I come here pretty often, and everything tastes great all the time! My personally favorite is the lamb hot pot, not only because I like lamb but also of the fried tofu. The portions are very generous. However, I do want to note that if you get a hot pot above the mild spiciness level, it may get a little too salty. I have had generally decent experiences of the service here, as they would come up and ask for more water or soup themselves. This was the first time I've tried the concept of Tasty Pot and it was great! There are an overwhelming amount of choices so look carefully before ordering! I got the stinking tofu hot soup and it was pretty good. The only downfall was that there was SO MUCH CABBAGE. More than anything else in the soup. (Reference bottom below) We arrived at 8:45 and right off the bat they said "our kitchen closes at 9 and the restaurant closes at 9:30" and that was kinda off putting because I know how the industry is and you shouldn't tell customers that. But anyways, we were seated right away. They also set down our check 2 mins after we got our checks. Again, very odd but they told us we have until 9:30 so we took our time. I would totally come back again but I'd try a different soup type and come during lunch or an earlier dinner time. The customer service was ok and the space is small. So be prepared for all that. Different than the purported standard of hotpot (communal cooking of selected trays of uncooked goods) in that Tasty Pot consists of individual boiling bowls of prepared (assembled and cooked) meals, but tasty nonetheless. I got the lamb bowl (which I rather enjoyed) and I'd like to muster up the courage to try the cheesy bowl should the opportunity and craving coincide. It's admittedly pricey--I believe base cost is $16.99 plus tax and tip--and their rewards program of a free bowl for every 10 bowls purchased is utterly useless (they only provide that option on the customer copy of the receipt and do not provide a pen with which to provide a number). All in all, it's a far cry from the ideal hotpot experience in form and costliness but it makes some small amends through accessibility and overall quality. It's a small space, so there isnt that many tables. It was nice that we were able to put in our order before being seated. I felt like that helped speed up the process because by the time we were seated, we only had to wait about 5 minutes before our pots came. Service was pretty good. The servers were nice. They were quick to get us anything we needed, such as extra sides. I ordered the beef hot soup with vermicelli. I also added quail eggs. I felt like it was rather small. Nothing in the soup stood out to me except my side order of quail eggs, but that's quail eggs, and they are always good. The soup lacked hearty flavor, and that's what I like. The beef was also a thick and little tough. I like my meat thinly sliced and tender. Thank goodness for the sauces. That helped make everything taste a little better. Family reunion and we decided to come here to eat. Surprisingly we came here on a good day and a good time because we didn't have to wait which is usually what we expected. There was 5 of us and we got seated at a table that was meant for 4 people so the chair they pulled out was a foldable chair that wasn't very comfortable and when our hot pot came out. . . our table space got so much smaller. All of us decided to order the curry hot pot, beef hot pot, seafood hot pot and the stinky tofu hot pot. The beef hot pot was okay where it took awhile for the beef to cook since the soup wasn't all the way to the top and so I had to "dunk" the beef to make sure it was fully cooked before eating it. My cousin said that the curry hot pot was okay but it seemed like the things were frozen and not very fresh. As for the seafood hot pot, it tasted good, but not much flavor which made my cousin sad. My boyfriend had the stinky tofu hot pot and he said that it tasted okay. As for the table space mentioned earlier, since the table was meant for 4 people and there were 5 of us, sometimes we would accidentally bump into each other with our arms because the space was smaller. The service here was not very good though to be honest. While eating our hot pot, it seemed like the hot pot was tilted where it was leaking and the soup actually leaked onto my boyfriend's jeans. When we asked for napkins the waiter completely ignored it and we had to wait a couple minutes and ask two more waiters for napkins until we received it. Happy to know that there is a pretty decent taiwanese hot pot place in Berkeley area! I ordered the taiwanese supreme hot pot, and it was a fairly large portion (the bowl does say larger - $15 for lunch without tax). It had a good amount of food inside, and medium spicy (which is the lowest level for that) was pretty spicy actually. You get an option of vermicelli or rice - I chose vermicelli. They don't give you much vermicelli though, it was like a small bow that basically dissolves in your soup so if you want more, I would opt for the rice. I also like that the green tea is not too sweetened as many other places have it, it was perfect combination for the hot pot. At first everything is quick, they get you seated and even gave complementary iced green tea, took orders and after the food comes the workers are gone until it's time to pay. My family of four ordered three pots, I shared with my little sister because there's no way we could've finished one ourselves. When ordering we made sure to ask for an extra bowl of rice. When the food came out we only got three bowls of rice, so we reminded our server for the fourth one, and it didn't come for another 15 minutes. Also they gave the first cup of iced green tea, but after that they filled the cups with water so the taste of the tea and water mixed together and tasted funny. Oh Tasty Pot, now that it's fall again I'm so glad you're here in Berkeley to save me on those perfect soup-weather evenings. If my friends and can't decide on where to eat, Tasty Pot never fails us. As a seasoned check-in veteran, I highly suggest the #1: Beef Hot Soup + vermicelli! You can also get it with rice, but IMO vermicelli is the way to go. I come here way too often. I'm pretty sure that if I checked in every time I came to eat here, I'd be one of the top regulars. It's one of the only hot pot places in this area, but the broth--especially in the Taiwanese hot pot bowl--is better than many I've had even in Southern California. The quality of the meat is hit or miss sometimes, but I think that's just part of the nature of hot pot. Service is also not bad; they usually keep our cups full and make sure we have enough broth. The only thing that happens sometimes is that they forget to put certain things in the pot, so I have to specifically ask for them (e.g., several times they have forgotten to put tempura in my pot). However, every time I notify the servers when this happens, they quickly bring the missing items--and usually a little extra--so this is not a big deal. COVID review - Came here to get takeout because I was craving some hot pot and didn't have the highest expectations since hot pot for takeout isn't always the best. However, I was pleasantly surprised! I ordered the beef hot soup and the seafood lobster hot soup and both were exactly how it's like when eating in person. Two sauces each were given to us and the vermicelli was in another container. It was the exact same as eating it in the restaurant with the only difference being the temperature. Usually there is a fire at the bottom of the pot so that the food is always hot and boiling but we weren't able to replicate the same experience at home so the food got colder faster (which is expected). We were a group of 7 if you want to know. However, they split us into a group of five and a group of two. Unfortunately, this made conversation hard and I wanted to spend a night with all my friends and the one that I sat with, I wanted to introduce her more to my other friends. So while it was nice to hang out, I wanted a bigger group setting I ordered the Taiwanese supreme hot pot with a flaming spicy level. That thing wasn't flaming spicy. It's spicy, but not as hot as I expected am considering that I ordered the highest level of spice. However, the meat was nice and tender and juicy, the mushrooms were moist and juicy, and the pork intestine was meaty, but a little too strange for me-- I prefer tripe. Service was okay-- spotty at times when we couldn't flag down a waiter quickly. They also forgot to get my dessert. I, initially, came here during their soft opening. Since then, I've returned once and I am officially a fan of this place. The first time, I ordered the Taiwanese Supreme Spicy hot pot, very spicy, for $15.99. This one was also larger than the other ones. The 2nd time, I ended up ordering the lamb hot pot. The supreme spicy hot pot was by far the winner. I don't think I'd end up ordering anything else. It was pretty much a combination soup served with both meat and seafood. It also had ramen. Definitely perfect for those who could put it down. I had to take half of mine togo. I definitely like the broth base for the beef more, but if you want that hint of curry smell/flavor, the curry hot soup isnt bad ! It does have a few different ingredients such as egg, fish balls, and more fish cake I believe. The meat is always soft and doesn't have that cardboardy/dry feeling when you chew into it ! Staff took our orders before we were seated so food came out pretty quickly once we got our table. I had the Cheesy Milk HP which was good, but a little bland for my taste. However, my friend's beef HP was said to be amazing! The portions for HP are good for its price and fills you up nicely! My only issue was that the check was placed on our table just 15 minutes into our meal--none of us were near finished with our meal. My server asked if I wanted rice or noodles (vermicelli) and I opted for the noodles. I waited about 8 or so minutes before he came back with my pot of yummy goodness and adjusted the flame temperature for me. Then I chowed down! The flavor was perfect. I had asked for mild and it was mild but extremely flavorful. I waited a couple minutes and ate some of the items in the bowl before I stuffed the noodles under everything to properly cook. I don't really have any complaints, but if I were to be nit picky, my bowl was kinda crooked on the thing heating up the soup, so it was boiling a lot, and the soup was spilling over a little and I didn't know how to fix that. I think I would like this place a lot more if they had the things that let you adjust your heat setting, because I didn't really want it boiling hot the whole time. Overall I would say service is friendly. We were on the wait list and a waitress let us preorder and kept us updated on the wait time. But she told us like 3 times they were cleaning a table for us....cleaning a table for 20 min. All the other staff frequently walked around with water or broth to refill which is nice. Unfortunately I dropped my chopsticks and asked for another pair twice but never got it so I had to suffice with my spoon. I ordered the curry hot pot. It would be better if they got bowls with more depth because they have a lot of ingredients but not enough broth to cook it. Then when you ask for more broth it dilutes the original flavor. Ordering additional sides would need more broth refills to cook it. My roommate saw that mine was diluted and didn't want to refill hers, but again there wasn't enough broth anyhow and her shrimps were left mostly raw so she had to get the refill. I visited this location for the first time during Friday lunch. In my opinion, it would be best to take public transportation or uber to it. Parking is very limited and it takes a while to find parking. My boyfriend and I opted to park in a residential neighborhood and walked to Tasty Pot. When I walked into the restaurant, I loved how the design of the restaurant is quite new and the chairs were definitely comfortable. I liked how they gave ice tea instead of water. (It is one of the few restaurants that give out free teas). I ordered the beef soup with mild. If you cannot handle spicy food, I recommend not to add spice to it. For me, I know I can't handle spicy food, but went for mild instead. I was struggling to eat it because it was too spicy for me, but ordered it anyways to have more flavor. They also add more soup if you would like some. If it is too spicy, just ask for more soup. The portion was definitely filling and left me feeling full. However, I wish they put a little more vermicelli in the bowl. read more

Normally, I like tasty pot.. it's convenient and the wait is never bad, if there is a wait at all since there are so many chain locations now. This location, however..... I ordered the beef hot pot.... the flavor was not there. It was very bland!!! I understand that it's brand new... but the tables were sticky!!! How could they let it get like this so fast?! Visited Tasty Pot around 1:30pm on a Sunday and our table of 2 was seated immediately (first time here with no wait time!!). My friend and I both ordered the Lamb Hot Soup- mine with no spice, my friend's with mild spice, and both with sides of rice. It's what I always get when I go because I feel like it can do no wrong. The soups come with so many different ingredients that complement each other perfectly. I get the soup with no spice because I've tried the mild before and with my inability to handle the spicy, even the mild is too much for me. My friend loves it as mild though because she says it has just the right amount of kick, but she says medium spice may be too spicy for some people. Even with no spice however, the hot pot was delicious and extremely filling. The service was also superb- they have sauces on the side and I accidentally filled my sauce dish with one of the spicier ones so our waiter got me a new dish right away and offered to refill my broth in case I got any spicy sauce in it. He also saw me struggling to turn off my fire because it was getting too hot and helped me out asap. Shoutout to Tasty Pot and our waiter for looking out. I love hot pot and am so glad there is a tasty pot in Berkeley. Though tasty pot is not my favorite Taiwanese hot pot chain, it definitely is my top 5. My favorite pot is the curry pot which comes with pork, Napa cabbage, fried fish balls, regular fish balls, raw egg and a bunch of other veggies/tofu. I think it's the most flavorful out of the regular sized soups. I've also tried the beef hot pot and enjoy it but like the curry pot more. I always order my pot mild because medium is slightly too spicy for me.. maybe it's also because the soup is boiling so the temperature heightens the spiciness. As for the sauces I like the mix the bean paste sauce with the garlic soy. Warning: the chili oil is very spicy so just a little goes a long way. Also if you can, come here for lunch! The pots are the same but it's Cheaper and comes with a drink during lunch time. read more

I was disappointed with the foods that I ordered with tasty pot. I visited there with my friend and, we ordered one curry pot and one pork pot. The food were not delicious at all especially the soup. The bad thing was the service. Staff didn't come to ask any feedback from me. The price was not cheap that I can say that it's worth to eat it again. read more
