asked for one long table so it was a little snug. But we made it work. Ambiance: For dinner the lighting of the space is really dim. LOL. I would have appreciated just a little bit more light. The restaurant is in an old building so to use the washroom you had to go down two flights of stairs. The dining area is small also. But it's a pretty space. As mentioned above we asked for one long table to seat 15 people. I was expecting square tables but it was a bunch of small round tables pushed together. So the tables were really crowded with food from all the dishes. But the servers made sure to take empty serving dishes away as soon as possible. The music was a little loud for me so I had to yell to be heard. The place was packed though. Everyone at our table enjoyed the food, the service & atmosphere. The restaurant is close to Roy Thompson Hall & the other theatres nearby so it's a convenient location as well. It's too bad this place is only open for dinner. I would have loved to see how they would operate a lunch time service. In any case, Byblos was amazing. I would come back here again to try other dishes!
