I've been to a handful of Osmow's. They are either close to my workplace or in Markham. The first Osmow's that opened in Markham is on Woodbine Avenue, just north of highway 7. My first experience wasn't the best. The business made things better when I went back a second time, but it does take a bad first experience to deter me from being a return customer. I have been driving along Markham Road (highway 48) weekly. I flagged getting takeout for dinner here a couple of Wednesdays ago. After getting groceries in Whitchurch-Stouffville, I ordered food from this Osmow's through my Uber Eats app. I got mixed proteins (chicken and beef shawarma) on fattoush salad, with garlic sauce and tahini. I tend to like anything on salad in general, but I crave salad a lot these days. My order was estimated to be ready in 25 minutes. I knew that I would arrive early with my lead foot, so I stopped by Chatime nearby to pick up some bubble tea. Osmow's is steps away from Firehouse Subs. I backed into a spot in front of Osmow's main entrance and walked in. It is strictly takeout from this eatery. All tables and chairs are stacked away in a small corner of the store. I had a nice man help me. I showed him my Uber Eats order number at the counter. He fetched my order that was in a plastic bag. I thanked him and headed out the door. When I got home, I put away my groceries and then had dinner. I like that the container keeping my food safe was compostable. I also got cutlery and napkins in my plastic bag. My mix proteins on salad was yummy. I loved the morsels of tender chicken and beef shawarma. The garlic sauce and tahini were full of flavour. I went with no spice. At Osmow's, it can get super spicy if you go hot. The fattoush salad was fresh. The iceberg lettuce was crispy even with the sauces and proteins on top. I enjoyed the ripe tomatoes, onions, green peppers, and cucumbers in this salad. I did ask that the crispy pita croutons be held. They were. Yay! I devoured my meal. It was so good. My tummy and I were happy. I have found an Osmow's location in Markham that I like. I look forward to trying more food items off the menu. I am eyeing the lamb salad next. (205) read more

Noticing this chain everywhere now and craving another round. Code: Rocks means rice Stix means fries Philly veg platter (portobello mushrooms) can take 20 minutes but it's worth it! So flavourful, my meat eating friends all agreed it was worth ordering . Next time I will remember to order ahead for this one. Beyond meat platter is just ok to not gonna order it again. So if you are not a fan of Beyond Meat, then this will taste the same on rice with sauce, and it's still dry Chicken Schwarma platter is amazing, kids loved it and wanted it again this week. Lamb wrap is a flavour bomb, although only half got eaten before falling into a food coma. Salads are missing flavour, just white vinegar taste, go for the Caesar next time? Osmow's has been popping up everywhere and one of them finally popped up in my neighbourhood. Since I arrived around 12:15 pm, the meat grilling on the vertical spit just looks impressive! Since everyone recommending Chicken on the Rock, I decided to just follow their advice. And of course Extra Hot for me. A large is good enough to feed 2 of us as a light lunch. I like the bounciness of the rice (rock). The chicken is a little dry but since it was drowned in sauce, it really not much an issue. I have been to Osmow's couple times now and I have only ordered Chicken on the rock. It is just too good that I don't want to try other dishes. I used to order medium size and the portion was huge. Lots of rice at the bottom covered by chicken meat. I also love their white sauce on top. It is a dish that once I start eating and I can not stop until I get full. One thing to be careful for who could not have spicy food is what they called "mild" means few drops of chilly sauce and it is still spicy. read more

tried the osmows shawarma poutine and it is one of the greatest things I've ever eaten. it is basically osmows fries topped with gravy and chicken shawarma on top + the osmows sauce. However, the flavors all blend and go very well together and you get the best of both worlds. The fries are crunchy, the gravy is tasty, and the shawarma was delicious. Maybe I've been spoiled by the Lazeez (Osmow's sister chain) locations and other shawarma joints I used to frequent in Waterloo, but the food here just did not live up to my expectations. I came here recently to pick up a large Chicken on the Rocks to try with my family since I always raved about the equivalent order at Lazeez. Service was efficient and there was barely a wait after I placed my order. The chicken quality wasn't the best (found some weirdly textured pieces that I don't know how to properly describe), which really put me off. The chicken was also too dry for the garlic sauce to save. Taste was OK at best. Probably won't be coming back for their plates, but maybe I'll try a wrap in the future. read more

Maybe it was because it was the chain I recognized and their portions are decent, but if I learned anything from the branch in Ottawa it's that the quality of food is lacking. It was my first time trying Osmow's. It's on the left hand side of Main Street Rd if you are coming from the North, or your right hand side if you're coming down South from Stoufville. It is located within a large plaza (the one with Home Depot) with plenty of free parking. This entire area has many food options but all in which were not compelling enough for me to return constantly despite being located so close to my home. Upon entering, I would not have imagined Osmow's to be anything but a quick take out place. There isn't a lot of cleanliness as tables/floors aren't being cleaned upon people leaving and the entire atmosphere is not entirely inviting (decor, layout and furniture can definitely use work). I've heard plenty of good things about Osmow's which is why I decided to come here to grab a quick bite before working at Coffee Culture next door. Service is friendly and during meal times, the place gets busy with a crowd. I got chicken on the rocks medium to share with my brother as per his recommendation and we got a tiny bit of hot sauce. Initially, I wanted more hot sauce but my brother stopped me and I am SO GLAD he did. Although I love spicy foods, I do not enjoy 'hot' foods. It did not provide the savory taste that I craved and it gave me more of a burning sensation so I tried avoiding eating the parts that had the hot sauce. I already knew that this was a heavy meal which is why we decide to share it in the first place. However, I did not expect this to be only rice + sauce + meat. Something was missing. There wasn't any fresh tasting vegetables to offset the heaviness of the sauce, chicken and rice. I would've gladly added lettuce if I knew this was the case. I don't think I would ever just choose to eat the chicken/beef on the rocks again if it is without any sort of vegetables. The white sauce, I believe, consists greek yogurt, garlic, dill, mayo and was very delicious with the cooked to order chicken shwarma. They are constantly preparing the meats so there isn't a long wait. I went during night time as did many others and I waited about 10 minutes to receive my order. If I come back, I would give the wraps a try. The chicken on the rocks is too heavy for me and it doesn't sit too well. DINNER This place is a hard pass. Feel like a heel for rating low these days esp. during the pandemic, but a yelpers job is to not sugar coat and to purvey their true experiences. Employees are not wearing any PPE while behind the counter except for rubber gloves which were probably not changed out all day by the look of things. Cashier and food handler are the same person. Before heading to Osmow's, I heard so many amazing reviews about this place. When I say "so many", I mean like everyday, I'd see a snap story of someone having Osmow's or raving about it. Me being the foodie I am, I just couldn't wait to try it for myself! Long story short, I was left feeling a little disappointed. I ordered the chicken on the rocks in medium and the portions were humongous! The dish itself is really nothing special. It's literally plain rice, some chicken and "special sauce". The sauce tastes pretty creamy, and reminds me of the white greek sauce. You can also customize the spice level! I got mild but it was still pretty spicy for me. Overall, the portions are really big! Decided to try osmows' as it was nearby and one of the many locations. The flavours were quite good. I got the osmows' mixed grill. It comes with shawarma (chicken and beef), lamb kofta, and chicken kebab for $18.99. It also comes with 1 choice of salad. I decided fattoush salad. Wait was 20 mins for the meal. Restaurant was quite large. Not busy for late lunch time dine ins. Lots of take out orders though. Meats unfortunately was slightly dry but had good flavours and spice. Rice was good and moist. Garlic and hot sauce were good additions to the meats. Overall, Their whole menu is kinda pricey. But all places with similar style foods cost the same. read more

Went on the Sunday afternoon of their opening weekend. It was quite busy, but our orders were taken quickly and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. I got the large chicken on rocks (rice) with the suicide level of spice (I hate my stomach lining) and the flavour and taste was consistent with all other Osmow's locations I've been to. If anything, the rice was fresher and more flavourful than other locations, but I just wish there was more of it. This Osmow's has just opened and it's already serving the small/stingy portion sizes of rice which caused me to stop going to other Osmow's locations. When I pay $12 for a Large I really do expect a larger portion, but the amount of rice barely filled the lower half of the container and that was disappointing. I will give them the benefit of doubt that perhaps they were busier than they expected for their opening weekend and this caused them to have to "ration" the rice to make sure they filled alll orders quickly. I'll be back to give it another try eventually, and hopefully will report back happily! read more

Chicken Shawarma ($6.99 for regular) - The wrap was okay nothing special. Was stuffed with veggies which I liked but it lacked sauce which was surprising cause that NEVER happens for any shawarma that I've ever had, not to mention how much sauce they add on their "chicken on the rocks" dish. Food is very mediocre, I've had better elsewhere and don't think I'd be coming back. Glad this location opened close to ours. We got takeout for two. The portions are huge and we weren't able to finish it. The food was good as predicted. Meat and rice tasted fresh. In my search for a decent and local falafel, I decided to try this place. I had already determined that their meat didn't look amazing, but perhaps they would do a decent falafel? The only thing remarkable about this restaurant is the friendly service. The shop itself looks very run down (even though it is brand new). The falafel wrap was just very meh. They have so many sauces but the falafel only comes with a garlic sauce (not enough) and hot sauce (too much - if I ask for medium, it should be medium! If your hot sauce is that hot, you need to adjust the amounts so that medium =/= triple fire). Idk. So many better places. read more

I have always been a fan of osmows, and was very excited to see that a new location opened up just down the street from me. My go to is always chicken on the rocks, which I had my last time here as well, and I got the "hot" spice level. Now I'm not sure if their spice level is customized based on the region they're in (I'm generalizing, but people in Scarborough may be better at handling spice than north Markham), but I've had the "hot" in Scarborough and have struggled, whereas I had it in Markham and I was like, uh is this ketchup? I'm exaggerating, but definitely not as spicy which was interesting because I expect chains to maintain a level of uniformity. Another thing I found strange was that I wanted to use my Amex to pay and was told they would charge me $1 extra to do that. Honestly, I have a special place in my heart for chicken on the rocks from osmows and this meal did not disappoint at all. You can eat there as well but it's more of a take-out place since they serve it in the styrofoam box. I went here on a weekend night and it wasn't busy at all. Ordered the regular chicken on the stix and the portion was pretty big. I thought the sauce was gonna be too much but it was good for the fries. I got medium spicy (which is about 2-3 lines) and it was a bit too spicy for me but still manageable. The person in front of me ordered extra spicy which is crazy! The chicken was a LITTLE BIT dry but the flavour made up for it. Prices are okay, my order, which is one of the cheaper options on the menu, came up to around $12. Saw this place newly opened last time with lots of people. We got there close to 9pm and there are still many people so thinking this place should be good. Ordered a chicken shawarma with rice and Philly cheese steak. First the food takes really long and the person at the register placing the order not very good at explaining. It's more like he has a script that he just read it from there. Anyways, it took more than 30mins for the food and by the time when I start eating at home, then I just realized they forgot about the sauce on my chicken shawarma. So now I got chicken and rice that are dry and no taste and I ended up putting chilli sauce instead. The Philly cheese steak is tasty just like the other Philly cheese steak sandwich, but the pita bread isn't soft and the steak is tough. Had some hard time biting it. Seriously, this franchise is popping up everywhere across the GTA and this one here in Markham, while a little tricky to get to with having to turn into the plaza and exit via the home depot, is worth the time to try and get to. Lots of selections and usually long wait times and line ups because everything is made to order. They have two spits of Chicken and Beef shawarma going but can do other items like grilled chicken and other stuff like that. You can order something "on the rocks" which is over rice or "half and half" which is half rice and half french fries. I tend to order a medium on the rocks (beef or chicken) because it's very filling. Also they use a white cream sauce that is very savoury and delicious. The hot sauce is super spicy. Really solid fast food if you're in search of some fresh and quality Mediterranean food! Whether you have it with fries or with rice, both bases are Good! The rice was soft and flavourful on its own, and the fries were fried just right. The chicken shawarma is cooked fresh per order and they're constantly preparing it so there's no long wait. My only critique is that the platters come heavily dressed; a lot of garlic and spicy sauce that partially overwhelms the flavours of everything else. The worst Osmows I've ever visited. We've been a regular customer for over 4 years, and we've recommended the Military Trail location to dozens of people. We had high expectations for this new location and was incredibly let down. The portion of our meat wouldn't even fill a small container and this costed us $15! They skimp out on your meat and drench the container in sauce so you don't see the gaps in between. The service wasn't great either. They're extremely rude and give preference to people they know. This is more of a 3.5. The food is really good here, I've tried the chicken platter as well as chicken on the rocks. The sauces really elevate the meat and the dish. Now if you want something more balanced, you can get their daily special which comes with medium chicken on the rocks and a small garden salad. I do understand this is a pretty heavy meal and isn't for everyone, but it is definitely a solid choice for lunch, dinner or midnight snack. It was so heavy that I actually didn't feel great after eating a large. I felt sluggish cause of all that sauce LOL, but it was definitely delicious. All my friends mentioned GREAT things about it and though it was very good mediterranean food, it did make my friend and I quite nauseous.
