We were fortunate enough to be invited to the funeral for Smashmouth's Steve Harwell and we were staying at the hotel so we decided to give this place a try. We ate here for dinner two nights in a row if that says anything! The restaurant is pretty much just the bar with a few tables on the outside. There is a lot of seating in the hotel lobby though. The bartender advised ordering the food "to go" so we could sit anywhere. We had dinner during the free happy hour so we just ordered from the bartender. All three of the bartenders I interacted with were polite and professional. The food came out within a reasonable amount of time. Both nights I ordered the garden salad with chicken. Although, one night they must not have heard me and did not include the chicken. The salad had greens, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, carrots, and dried cranberries. However, much like the chicken, I only received the cranberries on one of the nights. The chicken was cold and flavorless. I definitely recommend this place if you are staying at the hotel. read more

We sadly had a disappointing experience tonight. We approached the bar in hopes of ordering dinner and the first server I made eye contact with, Lisa, gave a half-hearted smirk and stayed leaning against the back wall. Thankfully the male bartender as far more helpful and welcomed us and offered us menus. It was Lisa who was eventually our server. Our burger was good, the Caesar salad was passable, but we had to have our sons' Pizza made *four* times until it was finally done correctly. First it was due to poor listening. The wrong order came out and when we informed Lisa that it was not what we had ordered she was short with us, but took it back and said they would remake it. Then Lisa came back out 10 mins later and informed us the chef made it wrong again. Then the pizza came out a third time and it was clear the chef had picked off the incorrect toppings and added several layers of cheese over it. The pizza couldn't keep the cheese on it. Disgusting and a clear sign of poor workmanship. Lisa has gotten a lot nicer as the multiple mistakes have piled up, but the fact remains that we had poor service from the beginning and the kitchen is clearly taking shortcuts. read more

Embassy Suites has a restaurant. It was underwhelming. It's okay. If you're hungry, you'll appreciate that it's hot food. I just wish they'd expand the menu a little. I had the pasta and it was not bad but not great. Would've appreciated something like a taco salad or chef salad... something other than Caesar or whatever it was they offered. read more

Our small group of friends came here on a weekday evening. This restaurant located inside the renovated Embassy Suites is quite interesting as the tables are spread out with some close to the lobby/lounge area. There's also a bar one one corner of the hotel. To my own curiosity, there were hardly anyone around except for a couple of occupied tables. Perhaps weeknight business is tough during off seasons. Anyhow, the service was expedient and we ordered the following: Steak frites, charred onion and arugula, fish & chips, and the fried chicken with provolone and aioli telera. I did not know what the telera is so looked it up and apparently, telera is the bread of choice used to make the Mexican sandwiches or torts. It tasted slight sour and had a nice firm texture. To my surprise, I found the sandwich to be really delicious. All the ingredients come together beautifully. The presentation of the dishes was a feast for the eyes. All the items on the plates were beautifully-laid out. The steak frites were cooked to perfection. The fish and chips also looked delightful. As for the taste and flavors, some were just okay but for the most part, it was as expected from a hotel restaurant. I may return in the future for certain occasions as the atmosphere is quite nice and conducive to business meetings and intimate discussions. read more

Tried TASTE for the first time couple weeks back, and we were pleasantly surprised. They've gone through a major remodel, which includes the installation of Tesla chargers, which is how we ended up here. Figured we'd grab dinner while the Tesla charged. There were only 2 other groups when we arrived on a Friday evening. They had a kids menu, which was great. My son got the chicken strips and fries, along with their Pink Lemonade. He loved his food. My husband got the fish and chips, I had one of their bacon burgers with criss-cut fries. Food wasn't bad. The servers were so friendly! We had a great experience, will definitely go back. read more

The service here is no doubt very friendly. I wish they had a better menu of food, but I guess typical hotel fare were standard pizzas and burgers. They did have quesadillas and chicken and waffles... I saw the chicken and waffles from a different table and I wasn't impressed with it. The full bar was a hit or miss. The Bloody Mary I got was okay, but they carried 209 Gin so that was great. It's very rare to find 209 in a hotel in the Bay Area. Anyway, I believe they also catered the daily breakfast as well as our event's lunch buffet. The breakfast had all the food groups needed to start the day. I really enjoyed the made-to-order Omelette. It was definitely carefully made with a nice smile. It went well with the salsa. I also loved their Orange Juice with pulp. Love the pulp! The lunch buffet was fantastic. I love the Beef Bourguignon. It reminded me of the Filipino dish Beef Kaldereta, although very different in flavor. I wish I'd taken photos of the breakfast and lunch buffet, but I'm sure I'll come back here for another event maybe. read more

Flavorless foods and slow service. Taste is located inside the Embassy Suite hotel. Once you enter the main lobby, the restaurant is locate on the right side. The two star is for the clean and bottle service $15 for a wine bottle. We arrived on Saturday at 7PM and the restaurant was empty. We order a lot of foods, almost all the items on the menu. It is very limited menu and foods are too small compare to the price. 2 steak tacos for $18 and it was the worst dry taco I ever eaten! The steak was dry, chewy and over cook. The chicken was flavorless and over cook. The avocado toast was bad! The only good thing was a salad. Everything else was just bad, no flavor to whatever! While paying for the bill, they didn't asked if we finished the foods or want it to go.. they just clean it and take it away without saying anything! Bad service! Overall, foods is expensive and flavorless! Everything was dry and over cook! Service is bad. read more

I travel to the Bay Area a lot, and am always looking for good food options there. Last time I visited the San Jose area, I decided to visit TASTE after hearing that it was part of the newly renovated Embassy Suites in Milpitas -- and I was not disappointed. First off, it's pretty central to Silicon Valley, so it's really easy to get to and from for a lunch or dinner. Secondly, the menu features a range of dishes that are both classic and trendy, from avocado toast with ricotta to a farro grain bowl to crisped salmon. Personally, I opted for the avocado toast. The bread was toasted to perfection, and the avocado was delicious. I will definitely be back next time I'm in the area! read more

After a long day of travel I didn't feel like going anywhere outside the hotel so this was the option we had. I ordered the burger and fries which while a little pricey was good. Unfortunately the hotel was doing construction so while the noise was annoying enough they flooded the floor above us and water began to pouring down from the ceiling. Waited 2 hours for a salad and a turkey sandwich. Was told they would comp a drink since we had to wait so long, (wouldn't have gotten a drink if didn't have to wait or get told a drink would be comped) and when the bill came, that did not happen even after speaking with the manager. Poorly managed and slow kitchen, many excuses of how theyre a new restaurant and still figuring things out. They try to seperate themselves from the hotel as a "cool bar that serves really good food," and forget they're attached to a hotel where a lot of their business comes from. HAD to go back 2 nights later after a long days work and the music was deafening. Unable to hear conversation and had to shout out orders. Asked two waiters and the bartender to turn it down, and eventually got told that "corporate controls the volume and they wouldn't turn it down," total BS since we were at the bar/restaurant 2 nights earlier at the same time and the music was NOT at that ridiculous volume. Ended up moving our table to the lobby for dinner where we could STILL hear the music blarring but at least it was tolerable and we could hear our dinner conversation. read more
