We normally go to Tasty Pot in Phoenix and were excited to have one open in Tucson. Unfortunately, the experience here has been inconsistent and disappointing. We usually order the #1 and substitute the broth for Thai broth and are happy to pay the extra charge. In the past, the staff had no problem doing this. However, on our most recent visit we were told substitutions are not allowed and that a manager has to enter a 4-digit code to make the change. This explanation didn't make sense since the last few times we came in the waiter was able to do the substitution with no issue. We don't mind paying extra for the substitution, especially since the Phoenix location allows it. The inconsistency and lack of clear policy were frustrating. Tasty Pot is a new Taiwanese hot pot restaurant that opened up in the previous 81 Hong Kong cafe. Overall we really enjoyed our lunch there. My husband got the lamb hot soup and I got the tomato hot soup. This is not the type of hot pot where you cook individual ingredients yourself. Rather everything is brought to you pretty much cooked in a pot with a small burner underneath to keep everything hot. The only item we had to add ourselves was a side of bean thread noodles that we opted for instead for rice. We were happy with the flavor and the ingredients and the hot pot was very satisfying. My main issues were the amount of noodles provided (the small bundle of noodles literally boiled down to one bite) and you are limited to 2 sauces -- a garlic soy sauce and a chili sauce both of which were tasty but you can't have Taiwanese hot pot without the bullhead barbecue sauce (or at least some type of sesame sauce)! I really liked the iced green tea which came with the lunch menu though. You could taste that it was freshly brewed with just the right amount of sweetness. Service was friendly and the servers checked on us appropriately. You can order either on the tablet or the servers can take your order as well. Despite the few issues mentioned I will definitely still return as it'll save us a drive to the university for a similar experience. read more

This spot opened at an opportune time right before winter. Overall this is a nice location with plenty of parking. It's busy but we got lucky and didn't have to wait for a table. The service was fast and attentive as well. Food- i got the Japanese hot pot and was very satisfied. Everything tasted great and the portion was huge. They offer leftover containers which was great and handy. I wish they gave me a separate container for the noodles but otherwise the soup was still tasty as leftovers! Would definitely recommended if you're in the mood for some soup. Great for solo and small group dining. read more

I love Taiwanese hotpot! This place has a location in Phoenix and I am so happy that one opened up here. The hotpots are flavorful for the most part. Unfortunately, while this place was also great, the hotpot flavors were different. Perhaps a bit watered down? I'm not sure why but the menu is also different than the one in Phoenix. The consistency in flavors could use some work, but I still find it tasty. Tasty is in its name, after all. Service was a bit slow, and some seats at the booths were way too close together that they were a bit uncomfortable. read more

OK, so I made pescatarian and the only reason I'm giving this place three stars is because I was limited to one option off the menu. I couldn't order the seafood hot pot because it's made with bone broth, which makes absolutely no sense to me but to each their own. The service was great. They were very attentive, courteous, and the interior super clean and new and fresh and inviting and the music. I absolutely loved it.! I almost forgot I usually go for hot tea and when I ordered it, I didn't realize that they were bringing me an iced tea and it was just one of the best tasting teas I've ever had so delicious.! read more

We really wanted to try this place but it seems you guys just really wanted to waste our time. Not impressed and I don't recommend. Asked for water they forgot. Servers were sitting eating and not engaged in serving us. Went to counter and they got up from eating with a mouthful of food and I asked for the water and they didn't even wash their hands. The food came out and was in the cauldron. Eventually it was burning the food and they came and poured water in the pot diluting the food. Then they put the flame out. Sorry. Not going back. read more

This is the same as the one in Tempe so it's great to have a location in town. Pots come prearranged and delicious, with many varieties to choose from, we had the Sichuan Flavor this visit. You can add-on but not necessary at all, choose your spice level and they top off your soup whenever you want. The service is great and ran as a team, they were very attentive and friendly and moving nimbly as they kept the tables and floors clean. Happy diners filled the many booths and tables and people kept trickling in the entire time we were there. I wouldn't recommend sitting at the booth in the left corner because the ac blows directly down onto you lol. Let me start by saying this review is based solely on their staff and customer service. We usually visit their location in Mesa so we were so happy when they opened up a location here in town. The first time we went was when they first opened and everything was pretty good. Definitely not as efficient or friendly as the Mesa location, but definitely a place we would visit again. However, after tonight I will never visit this Tucson location ever again. This is the second time we have tried to dine here but have been turned away because "they are closed". Signage outside has the open sign lit up, website shows they close at 9:30pm and sign on the door also says they close at 9:30pm. 2 weeks ago, we stopped by on a Friday at 8:55pm and were told they were closed. I was disappointed but understood that maybe because it was raining outside and business was slow, they decided to close early. However tonight after finishing up at a vball tournament at Sporting Chance, we decided to try again. I called 4 times starting at 8pm to make sure they were not closing early and no one answered the phone. We decided to head over and check since the website was still allowing you to place orders online. We walked in at 8:45pm with about 2 or 3 tables of customers eating and as soon as the guy saw us, he looked so annoyed. He says "sorry you missed last call we are closed". I looked at him and said but the sign says 9:30pm and the open sign says you are still open, so when is last call? He looks at his watch and says "about an hour before we close". In my opinion, this is absolutely ridiculous. This is premade hotpot, you aren't having to cook your food. Your bowl comes out ready to eat and this isn't all you can eat. There is absolutely no reason for them to stop taking dine in 1 hr before they close besides just being lazy. If this is their policy, they definitely need to have signage posted and also stated on their website. If you have ever visited their Mesa location, you know there is always a wait and their service is so fast, you are in and out in less than 45 mins. Needless to say, we will never be back to this location. I really hope they either get employees that want to work or they just go out of business. read more

Excellent food, friendly and helpful servers. The server refilled our soup broth hallway through the meal.

First of all, the food is very expensive. Second, one of us was served the wrong food which they replaced after we started to eat. Mine was overfilled and spilled all over the floor as they brought it out. One of the servers wiped up the floor and THEN proceeded to wipe the table with the same cloth!! That about killed my appetite. The flame under my hotpot could not be put out hence everything was boiling and the meat way overcooked. They finally took it away to fix the burner. At least it didn't spill when they brought it back. Honestly, we were not prepared for the very strange and sometimes unidentifiable ingredients (never would have eaten the pork blood rice had I known what it was) in the hotpot and found it not very appealing. The inside was clean, after all they had just opened. The servers were trying to be helpful but looked a bit overwhelmed and not very prepared. Can't say I'd ever eat there again. read more
