Walked in and decided on the Chicken Doner wrap, and was waiting at the register to order, there 5+ workers looked at me several times, and continued to do there thing, talking to each other and doing whatever. I waved at one and said I was ready to order, and one girl said alright, and continued doing there thing, waited a good 5 minutes for someone to actually take my order... I haven't felt so invisible at a restaurant for a very long time. Anyways - got a combo, and they didn't say anything on where to get a drink, I saw the drink display to the side, so grabbed my can - and one of the workers were like , did you order that? , Um... yes, I ordered a combo, and I'm assuming this is where you grab the drink? - and then she's like oh okay. The wrap itself was okay , however the chicken was a little dry in some bites - fries were unseasoned, so you can figure that out on your own as well. My son loves the Beef Skewer dish from Champion Doner. He will gobble up the beef pieces and fries. They cook the beef in front of you so you know it's fresh and tasty. They marinade the beef so it's nice and tender. The restaurant can be very busy especially over the weekend but if you are patient you can find a seat .it is a casual vibe and very family friendly. Tried this place for the first time w/ my gf over Labour Day weekend after a fun-filled afternoon session over at Dave and Buster's 10-15 min away. Turkish food is quite similar to lebanese, jordanian, egyptian and greek food in that they are all situated in the middle east (or near it). Immediately upon parking and walking up to the resto, we noticed a ton of ppl dining on the patio. The inside of the resto is quite cozy. It was around 28 celsius outside that day but walking into the resto you'd have thought you just walked into a furnace because the kitchen is literally attached to the indoor dining area so all of the heat from the kitchen basically builds and builds. Temperature aside, the staff are all SUPER nice (It looks like a family business as they were all speaking their native language). We ordered a chicken doner plate and a beef doner plate. Both of them come w/ rice and salad condiments. Both my gf and I preferred the chicken as it was slightly juicier than the beef. The rice was not dry at all and they are really generous w/ the portions (one plate could prolly feed 2 ppl if you have a partner that doesn't eat much). They had the standard garlic sauce, a mild chipotle sauce, a spicy sauce, hummus and my fave was the mango curry sauce which I found to be super unique. When I come back I'm gonna tell them to douse my dish in that stuff. SOOO GOOD. You can get as much sauce and hummus as you like. The meals also come w/ some fresh bread. AYE YO, this bread was no joke! It was on par w/ the bread you get at the Keg. Not even kidding. Crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. Looking back, we could've prolly ordered 1 mix plate (chicken and beef) to share between us instead of ordering 2 plates. I felt like passing out after helping her out on her plate LOL. Prices may be considered a bit high for a casual eatery with an unfortunate service we experienced. The cashier and the salad bar service tends to be less than pleasant, bordering on rude attitude. I've been craving a great Turkish - German styled Döner in some time and this place is about as close as I've had it in Canada. Love the place, love the buns they put it on, super fresh toppings and stellar sauces to go with it. Prices are right too. I truly wish they'd open a location in Brampton. I'd go weekly. My memory bank told me that their food was ok, but was not as good as their Yelp rating suggested. However, I've held off reviewing them, in hopes of giving them a second chance. After years of pondering and the long awaited second visit, I've decided that I did not jump to conclusions in the first go around. The chicken doner box with fries was solid if not spectacular. The chicken had taste but not super flavourful. I thought the sauce was decent, but also lacked some spunk. They could do one of the following to spice things up: make it more garlicky, add more acidity, give it some kick. The sauce went ok with the chicken, but did not complement the fries very well. I had the chicken shawarma. This tasted nothing like a chicken shawarma. And on top of this I think they had some kind of mayonnaise sauce in it. Slightly sweet. And the tahini did not taste like tahini and the garlic sauce was not traditional garlic sauce. This might be a nice wrap for white people, but for people who really know what the dish should taste like, this did not taste like it. Further it's not called chicken shawarma here. We have been looking for new Turkish places to try forage while add curved on this one while being in the area. It was a week night and they were busy, take Phys and dune ins. However the ladies who run the show were so calm and courteous. The portion sizes looked big enough to feed the two of us, so we ordered a chicken dinner with only salads and a plate of falafel. The hummus was excellent and the food was fantastic. You can add the hot sauce to spice things up or leave it out is absolutely your choice, either way it's great. The restaurant has a colourful decor, is chaotic, but with a welcoming informal vibe. It was quite busy on the evening I visited but I was able to find a table. The serving speed is quick. I ordered a chicken shawarma and falafel. The chicken shawarma is delicious. The hummus has a different flavour that most other places, but different in a good way. The chicken is well cooked. The salad tastes fresh. I prefer not eating rice so they replaced the rice with an extra serving of salad. The falafel has a crisp texture and good flavour, I do feel it was slightly over-fried which can be avoided. And the Ayran drink is available as a nice accompaniment. Just ordered for the first time through a delivery provider, the food comes nicely packaged, match to order, however, the plate only has protein and starch, it's missing the usual garnish, a little side of veggies to mix things up..the fries seemed like it just came out of the freezer straight to the fryer, they could really pump-up their french fries game! Service is quick. This place is a definite recommendation for late night eats. The fresh Ekmek (their Fresh Homemade Bread) is delicious, warm, fluffy and well charred. I'm not a fan of their Pides, I find them very bland. Their beef doner box is worth the price in quantity if your looking for something filling and cheap. The beef is overly cooked and very oily. The day we came by for late lunch, it was all ladies working and they did a great job. The portion sizes here are monstrous! Very generous and no limitation on the amount of garlic sauce or salad when you request it. The food was pretty good - I will say the shish tawouk, chicken skewer, they gave it 15 minutes to cook. As I am pregnant I try to eat things well done just in case, I found the chicken to be slightly undercooked. Just to be cautious, next time I would order the chicken doner instead of the skewer. I've tried about 4 different places serving authentic Turkish Doner (Turkish version of Shawarma) and Turkish cuisine and Champion is my latest find. So far Champion tops all others in service, food quality and value! The combo package that comes with kebabs, doner and the Turkish thin bread pizza is very good and lets you try different dishes in one shot. Portions are decent. Flavours are just right. Iskander kebob was also great, it's always been an interesting dish to me and Champion's version did not disappoint. The place seems clean. It's not the healthiest food, unless you go for falafels, but it does the job in getting you from "hungry / possibly hangry" to "full". I wish their chicken was juicer though. Champion Doner is a hidden gem located right in the corner in the plaza on the Northeast corner of Jane and Major Mackenzie. Stopped in to grab take out and it definitely did not disappoint. Both the chicken and beef that were on the spits looked great and perhaps I should of got a mixed doner plate but decided on the beef plate. I decided to get it with rice and salad and it was excellent . I got the beef topped off with their spicy and garlic sauces creating a fantastic explosion of flavour. The place was very clean and the staff was very friendly and appeared like a well oiled machine. The interior was quite nice and is also a nice place to sit and have lunch or dinner.
