Just had a great experience at Newberry's! Went in to get an inspection and John was fantastic. He was very professional, got me registered and finished the inspection within 6 mins. Then, he offered to pump up both front tires since the sensors said they were low. I could have done that myself since they have air pumps at both ends of their gas stalls, so that was an unexpected and very appreciated customer service act. read more

Used to love this place, but wont ever return now. Went in for inspection. Cashier immediately gave me bad attitude. Said her & mechanics were 2 different companies, she couldn't help me, had to wait for mechanic, wouldn't let them know i was there, wasn't going to babysit them etc. After 10 minutes she went to back, returned saying they were all staring at their phones but didn't tell them I was there. I walked round to were cars pulled into bays, 2 people at desk and pushing broom. Said their system had been down for last day still wasn't working couldn't do inspections. Newberry automotive is very professional and in my book high integrity standards. They are in Bee Caves and I reside in Pflugerville. I've taken my car here for years, but refuse to do so ever again. I've never been treated so poorly by someone than I was today, and this is the last place I expected it. I took my car to get it inspected this morning. This is the second time in 2 days because their machine was down the day before. I went inside and told the person working the register that I was here for an inspection. She replied with "that ain't me." And walked away and went to work at the desk. I stood there confused and asked her if I need go over to the garage and ask them because I genuinely didn't know. She then proceeds to start telling me I'm being rude and that she won't help me because I didn't ask her to call them properly, which I thought was implied when I said I was there for an inspection. Eventually, she calls but I stand there for about 10 mins and no one comes to help me and this woman, who I found out was the manager, just sits there and ignores me and makes rude comments. I finally leave and walk around to the garage since I wasn't getting help and was told to go up front and that I'm not allowed to be there. (I wasn't in the garage). I mentioned my interaction with the person at the front and was essentially told "too bad." Finally, after about 20 minutes, they start to inspect my car. But I'm told "the machine isn't connecting to my car (a 2020 by the way) and to take it to another shop. I sent my friend there later that day to see if it worked for her since she has the same car as I do and she was able to get hers inspected with no connection issues. SO THEY STRAIGHT UP LIED TO ME. I ALSO DIDN'T GET MY REFUND FOR THE INSPECTION!! I've made complaints with the BBB, Attorney general consumer protection office, and DPS. Probably won't do any good, but who knows. It's sad this place has turned into this, and judging from the reviews, I'm not the first person who had this experience. Rude, incompetent and dishonest. Westlake beware. I requested Newberry Automotive contact my insurance company to file a claim as standard procedure. After waiting almost a WEEK I followed up to find out the claim was never called in as promised. I sent a wrecker to take the vehicle to the dealership and was then told they would detain my vehicle ( I suppose by force due to the fact its not under legal means) unless I paid unauthorized charges I was never informed of or agreed to. read more

I've been taking my vehicles to this Newberry Automotive for 5+ years. They were great in the beginning and I have referred many friends and family members to them in the past. Unfortunately, their customer service has really gone downhill in the last few years. My vehicle was frequently misdiagnosed, and I had to spend thousands of dollars on repairing the same thing over and over again. Most recently they had my vehicle in their possession for 3 months while I waited on repairs (it needed a new ABS module). They never once proactively reached out to me with updates. Whenever I called for updates, they acted bothered that I was calling to request an update on my vehicle. When I finally decided to picked up my vehicle without repairs, there was no one from Newberry manning the front desk. I had to ask Yvette the Chevron cashier to call someone from Newberry for me. She had an attitude with me and told me that she doesn't work for Newberry and then proceeded to ignore me. A different customer walked in the door, asking for an inspection and Yvette was also rude to her. Then Simon, another Chevron employee, and jumped in on the discussion letting us know that Newberry staff is overworked and understaffed and it is not the responsibility of Chevron cashiers to call Newberry staff to come help Newberry customers. The reviews here are pretty accurate. If you want the job done efficiently (I got a state inspection) they get the job done. If you want any personal relationship, communication, or connection to your humanity, the culture here is definitely not that. If I had a bigger job that wasn't an emergencyand wanted to ask questions and have a sense I was being taken care of as a respected customer, I'd look elsewhere. If you want to be treated like garbage then this is the place for you. I think I'd get better service by working with the mafia. My husband broke down on the side of the highway and got his car towed here. He was supposed to have his car inspected to hopefully have warranty cover whatever was wrong with it. After a week of BS he now is towing his car to ANOTHER shop because this place was too incompetent to do anything. This place put him on hold over the phone (or so they thought) and he overheard the manager PAUL literally tell the front desk associate to keep telling my husband he was too busy to talk to him. They also tried charging him for a dead battery when that wasn't even something that was actually wrong with the car. My husband ended up having to pay $160 just to have his keys returned to him even though they did absolutely no work or inspection. So I recommend this place if you want to be robbed of your money and be treated with the most disrespect I have ever seen! read more

I used to almost exclusively go to this Chevron for gas and get state inspection. Around mid-late May, I was treated rudely enough to never return. I was on a work phone call with my phone to my ear. I wasn't paying attention closely and was waiting at the coke machine while a couple people were standing there talking. Then they noticed me and I noticed that it was two of the employees who weren't getting coke, just hanging out talking. The woman employee looked at me and said "Excuse me is the word" and walked away. I was still on the phone but couldn't believe she just said that. So I stared at her for a moment. She came back and said. "Yeah, I was talking to you." and then laughed and went back to her conversation with the other employee. Needless to say, I'm sad to see this gas station go downhill. Bad customer service. Went in for an inspection and waited on site for them to finish. They parked my car on the side of the building and never bothered to tell me it was finished. Finally went inside after waiting for what felt like too long and they told me it had been ready for a while now. When I tried to leave they had parked my car over the line and so close to the car next to me that I had to crawl through the passenger side to get into the driver seat. TERRIBLE customer service and communication! I don't care if you hate your job; your customers don't deserve to be treated with an attitude. People skills are important for nearly any job and these people have missed the mark. First, I walk in and barely say hi - the guy at the counter is already rolling his eyes and being huffy. He takes down my request and I hand him my keys. He's mad because they're on a tight schedule so apparently I should feel bad for "inconveniencing" him. He just walks away without a word so I didn't know if he still needed anything else from me. A few minutes later he comes back in and I had to ask if I'm all set. He said yes, so...what, am I supposed to read minds? I get a voicemail at closing time asking to call back so I call first thing the next morning. The tech who answered was like "Well I'm only the person who does xyz so I can't help you. The other guy comes in about an hour so you'll need to call back." He sounded huffy and nasty as well. I told him he should have his guy call me when he gets in and he agreed. Five hours go by and I get no call. So I have to call THEM back. A lady answered and I explained the situation asking to speak with the guy. She puts me on hold and a minute later, another woman answers asking how she can help me. I tell her everything that happened and that I just want to know what the heck is going on. She then says the car is done but they found a leak and broken spark plugs. So I ask when that can be done and she said I have to wait a couple days. I then agree to leave the car with them but let her know I was frustrated with the way I'd been treated. She doesn't even acknowledge that - No sorry, no nothing. She just says well we'll be in touch with you about what everything will cost. Update: I just got my car back and am upping my rating to 2 stars because the woman I spoke to today was well mannered and everything I'd asked for had been done. They also called me when my car was ready. read more

Mix equal parts Chevron station, limited c-store, auto repair shop, and vehicle inspection station, and you get NADA. I came by a couple weeks ago early on a Saturday for a vehicle inspection after researching locations open on Saturday with good reviews for honesty. If you can find a place to park among the junk cars at the edge of the lot here, you'll see a sign directing you inside the c-store for assistance. And that's okay, because this is the natural evolution of the classic service station. What's not okay is rude and condescending treatment at the counter by the attendant who I had apparently interrupted while she was in the storeroom restocking. Sorry, but I left my invitation at home. Midway through her inquisition/paperwork process, after I'd handed over my keys, I made the mistake of asking the dreaded "How long?", which was met with a bit of self-righteous indignation. Luckily, another person in the store (possibly a customer?) piped up and said that two were ahead of me. It wasn't about wait time, it was about the bad vibes I got from the lady behind the counter and the place in general. She seemed truly astonished when I asked for my keys back and left in search of another inspection station. Sorry, but you're not the only game in town. Maybe my experience would have been different with someone else at that counter, but they'll never get that second chance with me. read more

The Woman named India began working there I believe 2 years ago is incredibly rude to all customers. I've been in multiple times and she seems miserable, hates her job hates the customers even more. Never a smile always annoyed that you're wanting to get service from them and I've personally seen her tell customers who are being very nice and sweet to her that she doesn't think they're funny. This company should replace her immediately as it's always been a nice neighborhood spot to quickly get your oil changed or inspections. DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS BUSINESS! If you can't get the small stuff right, why should I trust you with the big stuff? I stopped by this shop for a car wash and initially the payment kiosk had trouble taking a credit card. No biggie so I put a $10 bill in and selected my wash. When I go to pull in, NO wash. Okay so something is fouled up with the system, so I go inside and ask them to refund my $10. Not only do they refuse but they don't offer any relief whatsoever and were extremely rude about it. Things break, it's fine, but don't be so damned rude about it and refuse to refund or even offer a car wash coupon or code for when the systems are repaired. read more

Awful! I went to this gas station for my annual vehicle inspection. Inside I requested inspection services, the woman and the counter called back to the mechanic to let him know there was a customer. No mechanic came from the service area to meet me. After 10 minutes I went to the back to see if anyone was there. A young man was in a chair, feet up on the desk, his back to me, watching a video on his phone. No one else was there. I said excuse me, but I was there for an inspection. He said "What are you doing back here- go to the front." I said I had just come from the front, but no one had come to do the inspection. He pushed me aside and went to the front and apparently yelled at the women at the counter for my coming to find him (They were protesting to him that they had not told me to go to the back. And they had not. It was not their fault. He was the one who ignored their call). When I came in he said "Where's your proof of insurance?" I handed it to him. When I ask whether he needed me to pull my car around for him, he just said "Give me the keys." By this time he'd been so ugly to me that I was feeling uncertain about trusting him with my car, but the keys were in the car already, so he proceeded. Rude, unnecessarily, and all because he got caught sloughing off on the job. I won't go back to that Chevron. read more

I've typically had good service for inspections. But, I needed my Jeep worked on, since it hadn't been running for a few months. I called ahead, explaining the situation, and asked if I needed an appointment. The woman said 'first come, first served -- just bring it in and we'll get you running again'. However, when I brought the vehicle in, the service manager said they couldn't take it. He said it'll be 2-3 weeks at least, and they just can't be pushing the vehicle around the lot while it's there. I have no idea what he was talking about, but the bottom line, he refused to service my vehicle even after I'd called ahead and confirmed that they would work on it. I will never go back there again. Some younger guy came out to my car and told me to park and head in the store to get squared away. He was kind of rude while I was interacting with him. No big deal though, we've all had bad days and I was honestly just happy to find a place that was open after I got out of class. The guy I talked to while paying seemed like a nice enough guy. I called Maxwell Ford and got prices for the parts list it on there work order. His explanation Was only the price is the price.. I told him that I will get some clarity for why I was overcharged. The rating is simply the customer service. We are living in Austin temporarily and found this place to get an oil change. My husband called right when they opened and told him the make/year of our car just to make sure they had all the parts ready. They said yes. We didn't make an appointment bc they just do walk ins. I show up about an hour later and was told it was gonna take an hour bc another car being serviced. I walked to the center next door (bc they don't have a sitting area) and return an hour later only to see the car is still parked! All the woman said "We didn't have the filter so we ordered it. This was about an hour ago. Not sure why it's not here yet." No apology. No offer to call to follow. Just attitude. She walked off and just pawned me off to some other person to help.... someone who didn't even know what the issue was. There are so many things that could have been done differently on their part: 1) confirm they did have the parts (my husband specifically called you for that reason) 2) call me to tell me you had the order the parts and the wait would be longer 3) apologize for any inconvenience it has caused (one did but not the other one who was actually doing the job). I left to get my car serviced elsewhere. If one acts like they could care less to be at work... I'm not sure if they should be trusted for a service we pay for. This is an auto shop conveniently located for anyone living nearby. That is the only reason I kept bringing my car here over the past year and a half despite poor service, continuous delays, and constant miscommunication. In all fairness, this shop does a good job of fixing cars. The real issue is lack of customer service. The last time I brought my car in, I received an initial price estimate of $150 for a service they eventually charged over $500 for. They also kept giving me false information of when my car would be ready, resulting in numerous unnecessary uber trips as I left my car in the shop being told that it would be ready "the next day" - turned out to be almost a week's worth of going back and forth to the shop. Despite my bad history with Newberry, I took my car back because it's so close to my place that I really wanted to have a good experience here. It would be so convenient for this shop to do a quality job through and through. That has not been my experience. My car is currently in the shop to get a sensor fixed to pass inspections. I called at the end of today to see if it was ready for pickup After confirming my name, they told me it was ready and I could pick it up before they close. I left work early to uber in rush hour traffic across town to make it in time. I arrived and was informed my car wasn't ready, and they had not even started work on it. They had simply made a mistake in telling me it was ready, but they would get it fixed "first thing tomorrow." That is the standard I have come to accept from Newberry. Nice mechanics who do fair work, but they have constant delays and miscommunication that result in lost time and money on my part. The reviews for this place are right on. This morning after taking my car for an oil change at the dealership, the mechanic at the dealer told me I needed a bunch of stuff done that would total about 2k. I then went to Newberry for a second opinion. Ross at Newberry squeezed my car in for a quick look at the belts and other things that the dealer told me to replace. From what he saw, only one of the items was valid and it wasn't something that needed immediate attention. He was extremely straight-forward and honest and showed me what to keep an eye on under the hood over the next few weeks. I'll definitely be going here with my future car issues. read more

I came here once for an inspection as everyplace else had long waits. It took maybe 10 minutes! As others mentioned its very unassuming and it would be easy to mistake this place as just another gas station/convenience store, but they are full service mechanics and based on my 2 visits here they are lightening quick and very well priced (5 bucks to change a tail light!) and clearly want to build repeat business and great word of mouth. This place is close to my work so I know where I'll get all my stuff done and all my inspections. read more

They charged $100 less than what I had been quoted by other businesses AND the mechanic was at my apartment in under an hour. He was very polite and professional as well. Today I went to get an oil change because it's the most convenient location in regards to where I work. It was quick, but there isn't really anywhere to wait for your car to be worked on. Anyways, I've gotten several oil changes in various places and they all always range from $25 to $40. I went in expecting to pay that price only for the woman to charge me $90!!! I asked why it was so much and she said they checked the tire pressure and all sorts of other things and I told her I had just asked for an oil change she just stared at me. A few weeks ago I got two flat tires. I went to get one patched up and they charged me $15 which was fine if it hadn't started leaking air as soon as I got out of there. I had managed to get the spare on the other side but I knew it was a bit loose since I'm a weenie. The guy said it was fine and didn't even check. As soon as I started driving out my wheel started creaking and shaking and making a terrible noise. Another customer had to come and help me and notify the man that my tire was not properly put on there. read more

It's a bit of an odd place to get an inspection (back half of a convenience store, but the people are friendly and the service is extremely fast. Would be a 5 star review if they had a place to sit indoors while you're waiting on your vehicle inspection. In the summer sitting outside in Texas is not preferable. read more

2nd year going there for inspection, both times they were surprisingly quick especially since I went during lunch hour and keep expecting a line. Getting an inspection is always hard for me to do after hours so this place really is a big hassle-saver for me. Terrible experience all around and horrendous pricing. I needed to get my alternator belt replaced and was quoted ~$180 for parts & labor over the phone. I decided to move forward with it and dropped off my car the following day. A few hours after dropping it off I received a call from Newberry letting me know that all three belts needed to be replaced, which was fine. However, I was also told that the cost wasn't $180 anymore but it would now cost $540 (each belt costs between $20-$25 in parts meaning they planned on charging $470 in labor for a 1-hour job). Since that quote seemed extensive, I researched online and called another shop where I was quoted $200-$250 for all three belts incl. labor. I told Newberry that I won't move forward with the repair and will pick up my car the same afternoon. While picking up my car, I was told that I owed a $90 "inspection fee". I argued that the quote I received over the phone was 3x cheaper compared to what I was quoted when the car was there but the lady I spoke to to insisted that I owed the $90. I just picked up my car this morning from the other shop where the grand total was $182 for all three belts instead of the quoted $540 at Newberry. Moral of the story- never go to Newberry unless you want to get ripped off, pay 3x market rates, and receive unfriendly service on top of it. read more
