Great service, crazy fast. I first started going here when I used to work in the neighborhood, and now I still enjoy going back for routine stuff. They're really nice, and never try to sell you on anything else. Today I brought my car in for an oil change and state inspection. I walked across the street to the coffee shop to wait, and they almost had it ready before I had the wifi up and running on my laptop. read more

Took in my Subaru WRX for an inspection. While the mechanic was nice and prices were good, I had a major problem with the way they treated my car. Instead of taking my car slowly to the service bay to complete the inspection, the mechanic decided to rev the engine and take off hard down a back street. He came back around 5 minutes later revving hard. What kind of shop does that? While nothing may have broken, they still disrespected my car by 1. driving it hard and 2. by driving it around without my permission. We all work hard to pay for our vehicles and don't expect them to be treated in this way. This is completely unacceptable. I will not be giving this shop any more business in the future. read more

I work just next door to Tarrytown Texaco and have been pleasantly surprised by the speed of their services and the friendliness of their staff. Also, it is one of the few places I can take my car without them trying to sell me additional services or repairs. They are straightforward in their dealings and extremely helpful. The pricing I have found to be reasonable and equitable. As a young woman, I feel extremely vulnerable to scams when I go to the mechanics, but here I am dealt with respect. I don't think I could have found a better mechanic! read more

I have had so many great experiences at the Tarrytown Texaco. The most important was my first. I was told by a 'brake specialty shop' I needed new brakes (I did have really bad squealing). For a second opinion, I took it up the street to the Tarrytown Texaco. The second opinion turned out to be dust on the brake discs- a quick power wash which they completed for $50. This experience saved me at least $500 and established a great trust level. Since then I have taken my cars to TT for all my needs- big or small. And every time they are polite, helpful, accurate on pricing and timing. I don't know a thing about cars so having a garage I can trust is worth the cost the local garage charges. (approx 15% more than other bids). read more

This is probably the worst place to ever go if you need your car inspection. They took over an hour and had horrible customer service. The guy packed a huge lip of tobacco while talking to me and also belittled me. I am from out of state and needed my car inspected to send back to MA and he didn't understand that I didn't need to switch over my insurance to Texas because I am simply getting it reinspected for an MA car registration. Never go here ever. read more

I picked up a nail in my tire and went over to Tarrytown Texaco. They fixed it on the spot for me! I didn't even have to get out of my car. The gentleman who fixed it was very nice and helpful. He only charged me $15. read more

Came here to get my flat tire fixed and, since the service was so fast, I ended up also asking for a state inspection. Couldn't be happier with the service. Paid $33.50 total for the fix and the inspection. Will definitely be back. read more

Excellent service. I've been coming here for years. Quick inspections, friendly staff, always able to help and solve any car problems and questions you may have. Also have a full drive through car wash and Caesars Detail car wash in the back. The fact that there's always cars coming in and out and how busy yet quick they are speaks on their popularity and loyal customer base. read more

Just got my car back from Tarrytown Texaco after some major engine work. Wonderful service. I honestly trust nobody else in town to do this kind of work for me. Murray is great. A mechanic and a shop that you can trust to find the right problem and fix it right the first time is a rare find. Thank you Murray and thank you Tarrytown Texaco. read more

I needed a state inspection and an oil change in a hurry. I showed up right at 7am, the manager, Paul, told me he'd get them both done in about 45 minutes. When I told him I'd like to find some coffee but didn't know the area, he offered to drive me 2 min. up the road to the Starbucks and then pick me up again when my car was done. An hour later, I was fully caffeinated and holding the inspection papers I needed to get my TX registration plates. To top it off, Paul gave me a tip on a place to get my registration done faster without standing in line at Airport Blvd. Great service, highly recommended. read more

Brought my vespa in for a state inspection. The guy at the front desk was friendly as were the other associates I interacted with. They got to my scooter no more than 5 minutes after I arrived. Quick, easy, close location, and the feel of a dedicated small business. read more

These guys were prompt and polite. They said they could have me out of there in 45 minutes, and they did. The main thing that gets them five stars, though, is that they made absolutely no attempt to upsell me. Every other time I've taken a car in for an oil change, there's an annoying bit at the end where they try to scare me into another $500 worth of repairs. Not here, not a single syllable. I'm in love. read more

I love Tarrytown Texaco. I've been going there off and on for over 15 years. Paul and all the guys who work there have always been wonderful in helping me with car problems large and small. They're friendly and welcoming and I just appreciate them so very much. Thank you, Tarrytown Texaco! read more

Not sure what it is about this place but no one ever seems to want to help me. Anywhere else I can pull up to the garage for a simple oil change and be greeted by the staff but not here. Two, maybe three, times I've pulled up and all the workers are sitting inside just staring at me. I asked for help and they said they'd be right with me, yet 3 guys continue to sit there. After 5 minutes I drove down the street to the Shell station and got a recommendation for Terry's Inspection and it worked out great. read more

Took in a 2002 car for steering issues and was also asking for a high mileage inspection/tune-up. They said they could not replicate the steering issues - despite the issue being very obvious and reproduced by me, my wife, and grandma. They told me new cars don't need tuneups unless there is a check engine light on. Ok, this isn't exactly a high tech vehicle. Took it down the road to the Shell at Westover. It took them 2 minutes to diagnose the steering issue and then they asked if they should do a complimentary high mileage inspection (without any prompting) considering it "is an older car with high mileage". Have never had issues at Tarrytown Texaco in the past but this visit was a waste of my time. read more

I just moved here and am currently waiting for my safety inspection. Over the phone I heard a man call someone to tell them their car was ready and offered to go pick them up!! Hello southern hospitality. Then a customer walked in said has was borrowing his buddy's car and asked what gas it takes. The employee answers and said "let's check the tire pressure while you're here, you don't want to miss anything up when you're borrowing someone's car." Again, going out of their way for outstanding customer service. I would definitely recommend to a friend. read more

Pulled in and was shocked to see full serve gas available. Spa day for the car! Gassed up, tires pumped, windshield wiped, and rolling along in minutes. Never have experienced that in my life, and it was great. The two fellows who jumped up when I pulled in were super friendly and respectful. read more

I bought two tires through Tarrytown Texaco and had them installed. Due to some miscommunication between the front desk and the mechanics, there was a mix-up that caused a delay and some major frustration. I contacted the manager to let them know about my experience and they offered an apology and a full refund. This was above and beyond in terms of customer service, and I will definitely go there again. read more

Brought my car here for an inspection the other day and they were fast and efficient! I dropped off the car, walked to Wells Fargo to get some cash, and by the time I wandered back, they were done! Definitely recommend this place. I only went because it was very very close to my house, but I will most definitely be going back. read more

Love these guys! I had a leak in my tire and got there very early one morning, so early they weren't even open yet. Ross was busy getting the shop ready to open but was eager to help with a smile. He patched my tire, checked the others and I still made it to work on time. I really appreciate good old fashioned customer service, something most places are lacking, but Tarrytown Texaco has always been great to me and I always recommend them to my friends. read more

Michael at Tarrytown Texaco is most knowledgeable and nice mechanic I have ever had. He is honest and very funny. He is always available. They are best mechanics in town from those I have visited. read more

I'm so glad that I found these guys. They are super nice guys always carrying a smile. They are NOT after your money and they are so good at their job.. I have had 6-7 visits to this place and each time I have had a great experience.. they are quick and most importantly they always work with the best attitude.. I love them. I go to them whenever my car has a big/small problem.. even if its not a mechanic's thing (sometimes a body shop's work) I just take my car to them and ask them what to do. Every single time they have just fixed everything. read more

I am a graduate student at UT, and went here to get the inspection of my car done. They said it was not going to pass and that they needed to check with the computer to see what was wrong with it - a process that costs $90 only to tell you what it is. Turns out that there were 4 things wrong with the car, and the total came up to $2,000 for them to fix it!!! My car is not new, but is in good condition and I had just done a general check to it a month ago, oil and filter change and everything seemed to be fine. They said (Tarrytown) it was better for me to just sell the car. I was super stressed out, I didn't have $2000 for all this and the thought of having to look for another used car seemed dreadful. But I also didn't think the car was in such a bad condition!! So I took it somewhere else. The other mechanic used that computer again (for free!!!) and said that it was only one thing wrong with my car, which could be fixed with adding more coolant!! He did, and then the problem was gone and I was able to pass the inspection! And this guy did all this for free...! I would never recommend Tarrytown to anyone! They basically stole $90 from me, for something that was a super easy fix, and worst, wanted to charge $2,000 for the 'fix'!! This is just outrageous!! read more

really disappointed in this place. i called on friday, was told to bring my car in monday early morning for break pads - they said it would be about 3 hours for the job. i made appointments nearby to kill time. dropped off my car and they said it would be ready around 11 or 11:30. i returned at 11:15 to find no work had been done and an estimate of $600+. so - i returned tues morning to have the work done before 8am and was told they couldn't get to my car. i then took my car to brake check on n lamar - had the entire job done (plus an extra service) in under 2 hours for LESS than $300. read more
