Fight club: The first rule about fight club: you don't talk about fight club.
Megan L.

I was really sad when I found out that my favourite Raymerville Deli and Bakery closed down after 35 years. It was a high school favourite back in the day, so off I went to go find another deli for my sandwich cravings. This shop popped up on Yelp and it was Italian as well so I had to go try. I ordered the Fight Club, Homemade roast beef, and the Falafel (vegan). They don't exactly tell you the ingredients of the Fight club, but upon eating it, it looked like a mixture of prosciutto, black forest ham and another type of ham? (not sure). All the sandwiches were delicious with the option of adding red peppers, and other condiments! You are also able to pick the type of bread you want (from rolls to pizza shaped to bagels) Simple and lots of meat for the price ($7.99). I just wish they had a little bit more options for types of deli meat, but I will return again for my fill.

My vegan buddy has been raving for months over the falafel sandwiches served at Mother's deli so I finally swung by one afternoon. Ted, the owner of the deli is a really friendly guy who greeted us with a warm smile as soon as we came in. I waited about ten minutes for the falafel sandwich as the falafel was being made fresh. My buddy was right, the sandwich was delicious. The spices blended really well the toppings and the sauce that Ted added. I was still a little hungry so Ted suggested I try one of the beef patties, which to my surprise was larger than both my hands and only $2. It was a little spicy, but Mother's deli is definitely my new go to place for falafels and beef patties.

Went in for the beef patties that were sold out at 11:45am. Ugh! I went for the veal sandwich & 6.50 and the sausage roll $2.50. The veal was dry but the rest of the sandwich was great with grilled veggies and lots of tomato sauce. The sausage roll was fantastic, especially if you like sausage rolls. Service was pretty friendly. Would go back and try the roast beef and beef patty!

Hands down legit roast beef sandwich!! Ted is super friendly and eager talk, prices are fair! This place has foodie written all over it! Tee tells me they are know for their roast beef sandwich, I saw the massive chunk of roast roast, home cooked, medium to medium raw, and Ted was feeding through a Deli slicing machine. The roast beef is legit, no preservatives, home cooked roast beef. $6.50 plus Tax.

Wonderful bakery with delicious sandwiches! Mother's bakery is small local bakery located along Main Street which has an easy to find red sign. As you go in, you will be greeted with a tasty dessert case with about 4-5 tables for seating. But the back is where the magic happens! At the rear, you will find loaves of fresh baked bread, buns and bagels along with a deli counter. They have a standard daily menu with funky names for sandwiches along with the daily specials on a chalk board. To start, you grab some tongs and pick your bun, next up decide on your meat, cheese and topping. They also have a small prepared salad area to go with your sandwich. I ordered the chicken parmigiana and a falafel pita. First up, the falafel was nice and crunchy in a soft pita - great taste at a a great price. But the winner is the chicken parmigiana - inside I had 2 big slices of crispy breaded chicken layered with a sweet tomatoes sauce and sweet peppers. The bread was soft and chewy which was perfect to absorb the sauce - overall an excellent lunch! I also noticed they have a variety of cold and frozen entrees like stuffed peppers, eggplant parmigiana, soups and etc. I will definitely come back to try others. Great place for lunch!

Really wonderful deli experience. Not pretentious. Sandwich was great. Fresh bread, freshly sliced meat, veggies were crisp. They sell a good mix of stuff - prepared stuffed peppers, stuffed cabbages, lasagna, Jamaican patties. Great selection. Friendly owner. Clean. ....this is a happy place.

It's been around that long because the food and the prices are that good. I've stopped by here multiple times and always get the Old Fashioned Center Street Special on rye, medium (not lean) with extra meat. I've never been disappointed with this deli, the food is always delicious and tasty, the cuts of meat are fantastic, thick and juicy, and the fries are golden and crisp. It's a good deal for a good portion of food. The service is always friendly, with servers who are attentive, chatty and friendly. My only comment would be that because this Deli has been around for so long (as have I), I remember when I was little and the paint was fresh. But now it's been worn down and it's noticeable from the doorways to the chairs and tables. This staple of Thornhill is still delivering great food, but the restaurant itself needs some love and upkeep. A fresh coat of paint will go a long way. Even the washrooms (while very clean) have a smell to them. I believe it's time to give Centre Street Deli some love and freshen it up a bit for the younger generation.

It was prepared with just enough mustard (you can ask for extra if you want) and stacked high on rye bread. The sandwich exceeded my expectations. When ordering, the staff were very helpful and happily explained the sandwich options and combos. They suggested choosing medium fat for their Montreal smoked meat for first-timers (which I was), so that's what I ordered. Ordering was fast and efficient, though the restaurant is small, with only two sets of tables and counter seating around the perimeter. When we arrived around 1:20 PM on a Sunday, all table seating was occupied, with only a few stools available at one of the counters. After we took our seats, our order was ready within a few minutes. We ordered three Smoked Meat Combos, which included the Montreal smoked meat sandwich, fries (very good--crispy, hot, and fresh), a small container of coleslaw, and a pickle. Would I return? Yes, if I were in the area again. I'm from Mississauga, so it's a bit of a trek. If SumiLicious opened another location in Mississauga, I'd be a regular customer.

But this place has perfected it! Who knew perfectly cooked smoked meat in between slices of untoasted rye bread and a small amount of mustard would be such a dreamy combination. Montreal smoked sandwiches can be found in our very own backyard here at Sumilicious. The poutine is everything you want it to be! Was so impressed with the place, we decided to order a whole turkey for thanksgiving..it was alright, don't think we will be doing that again though. You pay by the pound after the meat has been cooked so it shrinks in size but still ends up being quite expensive. But I will stay the staff care so much about their products. They take great pride in what they make from the smoked meat to the turkey. Upon picking up the turkey, took the time to give me specific care instructions on how to store and reheat the bird. Come check out Sumilicious.

The woman behind the meat counter was wearing a mask, but it was useless, as her nose wasn't covered. I turned to my right, and a barefaced man one metre from me was looking at meats. I mentioned the face mask bylaw to him. He ignored me, as did staff. At checkout, the woman on cash wore a mask, but her nose was fully exposed. I asked her to tell the manager that I won't be shopping there any more and the reason for my decision. I didn't feel safe. We're in a pandemic. And no one seemed to care.

For some of the chocolates, crakers, etc. that I looked at it was difficult to discern what it was or tasted like. Many of the junk foods had pictures, but as they deal largely with imported European foods, the packages don't always have English on them - they often do, but not always. I settled on some crackers that said graham on them, but afterwards when I opened them up they didn't look or taste anything like our traditional western graham crackers. They didn't taste bad, but I include this point to signify the usefulness of English on the packages. I also purchased 200g of cheese. I couldn't read the languague on any of the cheeses so I asked a lady to pair a good cheese with my crackers... yes, I asked for a good cheese pairing with my graham crackers. I got some sheepish looks but given my question I think it was fair. I got 200g of a mild cheese and it tasted pretty good. I didn't recognize any cuts of meats that were chicken or turkey and so I didn't explore any of those offerings. It seemed like this was the busiest part of the store. If you don't speak the language many of the ladies use (I didn't recognize it) they do speak English and are helpful. I left with my cheese, graham crackers, some Sesame Snaps candy and the cost was a little over $8. Not bad considering 2 of the 3 items bought were imported.

My friends and I stopped by for some dinner after a saturday badminton session…read more We tried a bunch of large subs: firehouse captain club sub, smokehouse beef & cheddar brisket, brisket hat trick. I was blown away by the quality of the subs. WOW. Every sub was PACKED to the brim w/ goodies. No skimping out on ingredients. Tons of meat, tons of veggies, tons of sauce. For the hot subs, the meat was sooooo soft and easy to swallow. I had a bite of my friends' subs and they were all super delicious. The chicken in the captains club was so juicy. The beef in the smokehouse sub was melt in the mouth. The bread on all subs was toasted. They also have one of those nice machines w/ tons of different soda options to choose from (peach mello yellow zero SUPER UNDERRATED). Shoutout to Donte who helped me with my order as a first-timer to this store! Love that I was able to stack a bunch of extra add-ons for no additional charge. Also loved that every sub came w/ a dill pickle on the side (the pickles were delicious too). I was tempted to upgrade my bun to garlic bread but that'll be for another visit. In terms of price, it is premiumly priced at around $20-25 per sub which is expensive tbh. Does the quality justify that price tag? I would actually have to say yea it does! SOOOOO much meat packed into every sub. AND the employees don't treat you like dirt (*cough cough* Jersey Mike's, Subway and Mr. Sub I'm looking at you guys). Sooo jelly that there isn't a location closer to me at all but I signed up for the rewards program right away. MY GOD. Best subs I've had in recent memory.

There are not too many places in Markham that you can pick up a variety of feta cheeses and Greek products and if you do, they are not stocked regularly or fresh. We picked up 2 packs of super delish Kourabiedes that just melt in your mouth! Their baked goods are from Serano Bakery (one of my fav and one of the best in Greek town!). They have brought the best of Greece to this hidden gem in Markham and as foodie of everything Mediterranean and Middle Eastern, i am in heaven! They are located in a plaza (facing) Highway 7 at Albert Street. There is no street access from Highway 7.
