    Kabul rice, Sultani platter (back)

This is not, a "fine dining" restaurant as per the label on their front door. Food is ordered at the counter, the portions are large, and the menu itself is fairly extensive catering for diverse tastes. The food itself is a bit spicier than other Afghan places, and features a bit of a mix of Afghan, Pakistani and Indian food. It has the vibe of a sober dive bar - lively music playing in the background, prices suitable for students (given it's proximity to TMU) and the quick, efficient service (without overheads of waiting services). We had the Kabul rice, sweet, almost could be a dessert, but worked well with spicy food and definitely something different; the silver Sultani kebab combo, there are better kebabs, but good value for money; and the lamb shank - stunning sauce, really soft falling of the bone and the highlight of the meal. There are classier Afghan places, there are certainly better kebab places, but the lamb shank, with a side of the Kabul rice, may be the reason to come back.

We were a group of 11 that walked in as their 1st customers for lunch time. Birthday boy chose this place from work. It did not disappoint. My lamb chop was juicy. I added both the tzatziki sauce and a light hot sauce to the lamb chop which worked well together. The naan bread was hot and fresh, also dipped it in both sauces. I ate the whole combo. 3 lamb chops with salad and fresh naan. My plate was the first to come out, but the 11th plate didn't take that much longer to serve, so more points for the cook. It's a bit of walk from my office, but it was worth the trip, got to digest a bit walking back to office.

A stalwart in the city serving Afghani cuisine, Kabul Express is located a few blocks away from the Eaton Center right in the downtown core. Their menu is certified Halal and is available for delivery on Door Dash, SkipTheDishes and UberEats. Authentic afghan grill meals are freshly prepared here, served with brown Basmati rice and Tandoor baked bread fresh out of the clay oven. The Tandoor baked naan is slightly thicker and more dense than Indian naan. Fan favourites include the butter chicken, chicken tawa lamb tawa karahi, karahi, balti chicken boneless, balti chicken karahi, balti lamb karahi, and chicken biryani. Their menu boasts offerings like succulent grilled lamb chops, badashi combo (grilled chicken breast pieces & beef kofta) and waziri combo (tandoori chicken & beef kofta), boneless chicken karahi, tandoori chicken, tandoori fish, spicy grilled wings, chaplee beef kabob, chicken/beef kofta and paneer tikka with grilled veggies. Don't forget the drinks - Barbican, Ayran salty lassi, mango lassi and bottled juices - or the kulfi ice cream (assorted flavours) and kulfi ice cream on a stick! Of note is their Signature Grill Platter for $100. It comes with the works - lamb chops chicken malai tikka, chicken breast tikka, tandoori fish, chicken kofta, beef kofta, chaplee kabab, 12 tandoori chicken wings, large butter chicken, plain rice, 5 plain Naans, 5 pops and salad. Their Family Platter is a smaller option and it comes with tandoori, malai tikka, chicken kofta, beef tikka, beef kofta, chicken leg, chaplee kabab, Rice, 3 plain Naans, 3 pops and salad for $60. If you like the Naan & Kabob chains, or Baghlan Kabob & Bakery in Rexdale and Brampton, or Kandahar Kebab, other Afghan restaurants serving great kabobs, Kabul Express was the granddaddy of them all serving good food since 2008.

I don't understand why the rating is less than a 4, and I don't understand why ppl say they r slow. We went during weekend, and we got our food fairly fast and extremely delicious. U might say "why is this kabul place serving Indian food", I just want to say there was a mr.panini place in waterloo that served Chinese food, why does name matter this much this to u? Their naan is so soft, their chicken wings are extremely juicy, their butter chicken is good and I love the tandoori chicken, super tender. I enjoyed my meal and would consider coming back in the future!

You may have to wait a bit because everything is made to order but it's not enough to take off one star. I'm glad I got introduced to this place - my new replacement for (thou shall not be named). Everything was so delicious and fresh. The rice had a hint of cinnamon and the meat was very tender. This place comes with lentil soup and the naan was so good. I will be returning.

Almost good quality, cheap prices Variety of food types Homeless people are around, so sometimes they come inside for begging spare change By the way, overall it is value for money. So, I still recommend it as a place to eat dinner or lunch.

Located in dundas street just east of church street, this is a hidden place. When I came in, there were a lot of customers for lunch. they have a wide selection of items and I chose the beef kafka which comes with salad, a pita and a few beef chunks. for some reason, it takes them like 20 minutes to get my order which is too long in my opinion because a lot of people need to head back to the office. they also give you two dipping sauces. one spicy and one looks like cream cheese. Overall, i was satisfied with the food, but it just takes too long to bring out.

The I Heart Butter Tart Concrete ($6.49) that I ordered was a little too much for myself. I did decide to go through and finish the ice cream / sundae just so I don't have anything to go. The interior of the place was properly though out and well designed. Self order stations are available to order from and the ordering interface is one of the better systems I have seen. When I dined in early afternoon on a weekday it was a rather slow day. There were a couple of Shake Shack employees constantly roaming about the premises ready to attend to any customer request. 1 such employee was thoughtful enough to serve me and a group of other customers some water. I have mixed feelings about the bathroom setup. Yes, it is clean and there were a few toilet rooms available, but it requires a code to be entered prior to using. The door screen shows as vacant but an employee still needs to give out the 4 digit code needed to access the toilets. I also found some issues with the water faucet sensors. It is inconsistently picking up my gestures resulting in an unreliable and unsteady flow of running water when I was washing my hands.

The first course was Labneh with bread, hummus, & beef tartare. Second course was Lamb pide & pear salad. Third course was grilled branzino, middle eastern fried chicken, black truffle rice, and thrice cooked fries. Then there was dessert which was chocolate mousse cake & baklava. Because of my many food allergies the main server for our table was very attentive & specific in asking me what I wanted as modifications. For example I got a wagyu beef pide instead of the lamb. Every dish was really delicious, presented well & quite filling. I couldn't eat all of the food. Though I tried almost everything. Service: The pacing of the dishes was quite masterful. They really paid attention to when the food was going to come out. As I mentioned above the main server was very attentive to my food allergies. I really appreciated that as some restaurants aren't as attentive. The food was served family style so everyone could take what they wanted from the serving dishes. The dishes were served in little bowls along the tables with each bowl serving about 4 people. We had asked for one long table so it was a little snug. But we made it work. Ambiance: For dinner the lighting of the space is really dim. LOL. I would have appreciated just a little bit more light. The restaurant is in an old building so to use the washroom you had to go down two flights of stairs. The dining area is small also. But it's a pretty space. As mentioned above we asked for one long table to seat 15 people. I was expecting square tables but it was a bunch of small round tables pushed together. So the tables were really crowded with food from all the dishes. But the servers made sure to take empty serving dishes away as soon as possible. The music was a little loud for me so I had to yell to be heard. The place was packed though. Everyone at our table enjoyed the food, the service & atmosphere. The restaurant is close to Roy Thompson Hall & the other theatres nearby so it's a convenient location as well. It's too bad this place is only open for dinner. I would have loved to see how they would operate a lunch time service. In any case, Byblos was amazing. I would come back here again to try other dishes! Note: Some of my pics of the main dishes didn't turn out so it's mostly desserts that are pictures

This is their second location, in a build with 3 other food vendors. It is mostly a takeout restaurant. There is a small counter where you could stand and eat. There are six set combinations. Or you can build your own pasta (BYOP) combo. On the soft-opening day (2025-01-20), they were offering an opening special of Mac N Cheese with BBQ Chicken sample and a drink for only $6.99. I ordered the following: 1. BYOP: Garlic Shrimp, penne, rose sauce, broccoli, black olives, mushrooms. It automatically comes with sliced green peppers and chopped parsley. 2. Opening Special ($6.99) x 2. For the BYOP, they didn't warn me it was medium spicy. I can handle it with a cold drink! The shrimp and penne were perfectly cooked. I loved the rose sauce. My choices of broccoli,  black olives, and mushrooms worked well together and with the base. The Opening Special was delicious; the Mac n Cheese part and BBQ Chicken were really good! Unfortunately, the BBQ was mildly spicy, and my son didn't like it; more for me! The customer service was good. It took them a long time to prepare the food (there were many orders prior to mine). But it was opening day, so hopefully, they will speed up their cooking. There is no free WiFi. The food stall is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-open button. There are no customer washrooms. There is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2025-014

The seafood and tonkotsu broth was rich, savory, and full of flavor. It was a little too salty to drink on its own, but perfect for dipping the noodles. The only thing to note is that the cold noodles stayed quite firm even after sitting in the broth for a while, so if you prefer a softer texture, I would recommend asking for hot noodles instead. The soft-boiled egg was also really good, slightly sweet, chilled, and very flavorful. We also tried the Spicy Red Miso ramen, which was not actually very spicy and leaned a little sweet. The broth was pleasant, though my teammate felt there were so many onions and green onions that they covered some of the miso flavor. The chashu, however, was excellent, with a really nice balance of lean meat and fat without feeling greasy. The takoyaki was classic and well done, crisp on the outside, soft in the middle, with generous pieces of octopus inside. The karaage was also very solid, crispy outside and juicy inside, with a seasoning that had a clear ginger and cooking wine aroma. Overall, a very enjoyable meal, especially if you like rich broths and comforting Japanese side dishes.

For the fixed menu, it came with miso soup, we got the shishito peppers, tako yaki (this was really good, wasn't expecting the inside filling to be so flavourful), chicken and waffles, steak and eggs. Everything was tasty! The dessert however was the highlight, taro ice cream was really good, the yuzu sorbet was very refreshing. Onto the vegetarian menu, the lychee ceviche was something we have never tasted before, this was sparingly really delicious. The Nasu miso (eggplant with apricot) was also a pairing we didn't expect to be as tasty as it was. Experience: During the duration of the brunch, hands on exotic was present with birds.
