I read a few reviews before coming. I appreciated Mary T.'s note about going south on Markham Road and turning right into the plaza being much easier than going north and having to turn left. Naan Kabob has a large dining area. There's booth seating along the sides with tables and high-top seating in the centre. There are even outlets to charge your devices while you eat at the high-top seating. Since I wasn't very hungry, I was looking for something lighter to have for lunch. I got a small order of mantu. These are dumplings filled with ground beef and sautéed onions and topped with savoury sautéed split peas and ground beef sauce and garlic yogurt. I was given a restaurant pager to inform me when my order was ready to be picked up. I was provided with a large, glass water bottle and a glass on my serving tray. As this restaurant is more self-service, I appreciated this unexpected gesture. The mantus were so delicious. All the flavours and textures worked so well together. Calling out all meat lovers! Came here for the first time for dinner recently. Since you can't make reservations, we came a bit earlier around 6:15pm on a Saturday and the restaurant was quite full. This is a family style restaurant so its a bit noisy. It was also a bit chaotic as there were people everywhere...standing by the front either ordering or waiting for their food. It's set up like a fast food style restaurant where you order the food at the counter up front and you get a buzzer for picking up the food. Now on to the food review. just superb! For the 5 of us, we got the NK Mix platter. This is a great option for 5 to 6 people. There were a variety of meats including chicken kabobs, shami beef kabobs, tandoori chicken and chaplee beef patties. My favourite was chaplee as the onion & spices were perfectly blended with the beef. We also got the beef dumplings appetizer which were also really flavourful. This was my first and will be my last visit to this store. I had high expectations because a friend of mine went to another location yesterday and said how great the food was so I wanted to try it out for myself. The location my friend tried was in Mississauga. The service to start off with is not pleasant. There were 2 girls at cash and when we walk up to them none of them acknowledged us and just stared. I could tell they were reluctant to serve us and one of them whispered something to the other girl. I thought that was very rude and not professional. Eventually the girl standing closer to us served us. She looked annoyed when we were trying to order. They did not check for proof of vaccination. The food was average. The meat tasted like it was re-heated. The tandoori chicken was probably the best. The food wasn't hot enough. The washrooms were dirty (smelly too). The high chairs looked like it has never been wiped down. The ventilation is so so. Overall, it wasn't the best experience. read more

This Naan and Kabob location is the closest one to my home. It's on Markham Road, just north of Sheppard Avenue East, on the west side. Last Wednesday, I was driving back from Mississauga. I scheduled my takeout order through the Uber Eats app. I had a pickup time of 4:40 pm. It is rare that I am driving along Highway 401 during rush hour these days. It was the case last Wednesday. I don't miss commuting from Mississauga for work, but traffic actually flowed well compared to what I used to do pre-pandemic. The downside heading over to Naan and Kabob off the 401 is making a left turn to get into this plaza. You have cars in front of you making a left turn in the opposite direction and you can't see a thing! You also have four lanes of traffic to look at on top of not being able to fully see what's going on. I waited for a good two minutes to make my turn, thanks to all traffic heading in the opposite direction and the cars in front of me making the same turn. If I were heading here from home, I'd be fine with less aggravation! There are some cool eateries here. I used to work near this area years ago and I don't recognize much. There's a Hakka restaurant close to Naan and Kabob, which I have flagged mentally to visit someday. I didn't have any issue finding a parking spot. There is plenty of parking. I parked and walked over to the restaurant. It's a one-way direction to head over to the order and pickup area, and leave. There were a couple of customers ahead of me. I spent time looking around and taking photos while I waited. When it was my turn, I was helped by a friendly man. He found my order in the system and put my food together. He then handed it to me in a plastic bag. I was happy and thanked him. I promptly left the restaurant, got into my car, and drove home. I ordered the following items: - Waziri classic dinner (I got salad instead of rice) - Small mantu I like the sustainable containers that this place uses. They are also sturdy. I had the waziri dinner. It comes with naan, rice, and salad. I actually got double the salad, as I didn't feel like passing out eating a ton of rice and made that substitution. As expected, this place is generous with portions. The salad was fresh and crisp. I ate it all. The naan looked like a huge peanut in its shell, but it was perfect. Getting the waziri dinner at any Afghani restaurant is my go-to order. I like getting a skewer of chicken and another of shish kabob. It's the best of both worlds. The chicken was grilled nicely. Each morsel was tender, flavourful, and juicy. I loved the shish kabob. It was so flavourful and yummy. My dinner came with both the spicy tomato dipping sauce and the kabob sauce in separate little containers. I ordered more food than I could down for dinner. I had the small mantu for lunch the following day. There is nothing small about it. It was a full meal for me. The mantu here are different. They are hand-formed and look rustic. They are filled with a tasty ground beef filling, have some yogurt on top, along with split peas. I went with mild because I didn't know how hot the spicy style was and didn't want to douse a fire happening in my mouth. The mantu were fantastic! I enjoyed everything. The flavours worked well between the thin dumpling wrappers, yogurt, split peas, and ground beef. As much as I love grilled meat here, I may need to ditch that for the mantu. I need more! I love trying different cuisines and I've been to Naan and Kabob on Yonge Street, near my former office. Delicious! When my friend suggested we come here for lunch, I was all in! We contemplated the menu for a while. So many choices. Everything looked good. We finally settled on sharing the Beef Lover's Chef's Platter, which included three kinds of beef, roasted veggies, naan bread, and French fries. We also ordered Mantu, beef dumplings. Our order was placed at the counter and we received a pager to notify us when it was ready for pickup. It was kinda like a fast food setup but the decor was very attractive and a bit upscale looking, with many ferns hanging from the ceiling. The pager went off and I picked up the food at the counter, too much for one trip but the person who took our order brought some of it to our table. Wow, the presentation was beautiful! The beef dish was served on a wooden board, similar to a cutting board. The mantu and rice were served on oblong platters. Very nice presentation. Everything tasted as good as it looked! The three kinds of beef were tender and full of flavour. Very well spiced. The accompanying garlic dipping sauce was awesomely delicious! I put it on everything! I cannot recommend this place enough. I had placed a catering order for 20 people (2 of the basic packages buffet style and 20 mango smoothies). Service was amazing throughout the pickup prices and the staff was very friendly. The food was a huge hit with everyone and got everyone fed well and with leftovers. The chicken breast, tandoori chicken, and Shami kabob were all cooked well even with transport. The mango smoothies were also a hit with everyone..I didn't even get a chance to take a proper photo of everything since it all went quickly. Our friends were the ones to first introduced us to Naan and Kabob: we had take out and I devoured the shish kabob (ground beef) and Beef Tikka (veal sirloin). You order at the counter, seat yourself then pick up your order when it's ready (you get a pager). Food comes out in about 10-15 minutes even with a steady steam of customers during a weekday lunch period. Staff is friendly and helpful and they do check on you while you're eating to make sure everything is alright. RECOMMENDATIONS: - Shish Kabob (seasoned ground beef) - Chopan Kabob (marinated, grilled lamb chops) comes with yummy rice and a small side salad. After placing our order, we went to get a seat and got a ringer that'll let us know when the foods ready. The portions for their food aren't small at all; if I had a main to myself, I couldn't never finish it. We ordered the chicken lover platter with a side rice. All the chicken were very flavourful and tender, and combined with their rice, it makes the perfect combo. Their basmati rice is abit flavored with spices so it wouldn't be too plain. I'm not a super fan of these generic restaurant names like Naan and Kebob but I understand the benefit of these kinds of names - at least the name explicitly communicates its core product to the consumers. My first and only visit to Naan and Kebob gave me the opportunity to try half of their staple products... the kebob. My sole order was the chicken kebob wrap. The verdict... I was not a huge fan. The interior was clean and had a cool modern vibe to it... check! The wrap was toasted and was hot to the touch when it was handed to me... check! And for the most important element... The chicken Kebob was marinated with a lot of spice but unfortunately the blend of spice was just not my cup of tea. Unfortunately I have to give that one a big X. I was also very thirsty after the meal. Another X! There was also a slight snafu service wise where my colleague came 5-7 minutes later than I did but she ended up with her order (she ordered a whole chicken Kebob meal) before me. Not a big deal but logistically something to think about for the management. For like nine dollar after tax, I think there are bigger and cheaper just a few stones away. I came here to grab take out for lunch. It's located in a plaza on Sheppard and Markham Rd. There was a lot of parking spots when I arrived at 11:25 AM. Upon entering, the restaurant is very spacious and nicely decorated. Many tables and booths. You order at the cash and they give you a buzzer. I placed my order at 11:30 and did not receive my food until 11:55AM. Whether you think that is long for a semi fast food restaurant is up to you. Personally, I did think it was too long. While waiting for my food, there seems to be 2 cooks and 1 preparing salads and what not and 1 person at cash to take orders and pack them. I think they should have another person in the kitchen to help out and another in the front to help take orders and pack the food. When I was there, there was only 8 orders to be prepared and the workers seemed a little overwhelmed. The poor girl working at the front asked for naam bread at least 5 times and it took 10 mins to get them. All the orders were just waiting on it. I can tell the people who had order before me were impatient and getting frustrated. We girl who finally got her order, asked the girl working at the front if there was salad dressing in there already but she was too busy and probably did not heard so the customer just walked out being annoyed. When I finally got my ordered, I drove back to the office so I can eat. After all I did wait 25 mins, I was starving!! I ordered the Tandori with rice. It came with naan and salad as well. For $14~ it was quite a bit of food! It also came with white sauce and this other tomato base sauce. I had asked them for an extra white sauce and they did not charge me which was nice. And luckily I asked because their sauce packs barely has anything in there! You can see for yourself in the photo. The food was good, the naan was my favourite! I think she had read about it from one of the blogs she frequents. You've probably seen Naan and Kabob at a food court somewhere before. This location is a stand alone they've opened. So first things first, they've really kept the food court approach when it comes to this place. You come in and you seat yourself. You order at the front and they give you a pager. When it rings you come back to the front and pick up your food. There are rare instances where the staff will bring the food to you though. I ordered what basically is a mixed grill platter and my wife ordered a beef dish. The portions here are pretty good. They also give you a lot of rice. If you're a big eater like me, you like that very much! The taste was amazing on the meats. You could really taste the different spices they use on each one. The grilled chicken was very juicy too and never dry. It was very enjoyable to the last bite. Even though it's more a food court feel, the staff will still come by a couple of times to make sure everything is alright. I found them very helpful and friendly throughout our meal here. I would totally recommend Naan and Kabob to anyone looking to try something new. This place gets a solid 4 stars from me. The reason I had to knock off a star is because they don't accept credit! O_O!! For a franchise with several locations in the GTA, I was surprised & shocked when the cashier told me this. They do take debit & cash, but really? It's 2018. Food & price: Prices are a touch high for lunch time, but the portions were fair to the price. The price range at our table was around $14-18 each before tax and tip if you're giving. No one was able to finish their meal (we're all female if that matters). The food itself was soooooo good. I like that the meals are made to order here. Meaning the meats were all juicy, tender and hot. They also gave everyone their own warm naan & dip. After coming to their brick and mortar location at markham rd., I will not be going back to their STC location even though it's closer to my work. I will most certainly be back for more of their food. Bottled (in a carafe) tap water is available for free, upon request if you don't want to buy a drink. Service: Everyone was polite and handled the lunch rush well. You order your food and pay first. You are given a pager and your receipt. You get to sit anywhere in the restaurant and they will page you once your food is ready. You pick up your food at the counter. The time spent in the restaurant was what I expected for a made to order joint. Don't expect to be in and out too quickly as the place does get busy at lunch. Atmosphere: The decor was nice. Seats were comfortable and plenty even when they were busy. Washroom, seating and tables felt clean and new. Overall: I will be back here for lunch. Located @ 1780 Markham Rd, Scarborough, ON M1B 2W2, Canada Date visited : Sunday April 29, 2018 My wife and I ended up here out of curiousity, since we originally had planned to go to Harvey's since we had a coupon. At the last moment, since both restos are located in the same plaza, we chanced to give Naan & Kabob a try. We are sorta new to fusion type restos. This appeared to be a fusion of Afghani Cuisine and some Indian mixed in. Service : service was okay, staff was friendly enough. You place your order at the counter prior to sitting down. You get wireless gadgets to bring to your table that will vibrate to inform you when your order is ready for pickup at the counter. Food : My wife ordered Chicken Kofta platter and I opted to try the chicken breast skewer platter. Both dishes come with a healthy serving of seasoned rice, a simple salad (iceberg lettuce and red cabbage). Along with a small tomato salad (there might be a specific name for this)? My wife enjoyed her Chicken Kofta dish, she received 2 kofta skewers (lean ground chicken with onions, seasonings and herbs), I found the kofta a bit spicy. On the down side with my dish, I only received 1 skewer worth of cubed chicken breast meat (lightly seasoned and slightly charred). I normally find grilled proteins to be on the drier side, if they aren't well marinated well before cooking. My dish also came with 2 large pieces of naan that were cut in 1/2 so 4 pieces altogether (talk about carb load!!). Likely for future visits will opt for the Chicken Kofta platter as well. The rice was moist and seasoned in a subtle fashion. We were both stuffed after we finished consuming our dishes. She had some left on her plate so I happily polished that off. We took our leftover 2 pieces of Naan home with us. Beverages : we just had water on this visit, since they serve in chilled in kewl looking bottles with caps. I ordered the Sultani Plate for $ 14.99. The smaller pieces of meat (i think it is veal) has a lot of juices and flavour. But the larger one (shish kabob) was drier and not as flavourful. Note; after eating this, I notice i was very thirsty, i'm not sure if they added MSG. Compare to STC location: -more rice -less salad -nicer environment due to location -bit slower wait times, but possibly fresher Compare to Kandahar Kabab -rice seems saltier, but portion seems a bit less(?) -The meat at Naan and Kabob seems more inconsistent in terms of flavour/juices. Some is good and some is not so good and is on the dryer side. -I prefer the bread at Kandahar Kabab -faster wait times -better environment -better salad overall I think I prefer Kandahar Kabab. but you should try both! read more

The prices are on the high range, 2 skewers of kabab and tikka for 15 dollars, without rice or side is expensive. If you need to add rice you pay 1 extra dollar which make it extra expensive to have lunch for 16 dollars. The taste of the tikka chicken skewer is delicious, mild spiciness and though it is well charred, I believe it is over cooked and dry. The Kabab skewer is small, over cooked but it is delicious though I believe there was extra flavor of the rose water. Decided to visit this location randomly. The inside is clean and the decor is quite nice. Ordered N & K Grill which includes: a mix of tandoori chicken, shish kabob, and classic chicken with rice. It also comes with naan. The chicken was amazing! I wasn't to fond the shish kabob it was ok. I will definitely visit again read more
