I don't usually write reviews but the behavior and lack of customer service from a cashier really bothered me. This is in no relation to the store as I've never had an issue with Target and actually made some good deals that day since I got two $5 gift cards for buying things I already needed and was able to buy two products for free that I've been meaning to try, that is why I gave two stars, for the store. For their employee, negative stars if I could. Unfortunately I didn't catch her name but she was an asian american with short black hair in her 30's possibly. She was working on Wednesday at about 2-2:30. I hope the Manager sees this.
I made my first round to her register where she had 2 people in front of me, that's when she said that she was going to close after the customers in front of me, I'm thinking she may need to use the restroom or is going on her break, so I say okay and she directs me to the only other register open with 4 people in front of me. A woman does the same thing as I did and she is redirected to my line as the cashier said she is going to close, so the woman says okay and gets in line with me, same does the next woman. Now what gets us confused is the next woman to go into this cashiers line with a shopping cart full of items, she starts ringing her up, and allows another woman to get in her line. I am only stating that all these women are asian because it is relevant later on. The women in my line are white, black, and I am hispanic. And there are now 8 people in our line. As not to get confused I will call us by our race. The white woman looks irritated but doesn't say anything, and the black woman looked as confused as I look so she asks,"wait, you said you were closing, but they're getting in your line?" I agree with her, and that's when she calls someone on the phone to come open a register, again the black woman asks why they let them go and not us, and the cashier replies saying that she called someone to open a register. "That's not what we're asking," I say, the black woman continues with,"we're asking why you told us you were closing and had us go in this line but let those guests get rung up by you" She says something to the woman in her language then moves and directs the black woman to her line telling her she can come over, which she then tells the cashier I was in front of her and should be allowed first. She happily rings me up and I continue to go shopping. I come back with new items 10 minutes later, to see her still at her register talking to the cashier next to her (as they are both ringing customers) aloud about how the lady was only making a big deal because she was black and thinks everything is racist, (we never brought race into the mix), I interrupt to inform her coworker what had really happened very briefly as she's staring me down, but I never meet her gaze. He assures me he wasn't sure what had happened, and gave me a free bag to put my stuff in.
As a manager of a store myself, what bothers me about this scenario in a nutshell is her picking the customers she wants to help rather than helping them all equally, and her irresponsible and unprofessional choice to talk down about customers to her coworker IN FRONT of other customers. If she doesn't get written up for this (not fired just a written warning), then targets management have some work to do, this should not be over looked please, we are helping your business, so the business should be helping us! read more
