Pretty big location with lots of seating. Service was quick and friendly. Had the Chaplee and Saltani Kabob Dinner and they were full of flavour and portion size was big too.

I ordered tandoori chicken kebob and it was so good. The chicken is juicy and not too spicy. The chai tea has 3 flavours and I loved the chai tea masala. Large portion servings and reasonable price.

I haven't been here in almost 4 years that I forgot exactly how good it was. I got the Sultani kabob and honestly it was so good. That first scoop of rice was such a treat for my taste buds. The rice was super aromatic AND delicious. I could just keep eating it!! The kabob was very tender. It tasted well with the white sauce they handed out. That's another thing -- the white sauce (I think it's garlic?) was amazing!! The red sauce was also good, it provided a tangy taste with a hint of spice, however it was the white sauce that blew me away. The value for price is spectacular. We had two people share this one dish because the portions were super big. The dish cost us around $15+tax which is pretty reasonable. The restaurant is pretty spacious and good for big groups. They also have outdoor seating. The system is cafeteria style so you go up and order then sit down till they call your number and then you head to the front to pick up your food. Overall, I'm so amazed by the restaurant and I can't wait to go back again soon.

2019-12-24. Bamiyan Kabob. Markham, ON. Simplicity is often the recipe for success. Bamiyan has a short listed menu and is my go to place for middle eastern kabobs. Bamiyan is a cafeteria style establishment. You place your order at the counter then go find seating and listen for your number. You also have to retrieve the food yourself once it's ready. This location is in a plaza and has a sizable seating area with capacity for about 120. Outside there is plenty of free parking but the outdoor patio is closed for the winter season. The patio has seating for an additional 30 or so. While there are several locations, I don't think it's a franchise. Tonight, we were looking for a bite to tie us over until dinner with the family, so we ordered 2 dinners for the four of us. Not having had it in a while, I had to go with my favourites, I ordered a kofta dinner and a Sultani (barg and kofta). To drink I ordered a Mango smoothie and some sodas. Lastly, for dessert, we had a frozen milk to share. The dinners come with rice, salad, and bread. The Kofta dinner includes a skewer of beef and lamb mix, grilled over an open flame. The meat is cut in half so that it fits on the plate. The barg is a skewer of tenderloin chunks and the Kofta is a mix of beef and lamb. All meats come thoroughly cooked, and are seasoned with their special blend of spices. While the spices won't knock your socks off, they pleasant to the taste buds. There is a super slight hint of spiciness in the Kofta, so beware if you have little ones, or big ones, that can't handle spice at all. The frozen milk was new to me, so I had to try it. Three small scoops of sweetened frozen milk, topped with cream, and what can only be the complex spice cardamom. It was dry, gingery, and slightly bitter. Despite it being the third most expensive spice in the world (next to saffron and more recently vanilla), I don't care much for the flavour it adds. The salad is more a westernized thing and is just iceberg with diced tomatoes, onions, and spices. The rice is basmati, and the bread is Afghani naan. There's not much to say about these, the rice is steamed and the bread is baked. The naan is more dense than Indian naan. Like I said from the onset, it's simple food, and it's absolutely delicious! I have yet to be disappointed at any of their locations. 4 stars overall. If You would like to experience more, come dine-with-me.yelp.com I'd love to have your company... Bon Appétit!

    Chicken kebob and Greek salad

recently visited vamuan kebob exprience. The service requires you to pay upfront in cash, wait for your food, and then clean up after yourself, which was not clearly communicated. I ordered a Greek salad with chicken kebab for 16 CAD, expecting a fulfilling meal. Unfortunately, the meal fell short in both quality and portion size. Worse, I bit into an olive with a hidden seed in my salad, initially fearing a broken tooth; I'm still concerned it might be fractured. The decor was uninviting, with stark lighting and dirty chairs, detracting from the dining atmosphere. Based on my experience, especially considering the risk of dental injury from the meal, I recommend exploring other dining options."

Came here for dinner on a Friday night. Originally we came here to dine in but upon walking into the store it was really hot inside. There definitely was no AC! And Friday was hot but not burning so I can't imagine how bad it'll be if it was hotter. So we decided to get take out. The employees were very nice and helpful. We ended up ordering Sultani kabob and tandoori chicken dinner. The food took about 10 mins. The portions are big. Both items came up to $33. MAKE SURE TO ASK FOR THE WHITE SAUCE! It's what makes the meal! Unfortunately for this location they don't automatically give them. I was looking forward to having my tandoori chicken as I haven't had it in awhile. And since the last time I remembered it to be quite good. But when I finally got to try it, it was only mediocre. It was a little bland for me. From the rice to the chicken. I think at other locations they have the salad in a separate container but for this location the salad was in the same and it made it soggy. The sultani was a little dry in my opinion. One of the naan was hard and not soft and fluffy which was disappointing. Overall the food was ok. If I ever crave for it I'll probably go to another location.

The chicken is so tender here! I have gone a few times here and have tried the chicken breast, tandoori and tikka kabob meals. The meat is beautifully done and tastes delicious. The dinner comes with salad and rice - sometimes the rice is fluffy and other times a little more dry but still good. The salad as you can expect is iceberg lettuce but it comes with a little tomato salsa too. The wrap is pretty good too and filling! You will definitely be full after this. $15 for a dinner meal and $8 for a wrap. Lots of seating. The wait time is about 20min but the food comes out hot and fresh! Plus they give a complimentary pita which is so good warm. Overall a great pick.

Love this place. It was my first time having mantoo. It's like a middle eastern dumplings. It's very tasty, the cilantros on top is a perfect touch to the dish. It adds a crunchy texture, refreshing and have nice fragrance. It has beef filling on the inside and Chickpea sauce on the outside. It's just super yummy. It's a must get. The half chicken dinner, the chicken is super juicy and it had a nice kick at the end. It will definitely fill you up, I couldn't finish this by myself. I shared with my friend and we still have left over after this. Highly recommend this place, not to mention the nan that came with his was also yummy.

I remember the last time I stepped inside this building...it used to be Ferrovia Italian Restaurant... That's explain why all these flagged stone and Italian tiles on the floors and the walls. Of course now Bamiyan Kabob took out all the chic furnishing, shutters, chandeliers it looks like more of a fast food joint. Nothing wrong with a fast food as long as it tastes good and reasonable priced. And Bamiyan Kabob is just that... Order your food...Wait for your number.....Pick up your food...Enjoy. Tikka Wrap ($5.29) - The Beef Tenderloin is cooked Medium Well with just a hint of pink is surprisingly moist and tender - Extra Spicy can be a little bit for spicy but the sauce is quite tasty - love the idea of a wrap as I can eat my lettuce, tomato and red onion at the same time as a quick lunch One thing I have to give Bamiyan Kabob credit is though it is a "fast food" joint concept, at least you get real plate and cutlery... I just hate using plastic knife and eat on Styrofoam plate. I do smell like smoke and meat after eating here... If you do eat in, stay far far away from the kitchen!

Food is yummy and a large portion. Usually we get one to share between my bf and I. This time we tried the montoo. (Similar to dumplings) delicious ! We got the kofta dinner with tones of flavoured rice, small lettuce with some yogurt sauce , and tomatoes/ onion mixture. They both came with bread which we couldn't finish lol Very good place to come try if you haven't yet.

Sultani Kabob Dinner and Mango Smoothie.

This was my first time eating Afghani food and it was quite a pleasant experience. I arrived around 12:30 on a Saturday, it wasn't that busy and I just beat the lunch rush soon after. The restaurant was very spacious and the staff were kind and helpful. I ordered a Sultani Kabob Dinner, which is a combination of Barg Kabob and Kofta Kabob including rice, salad, and naan. Also, I bought a $3 Mango Smoothie. My overall total was approximately $18. Both the kabobs I got in my dinner were very savoury and the rice and salad were very satisfying too. My kabob dinner came with a small mix of diced tomatoes and cilantro which I didn't like, next time I will ask not to include that beforehand. The complimentary sauce for my kabob dinner was good too and did enhance the taste of my meal. The mango smoothie was very delicious and I would have ordered another one again but the price deterred me from doing so. My meal was very filling. Additionally, I was able to get extra dressing for my salad, which is probably caesar dressing, on the side after I ordered. I feel the mango smoothie could have been a bit cheaper, but overall it was worth it. If I ever crave for Afghani food again, I would go to Bamiyan Kabob.

I've been wanting to try this place for a long time because I hear everywhere that the food here is really good. I heard that the meat was dry, but my kabob was really juicy and tender! The experience was alright, only the meat was good, the rest was standard. we went at 11:30am on a saturday and we were the only ones. heard they get really packed at dinner time. The decor is nice, colour scheme is consistent and walls feel true to the origin. This is kind of like a fast food set up where you order at the cash and you pick up your food. I got the kofta kabob (no rice) just salad and naan, but for some reason the cashier charged me 9.49 knowing i wanted no rice. it should be 7.49? anyway, the kabobs were tender and very juicy. I appreciate that there's no skewer. I do wish though that the salad was more interesting than lettuce and chopped tomatoes. It's dressed with typical caesar dressing and cilantro. I didn't use the little red sauce because i don't like tang. I also wish that there was something to dip my naan in. Naan is okay didn't feel very fresh- neither crispy and light nor hot and soft, it's kind of in between :/ But I do want to point out that my tray is very well presented. The dish looks just like in the picture and no lettuce or anything was hanging off my plate, kabobs were placed neatly together in the center. Points for food presentation!! I also got the firnee). The dessert was white and creamy. A little gooey and cooling which is nice and it's actually a large cup for dessert. But the dessert seemed to be sitting there for awhile since the top had dents instead of being smooth. I wish too there was more sprinkle of cardamon and pistachios on top though, it was barely a sprinkle. Overall, the food is alright, I'm only going to go back for the kabobs itself.

I think Bamiyan is one of my favourite kabob places. I've been to many, but the cooking is always great. Nice juicy moist kabobs. Today I had chicken and lamb. Both were pleasant to look at and flavourful and moist. There was a large serving of salad with mine and no naan. They traditionally serve salad, rice, and naan, but I have special dietary restrictions. They have a good selection of drinks (no alcohol of course), and a mango lasse or a chai. The restaurant is very much steeped in its afghani traditions, and a pleasure to visit and eat at. Clean, staff are cordial and polite, bathrooms are immaculate. Great place for a meal!

My curiosity for kebobs/kebabs have grown over the summer because they are grilled meat and taste different from American/Canadian BBQ flavours. Also, they are more economical. We ordered combo #5 ($36) to share, a dinner with beef tikka, seekh and grilled chicken kebobs. The chicken and seekh kebobs were tender. The beef tikka kebobs were lean, dry and a bit tough to chew. They all tasted fine/A-OK. I found the rice flavorless and not fragrant. The salad was fresh though typical. The naan wasn't as fresh and soft as could be. It had no taste. For each combo, customer could choose to have just naan/salad or dinner (rice/salad/naan). I think the naan/salad option is good portion for 1 person but is pricey, because the dinner option is only $3 extra and there is much rice. The dinner combo 5 and 6 come with 3 skewers of meat and are sufficient for 2 people. This is important because the restaurant doesn't mind people dining communal style on premise. There were many families dining there when we visited. I interpret it as the food is authentic and economical.
