Chicken platter deliciousness
Rochelle G.

Like 7 stars out of 5. I ordered the chicken platter with low expectations. My experience is that a chicken platter is a chicken platter and there's nothing special or unique about any of them. Well, NOT HERE! First of all, the serving is HUGE and it's probably a testament to the restaurant that my husband said to me 'Wow, there's no way you're ever eating all of that' and that I, in fact, did. And the next day, I did it all over again because that's how good it was. The meat is tender, the mix of ingredients (and there are a lot) on the plate is delicious, and the whatever cream they have on the plate is the icing on the ... er, platter as it were. Where's my Kleenex, I'm salivating just thinking about it...

The restaurant as seen from St. Clair at Vaughan.

My 1st review of June is not even in my country, the US. It was a year ago today, June 1, we left…read morefor our Niagara Falls/Toronto trip. This continues the 2025 alphabet series, C is for Cafe Landwer. On Tuesday, 6/3/25, we went to St. Lawrence Market; see my B is for Buster Sea Cove. Seems like we happened to go alphabetical for lunch/brunch as the next day Wed., 6/4/25. This place had good reviews. So, we got on TTC to Osgoode station and was a very close walk. It said established in 1919, so we thought it's a good sign it's been in business over a century; although not this location specifically. Their history in the 20th century was that they started in Berlin, Germany in 1919, but they were a Jewish family who ended up immgrating to Israel in 1933, opening their store there, and expanded locations throughout Israel. Their history in Toronto & North America (including some in the US) is much more recent since opening in 2017. Unfortunately, my closest is New York City; none in Maryland or DC area. This location is in busy downtown Toronto. We sat outside on their big patio area as the weather was warm and could enjoy the view of the buildings, people, cars, etc. Server was friendly answering our questions. I ended up getting an egg benedict with salmon in a croissant. It was creative and delicious take on egg benedict. The only issue was it was messy to eat in the croissant, but I didn't care as it was so delicious. My girlfriend got a Belgian waffle with blueberries, whipped cream, etc. It was unique and very good & sweet too as I tried a bite. Overall, this was a 5-star experience with great food, service, & atmosphere.

We sat for a while and no one took attention (we were outside and they were busy but no excuse for them -- they should do better). We had folks come in and out and were somewhat nonchalant and not attentive. Food: This was the great part of the experience. - Berries and Granola with Greek Yogurt: My brother in law got this an he devoured it and said it was great. - Farmers Breakfast: My wife got this and she LOVED it. She went back to get their Halwah Latte (which she said was just OK) - Egg white Omlette Skillet: I customized my food and it was good -- for reference I've had better only because the cheese was feta and it was unclear that this was the only option as I don't love feta. Also I'm pretty sure while I asked for egg whites there was normal egg (i.e., eggs). If you order egg white make sure the server hears you. They screwed this up for me. This is why I'm giving it three stars -- I could have made a stink but didn't think it was necessary to do so. All in all -- I'd recommend this spot to folks but don't go there thinking the service will be great.

I'd heard great things about Milos -- the food, the architecture, the fresh seafood display. Let's…read morestart with what worked. The four-course Sunday Family menu seemed like a great intro, especially after a lot of travel. We were celebrating my wife's birthday with another couple and added the Milos Special and extra Santorini Fava. Highlights: crisp, well-seasoned eggplant and zucchini from the Milos Special, and sublime grilled octopus -- charred outside, tender inside. The lamb chops were delicious, though juices from the steamed veg made the fries soggy. Service is where it fell apart. No one explained that the Santorini Fava was a puree, not whole beans -- tasty, but clearly meant as a dip we never got instructions for. I used it on my lamb instead. At the end of the meal, a passing server (not our actual waiter, who'd vanished) told us the set menu didn't include dessert. We believed them. Then servers brought out one slice of birthday cake with a candle, a great gesture but kind of odd for us all to sit around with this one slice. My wife asked for a few more forks so we could pretend we were eating at the trough, so befitting for this calibre of restaurant right? Our waiter reappeared with a table service à la carte dessert selection we weren't interested in. Only later, at home, did we learn the set menu actually included dessert -- karydopita or seasonal fruit. Another service disappointment that sours one's taste. The restaurant wasn't busy, yet our waiter disappeared repeatedly. What was with that? We looked, he wasn't serving others. No surprise there's no Michelin star or Bib Gourmand here. The food was mostly excellent, but the service was unacceptable for this tier. We won't return, and we'll warn friends off. Management should follow up with our waiter, Margelo, to see if this was a one-off.

What I love the most about this place is the speed at which the food is served. This is a well oiled, fast paced, lunch machined capable of churning Shawarmas at incredible speeds. Honestly, I'm impressed every time I visit. Aside from the speed, price also plays a role. I generally settle on the beef and chicken mixed plate, and considering the price I find this combo hard to beat elsewhere. As far as quality goes, the food is great but it is fast food, so don't expect a Michelin-star restaurant. Overall, the quality is comparable to other take out shawarma restaurants you'd find in Toronto.

For a Mediterranean chain the food is good, and for the area gets the job done. Would recommend.

Overall the food was fine, but the price is a bit high for what you get. For $13-15, you get a skewer of meat (like chicken, veal, koobideh) which comes with rice and a roasted tomato. Unfortunately, they don't allow you to switch your carbs to a salad, thus forcing you to pay an additional $3, for a salad and yogurt. That works out to be almost $20 with a soda... a bit pricey given this is more of a take-out fast food joint. The food is alright. Pretty average, typical Persian food. The skewers are all quite fresh, tomatoes are BBQ'd fresh. Your rice and meat dishes come with a bit of butter for your to add to your meal too. Also... the amount of rice they give is HYYUUGGGEE. If you're hungry, this is perf for you! Although this place seems mostly to be a takeout joint, they do have a couple tables and some bar chairs available if you'd like to sit in.
