I've been going to the same optometrist for a very long time but went here on a whim. The girls up front were fairly polite & seemed happy to help. The optometrist rushed me & hardly listened to me. Almost seemed annoyed with me. They didn't have the sample contacts I needed in the store so they asked me to return in a few days to try out the samples. I did & I wanted to order glasses that same day. I was asked to sit & wait a sec but a second turned into almost an hour. I left. I called back to place an order for contacts & no answer. I finally bought glasses online & when I got them my prescription was so far off, I had to return them. I had a feeling it was my prescription & not the company that made my glasses so I called Target Optical to ask if they can help me & they said no because they only do rechecks up to 3 months after the initial visit. I paid out of pocket to have my exam redone at my usual place & I took my prescriptions from Target with me & they told me that my prescription was SO far off, it was ridiculous. I was also told by the ladies that worked there that they were in network with my insurance but when I called my insurance to let them know what had happened I was told that Target Optical was not in fact an in network location. The other reviews stating that the front desk ladies are very nice are true, but ultimately the prescription is what's most important (to me). Don't go here if you need an accurate prescription & professional provider. & double check that they're in network. Don't take their word for it. read more

Dr. Vu was great. It has been over a month since I ordered my glasses and they haven't been delivered.

To start off, I walked in and was not greeted by the 3 employees at the desk. I had no clue what to do and anyone with a sense of good customer service skills would notice that I was a deer in headlights. I stood at the desk without being acknowledged for longer than normal and finally was checked in. After I was done filling out paperwork I was told I could "look at glasses if I wanted." When I asked about them being sanitized before trying them on, I was simply told they aren't following those protocols anymore. I didn't see cleaner out nor was I offered any cleaner so I could handle it myself. I decided to take pictures of the ones I liked and then asked the same woman up front if I was supposed to try them on before or after my prescription. She told me I could put the ones I was interested on the counter so I left them there thinking she would clean them and she didn't. I was then called in to see the optometrist who was friendly upon our first greeting. The time I spent at the "machine" was very fast and I wasn't really given any explanation on what it does. When we went into his private office, I felt a bit uncomfortable and his bed side manners are definitely not up to par as other women have mentioned in other reviews. He cut me off, told me to stop rushing to answer and barely explained anything to me. There were many times that I couldn't see the difference on the reels and it was frustrating him. I honestly felt like a little kid getting scolded. When I asked if I would need to wear my glasses full time, he rudely said he was going to ask me a question and showed me what my eyes "currently looked like" and asked if I really want to live life with eyesight like that. He was being condescending and not really showcasing any empathy or understanding that an eye exam isn't something normal for me. I tried being polite but I didn't understand how he is in the position to work so closely with the public but lacks basic communication skills. After my exam, I literally stood at the front desk for minutes while the 3 employees (2 women and 1 man) sat there chatting about topics that a customer shouldn't really hear. Talking about parties, people not liking people, co-workers taking commissions, etc. I finally asked if the glasses could be cleaned so I could try them on and make a decision. I had to ask questions to guide my experience and that just isn't the way it should be. I am disappointed in myself for giving this place my money, business and time. Unfortunately my life and schedule is so busy and the fact that I took the time to come here for my first optometry appointment in 6 years, I didn't want to go through a hassle of finding another place, providing my insurance info and going through the process again. I will tell you that I will NOT return here next year for an eye exam once my prescription expires. Please hire an office manager or re-think the entire staff because I was so turned off by my experience and I would not recommend this business to anyone. read more

1st time here-been waiting for a Target Optical in Redlands like forever, like totally‍....Dr. Vu was extremely pleasant, professional and courtesy...Dr. Vu explained to me where my glasses are strength-wise from a year ago & compared the strength of my vision now...super helpful when making decisions on which glasses or contacts to buy. So far I am happy with the examination but am even more excited for my new pair of glasses No more LensCrafters for me, thx God oh and make an appointment I made an appointment arrived 15 minutes prior and Dr. Vu kept the appointment time. cool read more

Dr. Vu is an amazing optometrist. He was very kind and made me feel appreciated and comfortable. He was very patient and informative with all my questions and concerns and explained my prescription in great detail. I was referred to him by a few coworkers who had nothing but positive things to say about him and I am very happy to have found my new optometrist. His staff is very friendly and welcoming and made sure to greet and acknowledge everyone that stepped into their optometry. Everyone is nice and friendly, it's a clean and tidy place. Other reviews say Dr. Vu is rude, etc. but to me he's just sarcastic and jokes around. A lot of people might not "get it" so maybe he should tone it down but to me it's nothing problematic. My issue is the $50, yes FIFTY dollar charge for "spherical fitting" that isn't discussed or at all disclosed before payment is taken. I was texted a receipt and when I got home and looked at it I saw this charge. $50 to "fit" me into contacts....the same contacts I've been wearing for ten years, the same contacts I have already been "fitted" in by the same doctor a year ago, and with the SAME PRESCRIPTION. They charged me $50 to leave with contacts I came in with!!! Just because I said I wanted to purchase contacts, they claim they can charge this extra fee tacked onto the exam. It was another $10 for the exam and $70 for new contacts themselves, after insurance!! $130 for an exam and 6 months worth of contacts. I called to ask about it and they said it's a charge they require every time you go in for an exam and want contacts. Absolutely insane and such a greedy money grab, these people should be ashamed of taking advantage of people and really truly stealing when they aren't disclosing charges ahead of time. Won't be returning EVER. read more

Took my daughter's glasses to have the screw attach one of the arms back onto her glasses as I didn't have the correct tool at home to do it myself. Been looking for a new optical center and I stumbled across target optical. Love target so I tried them and I loved them. Dr. Vu I believe his name is, he's great. You can tell he really cares about his patients/ customers. The 2 girls in the front are very nice. Great customer service. I don't remember her name but she has black hair, well she's super nice.
